Chose this as an alternative to eating in the west end pre-theatre (the pub is a 10 minute walk from South Kensington tube, which then gets you to Piccadilly Circus in 8 minutes)...or it is a 10 minute walk from Sloane Square tube. For starters our party had a Chile Non-Carne Soup (very nice, around £5) and a breadboard which came with a large warm sourdough boule (enough for 2 and gorgeous, one of best breads I've tasted, £4). Main course was the Katsu Chicken Burger (£13, my son thought it the best chicken burger he'd had) and I had the Fish and Chips (around £11, very tasty fish and cooked just right), chips with both meals (thin with the burger, thick with the fish) were crispy, hot and excellent. Food was hot and served within about 15-20 minutes of ordering at the bar. I had a 25% off voucher from their website (off food AND drink) which I think they are only doing this month, but check their website. The prices I've quoted were before the discount. Great range of beers, about £5.50 for a pint of Peroni. Staff very pleasant and the decor is quirky, arty and lovely. Not too busy at 6pm. Smoking garden with heaters out the back., Would have given it 5 stars but without the voucher I suppose it is a bit pricey, however you are in Kings Road, Chelsea so not bad for the area (you could pay a lot more)...and certainly cheaper and more relaxing than trying to dine in the west end. Left at 6.45pm for a 7.30pm theatre start, got there in good time. I knew the pub because we'd been in there for a sandwich one lunchtime some time ago (salt beef I think) which had been really tasty, so gave it another go. Enjoy!

Sunday Lunch at the Trafalgar, been going for the last 5 years and never had a poor experience until yesterday, staff were disorganised, food although edible was served on cold plates and generally the whole experience was disappointing. Shame because we’ve used it as a sensible choice for a good Sunday lunch, it’s still comfortable, the drinks variety is great and there’s a good menu, but they’ve lost the plot a little in the customer care, preparation of food and service when it’s ready. When we politely pointed out when paying that things were not quite right is wasn’t really dealt with in a caring way. Someone needs to get a grip and sort it out.

Booked a table for 10 people for a 1pm sunday roast on my birthday. Considering it was only 1pm it seemed ridiculous that both the beef sunday roast and the vegetarian sunday roast had run out... as well as the only other vegetarian item on the menu. Several other parties left around us due to the lack of options but we persevered. You have to order at the bar and collect your own drinks from this place - even once you are eating so quite what the staff were all doing was anyones guess.

Él nunca vino a nuestra mesa. Peor comida que he probado.

We popped in here for a bottle of House white at about 5.00pm on a Friday evening, and, my, was it busy. Absolutely heaving, but nothing nasty, and the very, very mixed clientele were absolutely lovely. The menu looked to be relatively expensive for what essentially is just pub grub. The wine was not cheap at £21.00.

Thursday night, Kings Road, empty pub... perhaps we should have wondered why! But we were welcomed warmly and offered a huge comfy horseshoe shaped banquette, which could seat 10, for two of us.Drinks were drinks, standard G&T and good SA red wine. Food was a delightful surprise. Having looked at a steak house offering steaks from £35 to £75, we bravely went for the £12.95 version here. And it was delicious. Really good value. My friend and I had plenty to talk about and so were oblivious to the rather bizarre surroundings and decidedly quirky clientele. Purple velvet tasseled light shades, for example, and a room divider in the middle of nowhere. Two people who spent nearly three hours chalking a specials board. And the most stunning (and expensive) fresh flowers. Will definitely go back, even if just to check we were not on "candid camera" and this funny, quirky, good value, pub really exists.

Visited here with a large group for a leaving party. We booked an area for 25 people about 3 weeks in advance, so were a bit disappointed when we arrived and found that we were only given 3 smallish tables which were at different levels to each other. However we just pulled some more chairs over and had some people standing. I was impressed with the beers on tap- they had lots of local beers and a wide variety available. I ordered the burger to eat, which was quite nice but nothing special really. The prices were very high for both drinks and food, but it is on the Kings Road so I suppose it is to be expected. If you don't mind spending a bit then this is a nice place to visit for a drink on the Kings Road.

