Amazing front desk staff. Very kind and helpful. Best stay in fort williams. Would be back.

Its a modest hotel, so you can't expect extremely high standards for the rooms. That said, the service was absolutely excelent. They helped us with everything, gave us advice for hikes etc. They even went all the way out to send us some clothes and boots we forgot in the room. From Scotland to Spain. Can't thank them enough. Right in the heart of Fort William, you can walk anywhere from the hotel. If you are looking for a cheaper option, with incredible service I definitely recommend it!!

Ossians is in a great location - literally the centre of the high street. The place is old and tired, which is fine by me, its just a place to rest our heads ar night. However the worst part was the the smell in our room. It smelt of cats urine, with a really strong smell of ammonia. We eventually realised it was coming from the bathroom so kept the door shut unless using it. There was no ventilation in the bathroom, so it was very difficult to get towels dry. The room itself had mold and damp problems, and it was noisy at night being on the highsteet. I'd say if you have options to go elsewhere do, if not it's fine if you get a room that doesn't smell! It was clean and beds comfortable.

Really nice staff, perfectly located and comfortable beds. Stayed there in a 4 bed room and have no regrets about it.

Couldn't have been a better location for our trip to Fort William. Right in the centre of town close to bars and restaurants. We had a warm welcome from the reception and plenty of knowledge and recommendations on where to go on an evening. As stated by Ossians themselves, the room is basic and serves a simple purpose. The cooking facilities were ideal and meant we could opt to eat in. The only real poor thing was the shower, it was not much more than a dribble falling from the ceiling and meant that I'd actually skip using it and opt for a basin wash instead which was a shame. Bottom line is don't expect a Premier Inn and you'll be just fine! I'd be back to Ossians any time.

Basically a backpackers hotel that's being presented as a regular hotel. Bed OK, but really it's only a place that's in the warm and offers a bed for the night.

THE BEST PLACE TO STAY ! Contrary to the reviews , this placed turned out to be one of our best stays in Scotland. Some of the points mentioned in negative reviews are not existent at all . We loved our 3 days stay

La déco de la chambre à coucher est datée mais la salle de bains et la cuisine ont été refaites. Tout était fonctionnel et propre. Nous sommes venus en famille pour passer une nuit et, finalement, après changement de programme, nous avons décidé de rester une deuxième nuit. Le personnel a été très accueillant et arrangeant.

Direkt im Stadtzentrum gelegen, nahe zum Bahnhof. Sehr gute Betreuung durch den Gastgeber, entspannte Stimmung im Haus. Die Zimmer sind komfortabel mit allem Nötigen ausgestattet, das Bad ist minimalistisch und gewöhnungsbedürftig. In der Hotelhalle kann man bei einem Getränk lesen, plaudern, aber auch selbst mitgebrachte Speisen konsumieren, Getränke können an der Bar gekauft werden.

Basic accommodation for a reasonable price.

The rooms are very basic. That said we needed a room for the night before our 3 Peaks Challenge. The hotel is located on the pedestrianised high street. It can get loud if you're trying to doze off early. If you're not expecting 5 star luxury it'll be fine. Staff were pleasant and friendly enough (didn't interact with them much)

Auberge de jeunesse assez simple, services minimum (pas de cuisine, pas de laverie) mais possibilité d'apporter son repas dans la salle commune. Cela nous a suffit pour 1 nuit (famille avec deux enfants de 6 et 12 ans). Le personnel est très sympathique. Assez cher par rapport aux services, mais c'est une région assez touristique.

Un plaisir de dormir dans ces lits moelleux après 3 jours dans des micro-logdes sur la west highland way. Service au poil avec de très bonnes blagues et personnel arrangeant. Foncez-y !

Hotel war aktuell in Renovation, dadurch Baustelle überall, wurde aber nicht kommuniziert. Zimmer: sehr spärlich eingerichtet, bett gemütlich, teilweise staubig, schmuddliger Teppich (und Zimmer und Hotel) Im Bad: Baustellendusche installiert, schimmel überall, keine Ablagemöglichkeit Schlecht isolierte Fenster und dafurch etwas kalt. Zimmer kann nicht ganz abgedunkelt werden (nordischer Sommer) Lift vorhanden aber sehr alt Preis-Leistungsverhältnis nicht gerechtfertigt. Einzig positives: Mitten im Zentrum von Promenade Fort William, alles Fussläufig erreichbar und der Herr der den Check In durchgeführt hat war super symphatisch.

The sheets were dirty and smelled. The bathroom floor was sticky. I wouldn't reccommend this place. Only thing that was great, was the location, but there are many places with an equally great location, so take one of those.

