Si! in North Ayrshire

I was visiting my family in Perceton for a week and took my granddaughter there for a late lunch, as a treat, because I hadn’t seen her since February. We both chose the waffles option. I went for the bacon and she went for the buttermilk. My meal was almost cold, the waffles were dry, the bacon was more like cardboard, neither undercooked, nor overcooked and crispy, just dry, like strips of leather, certainly not newly cooked for me and I'd stake my reputation that the maple syrup was not maple syrup, but maple flavoured syrup which was much too sweet to be pure! My granddaughter's chicken was dry and over-fried - it actually looked burned - and when she tried to cut it the breadcrumbs flaked off in chunks and she struggled to cut through the tiny thin piece of chicken hidden inside each piece, as it was so tough (buttermilk chicken is supposedly marinated to tenderise it!!). Had I been asked at any time by the staff if the meal was OK, I would have enlightened them, but nobody bothered, not something I encounter very often nowadays as customer satisfaction is (or should be) important! At least the young man who served us was very polite and pleasant, but never at any time when he visited to clear our table, both plates still having food left on them, nor when I went to pay the bill did he ask if we'd enjoyed our meal. So all in all £27.20 was too much to pay for such disappointing food. The photo attached is what my granddaughter left on her plate, which is basically all the overcooked, rock hard breadcrumbs and I tried some of her chicken because my 3 pathetic rashers of bacon were so bad. And you can see part of the 2 quarters of waffle I left on my plate! I don't normally leave bad reviews, but this visit just left me so angry and disappointed!

We had a great delicious meal and both service and environment were top class. Definitely recommend visiting Potting shed and will be back again.

Unfortunately wasn't the best, the positives - really lovely venue, music was brilliant, the DJ was really good . The not so greats .the food was good but unfortunately it was almost cold, the heaters underneath the food trays weren't on. The pancakes and french toast got restocked as soon as we had sat down, plates were tiny, again after we sat down they brought bigger plates out. It was cold in the venue or certainly where we were sitting, then the air con also came on and it was freezing. We did ask to get this switched off, which they did. Cocktail choice was really limited. We did go downstairs twice to pay for a cocktail of our choice but on the 3rd occasion they refused for health & safety reasons as someone else had smashed a glass. I ordered a coffee for my friend at our bar, which was brought up the stairs..so it's ok to bring a hot drink up but not a cold one? We booked this in July with no mention it was Halloween themed, would have been good to have been told this at the time or even in the reminder email. Was really looking forward to the day but don't think we will do again. Will stick to downstairs as it's always lovely in The Potting Shed.

Great value on bogo burger night!

Afternoon tea was lovely but staff were not very attentive we had to seek them out 3 times to ask for cutlery, tea & a drink which we had ordered on booking.

Can't praise this restaurant enough. Plenty parking, excellent staff, wonderful food. Very clean and pretty

Went in for breakfast place is lovely orders the full breakfast with a latte…latte was brought out long before breakfast and was finished before breakfast arrived…black pudding and haggis was cold the mushrooms must have been boiled had no taste to them at all quality of the bacon wasn’t best either defo not the best breakfast I’ve had for the price think I’ll stick to the niche

Great place to eat with a good variety of food and drink.

Massively disappointed for the first time. This is a place I've raved about, especially when The Terrace did the Sunday Roast which was sensational!! However today my starter came out with my main, so I left the start so my hot food wouldn't be cold when I got to it. I was never asked if everything is ok which should've happened at least once! And finally, when putting an online reservation in I didn't think dog allergies counted as special requirements as I'd never seen dogs in before. And they made me ver6 uncomfortable! I don't need any contact regarding this matter.

Excellent place for a night out. Food, service, venue were all excellent. I will definitely be back. Had lots of fun and laughter.

On arrival yesterday we were told there was likely to be a 30 minute wait for the food as only one chef on duty. This was fine with us and appreciated being told in advance. The food was lovely when it arrived and all staff very attentive. A lovely Birthday celebration for our daughter.

