Last minute decision to call in on this hotel, so glad we did! The chicken and mushroom pie was fantastic!

A beautiful place! Very unpleasant staff, avoid them, bordering on insulting. I don't recommend it for a good memory of Liverpool; fortunately, there are many other beautiful things in this city.

It was a wonderful restaurant just as the reviews said. I made a reservation so I was able to be seated right away. Even though I can't drink alcohol, I somehow managed to enjoy Nicholson's Pale Ale. And I didn't get drunk! I visited because I heard that Jiyong Lennon sometimes came here, and the pie and beer were delicious! I recommend it.

Eryn was friendly and gave us excellent service, many thanks. The food was alright, but our choice was very limited, as most of the dishes contain garlic, which two of our party can't eat. Why can't the kitchen provide seabass or fishcakes without garlic? Even the chicken and mushroom pie has garlic in it.

Classic Victorian building with great service

Amazing place, great food and service. Even when my sausages arrived cold, they were swapped immediately and I got a free pint 🍻. We will be back next time we visit Liverpool ❤️

Fantastic family event at the Philharmonic always deliver with great service and family staff. Big shout out to Tom and Sean who have been super with great service and friendly manner.

We were a large party of fifteen, eleven of whom are French and on their first trip to the UK. Our meals were delicious, the decor and ambiance exceptional, including of course a look in at the men's toilets! The staff: Emily and AJ worked really hard and made our evening brilliant.. Wonderful historic building, with nice staff and very good food. A good selection of beers also to suit all tastes.

Lovely building, atrocious beer. We returned the first pint, the send pint was also awful. We left without finishing the drinks. A real shame. The current cellar keeper is letting the team down.

Absolutely love this place. If you are visiting Liverpool, especially from overseas, do yourselves a big favour and visit this place and take the time to have a couple of pints. The atmosphere is classic Liverpool old school pub. No annoying music just the sound of people talking and having fun. Been a favourite of mine for more than 30 years since Uni.

Siete de nosotros visitamos el Phil para almorzar como parte de una reunión, celebrando 50 años desde que dejamos Liverpool. En aquellos días, el almuerzo era un sándwich de huevo y media cerveza, pero el menú se ha extendido desde entonces! Nos atendieron muy bien por nuestra camarera, Tia, que era extremadamente agradable y servicial. La comida era deliciosa y variada, con algo para atraer a todos los gustos, desde pastel de conejo hasta bocadillos de Fish Finger. Los alrededores son fabulosos, mucha madera oscura, pulida y espejos. Los baños de hombres son una atracción turística con su mármol victoriano y mosaicos. Realmente disfrutamos de un almuerzo muy memorable, gracias a todos en el Phil. Ciertamente no parecían 50 años desde que pasamos todos los viernes almorzando allí y no podemos esperar a regresar en un futuro muy cercano.

Traje amigos de Suecia, les había dicho lo icónica que era la Filarmónica y estaban encantados con todo el lugar. El servicio fue genial también, mis visitantes notaron esto e hicieron comentarios al respecto. Disfrutamos de los pasteles también.

Hermoso edificio histórico catalogado de grado 1. Buena selección de comida para satisfacer a todos los apetites - el Club Sandwich era enorme. Creo que tienen una gran elección de cerveza, pero estábamos en refrescos. Excelente servicio de Tia, gracias.

My wife and I saw this beautiful establishment, read about it and went inside to grab lunch May 1st at 11:00am. We walked in, went to the bar and asked to be seated. The young boy bartender told us they did not open until 11:00 and it was 10:58 so we needed to go back outside and wait. We did, then returned at 11:02. Then the older lady behind the bar stated they did not open until 12:00 so we would need to come back. So we walked back outside. Other people walked in and then came out with beers. This was so odd. I worked in England for 2 years and never had this happen. This was my wife’s first experience in England. What a disappointment. Hopefully someone will talk to these 2 employees. Anyway, we went down the way to another restaurant where we received great service, great food and a wonderful atmosphere.

Historic public house. Beautifully preserved grade 1 listed, with fantastic original woodwork and tiling throughout. Famous pink marble urinals (didn’t see them personally though 😂) stopped by off the city bus tour and had our free bubbly, but will be back to sample the good range of ales and beers available. Didn’t have time to stop and try the food, maybe next time but a must see historic pub and dinning rooms. 😊

Lovely building and nice food, close to the Philharmonic theatre. Although I do not agree with adding a tip to the bill - if I am happy with the service I will always leave one, but prefer to have the choice.

Famous pub not far from Liverpool city centre, renowned for the elaborate design of its gents toilets. In a city well off for unusual tourist attractions, this must have one of the most unusual claims to fame. Be sure to book in advance if you're planning to eat here as it's very popular, but fine just to turn up if you're only going for a drink. Good service and a decent selection of beers on tap. Fabulous interior decoration throughout helps create a great atmosphere that sets it apart from other pubs. This attention to detail throughout the building has afforded it grade I listed status.

Amazing decor, great range of beers and reasonably priced. Well worth a visit. The "famous" toilets though that people seem to rave about, I thought were a bit shabby and in need of sprucing up.

Be careful, the atmosphere in the restaurant is much calmer (sad) than in the pub on the ground floor! This is normal but you need to know it. The food is great and the service is friendly!

Had a great meal here. Staff were great. My son is in a Wheelchair and was not a problem . Love the dark old pub atmosphere.

What an amazing experience. I imagine it as opulent as the Titanic (without the wet sinky bit). The male toilets are a must visit attraction, but be warned, it's widely acknowledged that the aroma is a little potent due to being unable to use chemicals. It's spotlessly clean, though
