Went here for lunch with our two sons 8&11) and my husband after they had played football golf at Tapnell farm and I walked the Tapnell walking loop with our dog. Shakshuka with feta was delicious; my husband and I both had it. Burgers on the kids menu and main menu were tasty and homemade. Our youngest wasn’t keen on the tortilla chips with his kids burger so only had the burger and two halves of cucumber. Oat latte was really good. Parking is available on the street but might be trickier in busy times. Would definitely recommend for lunch.

Came here for Sunday brunch on Sunday 20th Oct and the food was excellent. We had a few things - cooked breakfast, waffles, shasouka (I’m sure that’s misspelt!) but all were excellent. Service great and everything cooked fresh. A really nice and independent cafe, a lovely place!

We were taken here for a light lunch whilst staying with friends who live nearby. It was pleasant and our friends said we were lucky to find a table as it is a popular venue. Service was friendly and prompt, but we ended up with an incorrect drinks order (quickly rectified). Food was good although my crab sandwich was a little disappointing somehow, especially for the price and my partner thought similar. The tart special and Greek salad our friends had looked much better and I think I chose wrong. I also thought the cup size of my flat white a little mean.

Super place to eat- shame we only discovered it on our last night. Freshwater is brilliant- and this gem is also brilliant. Staff were welcoming and helpful- service was good and the food just kept coming. Reminds us of our trip to Athens. Not sure if it a cafe/ take-away or restaurant but seems all three and a real bonus for locals

We were in the area and hungry so thought we’d try this place for lunch. It has been recommended by a friend so I was pleased we had the chance to try. With a couple of fussy kids in tow I was worried that the menu was ‘too nice’ for them, but the staff quickly offered to accommodate them with offer of waffles (which was only on the breakfast menu). The foodies among us we completely satisfied. The Brie, bacon and cranberry open bagel was lovely and my husband’s beef brisket open bagel was divine, lots of meat, abundance of flavour. There was so much to try I wish I had time to go back. Lovely bright, roomy and interesting cafe too which had the option of sitting in a covered outside area out front.

Gem of a place! Having been disappointed at another place (not too far away), we tried here and even though we arrived 10 mins after kitchen was closed, they couldn’t have been more obliging in offering food for two hungry people who admittedly had left lunch very late! Big shout out to the kitchen staff who must have been cursing us. Thank you so much. We had a delicious bagel with bacon, Brie and cranberry sauce. Would defo recommend this place if you’re visiting Freshwater.

One of very few places serving food on a Monday afternoon. We were trying to get to the Needles, but roads leading there were closed. Stopped here after going round and round, starving, kitchen was closing in 20 minutes. A very kind man got a table ready for us outside, promptly took our order and brought our drinks. His pleasant manner certainly calmed our nerves. Most of us ordered crab sandwiches, they arrived quickly, big portion of crab filling in a very fresh bread, delicious. Nice decor inside, restrooms clean. We also received detailed information how to get to our destination through the detours. Highly recommend.

My friend has problems with specific types of food. The young lady who served us went above and beyond to accommodate her needs, concocting a suitable dish which was delicious and nutritious. Bembridge basically shut Monday and Tuesday, especially on the cafe front. This place on Tripadvisor looked worth a punt. The weather helped so long drive. Too late for breakfast which finished at 11:30. I opted for a latte on the terrace overlooking the wonderful countryside. Nice to have it served in a large soda glass which made me feel like I was in Provence. £3:80 a bit steep but at least it was a decent size and not like in Spain, where they serve your cafe con leche in a cup the size of a thimble. Super smooth so no complaints. Must return for lunch but yeah the place does close early. Fidelscastrol.

Like a previous customer on here, arrived around 10.45 am only to be told they had stopped serving hot food as they had run out of breakfast food so all they had to offer were cakes. Not ideal, why not offer toast etc. or start lunch menu from 11 am? Service was generally poor and in my mind some staff training would be beneficial. We are local people and have been here before on a number of occasions but it does seem they have an issue with the general workings of the place. Reluctant to return again sadly.

Having lived on the island for many years and been recommended The Piano Cafe we thought we would stop by today for coffee and cake. It was busy, surely a great sign and confirmation of its reputation. We qued to be seated to which we were bypassed by a group behind us who were seated to the only table inside, not a problem as we were shown to an external table albeit 5 mins after we arrived and after staff had walked past us about 10 times. We were shown menus and after 10 minutes our order of 2 flat whites, a lemonade and a posh hot chocolate was taken. We also wanted cake. As there were no decsriptions on the menu we asked the member of staff who took our order as to what cakes were available as we could see some on the counter. He shrugged his shoulders and said he had no idea what cake was available and we had to go inside to look ourselves. Given the time already taken to be seated and to have our drinks order taken we decided against the cake. The drinks arrived some 15 mins after ordering and so as soon as they arrived we asked for the bill. We have no idea what constitutes a posh hot chocolate but what our son got was a very watery tepid regular hot chocolate. No staff about to get their attention to remedy it. When at last a member of staff did swing by we asked again for the bill....in fact, we asked (as did the table next to us) 4 times for the bill. Hap hazard and unorganised is how I would describe the staff, which is a real shame because what we saw of the food coming out looked lovely. This visit has however put me off visiting again.