met with 5 friends there last night 12th aug. For a saturday night in Chelsea the pub was really quiet so there had been no need to reserve our table. Soon we were to realise why. we had a few rounds of drinks and then looked at the menus to choose something to eat. The menu is a small no of choices but the situation was made worse to find out several dishes we preferred were unavailable . We persevered and ordered and what turned up was poor quality . But during all this alarms in the pub were going of so we had to eat our food to the sounds of a large truck reversing PLUS a constant high pitched noise that we all though was my friends hearing aid malfunctioning. It was a nightmare added to the poor food quality and we could not wait to leave but not before conveying a complaint to the supervisor who apologised and did offer us free drinks before we left but it was too bad there with the alarm still going off so we left. The only positive thing to say about this place is that the staff were at all times very helpful and apologetic about the food and alarm . I am sure the alarm will not go off every week but the food will be the same . It ruined our saturday night get together and I still had ringing in the ears an hour later. In hindsight we should have been offered a full refund . Certainly if we had not had to pay before the food arrived we would have refused to pay after. We will be writing the the landlords to complain.

To begin with, I never take the time to review anything but the bait and switch we received at this restaurant inspired me to write it for other visitor to this lovely Chelsea neighborhood. We come to the Chelsea neighborhood about once a year and have discovered many interesting restaraunts over the years at our hotel's recommendation. We were on a casual walk of the neighborhood and wanted a beer and pub food, we asked the waitress if they served food. She said yes but only for 5 more minutes, so we ordered our drinks, they poured them and when we said we would now like to order food, she said the chef had left for the night because it had been more than 5 minutes and we could no longer order. This happened within 5 minutes so it was clearly a scam to get us in for drinks. We would have passed this establishment if they said they were no longer serving food. In the future we will stick to the recommendations of our very reputable hotel and we recommend you stay clear of this place.

In contrast to CP just up the street; this pub is poorly lit, unkept, the floor was a mess, and the food was terrible! I consider myself somewhat of a 'pub aficionado' and have included my kids in regular pub visits all over the world - and this one looked inviting - from the outside! That's where it stops! The small, low-brow crowd and trio of drunk barflies should have given us a clue. Apparently it didn't! Ambience was poor - oh, and did I mention the food? It was terrible!

My partner and I stopped in here for a drink on a Sunday evening as we thought the bar looked lovely. We should have taken heed to the fact that the place was practically empty and that the pub over the road was absolutely packed out!!! We went in for a drink but we made the mistake of ordering food. We ordered a shared roast dinner but they didn't have it so we ordered two roast chicken dinners (at a cost of £27). We waited quite some time and when the food arrived the roast potatoes were cold so we told the staff who sent over the manager who took the food back to the kitchen. The manager came back with our food and it seemed to us as though it had been put in the microwave as the potatoes were very hot but now chewy and not crispy. The yorkshire pudding was chewy and inedible. The chicken was very dry and over cooked. We we so hungry that we ate the chicken and left the rest of the food. When the manager came over to ask how the food was we told him that we were not happy as was not nice i.e. chewy and overcooked. He did offer to give us something else to eat but we were reluctant as we were very hungry, very disappointed and felt that other food would also be to a poor standard. The manager did not offer us any kind of refund although we did get a complimentary drink whilst waiting for our food to be heated up again. The manager seemed quite unprofessional and we thought we may have been given some partial refund at the very least bearing in mind that we only ate a little dry overcooked chicken. So the customer service via the manager in this establishment is not good at all! I recommend that you do not go to eat here.

Having a couple of hours to spare in Kings Rd and needing a meal, I walked into the nearest pub - The Trafalgar! Now, I'm not expecting gourmet 5-star or even 3-star food but I expect at least a decent portion for the over-inflated prices - I appreciate it's Kings Rd so will be slightly higher. After a nice conversation with a very friendly bar man, I decided on the Fish & Chips. When it arrived, I had to take it straight back to him as there seemed to be half portions of the chips and peas - they tried to style it out by placing the fish on top of the random chips! The bar man took away and promptly came back basically saying that due to the financial state of the country, they're reducing the portion size! oh dear! He did manage to add maybe 2 or 3 chips but on the whole:Fish - greasyChips - dryPeas - tasteless & dryPrice - £12.95My advice, look for somewhere else! To be fair, the decor is ok and the bar man I spoke to was great (and apologetic) but I really I can't recommend this place on any level. PS. The second star was for the staff, otherwise the chef and the management would wholly deserve a 1-star.

