Really tasty food and very friendly service. Have one minor criticism though, when you serve a steak on top of the fries, rather than beside, 1 the fries underneath get soggy and 2 it is impossible to cut the steak without the fries flying off the plate.

Friends grans funeral, family travelled from Ireland & Aberdeen for it, called ahead to say 12 of us coming for about an hour after the funeral. Arrived and we all decided to have food. The male on duty was quite rude and almost put us off ordering anything as he appeared reluctant to be doing food order for so many….kitchen is small, we weren’t expecting a party of this size, your food will have to come out at different times etc were the excuses he made. the full interactions with him during our time there was awkward and he made us feel slightly unwelcome. I would have thought in this day and age any restaurant would have been glad of the revenue! I had heard such good things about the restaurant but was very disappointed by the service and atmosphere. Full on rock/metal music playing which didn’t suit the place at all. The food was AMAZING compliments to the chef.

I phoned an asking do you do special discount for parties was told no as you get 2-for1 . I said is it o. A Wednesday and was told it’s all week. Hearing this I said to the person that great. I’ll booking it for Wednesday night .lovely staff meal Good lovely atmosphere. Went to pay17adults3 children under 3 I had taken money and as everyone was driving no alcohol i thought I had enough when I went to desk I had to transfer money from one place to another I had taken £400 pounds and was not enough. I was shocked . Couple days later I phoned asked for manager explaining everything to which was told the don’t do 2 for 1 they have a burger night that’s it .I told him that I asked before booking and was told I don’t no how . No apologies or anything was very disappointing to say the least. I could have booked other places but as family has always enjoyed it there and it was a special occasion . I was treating the family .Sorry but will think again before booking.

I love this place. Always attend the quiz night and have a meal in the restaurant first. However I have to say the manager on my last visit was very rude, gave our booth to another group of people. Even tho you can pre request the seats. That was really NOT the issue it was his manner, arguing with us, loudly In front of a busy restaurant. I was shocked to learn he was the manager. Do yourself a favour and get someone that deserves to be in this position.. because the braes is a brilliant place to eat and enjoy the atmosphere ..

The Brae "is trying" ... quiz nights, steak nights, burger nights, and live music 🎶 and more power to them ..... however, ..... the majority of the time we visit for lunch. This has been problematic to be fair .... on one occasion a tray of drinks was accidentally dropped on our guests and table, ( but everything was sorted !! ) , on another occasion we were forgotten all together !! ( we weren't very impressed that day ) ... recently we visited with another guest, and anticipation was high. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived, but the entire meal ( lunch ) took nearly 3 hours ... blamed on new staff. I must admit the food is generally nice, the prices are pretty good, ... the only thing letting the place down was the service. ( but again, we've recommended the Brae to various people, and they've enjoyed their visits .... I wonder if 'we've' just been unlucky 🤔 )

Disappointed to note menu had been streamlined and therefore less choice on offer for the two course deal … therefore opted to have main course from their full menu . Sad to say didn’t think it offered good value for money as same good could have been obtained in other restaurants at a cheaper price and of better quality .

Hi, the service and food was terrific, thought the portion sizes were just right and the menu catered for all tastes. Our server (a guy, I can’t recall his name) was excellent, very friendly and chipped in with a bit of banter which is always good. I have gave 5 stars across the board but I did want to provide a couple of observations. We bought 3 glass bottles of Coke which were £3.20 each, that seems a tad excessive, for context a pink gin and lemonade was only £3.00. Finally our table which seated 5 was too close to the bar. There were 3 diners around the bar area as we were eating. They were there about 10 mins as they were querying an issue with their bill. Due to our tables proximity to the bar the diners were literally right up my back as I was eating my main course. This did somewhat diminish our experience. To be fair, common sense might have led the diner to stand at the other end of the bar but this would not have been an issue had the table been further away from the bar.

Also had a pudding but struggled as my eyes are clearly bigger than my belly lol . My 3 year old had soup also which she loved. My partner had the haggis bon bons? They were tasty? First we have tried these? Then tempura for main which was very nice , batter on them was lovely again had a dessert of nutella waffle . Our waitress was very nice and welcoming so was only fair to let our daughter give her a tip as we paid. Thank you for my mothers day chocolates, tgey were a very nice surprise , think my daughter has claimed them as her own though haha . Thank s again for a lovely meal and great service xx

I should mention that we were in the bar to eat as it's dog friendly. If I'd scored the food it'd been 4.7 out of 5 hence the 4 stars. Ample array of beers but when you consider the restaurant is approx. 4 times the size of the bar, it's clear that the Brae focus is on food. It was very busy on that Sunday afternoon. Professional & friendly service, we had a really nice time as a family group. Next time we'll try the restaurant for sure. Lovely spot.

I had dinner with friends. The staff are friendly and generally speaking the food is well cooked and well presented. It would have scored 4 stars but my dessert was a big disappointment. It should have been Eton Mess with macerated berries. Instead the berries were replaced with grapes and it just doesn't work. No apology or explanation for why it wasn't as described on the menu. Update: had lunch here with a friend on 16th October. We both loved our meals. I especially recommend the tempura.

4 for lunch and they don’t do salads! So became 3 starters where ok but uninspired 2 of us had burgers and they where good but the chips where tasteless. Wee Mess for suite was good looking but no wow taste it was chopped up melange with fruit and cream.2 had apple crumble 1 had cold custard and one had microwave lava...but the actual crumble was cold and bland so both where left. Mentioned all of the above but was met with disinterest but they was still asked how was the meal? It’s a nice place and local the younger server was pleasant and they are dog friendly with water for the dog but the whole visit felt like the staff had no interest apart from pleasantries and the food looked good but as above was bland, tasteless and incorrectly cooked-prepared...and as we where the only customers it’s not that they where too busy to care....Had some good meals in The Brae but this was definitely not one of them... Won’t be recommending them

I was visiting my family in Perceton for a week and took my granddaughter there for a late lunch, as a treat, because I hadn’t seen her since February. We both chose the waffles option. I went for the bacon and she went for the buttermilk. My meal was almost cold, the waffles were dry, the bacon was more like cardboard, neither undercooked, nor overcooked and crispy, just dry, like strips of leather, certainly not newly cooked for me and I'd stake my reputation that the maple syrup was not maple syrup, but maple flavoured syrup which was much too sweet to be pure! My granddaughter's chicken was dry and over-fried - it actually looked burned - and when she tried to cut it the breadcrumbs flaked off in chunks and she struggled to cut through the tiny thin piece of chicken hidden inside each piece, as it was so tough (buttermilk chicken is supposedly marinated to tenderise it!!). Had I been asked at any time by the staff if the meal was OK, I would have enlightened them, but nobody bothered, not something I encounter very often nowadays as customer satisfaction is (or should be) important! At least the young man who served us was very polite and pleasant, but never at any time when he visited to clear our table, both plates still having food left on them, nor when I went to pay the bill did he ask if we'd enjoyed our meal. So all in all £27.20 was too much to pay for such disappointing food. The photo attached is what my granddaughter left on her plate, which is basically all the overcooked, rock hard breadcrumbs and I tried some of her chicken because my 3 pathetic rashers of bacon were so bad. And you can see part of the 2 quarters of waffle I left on my plate! I don't normally leave bad reviews, but this visit just left me so angry and disappointed!
