Got to Portree Harbour and hadn’t made a booking for dinner. Lucky to find The Pier Hotel where they took walk-ins. Small restaurant with a few tables. Friendly attentive service. We chose Cod rolls to share for a starter and Monk Fish fricassee for mains. The cod rolls were so good we ordered another serve. The monk fish was absolutely delicious. Great to have a fish dish that wasn’t fried with chips. As the previous meals were so good we had to try a dessert. Ordered the pear and sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream. Delicious! If we ever get back to Portree from Australian we will definitely come back and can highly recommend to other travellers.

We were very pleasantly surprised how delicious our food was. We just sort of stumbled in starving with no knowledge of what it would be like. The menu was written on the wall with no descriptions, but our sweet little server patiently and thoroughly answered all my questions! I had the Scottish Scallops (heavenly) and the salmon with roasted potatoes and broccoli and both were perfectly prepared and delicious. My husband had the pesto pasta which was so fresh and delicious, followed up by the best sticky toffee pudding of my life. It is not fancy and tables are close together, nice and quant, we lucked out had two lovely tables by us and we all chatter the entire meal. I highly recommend dining here:)

The food was delicious and simply honest cuisine. Best local location so far. It's very small, a bit bright but gives a typical impression. In my opinion, the food was incredibly good. Last evening I didn't eat anything remotely good in a restaurant for expensive money. I recommend the shop because it's easy and super tasty. 1A

Located on the harbor with beautiful views, this small hotel was quiet and comfortable. Our room and bathroom were small and very minimal--no refrigerator, instant coffee. The breakfast was very limited. Did not even have yogurt. One staff member was very nice, but the man behind the bar was less welcoming and would not accommodate our request when we wanted an earlier breakfast in order to meet up with our tour group.

I have been meaning to review this restaurant ever since we dined here on June 19. We initially went into another restaurant that turned us away because they were fully booked and boy were we glad that they recommended this place. This was one of the bests meal I had in the UK in holiday. It is very obvious the care they take in selecting and combining fresh ingredients to become a delightful home cooked meal. The Cullen Skink had layers of flavor with a delightful richness and was the best fish chowder/soup I have ever had. It is quite a small spot and we were second in line waiting for the doors to open for dinner (it was the middle of the week), so I would recommend getting there within a few minutes of when they open. I could see how the other reviews gave less stars because the service could get a little slow since there are only a few gals working at any given time. Delicious meal nonetheless. They were knowledgeable and more than able to accommodate gluten free for both myself and my husband.

A small and charming restaurant in the harbor. Family atmosphere even though it is crowded with tourists. The service made us feel comfortable and relaxed. The menu was short, which I see as something positive. The food was fresh and very good! The mussels for starter were perfect. Cod with tomato and olives was a new taste experience. The sticky pear pudding was heavenly! The price is a bit on the high side, but expected based on the location in the harbor and tourism.

Giving the place 2 stars only because the food was high quality and tasty. The service on the other hand was extremely poor which led to the overall experience being very underwhelming and one that I would not recommend, especially for tourists who are would like to be in a good mood. Few examples of bad service here: 1. Cutlery (forks) were thrown on to the table instead of kept next to the guests, extremely rude behaviour 2. Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream was presented without the ice cream (and no warning either), when asked about it, the wait staff just said "Oh, our fridge isn't working so we don't have ice cream"!! - why wouldn't you let us know that when we ordered - also how does a seafood place run without a working fridge?!! 3. Wait staff was very rude saying things like "I don't have all day to take your order" - that was a first. On the positive side, food was fresh and lovely, would recommend the Scallops, Cullen Skink, Monk fish. Go for the food but beware of the service - you will 100% find other places in Portree which have good food and good service.

This could be a nice small cozy place if managed better. But, it is way overpriced for small portions (mussels "main" which felt like a starter), and forgetful waitress who among other things forgot to serve the small piece of sandwich bread which was supposed to come as the only side to this 17.95 pound dish.

There was only one person servicing the table and it seemd enough as there are very few places but the service was really dissapointing. She was all over the place and really putting no effort. There are only a few options in the menu and even fewer available. I ordered the mussels that were supposed to come with garlic bread and they came without. Asked and got a small bun instead. Lots of eye rolling came with any question. People were coming in and asking for a table but were rejectes although there were tables available that only needed cleaning. Unlikely for me to come again although the food itself was not bad.

Things didn’t start good with bad service but from there it went downhill. The food can best be deacribed as microwaved leftovers, the monkfish was dry and tastes old and the fricassee was partly freezer cold and partly boiling hot. The taste was a mix of sour and old. Not sure what’s going on in the kitchen and I only hope that the visit doesn’t result in a food poisoning. The plates went back mostly untouched after an initial bite.

Unfortunately, a very unpleasant experience. 4 of us arrived and like everyone else we queued to wait our turn. They let us sit in the nearby pub but since there was a really unpleasant smell, my friends thought it best to wait outside while I stayed inside. Meanwhile others arrived Clients. To make a long story short, after almost an hour the customer who arrived just 10 minutes ago was seated before us. The excuse was that we didn't wait in the pub, which wasn't true. What bothered us most was the unwillingness to find a solution by having us sit outside.