We visited yesterday having been in the past and enjoyed this place in such a pretty location. Maybe the fact that it was virtually empty inside at lunchtime should have been the warning sign? Long story short, staff seemed nice enough, but the food was awful, and I mean awful. So here’s the scoop - we all ordered “toasties”, with various fillings. Easy to get right you agree, after all it’s just a toasted sandwich. Not here! What arrived were 4 panini which were so hard and over cooked they were virtually inedible! We tried eating them as we were hungry, yet on reflection should have sent them back! The “special” caramelised onion tart was equally mediocre and not very special ! When i mentioned to the waitress that the food wasn’t great and that we had in fact ordered toasties not panini, she proceeded to tell me that was the same thing and that it explained that on the menu. Neither of which is true! A toastie is not a panini! And your menu doesn’t mention panini! Get it right so that customers know what to expect ! Anyway having driven a long way to a cafe we remembered being lovely, sadly we left furious at paying near on £50 for rubbish. And it really was poor. The garnish, a couple of limp lettuce pieces and some vile crisps were no better. Come on guys you can do better than this! How can you not get a toastie right? I’m beginning to think this place has different owners since our last visit as yesterday was awful! Such a waste of money! And to top it all I got the impression they couldn’t have cared less! Avoid this place is my advice.

We’re locals and we used to call in here regularly both during the day and some evenings. We actually came here on their opening day wanting to support a local start up. Now, although they say they are dog lovers, they have decided to no longer allow dogs inside (they have said they’ll review this at some point but no indication when). Our dog is always with us and there had never been a problem. Indeed almost all of the dogs visiting have always seemed very well behaved with responsible owners. The cafe owner says it’s all due to COVID but really, if that is the case, why now in late September? It will be too cold to sit outside soon and local businesses tend to be dependent on local custom in the winter. Maybe this is when they’ll review their decision????Anyway, we’ve decided to take our custom elsewhere as we are so disappointed with their decision. Luckily, there is another equally nice venue a few minutes walk away towards Freshwater Bay called Dimbola. Great coffee and a wider menu than the Piano Cafe plus decent service. And yes, they are also dog friendly!

It's slightly off the beaten track - but definitely worth putting into google maps. Literally 5 minutes away from the beach itself but in a different league to the food options that you might think are the only options, if you don't know Freshwater Bay. Having run from Yarmouth, I'd decided to treat myself to a lovely lunch/brunch and had visions of an independent, stylish cafe and an opportunity to read the paper. I was a little crushed when I got to the beach and looked around me at the options. So straight to google to find out what might be in the area that I just couldn't see. And the Piano Cafe flashed up on the screen. It was absolutely perfect for what I wanted. Stylish surrounding, options to sit inside or out. A lovely and fairly extensive menu. Such friendly staff - for whom nothing is too much effort. I had the tuna panini which arrived with a side salad and vegetable crisps. Sitting in the sun on a Saturday afternoon, I'm not sure there could have been anywhere nicer to sit and chill out. There were three specials on the board as well...so great variety of food that obviously is updated regularly. The option for alcoholic drinks is there - although I refrained because of my intended run back to Yarmouth but I can see the attraction of a late afternoon piece of cake and a nice glass of wine! I will most definitely be returning.

Popped in here after visiting St Agnes Church and finding its geocache. We like to support independent cafes and restaurants whenever possible, and especially after CV19 Lockdown. This cafe was charming, we loved the stylish arty look and feel. Great coffee and generously portioned, delicious homemade cake. Would definitely recommend.

Had lunch there with my daughter. She had the burger, I had the salad. Really good food and clearly made with a lot of effort. Not cheap, don’t think they’re on the ‘eat out to help out scheme’ (not sure why not?). If you’re staying nearby, treat yourself.

Has the chicken burger and chicken wraps as reccomended by the waiter on arrival, which were both gorgeous. Friendly staff too. Best dining experience on the island so far!

A great cafe for cyclists, sat outside and had a lovely cooked breakfast. Service was very fast and the coffee was great. Good range of options, would recommend anything with the sourdough!