Lovely place to meet for drinks and something to eat. Colourful decor with nice taste in music. Nice to chill and pass some time. Plenty of parking, close to town centre and handy for main bus route.

Lovely place to eat in a lovely space with friendly staff & it's dog friendly

We made a reservation for 4 of us and when we arrived it was really quiet and we were seated quickly. We ordered drinks and food and all was fine. But that's as good as it got. I had the honey and soy marinated steak salad which was pretty much inedible. The salad was absolutely swimming in so much sauce it was terrible. I could only eat the little pieces of steak, which was also overcooked and chewy. The rest got left as the salad was soggy and mushy. The sauce was also overly rich and overpowering. Bare in mind, on the menu, it said marinated, not sauce. So how the salad became drowned in it is confusing. We were asked how our food was but by this point everyone else was almost finished eating, so a bit late to be checking on us. A staff member said she would inform the kitchen which is fine. However when the bill arrived I had to pay full price for the dish. To not even discount it is poor. Once our plates were cleared we had to go and find someone to ask for the bill. Nobody came near us to ask if we wanted desserts or coffee after waiting some time so we just decided to pay and leave. I could understand if it was busy but it seemed like they just couldnt be bothered. When paying the bill we were asked again by the same person "how was everything?" I said not great but she was still happy to take the full amount. The other dishes were just edible but thats about it, nothing special. My partners grilled chicken salad was also overcooked and dry. Absolutely will not be back and will not recommend to anyone unfortunately. Despite the name change and overhaul, it would seem the same reasons we stayed away for so long are still valid.

The restaurant was very quiet but very clean. Staff were friendly.

Wonderful venue, attentive staff, well cooked food that’s presented with care. This is our preferred choice for our LinkedIn Local for Ayrshire monthly meetings. We celebrated our first birthday here and you can see from the photos how much everyone is enjoying themselves.

Amazing Food, great portion sizes, only issue was we had quite a wait for food, it was very quiet we arrived at 3pm and left about 4.30pm, 2 mains came and I was left sitting for 5/10 mins waiting on mine coming and when it did come I said I was still waiting on a side portion of chips and the waitress didn’t know anything about it so had to wait for them to be cooked. We sat at the window table on the left and we felt we had been forgotten about as the views quite restricted.

Walk in booking for 2 meals Sunday evening. Beautiful setting and decor but surprisingly quiet. Lacked a little on the atmosphere front. Polite prompt service from both members of staff who served us. Ordered chorizo croquette and garlic mushrooms as starters, both tasty and the mushrooms was a large , filling portion that came with bread. Fish and chips main and cajun chicken pasta main, both large portions. I would defo ask for a smaller portion size next time, could not finish the pasta. overall a lovely unplanned dinner out.

Salad was brown which was ashame so we didn't eat it. My child's chicken looked a bit overdone. Tuna baguettes, chips and breakfast was lovely and very nice inside.

I gave the food 4 stars as we only had cakes. My criticism of the cakes were that they were all really big portions!

We had a party for my daughter in the Terrace at Si, the venue, staff and food were absolutely amazing, Ryan the manager was so helpful as was the assistant manager during the booking process,so happy to show us around. The bar staff were lovely and so helpful. The party was excellent and everything went so smoothly thanks to the staff. Beautiful venue and we will definitely use Si again for all family functions. All dietary requirements were met for various people without any trouble.

Great food, great atmosphere great table service.

The waitress was exceptional but unfortunately didn't see her name to put on here. She was so friendly and lovely. Setting is really nice. Food was good. Menu is quite small for evening meal.

Made very welcome by all the staff we had lunch and ask Casey could we have Burgers as they were not on the menu no problem they all went out of there way to be helpful. Food and service was good. Restaurant is really nice inside. But when I was paying my bill and didn’t leave a tip the guy scoffed and muttered something under his breath. Me and my wife don’t get tips for doing our jobs. And we work a lot harder. Has put me off ever coming back. You want a tip? Never bet on a three legged horse. Your welcome

Great venue we enjoy breakfast at least three times a week sometimes even for lunch so much so the staff even remember our order, 😀 now that is Good service. Evening our server Emma was great and extremely helpful and knowledgeable.

