4 for lunch and they don’t do salads! So became 3 starters where ok but uninspired 2 of us had burgers and they where good but the chips where tasteless. Wee Mess for suite was good looking but no wow taste it was chopped up melange with fruit and cream.2 had apple crumble 1 had cold custard and one had microwave lava...but the actual crumble was cold and bland so both where left. Mentioned all of the above but was met with disinterest but they was still asked how was the meal? It’s a nice place and local the younger server was pleasant and they are dog friendly with water for the dog but the whole visit felt like the staff had no interest apart from pleasantries and the food looked good but as above was bland, tasteless and incorrectly cooked-prepared...and as we where the only customers it’s not that they where too busy to care....Had some good meals in The Brae but this was definitely not one of them... Won’t be recommending them

Went yesterday with my grandparents and parents - this will be our regular place from now on I reckon!! Absolutely brilliant food, as well as a good menu selection, including for me as a vegetarian (I felt like I actually had choices!). The service couldn’t have been better either, I think our servers name was Ben and he was awesome! If I could rate the place higher I would - still thinking about the food we had now

Recently moved to the area. Visited the Brae twice within a week as on the first visit we really enjoyed the experience and would have rated as probably 4 or 5 stars (circles)UnfortunatelyThe second visit was not so good. Premises and staff still very good. The food was way below par. I left nearly half of my dinner (chicken tempura). Unless the chef was trying to recreate the taste of rancid oil the cause of the taste was rancid oil. Both chips and tempura had the same horrible taste. When the young waitress cleared the table I advised her of the reason for not finishing the meal - she said she would pass it on. I then duly paid the presented bill and left. After 1st visit I was thinking we would be regulars. Now I don’t think so.

I recently booked my mums funeral tea in here but was extremely disappointed with the overall service. The afternoon tea that was paid for was certainly no where near the few hundred I spent and of poor quality. The staff were very unprofessional with corresponding on the day with phoning my Ex husband, who had nothing to do with funeral plans and also very rude when I made them aware that the few drinks they served me was not only tasting off but was clearly bought at supermarket and sold seperate!! Given the delicate occasion, I was very upset at this terrible service. Definitely not use this pub for any occasion.

We visited recently for dinner and have to say we were disappointed as in the past we have enjoyed eating in the restaurant as well as taking advantage of takeaway. After seeing customers being served before us, I had to go and ask for our order to be taken. There were only four tables occupied. Our meals duly arrived, one was good and the other two were mediocre to say the least

Dog friendly and family friendly. We went on a busy Saturday with the dog in tow - bar table for food no problem! The restaurant looks beautiful if you don’t have a four legged friend. The bar was comfy and cosy, even though it was chocker. The guys took our orders quickly and drinks came super fast. Food was amazing - the sea bream and the balmoral chicken with haggis was sooo good! Definitely not your average pub food - 5 completely empty plates. Would also recommend the Isle of Harris gin. Delicious!! Fab little pit stop if your in the area :)

Visited this place as we always forget it’s there when thinking of somewhere to go to for food. The decor, service and food was all first class. Nothing was a hassle to them and even with a slight error in our order (which didn’t bother us) they gave a discount to our bill. Nice touch.I think this place is up there with the likes of The Blair & The Cornerhouse for excellent north Ayrshire restaurants.

We booked our table in advance and stayed for about three hours. We were asked politely to move to the bar area after a while as other bookings were arriving. We were given ample notice of this. I felt this was fair enough and a mark of the quality of food and service that others has booked a later slot. The manager and her staff were very welcoming and we shall be back. A1

We had the wine and dine offer which was a small selection of main courses with a glass of wine for £7.99 We were unable to swap the garlic bread which came with the meal for chips without incurring an additional charge. However if we ordered the same main on the standard menu you CAN swap the garlic bread for chips without any extra charge. I don't like places which offer deals but then try and claw back extra money with surcharges. It leaves customers with a bad feeling. If you are going to offer a special deal, treat your customers the same as the ones ordering from the standard menu. The absence of not doing this just puts people off coming back. The food was tasty but the portion wasn't very big either. Won't rush back, sorry.

