The Pipers' Tryst Restaurant in Glasgow City

I was here for 1 week for my studies. The room is big enough for me and the sanitary facilities are clean. The waiters and also the cleaning ladies were very friendly. A huge compliment to the kitchen, I have a lot of allergies and the chef made my own breakfast every day, as well as lunch and dinner. All you have to do is let the waiters know, they then talk to the chef and he offers you all the possible options. That's really good service! Thanks!

Lovely room, close to the centre

Leuk, kleinschalig hotel op loopafstand van het centrum en vlakbij Buchanan busstation. Het hoort bij het doedelzakken-museum en heeft een restaurantje waar je 's ochtend kunt ontbijten. Ruime, schone kamer met overal Schotse ruitjes :)! Het personeel is heel vriendelijk en het hotel is prima geschikt voor als je alleen reist. Mocht ik weer in Schotland komen (en dat ben ik van plan), dan kom ik hier zeker weer terug.

We enjoyed a Burns lunch in a smaller function room which was perfect for our needs. The staff were wonderful and attentive and the food excellent.

After our last visit, where we very impressed with the value and quality of the food, we were disappointed on this occasion to find that the food had gone downhill. We felt that there was a change in the quality and tastiness of the food between our two visits. However, the restaurant had distanced all the tables well and all staff were trying to maintain distancing.

Tuvimos una excelente comida antes del teatro, el personal nos cuidó muy bien y quedamos muy impresionados con la comida. Really enjoyed our pre-theatre meal. The cheese starter had a beautiful taste and the lamb was cooked to perfection. The sticky toffee pudding was light and the coffee was tasty. The menus had a lot of choice. Service was pleasant and tables were not too close to each other. It was quite busy (Thursday) so advisable to book; I suppose it depends if there is anything on in the theatre opposite.

I had a late change of plan and dropped into this restaurant on spec just before noon so bagged a window table which proved a mixed blessing because it was very hot in the sun even on a day when it was snowing. The heaters were on too high. Otherwise this place was fantastic and the service is stand out and would shame many Michelin restaurants in London. Attention to detail was incredible.Just go, and no moaning please...

From the moment we arrived we were given good service. Pleasant staff, offering advice. We both opted for fish and chips which were delicious. Nice sized helping. We both then followed up with clothier dumpling and whisky ice cream.....mmm lush.

Small intimate restaurant with interesting menu choices situated near the Theatre Royal. We were not rushed and the staff were extremely friendly. The food is excellent quality and well presented and flavoursome. We have eaten here several times and I would highly recoomend it.

Starter of Garlic Mushrooms hubby had crab and avocado salad very amazing just the right amount main was outstanding I had one of the specials lamb shank beautifully tender melt in the mouth, hubby had Fish and Chips fish was whale size chips were hand cut and looked wonderful forced ourselves to have desserts both outstanding, staff were very attentive without being "in your face"

We walked over for breakfast from our hotel and loved it. My Mother in law could stop raving about the smoked salmon. The best part was the waitress took extra time to chat with my daughter and didn’t mind her asking questions about the pictures of pipers on the wall

This was one of our favorite restaurants on our trip. I would have gone back a second time but discovered they were closed on Sunday evenings. Typical Scottish food which was nice to try. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

Three of us meet, once a month, for lunch. We take turns to chose the venue and I wish this had been my choice! Superb food and a great selection of beers. Service was efficient and friendly.

Shocking! Advertised two for one, nowhere did it say that could only be redeemed after 7. Just poor, very poor.

Visited this restaurant with a colleague for a pre-theatre dinner. I had superb fish and chips and decent glass of Malbec. This is quite a small venue so would be worth booking.

We booked a group of friends in for the Piping Experience and a meal last night. I have to say I was impressed with the event, the service and the quality of the food. we had a brilliant evening were well fed and had a drop or two of the hard stuff, all on a very reasonable budget and everyone left happy. It was my first time in Glasgow and I was only there for one night. I was staying at the hotel and so looked on trip advisor for local restaurants, lots coming up and then I saw how highly the hotel restaurant was rated and checked out the menu. I found lots of dishes I fancied trying and as the reviews were so great I thought I would give it a go. I am so chuffed I didn’t go out and explore the restaurants in Glasgow as this little gem was right under my nose. The service was attentive, relaxed, polite, friendly - just perfect. Young woman, early twenties, short blonde hair served me for the hotel and restaurant section and I cannot recommend her enough. Top service and to top it off, the food was INCREDIBLE! I had the chilli cauliflower soup, haggis neeps and tatties tacos, side of mac and cheese and some fries...delicious. Music in the restaurant was lovely and I really couldn’t recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Small restaurant with attentive service, good atmosphere and piped Scottish music in the background (not obtrusive). Food very good tasty cullen skink and rib eye steak perfectly cooked. Ideal for Theatre Royal opposite.

Haven’t been to The Pipers for a couple of years and thought I would reserve a table as a Birthday treat for my wife. Were we disappointed not at all. The service, food and staff were excellent. Highly recommend.

Lovely restaurant opposite the Theatre Royal. Perfect location. Clean, modern and nicely Scottish decor. Good menu. Only stopped for an excellent cappuccino (with shortbread) but will return for lunch. Friendly and helpful staff.