Although not quite the fanciest hotel in town, it makes up with outstanding value, perfect location but most of all customer service, especially Janice, wonderful attention to detail and 5 star service, thank you.

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was really comfortable. The location is perfect for climbing Ben Nevis. The staff was very friendly. The shower was not so good but it was as advertised so we didn’t expect much.

Would NEVER stay here again. Room was so basic..and for £95 would have expected more . ( we paid £95 the following night further along on our trip and it was complete luxury ). The shower was from the 70's . Room very dull and dingy . Bed wasn't very comfy. And for 'breakfast ' all you are offered is tea and cereals ! We left the room by 8am and waited for Wetherspoons across the road to open at 9 ! Should have realised how awful was going to be when everywhere else was booked up for that night.. but plenty of rooms free at Ossians. Only gave 1 star as no option for 0 stars !!

Right in the centre of Fort William. Lovely stay for a decent price. Rooms and bathrooms were quite small but all in all it got the job done. Hostess was very kind and allowed me to drop off some stuff prior to hiking the WHW.

Leider schon in die Jahre gekommen. Aber sehr freundliches Personal und ganz am Ende vom WHW, weswegen wir hier auch geschlafen haben. Zimmer sind für eine Durchreise völlig ausreichend. Und im Vergleich mit anderen Hotels in Fort William nicht allzu teuer.

My partner and I made a big mistake booking it for a wrong date and 99% hotel was booked out for the night except the most expensive one in the town but the hostess was extremely kind and generous to bless us with a roof over our head and a bed for us to sleep and rest. I would never forget her kind gesture, it's inspiring and makes the trip more beautiful. Because it's not just the place but the people are as beautiful as the town is.

Nice clean room. Good service from staff. Location was good. It's in middle of Main Street so it's easy to find places to visit. Bus and Train Station is only 5-10 minutes away from Hotel

Janice is the true Queen of the North, her palace is the last (or first) homely house of the Highlands. Appearances never disguised its worth as a public asset

I enjoyed my stay in this small hotel. Room came in a good size, with microwave, fridge and water boiler (with coffee and tea). The bed was really cosy! There is a small bathroom, which brings me to the reason why I give 4 stars only. The shower… the showerhead comes out of the ceiling and there is absolutely no pressure. I have thin hair, but it took me minutes to get them wet. Anyway, I would stay there again. Staff is really nice and helpful.

The location was the best thing about this spot. Very run down hotel for £95 pounds a night! Totally not worth what we got. We slept over there one night, I could feel the springs in the bed and overhear anyone walking through the hall.

Great Value for money! Rooms were clean and provides you with everything you need, including kitchenette, tv and USB chargers. Would recommend.

Friendly staff and central spot but other than that, there aren’t many positives. The price is ridiculously expensive considering the very low standard of room. The breakfast consisted of cereal in plastic containers. If this was priced at £40-50 per night I wouldn’t be writing a review but this is a rip off.

The location was very convenient and the hotel staffs were lovely, but the hotel itself was just disappointing in many ways I’m afraid. They need a lot of work to make it to ££90 a night hotel, or at least should include a decent continental breakfast.

It's a no frills hotel but worth it when you need a place to stay. Easy walking to restaurants. Parking is in nearby public lot.

Buena situación en la calle central y nada de ruido con ventanas bien aisladas. Preciosas vistas al lago desde la habitación nuestra abuhardillada. Dotación completa tipo apartamento con frigorífico, microondas, etc (kitchenette) con puerta para no molestar. Mucha datación de almacenaje (armario, cómoda, escritorio y cajones bajo cama). El ascensor no sube hasta la 3° Planta, pero las escaleras son muy amplias. Muy buen WiFi y código para entrada nocturna. La recepción es también el salón bar amplio y cómodo. El personal muy amable y eficiente. Regalo de una lámina, a elegir, de personajes escoceses. La única pequeña pega, que no tenía perchas en el armario. En resumen, la familia muy satisfecha.

Felt like I was staying at the Cecil Hotel, horrible to find - entrance is up a small ancient lift, very outdated and very thin walls I feel it deserves 2 stars as the one staff member we met on the overnight was nice and the rooms were pretty clean the area around the hotel doesn't help with the atmosphere either. Also very overpriced for what it was. Wouldn't recommend when there is a Premier Inn 5 minutes away.

Seems I'm a bit of a a five star guy in most reviews...that's because most places I visit are just so. A warm welcome..an upgrade on arrival. A lovely lady to greet me. A lovely bar man to serve me a beer. Location is bang on for everything FW has to offer. I slept very well and woke refreshed. A hot shower started the day.. This place does exactly as it advertises.. Perfect for hikers and for folk not looking for posh overpriced places. I will return for sure...