Once again we had a fabulous meal at the Brae to end 2019. Great company great service then the music started. Bearing in mind it was mostly couples and friends with the majority being 40-60. He proceeded to play a crap mix, sorry that should have been rap mix and then went and sat down.He was asked by numerous people to play something more suited to the crowd. He refused and at one point everyone was on their feet shouting get OFF. It was saved by the arrival of a piper which we all enjoyed. The management offers everyone a free drink as an apology. THEN he started to an Elvis mix slight improvement but by this time most people had left.He really did spoil what could have been a great night.

Visited on many occasions and always on a Thursday...as a lover of steaks...and at £30 for steaks for two (choice of sirloin or ribeye), with a bottle of wine, what is not to love?I love my steaks 'blue' and The Brae certainly provides sirloin steaks of a quality that allow for 'blue' cooking. No need for a starter, but you may want to try a dessert, or a wonderful cheeseboard, before a coffee.Don't worry about drinking and driving - they are quite hapoy to leave you the cork (tell them on ordering though) soyou can finish the bottle off at home...!!We will be back...again and again.Don't forget to get your loyalty card though - 50% off cost of food once full...!!

Ate from the Winter Warmer menu, which is great value for money. Unlike other places where the special would finish at 6pm, this is available till 9pm. There was a choice of stew, lasagne, fish and chips and several other dishes. I enjoyed the stew & dumplings, served with creamy mash and carrots. The deal comes with a glass of wine, and costs less than £8.My husband ordered off the main menu Fish n Chips which we were advised was a larger portion. When it arrived it didn’t seem like a larger portion, there was a mix up in the kitchen and he had received the Winter Warmer portion instead. It was still enjoyable and we received the wine to go along with it. Same as above came to less than £8.We shared a sticky toffee pudding, which was nice only grumble was the caramel sauce could be slightly darker in my opinion. Still tasty and served with ice cream. Over all delicious food, lovely staff and good value for money.

Myself and husband visited many times before but when we were last in yesterday we noticed the 2 or 3 course specials menu no longer available (so ordered anyway expecting portions to be larger and both chose a starter each and a main. I ordered the poached pear (rock hard and tiny) blue cheese (said in menu chunks what came were tiny crumbs) and walnut (again tiny pieces and not much) salad. The rocket leaves (a handful)had no proper dressing just covered in cheap flavourless oil. Not a cherry tomato or a bit of red onion or anything else on the half empty very small side plate. Not worth the £5.95 price! Husband had haggis scotch egg again £5.95 and what came was tasty but no side salad or generosity of portion size just a few tiny micro herbs under scotch egg and a tiny smear of some kind of sauce! At the same time I had ordered the sea bass. We were not informed the sea bass was off the menu until we had had our starters and they were clearing plates away! Not the way to run a restaurant! Bad service! Bad overpriced food! Will NEVER be back!

After hearing really good things about this place we decided to finally give it a go. We arrived at 7pm on a Saturday night so the pub next door was very busy but the restaurant not so much.. there was however quite a few kids running around, but it's a family friendly place so can't complain too much about that. I ordered the Fish and Chips and the missus had the Mac & Cheese and asked for bacon to be added. Our drinks order came super quick and so did the meal, unfortunately the waiter forgot to add the bacon for the macaroni to the order but he was very apologetic so we let it pass. The food looked absolutely delicious but where I think this place could really improve is the portion sizes. My meal consisted of one piece of fish and a total of 8 chips... the Mac & Cheese was also a fairly small portion and only came with garlic bread 'or' chips, I feel both should be standard. We both really enjoyed the food but were regretting not having starters and the desert menu wasn't grabbing us.. all in all a nice place with nice food and at £27 for 2 drinks and a main each it would be pretty reasonable but unfortunately due to the portion sizes I wouldn't describe it as good value. I'd reccomend The Brae but don't expect it to be quiet and definitely order starters.

