Firstly the prices inside are much more expensive than they tell you online. Came here because the afternoon tea was advertised as being £12.50pp but when we got there it was actually £17pp, a massive price hike. We ended up going for a cheese and ham panini (£9.75!!!!!) and a jacket potato with chilli (£9!!!). The jacket potato was pretty okay, no complaints there but the panini was cold and the cheese not melted, it felt like it had been made a long time before serving. The crisps it came with tasted stale. The coffee was horrible, the milk was burnt and there was no foam at all considering they were supposed to be lattes. It was just bubbles at the top! For a £3.75 latte, oat milk was an extra 40p (over £1 more expensive than posh London cafes might I add) it was horrid. Watching the person make it was upsetting, dairy milk and plant milk being steamed with the same wand even though their machine has two separate wands is a huge contamination issue. If I did those things where I work I would be fired and the place put under investigation! Luckily I don’t have a severe allergy or that alone could have killed me. The person making the coffee did not know how to make a coffee, you could tell easily by the burnt taste and the screeching sound the milk was making. As I watched she just stuck the steam wand into the bottom of the jug, no foaming or temperature checking, let the milk BOIL and then left in on the machine to steam more while she left it to have a chat. Anyone with the slightest barista knowledge would know that’s the worst thing you can do, I couldn’t drink more than a mouthful after seeing that. When bringing it to their knowledge, they didn’t even know what I meant by the coffee tasting burnt, they just said “Oh like it’s too hot? Sorry. That’ll be £26.25.” Appalling customer service, I had to laugh on my way out or I would have cried. Loud tannoys from the furniture store blaring through the cafe making you jump as well.

This was a post Christmas gift. My friend had booked it for 2.30 as it seems others had too. No tables were reserved so it was a good job it wasn't a busy day, then where would we have sat. Table wear just the same as usual teas. We had to chose one type of sandwich, no mixed fillings. These are always provided in every other afternoon tea I've had! Teapot tiny stainless steel scratched and tatty. Just enough for one and a half cups. I asked for a refill which is always included in the afternoon tea. As we were producing our vouchers at the end, the waitress said there was a bill for the extra tea!!!! This is not how afternoon teas are set up. £17 for one sandwich round, one small scone and three small cakes is disappointing.

I'm extremely disappointed with the cheesecake I ordered at Glasswell in Bury St Edmunds. When it arrived, I was shocked to see that it was already melted and looked like it had been sitting out for hours. The presentation was abysmal - it was sloppily plated and lacked any semblance of care or attention to detail. It was clear that the staff didn't take pride in their work. Needless to say, the melted cheesecake was also unappetizing. I was looking forward to a creamy, rich dessert, but what I got was a sad, soggy mess. For a establishment that claims to serve high-quality food, this experience was unacceptable. I won't be returning to Glasswell anytime soon.

Always a pleasant, popular busy place to eat. Reliable, efficient staff. Tasty food. Pity that they do not offer a full English breakfast.

Nice place for some lunch, clean and tidy, menu is comprehensive enough for most tastes. Good quality and decent size portions, and good value for money. The staff are all very helpful and polite. All in a nice experience x

What an awesome find excellent table service with superb food. Jacket potatoes are huge and the Suffolk ham was beautiful. Good for Sunday roasts too but get in early they are very popular Tea and a great selection of slices and cakes are very popular too.

Bit noisy and very busy. Quite expensive relative to other cafés of similar ilk. Could do with a menu reboot. Have used a few times, was going to eat here but only had a drink as nothing on the menu inspired me or my colleague.

It's a furniture shop with attached cafe, so the atmosphere is never going to be. Anything special, well is it? However, it's not badly priced, no problems at all with the service, which was ex excellent and the products are fine. It's all on one level from shop entrance to cafe so access is good if you have mobility issues.

Not the place to eat!restaurant ran out of food by 2pm whilst advertising they do Sunday roasts til 2.30pm. We were offered soup, baps or lentil ragu. The ragu was dull and bland, no other options for a main meal. Not everybody wants to eat at 1pm on a Sunday, false advertising and disappointing menu. Waitress was lovely despite the fact they really need to review their menu and chef.

Early Eating today. As we was the first customers to use the table I find in inexcusable that the table still had crumbs all over it. The floor was also very sticky also so looks like the cleaning of the area could be improved. Was disappointed to find out there were no All Day Breakfast options on the menu, only a Sausage Bap or Bacon one. Ended up having the Bacon Brie and Cranberry Panini which was ok, and came with a small salad and some crisps. The staff were friendly enough. Didn't try any of the Cakes but looking at how busy the place got they must be good.