We have walked passed this pub for many years and never gone inside. Last Sunday we fancied a Sunday roast and the sign in the window drew us in. We didn't think the place was that exciting to look at but we wanted to try the food. I had pork roast and my husband chicken, the plates were laden and it was delicious, maybe the parsnips could have been a little brown but they tasted great. Roasted onions a nice addition, Yorkshire pudding nice as quite often you find it leathery if it has been standing around, we thoroughly enjoyed it, no posh plates but that didn't matter It was just like a roast you would make at home hearty and delicious, and hot which is so important to us. We shall go back undoubtedly. Nice staff too.

A group of us visited the Trafalgar for lunch. It's a large pub and it had plenty of empty tables, in fact we were virtually the only people there. I ordered the shepherds pie but sadly "it hadn't been delivered yet". Sausages were off too, so was the chicken but they did have one burger. Everyone else resorted to open sandwiches and one person had a very poor and expensive macaroni cheese. If you are after homemade food, or even food, this is may be a place to avoid until they sort the kitchen out. If you are after somewhere to sit down and a pint then it's a place to go where at lunchtime you seem pretty certain to get a seat!

If this place were anywhere else you would snort derisively if presented with a £21 bill for two glasses of wine, half a dozen onion rings and some soggy chips. Yet it's in the heart of Chelsea. So you tolerate it. The place itself is practical, and low in charm. It's very big so over 100 people can fit comfortably around tables large and small. The floor is also wood. Lighting is pseudo-chandeliers. Curtains are surrounded with mock velvet sconces. The bar is lit with Ashley-esque shades. William Mortis wallpaper in half the bar, bluish-green paint in the other. Large advertising blackboard. Large TV screen shoeing the football. It's a bit of a hotch potch. If you want authenticity, go elsewhere. It has the whiff of that chain that starts with a W about it, if you get my meaning. If you're on a cheap date, I suppose you could do worse. People cheerfully shouting each other into deafness seems quite a standard approach. The long curved sofas are quite comfortable. It ticks practical boxes, not emotional ones.So if someone grandly tells you that "I went out in Chelsea last night", you might not necessarily summon up this place, but it takes all sorts to make a world. Could do worse, but it's not special.

Me and my friend both ordered food, after waiting for absolutely ages we had to approach the bar to ask where exactly the food was. 50 minutes later our food arrived, the order was completely wrong. The waiter, without even apologising took the food away and said that he would sort out. 10 minutes later I approached the waiter to see what was going on and he said that the kitchen would make it from scratch. Obviously, after waiting 50 minutes already he must've assumed that I had no where else to be that day. So I asked for a refund so that I could leave to make my other plans. To which he responded by sighing in my face. Received no apology, left hungry and will not be returning! Shocking service.

I did wonder, upon entering from the bustling Kings Road, where everyone was? It was WAY too quiet for a Sunday lunchtime. And, unfortunately, I found out why the hard way. My table was marked reserved by the print-out left on it. Ordered a perfectly good beer and we perused the menu. Chilli squid sounded good (but they didn't have any...) so ordered braised beef brisket cubes with buffalo sauce and a ham and salami with toast plate. Mains were lamb shoulder and sirloin of beef. After a while the starters arrived....but so did the mains! No apology - they seemed to think this was normal!!! The salami portion looked pretty small but was apparently tasty and my cubes were fine. But....my beef, which was served on top of the roast potatoes and veg (leaving half the plate vacant for any additional sides should we have been foolish enough to have ordered them...) making them soggy but also hiding the fact that the veg was mostly strips of cabbage that didn't look particularly appetizing.... And then I tried to cut the beef. Nope - wasn't going to be easy! A lot of it was gristle, chewy and just not good enough. So disappointing. So we decided to move on and have some gin elsewhere. Hardly anyone else arrived while we were there and now I know why.....

This was our first stop after checking in at a nearby hotel. We could not locate our first choice for fish and chips (which had been recommended by Tripadvisor, and we later discovered had been closed for months) and took a chance. We ordered beers and meals and found a table in the back by the fireplace to unwind. Our food soon came out and we were thoroughly delighted by the results.