Slept here after the west highland way. Staff is super super friendly , but the rooms are a bit outdated and shower did barely work. The place is clean but just not worth the price we payed. (110 pound) Had much better showers on campsites on trail haha

Poorly maintained and outdated facilities. Very old windows (cold, more or less no noise cancellation), which is a problem if you want to find some rest next to all the restaurants and bars. No recommendation.

Where do I start from? - Location is actually central and everything you need is close by - carpet is clearly taken from a horror film set. It would probably benefit from a replacement or at least a hoovering. - en suite toilet doesn't have a sink, the sink is located in the room. - noise isolation is so bad you will hear every single person on the high street - the bed is the worst I have slept in. Got a bad back pain after a single night. Now if the price was 50-60 pounds I probably could have stomached all this, but 95 pounds is definitely too much. Avoid if you can.

This Atypical hotel is very well placed at the core of Fort William. The rooms have a Swedish style, very handy, and clean. Even though it's an old building, this place is very charming. We loved it!

we have been staying at ossians hotel for over 14 years and each year twice , and everything is great there , the price , the location is great the staff is great and the hotel is clean and tidy , is the best place

Bedroom with a kitchen sink and a microwave inside, very handy.

AVOID ROOM 301 whose bathroom and bedroom reeked of sewage, at least on 15th September. A complaint was answered by "It can't ... someone stayed there last night". Bedroom walls paper thin. In all respects this is the worst 'hotel' I have yet experienced.

Me and my friends got held hostage by the owner because we got lost and the hotel is creepy so we screamed and we got locked in a room for 45mins while the owner shouted at us and took photos do not recommend this hotel it’s not worth your time !!!!

I would just like to say ignore all the negative reviews on here . First the staff are mint , friendly and jovial and for the first time in my life anywhere and I’ve stayed all over ,I stayed in a had a few drinks at their(?) bar . 8am they offer coffee and cereal , they don’t have to but they do .they gave me a guide of what to do in the area too , and on my last day there they let me keep my luggage there after checkout until it was ready to go , not many places do that The rooms aren’t 5star but they do have a website people and pictures outside , they are what they are , they are clean and I personally found nothing wrong with anything it’s just a bit mish mash and not uniform but that’s probably me being a bit OCD I slept better in their bed than I have at my own at home and I had a great view over the loch to wake up to. I’m popping back up in a few weeks and I’ll definitely be staying there again hopefully if they let me back in 😂 And I would personally like to thank the evening staff for being cool 😎 keep up the good work peeps x

One of the worse nights we had yesterday. Mattress spring keeps moving and making noise the whole night. Two old unfriendly women were at the reception. No Service at all compares to others hotels. The window was broken; the whole night cold wind came through the window.

Personally we found no redeeming characteristics at this 'hotel' The interior was extremely outdated, seemly not changed since the '90s. The carpet has not been cleaned in at least a decade, just a strong musk & dust smell that if you have asthma I would strongly avoid this place. The bed is old, loud and has long lost any support it once had, my back was shot after one night. If you are looking for a good nights sleep before attempting Ben Nevis, this is not the place. The bathroom is basic to fit the theme, a freestanding shower cubicle that resembles being in a washing machine, water pressure was surprisingly good though. The toilet is ok, but no proper toilet paper just squares of single ply out of a dispenser, sets the mood for your stay. There is little to no sound proofing in the room, normally not an issue but because you are on the high street you will hear every drunk person coming out of the pub. The location is pretty good, located in the center of town close to some nice places to eat and close enough to the car park. The staff were very pleasant when we arrived and they definitely pull the weight for the hotel stay. Overall... Avoid!! But if you was a cheap hostel stay, and don't care about comfort, smell, sleep, cleanliness and toilet paper...then sure. But your parked car might be a better sleep.

Experienced in 2018. Because of rainy weather there was connection problems and our phone couldnt reach to anyone at the beginning of the Ben Nevis about 6 Pm. Then we try to call the hotel. We were lucky to see that our call is going ok but the reception diddnt take the call. We found a way to go to the hotel somehow. Then next morning I asked why there is a reception if no one is answering the phone to a lady who sits at the reception. She gave me a respond with a bad attitude. There is an insufficient breakfast and really bad beds in the room. The room also wasnt clean either.

Not sure why I need to give one star because I couldn't find one positive aspect of that shoebox of a room, even if searched my brain for weeks. The room was the same as it probably was 30 years ago, just not as new as then. Everything is grubby and I was tempted to use my sleeping bag in the bed, which had screeching metal springs and made a lot of noise every time I turned. The bathroom was a joke, with no hangers for the towels or actually any place for anything. I know that 50 quid is inexpensive, but that doesn't justify the condition of the place. Ah, just found my star: the view through the smeared window was quite nice.

