Food well below par in both quality and quantity( lots of red cabbage though). The premises, although freshly decorated by the looks of it , felt cold and empty.

Booked in here to try out the newly re-opened restaurant. We had booked a table for 12.30 but when we arrived the booking had been entered for 1,30. Not a problem as we were the only people there. The restaurant was bright and newly painted but looked a little bare and stark, a few more pictures or plants around the place would brighten it up. We decided to sit in the conservatory as it was a lovely sunny day , but we had a long wait before the waitress came to take our drinks order. It wasn't until she brought these that she then brought a menu for us to look at. It was a small menu of a Sunday lunch option and a couple of other choices and a pizza menu. Again it was a long wait before our starter arrived , the baked brie was good as was the soup but the rolls with it were hard and overcooked and one burnt. Again another wait for lunch, we had all gone for various options of Sunday lunch. It was pretty average, three types of sliced meat , new potatoes & roast potatoes ( TBH it only really needed one type) and veg. It also came with a cauliflower cheese but the sauce was so watery it was like milk and the cauli was quite hard. The meal was ok but not a lot of flavour and we decided not to go for a dessert. The bill was £84 ( which included 3 soft drinks and a glass of wine) which maybe was a little pricy for what it was.. We later heard that they have recently lost their chef so hopefully it may improve with new staff.

Roads End Cafe is a lifesaver at this time of the year, we were on the NC500 and fancied a bite to eat when we got to John o Groats. It is such a basic cafe but still serves hot toasties/sandwiches, soup and small cakes/scones. The lady that served us was lovely, so welcoming and willing to go the extra mile, she even recommended the haggis and cheese toastie which I couldn't turn down. Since it was so quiet, it was takeaway only but she let us sit in due to the gale force winds outside. I have to say the toasties are the best I have had in a while and not even that expensive despite the location, absolutely fantastic. It is a little gem if you're looking for something eat when you reach the most northernly point in Scotland!

Booked a meal deal a month ago. Day before arrival got e mail asking if we wanted to upgrade to a meal deal. Arrived to a big electronic display showing restaurant and meal deal. Told at reception no evening meals available we could have a refund. Very poor. Nearest alternative Morrisons cafe (which had practically nothing on the menue or McDonalds. Ruined our stay .

Bon et pas excessif. Il y a une assez jolie vue si le parking n est pas trop plein. Et le personnel est très sympathique. On a prix deux plats deux boissons et deux desserts pour 53 livres