Well done finally a dessert I can eat vegan syrup sponge pudding and vegan ice-cream. If you weren't told they were vegan dairy free you wouldn't know. Sponge moist an generous portion vegan ice-cream great texture not gritty. Tastes like a good quality ice-cream. Thanks for the recommendation.

We was given an afternoon tea voucher for Christmas, called on the morning to arrange, very polite lady explained afternoon tea was from 2.30-3.30pm. Went along at 2.30, was seated & served by an exceptionally polite young man called Owen. I must admit we brought the demographic age down significantly as the place was very busy with pensioners, but wow! sandwiches & cake’s fantastic. I would recommend this to any one, any age. Thank you glass wells.

My friend & I had the quiche,salad & new potatoes. We are both cooks - and I would go as far as to say that was the best quiche we'd eaten out ever. Light & fluffy. Divine.

Arrived around 11:30am. No one welcomed us in and just heard a voice say sit where you like. The waitress came over practically as soon as we sat down wanting to take our order. We asked if we could order from the lunch menu and got told no, still 25 minutes to go. Got told Sandwiches or toasties or cakes. There was only 3 cakes on offer. We decided to order a Cheese and Tomato Toastie. It was cold and the cheese certainly hadn't been melted and looked like a watery scrambled egg/baby sick. We tried to get someone's attention to complain but was only 2 waitresses that we could see. Tried several attempts to get a waitress attention but ignored us and carried on cleaning the tables. We left most of the sandwich. A waitress eventually came over to collect our plates and ask was everything ok? We told the waitress we was not happy with the sandwich and tried to complain on many occasions. She said she would speak to her manager. The waitress never came back so we proceeded to the front till to pay. We were then served by a Manager who said we should of complained straight away. We explained we tried too. She then went on to say perhaps the chef put in too much cheese in. Never offered us a discount/gift voucher or say sorry! Left very disappointed with a bill of £23.75. Will not be returning again. Staff look miserable and bored.

Lovely visit to Bury St Edmunds store whilst away at Newmarket

The staff were welcoming and friendly on arrival. I ordered a carrot cake, which was too dry and not very nice. It also had raisins in it which were not mentioned, so it was disappointing. No one came back to the table to ask how the food was, and even when I went to pay, no one asked if everything was OK, so it made it difficult to let them know about the issue. The woman just told me the amount and asked me to tap the card - slightly less friendly than the first member of staff. Although all that a-side, I don't normally order cake here and the other food has always been good.

Good dairy free options with a nice vegan Apricot or Date slice and oat or soya milk options for coffee.

All good, scones were home made made excellent but the coffee is expensive in that it is standard price but the cappuccino and latte comes I vary small cups, tbh even the large was too small for me.

Excellent furniture store, but Extremely long queue for cafe and clostrophobic with the large plastic pens/screen and tables so close together, let's it down.

Came in here yet again for a lovely jacket potato for lunch. Good is always delicious and staff are very friendly. If there's a queue don't walk away. It's worth the wait!

Good place. I had a descent scone, and it was good. The coffee blend was great but for a latte, was a machine like beverage ( you would not expect that for the price). Wife had a milk shake that tasted really artificial, hence the two stars in food.

As a regular customer I used to enjoy visiting. But this time was the final straw, I’ve even commented on the way out about this before. Your sat down, look at the menu, sit and wait, for waitress to go and serve other people that have been sat down long after you have. Today couple couldn’t decide where to sit, finally they chose a table, and waitress had followed them, then asked if they knew what they’d like!! Three occasions now I’ve had similar. So won’t be returning if this is how customers are treated, better system is needed. Wasn’t even busy, two or three tables at most.

Terrible service sat for a while before being told its table ordering. Then took a age for a waitress to take our order. Told they didn't see us, but we had to wait to be seated. Empty restaurant wonder why!

Excellent in store cafe with good variety menu at reasonable prices and daily specials. Easy access with large off road car park. If there is a down side, it's very popular at peak times and you may have to queue. Friendly and efficient staff. Great place to meet friends.

Having an hour or so to kill in Bury St Edmunds my wife and I decided to visit Glasswells cafe for a spot of lunch. We were seated fairly quickly but then seemed to be forgotten about whilst at least 4 other couples who came in after us were seated and served. At this point we got up and left.
