The Pierhead Tavern in North Ayrshire

Visited for evening meals last week when staying in Lamlash for the week. Super staff, great menu and specials board. Really accommodating for dogs too. Best to book in advance as a popular pub. I had thai curry on both occasions- first with chicken and 2nd time with king prawns, lovely presentation and delicious. Good range of drinks at the bar, live music on our 2nd visit which was really good. Great atmosphere. We always visit for meals during our stays in Lamlash and will continue to do so. Have a great season and keep up the great work and service!

Visited here after reading positive reviews online, and we weren’t disappointed. Had a lovely meal and we were really impressed with the service - waiting staff were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. They were happy to make adjustments for our fussy kids. Food was delivered in good time and was excellent quality. Atmosphere was pleasant, just like a good local pub should be!

Went for a bite of lunch after exploring the island - we were lucky and got to sit outside which was nice - and managed to sit out with the dog.

Lovely cosy wee pub that were very accommodating to our group who visited two nights in a row due to being stranded by poor weather. Great food and nice atmosphere.

Had a lovely meal yesterday in the Pierhead Tavern. Cannot thank them enough for being so friendly and welcoming. The young man who served us was so friendly and fun and really made the visit for us. So much so we have booked in again to bring family who are visiting. We ordered from the light lunch menu which was amazing and my wee boy rated the chips and cheese five star 😂. A great value for money with food and drinks and just an all round lovely place. Toilets were very clean which was welcoming too. X

Hi we never actually went here and I’m sure it’s a fab place but we phoned to ask if they had the Scotland vs wales rugby game they replied “there’s no one in at the moment so we won’t be showing it but if you call back nearer the time we might put it on” we were stunned but went along to the fallen goat at brodick and spent the afternoon having food and drinks then watched the rugby spent well over £100 had a great time. It just seems like they couldn’t be arsed with us to be fair nothing against the place or whatever but just thought I’d write a wee review as it was a bit annoying at the time.

The service was amazing. No complaints at all. But the food on the other hand… not good at all. I had the hunter’s burger and there was one single carrot peeling in it, obviously not supposed to be there, the chicken was so dry and the flavor was non enjoyable. My friend had the chicken and haggis. The chicken wasn’t cooked properly and the cally sauce didn’t taste nor look anything like cally sauce. We also order chips and cheese as we were still hungry after not being able to eat our meals. Just looking at the waitresses face, we knew we were gonna be disappointed yet again. The waitress made eye contact with me and didn’t look proud of what she was putting down at all. The chips were black on top and the cheese was burnt. I ended up taking these off the bill as this was the last straw. Definitely not giving this place another chance!

Marvellous location overlooking Holy Isle at Lamlash. Beautiful garden, great ,really tasty food and friendly ,efficient staff. Music on sunday afternoons currently complying with Covid regulations.A great dining and relaxing experience.31/12/23.Just spent new year here doing 2 gigs.Superb as ever great food and a great new year party.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Lamlash, Isle of Arran Frequented the Pierhead on 3 occasions, cracking pint of Guinness 🍻👍🏻 The quiz was thoroughly, if not a little difficult for us. Don is a very pleasant and entertaining quizmaster 🤩

Food excellent, service very lacking in attention. Music didn't add to the experience. We went in had to re order our water, gave our food order, got food, which was great, ordered dessert, cranachan which was tiny, bit of cream a few oats, no taste of whisky, a couple of raspberries, served in a small martini glass pretty poor for one of Scotlands great dishes.

Location is great and food was excellent. Try their burger with Hagis as we ate dinner here twice. Fish and Chips; a staple, was exceptional too. We were welcomed and the place had a nice vibe.

Arrived on time but a table had to be set up near the door, through from kitchen, very busy spot. We were told later that a large booking arrived over an hour late and had affected later bookings. Food was good and service staff were very helpful and attentive.

Quite disappointing, Miserable and rude staff....paid cash for my overpriced meal and was ushered off to a different till that accepts cash, apparently, asked for receipts, as you do....unhappy bar staff screaming 'oh my god' and was ushered back to first till so it could be printed. Food OK Beer OK...dirty glasses. Chilly building. Frosty environment. Expensive for what it is.....

We stopped here for a pint and bite to eat one lunchtime whilst on holiday. Lovely beer (Loch Lomond brewery), lovely sandwich, friendly staff and very dog friendly. It's a shame we didn't have the opportunity to come back for an evening. Highly recommended.