We had lunch at the Trafalgar and ordered our meals, they arrived in a reasonable amount of time, but then the disappointment started. My meal was ok,but my wife ordered the fish & was very taken aback as she was convinced that it had a bad smell. When she cut in to it the flesh there was a combination of brown & grey colours which did not look very appetising. The waitress came & asked if everything was ok,and my wife expressed her concerns. She was then offered a replacement meal, but declined.Summing up,a rather dissapointing experience, and we were not offered a partial refund. The gents toilet had a broken mirror, and the right hand urinal was blocked.Would we reccomend this establishment, no we would not.

After walking down the Kings road we were in desperate need of light refreshments and this was the first stop.We sat at the window on the left hand side and watched the world go by. Pints of lager followed by G&T's was the order and we had a good few. It's nice clean and the staff are friendly. A great place to have a few and relax with a view.

I have eaten and reviewed the Trafalgar a couple of times in the past. I am pleased to say they continue with a very high standard. My wife and I had lunch here on Monday 1st May 2016. We had Fish and chips £12.25 and Roast Lamb £15.75. They were both delicious, nicely presented, fresh and full of flavour. Although the portions are not huge and the prices not cheap, this was food of the highest quality.During this, my most recent holiday in the London, the food served in Pubs is very good.We hope to return to The Travalgar.

We had late Sunday lunch - it was pretty satisfying if unspectacular. Chicken was better than the beef which was a bit chewy and not as hot as it could have been. The salted caramel profiteroles with salted caramel ice cream and toffee sauce was stunning, in the top three desserts I've ever had - worth visiting for it alone. Service was good too, pleasant and obliging staff.

i met an old friend for a drink and some lunch, but I would find another venue next time. the drinks were fine, but the food was not as good as expected. I had the shepherds pie with seasonal vegetables. The pie tasted okay, but was only warm. I will not comment on the seasonal vegetables. The best part of our experience of this venue was the personality and friendliness of the young lady who served at the bar, and also served the food. I don't know her name, but she was from Caracas.

Went to The Trafalgar yesterday for Sunday roast. My friend and I both had the mixed roast which was beef and also pork.My pork was dry, overcooked, tasteless and the crackling portion was tiny. The roast potatoes were not proper roasts at all. More like boiled with their skin on and then thrown in the oven. The yorkshire pudding whilst not too bad was cold when it came out.My beef was also dry and overcooked. In comparison my friends beef slice was pure fat and had a massive thick vein running down it which made it impossible to eat. The waitress was very sweet and offered us free coffee which was kind of her when we showed her! She was also very apologetic even though it wasn't her faultThere are so many other pubs that offer far better food and value for money. It's a shame as the decor is nice and it has the potential to really be a lovely place. It needs more waiters and waitresses, offer table service rather than have to pay at the bar and more attention to detail and fire the chef... that roast is a disgrace for the price you pay!

A member of staff was hardly moving, it took her about 15 minutes to pour us tea. When we said we had to go as we were running out of time, they didn't happen to have takeaway cups, refunded us only for 1 cup out of two and literally ripped the second cup off my hands when I was trying to have at least a sip before running off. For the pub manager, this was on Saturday 21st between 2-3pm. Disgusting.

The food was served promptly we had a chicken salad and fish and chips both dishes were good. The served a broad range of beers, I ordered the smoked porter, although served from a can and not draft was disappointing however it tasted good. Eclectic crowd there which was good to see.

Disappointing dinner experience. The interior could definitely benefit from a makeover. It's very dated and tired looking. The service was ok. Food was disappointing. Chicken was all bones and not pre specified in menu (I assumed it will be breast since Douthern Fried is usually breast). Fish was ok but made us sick later! The place lacks atmosphere and could do with a re vampDisappointing for such a good location

Had a family lunch here recently, but was disappointed with the experience. The pub looks a bit grotty from the outside, despite being on the prestigious Kings Road. The interior shows some signs of a developing personality - however, it is just not quite right. There was a slight smell of urine as we entered which would have put us off completely had it not been for the torrential rain outside. The table was too high for the ill-placed sofas - our party had to transfer to higher chairs in order to reach their plates. The food was mediocre but passable. My cous cous/quinoa salad did not taste nice. The others seemed to enjoy their meals - burgers, fish and chips etc. however the portions were all a little underwhelming. The staff were friendly, but there was no buzz or atmosphere here - it feels like a work in progress, and needs a good restyle and decent chef to get it back on track.