We found this little restaurant before visiting the theatre. Food was freshly prepared and served and the staff were friendly and attentive. We chose smoked haddock served with black pudding and poached egg with a hollandaise sauce and macaroni with bacon and onions - both delicious. We then had sticky toffee pudding and lemon meringue with cream served in a water basket. The menu has lots of nice dishes to suit all tastes.

Done here twice in space of a few days. In both cases the food & service was exemplary. Good to find somewhere in Glasgow that actually serves good Scottish dishes to a really high standard. My ‘Fraserburgh Fish Supper’ & ‘Cranachan’ could not be faulted 1st time round; as was my ‘Grilled Pollock’ & ‘Scottish Raspberries & Strawberries’ on the 2nd occasion.

Ordered from the reasonably priced Market Menu - 3 courses for £17.95 - great welcome, jackets taken and hung up, shown to table and waitresses very attentive even although the restaurant was full. Food was piping hot and plates hot too. Food was very tasty and well presented. Can't wait to go back again.

A dinner for 24 was well catered for at the Pipers Tryst. Close to the city centre it was handy for transport links. The food was superb and the friendly efficient service from the staff made this a memorable experience.

Nos alojamos por 5 noches en el hotel 'Tryst, Pipers y comimos dos veces allí - el primero, por curiosidad, y el segundo porque nos dimos cuenta de esto fue la mejor comida que habíamos tenido en Glasgow! I was with a large group touring Scotland in May. After a tour of the Piping Center we had reservations at the Tryst Restaurant. The menu was perfect for our first evening in this lovely country. I ordered the goats cheese salad with toasted pine nuts and honey. It was very fresh and tasty. Second course was the pan roasted chicken in mushroom sauce with potatoes and green beans. Again, it was great. Then for dessert was the traditional cranachan. Never pass up an opportunity for this delicious treat.

Eigentlich bin ich nur per Zufall auf dieses Restaurant gestossen, da es unweit vom Hotel entfernt liegt. Schottische Küche mit modernem Einfluss klang sehr vielversprechend auch wenn ich nicht ganz verstanden habe, ob das nun ein Hotel, eine Dudelsack-Schule, ein Veranstaltungsort, ein Vereinslokal oder wirklich ein normales Restaurant ist. Irgendwie schien es dann etwas von allem zu sein, die vielen Einheimischen im und Rund um das Lokal, sowie die sehr nette Bedienung veranlasste mich hier zu bleiben. Eigentlich gab es überhaupt nichts auszusetzen, das Essen war sehr gut und auch mit Sorgfalt fürs Auge schön angerichtet. Auch am Gaumen eine Freude und der Service ebenfalls toll.

We have visited here twice recently and loved it both times. Great and very varied menu that is suitable for meat eaters and vegetarians. I particularly enjoyed the Cullen skink, which is a thick and creamy fish soup. Just across the road from the Theatre Royal so ideal for a pre-theatre pit stop. Food not cheap but not overly expensive and well worth the price.

This was our first stop upon landing in Glasgow, and we enjoyed a nice breakfast with incredible service. There is parking on the side street, but also a parking garage not too far from the restaurant/hotel. The restaurant is connected to the National Piping Centre.

This is a little known secret. Next to the pipers school, A bit out of the way from the main areas of Glasgow city shopping streets but only a 5 minutes walk from the theater area. The food was excellent and I can not fault...

We had a family birthday lunch in this charming restaurant. Between our group we have visited 4 or 5 times. The menu is always well thought out , food beautifully cooked and presented and the restaurant is warm and captures just the right tone of “Scottishness “ without falling into “twee”.

Being active in the pipe band scene this building of the National Piping Centre would have invited me anyway, but the quality of the restaurant was a positive surprise. Scottish classics like Cranachan and Haggis were served with a good dose of love for cooking from the kitchen, utterly satisfying my palate, craving for Scottish kitchen. Service was super-friendly in the good Scottish manner and while eating a delicious dinner (don't forget seafood, we are near the coast here!) you just might catch a glimpse of a superstar piper either staring at you from a photograph on the wall or from a table next to you..

Food was delicious, service great, mid range price. Very busy therefore recommend you book. Good selection of drinks and wines.

I have had the pleasure of eating here many times, and also working here many moons ago, I loved it, and the standard of food keeps getting better and better. The staff are so amazing and cheerful and cannot do enough. I also had my wedding here in March and a wonderful day was had by allCannot recommend the Pipers Tryst enough to everyone if you like lovely Scottish food and some lovely smiley faces then pop over !

Great food. Great service. Just as good as when we married here 5 years ago. Showed the kids where it all first started and they were just as happy. Very friendly atmosphere. Would highly recommend the Scottish fair from the market menu as it tasted delicious.

We had both a lunch and a dinner at the Pipers Tryst Restaurant. I had the Cullen Skink and my husband had the BLT with chips (fries) for lunch. Both were outstanding. We had an equally fine dinner with a great fun and tonic and delicious deserts. The staff are friendly and helpful and the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food.

Went with friends, great food and very friendly, helpful staff, who went out of their way to help us find the fabric shop we were looking for. Will be back next time we visit Glasgow!