Holidaying on Arran, 2nd visit and just as good as last year! The food is amazing, restaurant standard, plenty of choice and good options on childrens menu, highly recommended

We popped in here after a hike up to the waterfalls, and Giants grave it has amazing vies of the harbour and holy island We only had a couple of drinks and loaded fries, and the fries were amazing. i had the Tandoori ones, and my friends had the pizza ones.

Of all the meals we ordered the vegan hamburger left me scratching my head! It was plain and very disappointing. Service was really poor as it was busy and they were understaffed. All our other meals were fantastic though.

Such a great place to eat and drink. Eaten twice over the last week at the PHT while staying in Lamlash. We had a party of 10 and accommodated us without a problem, the service was fantastic so friendly and food was great. Highly recommend if you are looking for a place to eat or drink..👍🏻👏🏻

We've come here three times, in three days (twice for dinner, once just for drinks). That says enough. Great food, friendly people, nice atmosphere and nice whisky selection!

Lovely family friendly pub, great pub food lovely atmosphere, staff very friendly, roof top sitting area and outside seating area, we preferred to eat inside as cooler inside than out.

I have been to Arran for nearly 40 years. This is the first time I have visited in 5 years. If you had said to me go to the PHT I would have said no. However we gave it a chance as we hadn’t booked anywhere this week. OMG! How a place can change. The staff were brilliant. The food was the best I have tasted on the island this time around and the pricing was good. If you want a friendly place with good food this is currently the place on Arran to be! We ate out a lot during our week holiday but this is the only place we have booked twice. If in doubt this is the place to be!!

Lovely choice in menu. Glad I chose the green Thai curry as it was delicious!. The atmosphere was very relaxed and child and dog friendly!

My husbands food was good but mine wasn't so good

Excellent food, great service, good prices. Trip Advisor does it again, recommendations and reviews were spot on. After a day exploring the island we were hungry and wanted nice food in a relaxing location we were not disappointed. Staff were brilliant very attentive even bring some water for our dog who was in need of some refreshment too! The food was superb, good portion sizes which met out hearty appetites, I can’t remonetisation highly enough, if you are in Arran and what great food in a brilliant location go no further.

Lovely place to eat dinner in Lamlash. The view from the Tavern is beautiful with Holy Island in the background. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly throughout the dinner service. The food was delicious, fresh and cooked to order. There is a public car park opposite the Tavern. The portion sizes are large and good value for money. The drinks can be expensive, but this is an island location! Staff were attentive. We will visit this Tavern again.

Brilliant meal just slow food service.

Fantastic food in a relaxed atmosphere. Although this is a pub it was a great place to have an evening meal, service and portions sizes were outstanding.

The food was good, and the service impeccable. But I did not like the volume of the music, as it made people talking louder, till the point that it was not pleasant.

We love this pub, but the entertainment hired for Saturday night 29th July, was absolutely awful. A dirge laden collection of songs that actually started to empty the pub way too early. And speaking to regular visitors, Saturday entertainment has been similarly poor of late. Whoever's responsible for hiring performers, please try and get some artists that can actually entertain and bring some joy to your clientele.

Probably the nicest place I went to eat and drink while in Arran. Great atmosphere, real ales on draft, and the Saturday live music is brilliant. I had the pepperoni pizza burger and it was pretty decent, definitely not the best burger I’ve had but definitely not the worst. Food portion sizes are good, proper pub grub. Went for a drink twice and stayed to dine once. Staff are friendly, and prices are reasonable. If you go, try to go on a Saturday night as you’ll be treated to a few hours of great music.

We visited for lunch as a family of four plus our dog. We were all made very welcome by the lovely waiting staff. There was a great selection of meals available, and everything we ordered was delicious. We will definitely return when we visit Arran...

A nice pub to stop off for a pint and some food, a good selection available from the menu, including Fish n chips, pies, pizza, burgers, pasta and curries. I opted for the Dirty fries, with tandoori chicken, mozzarella cheese and feugo taki flavour, they were nice and spicy too. My friend went for Nduja sausage pasta and we both enjoyed our food, great friendly service too.