We visited Portree harbour and walked around for somewhere to eat that had good seafood options and a view. The Pier fitted the bill perfectly. A small dining room with 5 or 6 tables max, with an adjoining bar which we sat in and enjoyed a drink whilst our table was ready. The service was so friendly and attentive and the food was exceptional. We chose scallops, and mussels steamed in cider for starters. The scallops were melt in the mouth, whilst the mussels were absolutely the best I have ever tasted; translucent and tasty, in a simple but delicious broth. 5 star quality! We the. Both plumped for the locally caught cod in a tomato and olive sauce, with creamy mash. Absolutely delicious dish. Finally we shared the pear and sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream. Sumptuous, sticky, comforting. Delicious! We will definitely be back for another meal next time we visit Portree and can highly recommend to other travellers.

Service was terrible. We were waiting for everything too long, especially that in the restaurant they have only five tables. Water with some pieces (of food?) in the bottle. Afterwards no one brought new cutlery after sides, main courses were served and we were waiting next 5 min to start to eat. Soup and scallops ok, but main dish (monkey fish) unacceptable - sand in the mushrooms, watery sauce, weird composition of the dish, three pieces of completely tasteless, dry fish. Mussels - small portions, poor quality (we have a comparison with other places on Sky) and the worst — didn’t smell fresh at all. Dessert we ordered never arrived. We were 7, part of the group was so hungry, they just ate and decided to not complain about the food (not because they liked it), but two of us sent fish to the kitchen and left hungry. Small portions compared to the prices. Avoid this place.

Absolutely avoid. We are a family with two children aged 5 and 8. The quantities are ridiculous. We ordered mussels. 18 pounds 500 grams of mussels with bread and butter as an accompaniment... No children's menu, we asked for mussels and pasta in smaller quantities hoping for an adjustment in the price. Finally they brought us adult quantities (for the adult price), but fortunately because already there we had to pay them for fries in a second restaurant afterwards because they were so hungry. 78 pounds for 1.5 kilos of mussels, a pasta dish, two beers and bread. Extremely expensive and we left hungry. Not to mention the poor service.

Salad was also amazing yet somehow the low point, compared to the rest. Finished off with the lemon posset, which was tart enough, even for me! The playlist was super fun and our waitress was a sheer delight. Very casual, very Scottish. Don’t bother going if you’re looking for something that feels fussy or fancy. Breakfast, however, is included if you stay in the hotel. Breakfast is typical Scottish breakfast with options of cereal and juice. Pics are from dinner and breakfast.

Rolstoelgebruiker. The pier hotel. Aan de baai. Klein Resto. Geduld. Wachtlijst. Drink een pintje in de bar vt hotel. Oergezellig. Klein. Van zodra plaats in resto wordt je geroepen. Wij proefden de Linguini met vis. Formidastisch. Een zeer gevulde schotel! Let op aanbod is beperkt. Het resto 'sloot' al om 20h00 !! Sterke aanrader, maar wees vroeg genoeg…

We did not have a booking for the restaurant but took a chance and managed to secure a table for two in the small cosy restaurant. The waitress was very efficient and friendly considering she was the only one there and managed to get drinks from the bar also with no trouble. We ordered the mackerel pate and chowder to start followed by the smoked haddock/ black pudding risotto and seafood linguine. Meals were delicious and struggled to finish. Very reasonably priced and generous portions. Would recommend this restaurant as a must when visiting Portree. Will get back there again hopefully.

We had a meal here and we had beautiful seafood. We had starters and mains which were great. We also had a Cranachan for dessert and it was gorgeous. We had to wait for 15 mins for a table and went into the bar for a drink. This is well worth a visit as it a real local pub. I would definitely recommend here.

Able to get in without a reservation. They allowed us to sit and wait and order our beverages before the dining hour to began. Filled up with patrons quickly. Good hot pub food that is reasonably priced. Good for families.

Stayed at a nearby B&B, so ate dinner here. Had fish and chips, which was lovely, and the best dessert I’ve had this holiday. Small place, so need to book. Unfortunately, not open on a Sunday or Monday.

We ate here last night, 2/11. We believe this is a temporary venue for this fabulous restaurant whilst their other premises are being renovated. We were warmly greeted and seated in a busy restaurant that had a warm and friendly feel. All the food sounded delicious especially the specials. Of the three of us I was the only one to have a starter - the hot smoked salmon tart - delicious! Crisp pastry, tasty hot smoked salmon and rich veloute. My dad the venison which was rich and soft - melt in your mouth tenderness. Whilst my husband a generous portion of seafood pasta - it was tasty, hot and very fresh - he said it was amazing. I had the monkfish special - loin wrapped in Parma ham with scallops. Again delicious! Service was the right mix of friendly and competent. A lovely restaurant serving very delicious food. We will visit again if we are up in Fort William.

Considering where this fish and chip shop is located the fish was disappointing. Rather overcooked. Chips were tasty but expected more for the price.