This is the local cafe to where we stay in Freshwater and we were so happy to see it pop up a few years ago. Not sure what’s happened but went for breakfast on the first morning of our holiday and the staff were just really quite rude. I misunderstood one of them (masks!) and asked twice for water but other than that (and having quite a loud toddler maybe) I can’t think what we did to be treated in really quite a brash and sharp way. I ordered the Shakshouka and it didn’t have much taste but my partner had the traditional breakfast which was good. But we popped back this morning just for a few drinks and the attitude was exactly the same. Dared to ask for a straw for our little girl and that didn’t go down well at all. We offered to go and collect it and the lady just said ‘if you want’. Maybe we’re just not likeable people. Maybe it’s been a tough year. Maybe they’ll respond to this and give their ‘side’ and we’ll be enlightened. I don’t know. Glad to see others have had a better experience but we’ll be eating in nice places with nice people in future as per the island standard.

Stopped here for breakfast on our way to Robin Hill adventure Park and was very pleased. Excellent size breakfast with lovely Iocal produce. The menu and specials looked so nice we've booked in again for another day! Good mix of dishes means there is something for all budgets too. Definitely worth a visit - I was only sorry we couldn't eat there for tea too as the cakes looked lovely! If you do visit, stop to see the thatched church built from the masonry of Robert Hooked childhood home, or Julia Margaret Cameron's House, which is now a museum dedicated to the trailblazing female photographer.

My boyfriend and I had lunch from here today. Due to the coronavirus you cannot eat inside the establishment at present but there are tables and chairs outside, and they are offering a takeaway service from a limited menu. Despite the cafe being so quiet the staff were very upbeat and welcoming. I had a bacon, iow soft cheese and chutney toastie and my boyfriend had a cheese and ham toastie. They were incredible. A lovely little place, definitely worth a visit. We will definitely be going back.

We tried the mezze on a Friday night. Great to see that the Cafe was packed and lively. The atmosphere was fabulous. I have to be honest that the food was OK, but not brilliant. We had calamari, feta and herb filo, sausage in honey, patata bravo and crab cakes; items were rather 'beige' and lacking in flavour, with the uniformity of being mass-produced, rather than made in the kitchen. House merlot was delicious and the local (bottled) Isle of Wight ale very good. A breakfast visit may offer better value and taste.

An amazing little cafe which caters for veggie, vegan, gluten free and lactose free. I stopped for coffee and cake and it’s was perfect. Wonderful coffee and the cake was so light and fluffy. The new menu has such a wide range of inclusive dishes and I was really impressed with the variety on the breakfast menu. You can tell the new part owner and rest of the staff have worked really hard to create new dishes and include all types of eaters and dietary requirements. A wonderful friendly atmosphere with a beautiful environment. I loved the flowers in the mermaid gin bottles and foliage over the bar and around the room; a lovely touch. I will be back for breakfast. Go here! You won’t be disappointed. Thank you Piano Cafe.

Lovely ambience in this busy cafe between Farringford and Freshwater Bay. I recommend the carrot cake and my husband the scone with raw honey and clotted cream. Not the cheapest cafe in West Wight, but we always enjoy our visit.

I come all the time to the piano and it never disappoints! I had the eggs Benedict this time and it was delicious as always. Generous with portion sizes without being too much! The local sourdough makes it something special and the new menu is extensive and gives the opportunity for something a bit different. I would also say that they are good at catering for food allergies and intolerances- they have gluten free bread and cakes as well as alternative milks. The staff are also very accommodating and friendly, creating a lovely atmosphere. I highly recommend!

This place is famous for its views across the Solent, but only in the summer. In the winter the windows are always steamed up giving you near to no visibility outside. We didn’t eat but the menu looks good and average prices for the area. Drinks were more expensive than the Seaview Hotel just around the corner. +£1 per drink on gin & tonic. It was November on a Friday evening and all tables were reserved. We did sit at one of their best tables for our drink ‘Captain Ted’s Table’ and it was wobbly as hell. Felt like it was going to give way at any time. Come on this is an easy fix.

Nice busy cafe, lots going on with a lot of choice to make your own baguette. Popular with the locals for lunch who fancy an upgrade from a morrisons meal deal.

We have been here many times over the years and looked forward to our visit again this year. What a disappointment. We had a cream tea which consisted of a pot of tea, 2 scones, butter, cream and jam. The jam and cream pots were half the size they used to be and the butter was barely there, adequate enough for one scone but certainly not two. The jug of milk supplied did not have enough milk for one cup of tea and we had to ask for extra. I do not drink tea and asked for my tea to be substituted with coffee, big mistake, it was undrinkable. Went we went to pay we were told 'cash only' and I was lucky to find some cash in the bottom of my bag. This should be made clear when you enter and before you order as a lot of people do not carry cash. Our experience was so different to every other visit we wondered if there were 'new owners' but overheard the owner telling other visitors that she had been there 17 years. Sadly will not be returning.

Remember coming to this pub with my family when I was ten so had to come back 40 odd years later. Disappointed the coffin by the door was gone 😂 but it was a real highlight of our trip. Our dogs were welcomed and fussed over and the food at lunch was amazing, so tasty. Really friendly staff and all the facilities were spotless. Fantastic views over the garden too. A lovely trip down memory lane
