I last visited the cafe in late October 2023 and made a beeline for it following this year's trip to the gardens. Yes, the place has been refurbished, but the service and food has gone downhill, drastically. As others have mentioned, the menu options now seem to be very much focussed on the non meat eaters - great for them, but the lacklustre selection wasn't for us. The cake selection was dismal and mine tasted like it had been out on display a little too long! I don't remember any of the staff from previous visits, but I appreciate it's a transient business, and those working when we were there would have struggled to have been more disinterested in providing any sort of service, less so a smile! Trying to attract anyone's attention was embarrassing, especially as I'd told my guests how lovely the cafe was. While the bathroom has been redecorated, the cleanliness leaves much to be desired. I'll go elsewhere for lunch on my next visit to the gardens.

This place used to be a favourite, but they've taken their foot off the pedal. Didn't really fancy anything on the menu that seems to be much more focussed on veggies/vegans than previously. Slow service, grubby, coffee-stained table, and a slice of frozen-inside Victoria sponge with my tea! At the prices they're charging they need to be better, much better!

I operate a London chauffeur company in London and often take overseas clients around to visit famous places and sights. This week I had 3 Americans who were here on business but also wanted to take in some sightseeing. I thought it would be a great idea to take them to the Physic Garden and have lunch onsite. What a mistake. It was shocking: expensive uninspiring food, disorganized with rude staff giving attitude to customers and looking to the floor avoiding eye contact. The coffee was abysmal. Completely tasteless and badly served (ie, staff refused to add sugar to the iced coffee before adding ice cubes so the sugar wouldn't dissolve). The table next to us was making a complain, quite disconcerting.

Poor food menu with limited options (mostly tasteless vegan) and chaotic service. I am a member and was so embarrassed with my guests. What a shame.

This is a cafe in an amazing venue but the food is just not good enough, given the high prices - they charge as much as a King's Road restaurant. There is nothing substantial - dominated by salads at the moment - and for lunch no pasta, no risotto, no sandwiches - just nothing filling. In desperation to find something to sate hunger I tried their sausage roll. It was one of the most revolting things I have ever eaten. Without asking, they heated it to a tepid temperature which caused it to ooze orange oil onto the plate and the pastry was soaked in it.

Unfortunately, as others have mentioned, this place struggles to deal with orders accurately and on time. We waited over 40 mins for food and drink and some orders were forgotten. When it came, 3 of the 4 salads had ingredients missing and one order of...

The menu was interesting with a number of healthy food choices. The restaurant was busy and the staff were helpful. However the only dessert choices seemed to be different types of cake. It is possible to sit outside for your meal.Drink choices were good.

Sad to see the old café at The Physic Garden has been replaced. The food, while adequate, is terribly overpriced for what it is - sixteen or seventeen quid for a salmon salad - whilst the table service is appalling. The staff are indifferent and...

I really enjoyed the cafe. I was recommended the lemon and lime cake by Lusia and it was delicious. Thanks. Apparently it was recently renovated and it looks great.

For many years I used Greenfields where I received consistently outstanding courteous, friendly, and swift service. Now where are they? Food quality was always the highest and prices reasonable but creeping up forced upon them by rapacious landlord happy to cede their territory to the growing French / Belgian community. Was it not Bonaparte who referred to the English as a "nation of shopkeepers"? Is it not ironic, therefore, that where he could not win at Waterloo his descendants could in South Ken....