Wow, this was a nice surprise! Pleasant atmosphere, cost pub with some people at the bar and nice restaurant with two nice ladies as waitresses. We had the green curry. It was nice and creamy, had some spuce and there were sime good vegetables and juicy chicken in it and the fish and chips. The fish had a good crunchy crust and the chips were crunchy too. The kids had cheesy chips and chips and pizza which they both loved. And then the chocolate fudge cake, that was lovely. The only thing that could have been better was the Brussels waffle. In my opinion it should have been warm. All in all I would highly recommend the Pierhead Tavern.

The food was excellent here and the servings were very generous. Service was great too - friendly and attentive. Nice ambience as well in a beautiful location on the foreshore.

Went for dinner back in April and the food was amazing, great choice of menu such as fresh cheesy dough balls, the Loaded Tikka fries and a great duck bowl Went last month and honestly don't know if they've changed chefs but the dough balls...

Didn't eat this time but we found this wonderful pub just off the main Brodick road. Great staff. Good choice of beer. Then there's the whiskey. It's Arran time.

Loved it! Went there two nights for dinner, and quiz night second night. Very friendly, welcoming, food very tasty and served nicely. Staff are very helpful .Quiz night was fun, despite the fact we were not great! Quite expensive, but we didn't mind.

Lovely meal with family. Service great with waitress recommendations of food spot on. Dog welcomed and also provided with water on arrival. Portions generous and quality of food superb.

THE local place to eat and drink in Lamlash. Tasty crossover food and great location. That said, service was slow, waiters did not know the menu and the bar, what to say. Plenty of whiskey and gin but the bartender(s) did not have a clue...

Over priced, wee starter portion, less than I would feed a 2 year old, over cooked. I had the chicken tikka kebabs ( smallest Ive ever seen) onion and corriander badji so over cooked I would not eat them, my partner had the plain chicken...

Nice pub with a lovely view from the terrace. Some nice beers and friendly staff. I had fish and chips which was OK and my wife had a chicken burger which she said was awful, so food not fantastic.

Ein Glücksgriff, waren dreimal dort zum Essen. Die Gerichte sind sehr lecker, die Auswahl ordentlich. Preislich liegt alles im schottischen Normalbereich, also leicht über dem deutschen Niveau. Bedienung ist sehr freundlich, die Wartezeit ziemlich kurz. Gute Getränkeauswahl auch, es gibt eine Dachterrasse oder man sitzt vor dem Pub/Restaurant oder natürlich drinnen. Reservierung wird empfohlen, da Arran nicht sooo reichlich mit Restaurants bestückt ist (etliche haben ein oder sogar zwei Tage in der Woche geschlossen). Parkplätze gibt es direkt gegenüber. Toiletten sind auch in Ordnung.

Schönes Restaurant mit gutem Essen, einem guten Preis- Leistungsverhältnis und nettem Personal. Reservierung ist hier von Vorteil.

We recently visited the beautiful Isle of Arran, as our ferry back was a late one we decided to have something to eat before returning. Many places turned us away without hesitation as we didn't have a booking. But, the lovely gent behind the bar at the Pierhead Tavern said he could squeeze us in, but had reservations arriving shortly. We didn't mess about with ordering, two Fish and Chips and for me a Dirty Burger with Haggis, Black Pudding and Peppercorn Sauce. Within a few minutes our food arrived. Fish & Chips looked great but what really stood out was the Dirty Burger - it was AMAZING! So much so the others wanted a taste too! When we come back, we will visit again! Thank you so much.

Wir hatten einen wundervollen Abend hier, es gab live Musik, das ist sb und an wohl dort so und war sehr schön! Die Bedienung war super nett und sehr schnell, wir mussten nie lange warten. Unser Hund war nicht nur erlaubt, sondern ausdrücklich willkommen, was sehr schön war. Das Essen war auch sehr lecker, da ist für jeden etwas dabei. Wir kommen nochmal wieder! It was a great evening at Pierhouse Tavern, the service was really excellend, so friendly and very fast, never had to wait for a long time. We liked a Lot that our dog not just was "accepted", but was very welcome. Food was also very good, we like to come back.

The atmosphere was quite nice and waitresses were friendly but the food was really sub-par, especially for the price. I had the burger and would say it was barely edible, a freezer mass produced burger patty with some fatty bacon and a bit of cheese, I didn't enjoy it and it cost £17. My husband had the thai green curry and again, it wasn't great. Overall very expensive for little pleasure.