Staff are pleasant, but the accommodation is grubby and basic. The bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on - lumpy and noisy. Really expensive for what you get.

Stayed one night in a twin room as I was climbing Ben Nevis the next morning. For a budget hotel, I thought it was very good. The solo staff member was very polite and accessible until 2am, the hotel and rooms were all very run-down but clean, hygienic & more amenities than expected were provided (hand & bath towels, bath mats, shower gel, etc.). Would definitely recommend for a budget one- or two-night stay, though probably not any more than that! Lost one star as it was more expensive than it should've been, in my opinion.

Stayed here for 2 nights with a group of other hill walkers to tackle Ben Nevis. Decor is very outdated. The place was borderline dirty. Carpets are old and smelly. Dirty in part. We paid 88 pounds per person for 2 nights which in hindsight is very expensive for what you get. In one of the rooms, there was no shower which was very disappointing and actually very annoying. Pros -Very good central location in Fort William -Free breakfast which we didn't avail of -Working TV in each room -Beds fairly comfortable -Staff fairly pleasant -Free car parking Cons -No shower in my room. The shower in the other room was old, lacking power and very difficult to get warm water -Windows very difficult to close -Very old lounge who sold drinks but actually didnt sell a pint of beer when one of my party wanted one Overall, disappointing for the price. If they lowered their prices it might be a better offering. I dont think I would stay here again based on my personal experience and the experience of others in my party

Musty, old smelling hotel which is more like a hostel. Lots of road noise if you open the windows, which you will need to during the summer time as there's no air conditioning. Not worth the money they charge. That said, the location is hard to beat and the rooms seem clean with no bedbugs. No parking was available for our stay but the nearby public lots are cheap and allow free overnight parking.

Nous avons séjourné dans cet hotel de 5 au 8 avril. Certes Ossian's hotel est vieillissant, mais pour un prix modique, l'essentiel y était : chambre confortable, propre, bien chauffée.Des boissons chaudes à disposition gratuitement toute la journée. La dame qui nous a accueillis était agréable.Certaines critiques semblent injustifiées, on ne peut pas exiger un petit déjeuner copieux pour un tarif modeste.

Very friendly staff and super clean. The furniture looks like it has been there for 60 years. Which probably is the case. There is breakfast provided, but only cornflakes with milk, so that's a nice option if you're on a budget, but would sure not recommend otherwise. Overall would recommend for backpackers searching for a basic hotel, but sure not if you're searching a bit luxury.

Worst hotel ever. Holes in the wall, window broken, very old fashioned and not too clean. Heating stoppe& working in the middle of the night. Matras needed to be renewed like 10 years ago. Breakfast is only cornflakes.

Very old but was clean. Genuine 60s decor. The deer patterened carpet in the halls was quite cute.

Stayed here for 2 nights for the second time in a month. Staff very lovely. Very Clean room and lovely comfy beds. It’s very central in the town, so close all shops, restaurants and pubs. Definitely would stay here again soon 😃.

Only good things are : affordable and owners are friendly . The room we got was old looking , the sink was in the room next to the bed which made noises if someone else was using it in other rooms . I'm guessing they were connected somehow. The bed was alright . Overall it wasn't horrible , but it was the worst place I've been .

The Wi-Fi barely works on the third floor; it constantly connects and then disconnects.

If you are not looking for 3 star + service it is good. It needs a lot of work as getting tired looking, but it's decent enough for bed, breakfast(very basic) and a hot shower - although the shower is very very basic too.

Great hotel covering all basic needs, friendly staff & nice atmosphere!

The place (we had a double room) was quite dirty, corners of the carpet probably never vacuumed, toilet seat was dirty. Would not recommend anyone without bringing their own sleeping bags.

Avec les commentaires précédents, nous étions préparés. ... En effet les chambres sont extrêmement vétustes, la literie inconfortable, la douche capricieuse... Par contre nous n'avons subi aucune nuisance sonore et grâce à la bouilloire de la chambre et la proximité des commerces nous avons pu nous réaliser un petit déjeuner satisfaisant. Il est certain qu'en France pour ce prix nous aurions pu prétendre à un meilleur confort, mais les prix pratiqués en Écosse étant tellement prohibitifs que nous étions bien heureux de trouver un logement à ce prix!

El agua de la ducha no salía muy caliente y la tele era pequeña y vieja, por lo demás todo bien.

El recepcionista nos ayudó muchísimo!