Had cocktails and a sharing platter with a friend with a fantastic view over Trafalgar Square with views towards the London Eye. It is an outdoor terrace with varying things on the menu and a good choice of cocktails. For best views a high stool at the roof edge is best.

I entered this place tonight with a friend of mine. For reference, we are 31 and 27 years old respectively. When we headed to the bar in order to get our first round of drinks (of the night) the waiter asked to see our IDs. I want to emphasise that it was our first round of the night so that there is not doubt that we were neither drank nor showing an inappropriate attitude that could have made anyone not want to serve us a couple of beers. We are spaniards, so the only available proof of identity we had on hand was our spanish ID, and that was what we showed to him. Well, surprisingly that was "not valid there" according to him so we were asked for a different proof of identity. He took out a sign with all the valid proof of identities that they would accept in the place (basically British passport and a few others). It came to my mind that I also had my european driving license, so I gave it to him and that seemed to please him. My friend did not have the driving license on her so in the end we were not allowed to order our drinks and we went through a fairly embarrassing experience. We were discriminated in a way I could not believe and there was nothing we could do about it (at the time) so we left the place. I am not sure if what they did is legal but we will definitely take legal action soon. If you are not British, avoid this place by all means, they are xenophobic

There's pubs everywhere you look in London but here's one to seek out if you're in Kensington/Chelsea. Very comfortable setting and really good food that (as I'm fond of saying) hits the sweet spot between the basic pub offerings (pies, fish/chips, bangers/mash) and the "gasto-pubs" that try to hard to out-impress each other. I had a really nice meal that started with a salmon appetizer that was generous and tasty and the fried chicken dinner that came with nice slaw. A winner.

Vintage styled pub with unique furnishings and a great Sunday roast. Here you will find the families of Chelsea enjoying a large Sunday lunch in the comfortable sofas and around the different styled tables. Also not your typical Chelsea bartenders and waiters - and that's a good thing.

I had been here in the past and it was a good experience. This time it was noon and I was walking by when they just opened. Tried different types of cider (some of them very good) and had the smoked salmon as a starter and the plain hamburger as a main. I was not disappointed by any of them. And the french fries were also very good and plenty. To finish a very good coffee. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the patrons very nice and helpful. I will certainly go back again.

I went to the Trafalgar today, for lunch with a girlfriend. I love the quirky decor, the place is roomy and has lots of interesting furniture. Very helpful and friendly staff. Excellent selection of food, we were spoiled for choice. Excellent weekday offer of 2 courses for £12 is highly recommended (and portions are not tiny). I can recommend the flatbread, sweet potato fries and chicken wings. House wine £18 a bottle which is remarkable for SW3. I will definitely go back.

Although from the US, we stay in the Kings Road area of London at least twice a year --- and the Trafalgar is a spot we’ve gone to time and time again over years and have never been disappointed. There is a true sense of a commitment to customer service and in our opinion the food and is a cut above (although, to be honest, often we’re stopping by for a pint or a glass of wine.) Particularly enjoyable is the eclectic seating options --- from traditional tables to clustered groupings of older chairs, sofas and tables. It’s all quite enjoyable, and only enhanced by good, friendly and efficient service.

For many years I used Greenfields where I received consistently outstanding courteous, friendly, and swift service. Now where are they? Food quality was always the highest and prices reasonable but creeping up forced upon them by rapacious landlord happy to cede their territory to the growing French / Belgian community. Was it not Bonaparte who referred to the English as a "nation of shopkeepers"? Is it not ironic, therefore, that where he could not win at Waterloo his descendants could in South Ken....

We held a private event in The Oakley Room and everything was wonderful. Our service from Michaela was excellent - warm, friendly and personal. The food was amazing, even for our large party size. The events team were really helpful and responsive in the lead up to the event. I would definitely recommend and use The Phene again for future events.

Not many proper pubs left in London. This one has the pool table, shabby carpets, suspicious urinals, grumpy geezers. I love it. It used to do Thai food as well, that staple of the south west London pub scene in the nineties. I wish it still did, it feels like it does. This ain't for tourists, but to be it feels like the last spit and sawdust boozer in Chelsea and long may it stay that way.