Young staff so friendly and attentive.Had taken the dog with us and a bowl of water and treats provided so kept him happy.Only fault was some type of meeting on so a bit noisy but still a nice experience overall.

Went for a family brunch at the Potting Shed, what a lovely place. Great atmosphere, And service. We really enjoyed our food too and best of all my wee dog was allowed in and given water and biscuits. Great experience - will definitely be back.

My husband and I went to Si for drinks and dinner and it was lovely. This was our first time there and we would definitely go back. We sat outside for a few drinks before dinner and it was relaxing they even had deckchairs on the lawn for you to enjoy the sunshine. The food was hot and yummy. The pulled pork I had on my fries was one of the best pulled pork I've had. The buttermilk chicken burger I had was delicious as was my husbands double burger. I need to mention the lively young man who I met when I booked I think his name is Nathan (not 100% sure) he is an absolute asset as he explained all about the deals and the different parts of Si to me and made us very welcome when we arrived for dinner.

Over crowded, understaffed, ran out of basics to make a pizza!?. Food was bland, over cooked and took 45 mins to deliver a burger, pizza and kids nuggets! Then they fleeced me for £47(no alcohol) and wanted a tip as well. Very poor all round. Would not recommend, if you cant get the basics right you're in the wrong job,; a perfect example of image over content. Ive dined at better chuck wagons.

We were visiting from Dundee for the weekend and came here for an evening meal on the Saturday night. Was blown away by the atmosphere, aesthetic, the friendly and efficient staff, the excellent food and cocktails and the really reasonable final bill! Everything was just on point! Special mentions for the smash burger, the apple pie with caramel sauce and the frozen strawberry daiquiri! Do not hesitate to visit this place and I'm already thinking of excuses to come through your way again!

Not impressed with menu choices. Visited Si to use gift voucher, but would not be enticed back again.Unfortunately had to return poached eggs and hollandaise sauce as both were luke warm! The issue was resolved both by the person in charge and the waitress, thank you for that! There does not appear to be a specific area allocated to diners with dogs, and a couple came in and sat adjacent to us without us even being asked if that was acceptable. The restaurant was not busy and perhaps the saying ' not everyone loves your dog as much as you do' should be considered by dog owners and restaurant owners. Some people have allergies, has that even been considered or would the attitude be ' then don't come here?'

Service and atmosphere 5 over 5, the burger was high quality but just meat bun and sauce , no single veg, seabass was very tasty but portion too small for the price, share platter was amazing and it was only dish we fully enjoyed. We will visit again to try something else hope for 5 / 5 review

The potting shed is a very trendy place to go and hands down the customer service is the best due to one young guy named Declan. Each and every time we have been in he is attentive, friendly and nothing is ever and issue for him. He deserves a pay rise for sure!