It was the first night of our holiday and having driven for nearly seven hours we were really hungry, so booked a table here for dinner. The food was very pleasant and the decor good clean and modern. Unfortunately on the night we visited, there was a child who screamed the place down for the whole hour we were eating, so we left without lingering over desserts with headaches. Too many children here for us so would not recommend as a venue for couples wanting a peaceful meal. We did have good service from the staff however.

The food was good and had a good portion size. My only minor complaint was about the food ratio. I had ordered chicken fajitas and there were a lot more wraps, cheese etc compared to chicken. One of the other people in our party had the sticky toffee pudding and again there wasn’t enough toffee sauce for the amount of cake served. But it’s definitely somewhere I will go again.

I ordered the fish and hand cut chips, it came with two small pieces of fish that were tasteless and skinny frozen French fries. Food was poor, service was slow and price was too expensive for what we received. I eat out a lot and can honestly say this was one of the worst meals I have been served. Won't be rushing back or recommending it to anyone. Save your money.

Was looking forward to trying this new place. I ordered a burger with cheese and bacon and chips. It did look good when it arrived. I began eating around the outside, as I do, only to discover the middle of the burger wasn't cooked. I asked the waitress if I could have it cooked a bit more. The shock on my face as my part eaten uncooked burger was presented back to me on a tea plate on its own!!

First visit for lunch nice surroundings, staff very nice and helpful. Ordered light lunch which was soup and panini it was ok nothing special but I suppose there isn't much one could say. I did think it was a bit overpriced 2 soups 2 panini and 4 drinks (alcoholic) £33!! Also £2.20 for 25ml and £ 2.25 for small bottle of tonic!!!!

Had dinner here a few weeks ago, with family, location easy to reach, good parking, staff were friendly helpful and helped our group in choices from a good menu selection. During our meal staff checked all was good, meal presentation was excellent. The surroundings in the pub were fresh clean and well presented, all in all a great place to visit.

Had passed this new venue a couple of times and decided to give it a try as it always seems busy. Glad we did. As Irvine's newest venue the place is lovely and freshly decorated in contemporary style. Again it was busy and service was just a little slower than I would have liked. Initial service front of house was great, welcoming and friendly. Orders taken promptly with staff that engage with the customers. Two of the four of us had ordered burgers and to be fair that's what may have held the order up because when it came it was obvious that they were freshly made. Highly recommend the highlander burger and the munro burger. Well worth the money with ample serving portions. Dish came with French fries lots of them. Saw someone complaining about the French fries as being like Macdonald's but that's personal taste and I would expect French fries with burgers. So stuffed couldn't look at desert menu. The Eaton mess that passed looked brilliant, next time maybe. Overall very good, hope they maintain this standard. Well worth a try. Parking at rear only for a few cars but on street parking in front of premises, no time restrictions.

Lovely surroundings. Staff were lovely but restaurant busy therefore service a bit slow. A bit expensive for a burger( £13.95 ) which didn't have much flavour served with Mc Donald like chips.

Took my mum and two children to this newly refurbished establishment. The decor is smart and Wi-Fi is available, although it didn't work for us even though we asked for help to connect.

First off the place is very nice and welcoming, you can see a lot of work has been put into it. The young lady who served us was very nice as well. I had the Cullen skink starter, it tasted ok but it was far too dry and the bread served was a little stale. For my main course I had the steak pie served with mash and veg. The pastry was too thin and and the steak and gravy was tasteless I kept having to add salt to flavour which did help, and as for the pickled onions in the steak pie that just didn't work for me personally. I got four the wife got none. For my sweet I had the sticky toffee pudding and banana ice cream it was delicious. I had 2 pints of innis and Gunn lager and they were great too.

Great service from attentive staff. Excellent, good quality food. Hopefully the standard of service will be maintained. Good to see a restaurant not ripping of customers for soft drinks.

Went for a bite to eat and a few drinks with a friend. Lovely bright environment, clean and inviting. Staff friendly and welcoming, had the chicken tempura starter which was tasty and plentiful. Cajun chicken was tasty only qualm was it could do with a little more rice. We ordered a raspberry cheese cake and sticky toffee pudding both were tasty and well presented. Cocktails were delish, service fab and would recommend venue for family, friends or even just popping along for a drink in the bar.