We were here for lunch. Their day time menu runs from 9am to 3pm and caters for gluten freebies, vegans and vegetarians. The menu is fairly large with Classics such as a Full Scottish Breakfast (vegetarian and gluten free full breakfasts available); pancakes, waffles and French toast with a variety of toppings - bacon, biscoff and berries as well as bagels, sandwiches and brunch favourites like Eggs Benny. Boozy Brunch is also an option, available 11am-3pm, every day and includes a glass of bubbly on arrival, your choice of brunch dish and two drinks from their Boozy Brunch menu (cocktails, mocktails, wine and spirits). I chose the STEAK ‘N’ EGGS (£12.25) which was a thick slice of bloomer bread, peppered popeseye steak (essentially frying steak), smoked cheddar, 2 hash browns and fried egg. All washed down with a good and hot Latte coffee. A hearty plate of popeseye steak, accompanied by crisp and golden hash browns and perfectly cooked eggs, arrived at the table. It’s a classic and comforting dish that satisfied. The popeseye steak, although known for its rich flavour was for most part tender, only with some pieces slightly chewy. The hash browns, golden and crispy on the outside yet soft and fluffy on the inside, provide a delightful contrast in both taste and texture. Paired with beautifully cooked fried eggs, this meal will appeal to anyone craving for a hearty, down-to-earth breakfast or brunch. My partner chose the 3 LITTLE PIGS (£9.85) which was BBQ pulled pork, crispy bacon, seasoned pork sausage and Asian slaw and a Soup of the day (£5.65). Unfortunately, this baguette fell short of expectations. While the combination of savoury meats promised a hearty and indulgent experience, the flavours failed to shine through, leaving the overall taste rather lackluster. The pulled pork was plenitful and succulent and had a depth of flavour expected from slow-cooked meat, but the bacon wasn’t crispy with the fatty rind chewy and unpleasant. The sliced in half pork sausage, though a welcome addition, couldn't salvage the overall mediocrity of the baguette. The Soup was Tomato and Basil but only delivered extreme acidity instead of a delicious hearty soup. Perhaps pancakes or waffles are they way to go as they are freshly made on the griddle! I LOVE the fact that they are dog friendly, even providing a dog menu of Scrambled Eggs, Pork Link and Bacon Bites. They do have ‘pawmandments’ asking you to keep your pooches paws on the floor at all times and keep them on the lead within the dog friendly areas. The staff are fantastic here. Super friendly and helpful and I can imagine this place is definitely the place to go in Irvine. They have a variety of events on including live music, quiz nights and menus for special occasions like Mothers Day etc. It was a truly wonderful laid back vibe, ideal for meeting friends and colleagues, great venue for a date and perfectly suited to families with babies and small children. There is plenty of space to move around and with around 90 seats, they definitely can cater for most.

3 adults and 1 child. Mug of soup was tasty and thick but small (£4) 2 pancakes with toppings were very dry and again, a small portion (£8.50!) Sharing platter was nowhere near worth the money. £19 for 8 small tater tots, 2 skewers of chorizo and halloumi and 2 spoons of pulled pork on a lettuce leaf and some battered chicken. Platter was missing half the halloumi. The pulled pork was blended smooth, not pulled and everything was cold. £7 for a glass of red wine. Charged for an alcoholic version of the virgin Bloody Mary because they don't have a button for the virgin one (£8) Had to ask for our station to be cleaned when we arrived as the floor was covered in food. Also the waitress tried to clear the table while we were still eating which is annoying. Even after a discount the total was still nearly £50. Pros - The food was tasty and the setting is really nicely done.

Had the smoked cheese and ham sandwich which was fine but bread on the dry side. Nice selection of cakes and traybakes. Coffee good. Attractive decor.

Emma was our server and was very attentive and friendly. The overall look and atmosphere is great! Promt service, good menu. We got the smoked salmon wrap and the steak wrap, either garlic salted fries and potato and leek soup. We really enjoyed all apart from the flavour of the steak wrap. Although the meat was lovely and tender the flavor was really bland, a bit soggy and we didn't enjoy that so much, bit overall a lovely lunch and very much enjoyed being in. Would definitely be back. Lovely establishment. Thanks again.

This restaurant has a great atmosphere and decor, we both feel really comfortable and cosy here! We had a lovely valentines dinner: the food was great and well presented, the staff were very accommodating, especially our server Declan! He is so lovely, friendly and helpful and we think he does an amazing job! Thanks for a great night :)

A great little spot for lunch. We were served by Declan and despite there being a rush in the restaurant, Declan was very attentive and ensured we had everything we needed. He was very friendly and provided service with a smile. Food was lovely and service quick. Would absolutely visit again especially if we were being served by Declan!

Had an amazing time at the boozy brunch, atmosphere was amazing, food was excellent and the staff very fab, especially Carrie , amazing service from herself, nothing was too much trouble, highly recommend this as a day out, worth every penny. Continued downstairs for live music with Jamie clark, excellent entertainment from him, lovely atmosphere and setting was ideal, thoroughly enjoyed my day, can't wait to go back.

Definitely try the Mexican eggs Benedict. It was sooo good and the giant empire biscuits are a must. So dog friendly with a cute wee doggy menu. Imogen our server was ace and super helpful
