Had dinner here on a Friday night. Beautiful dining room upstairs. Great service from James and Joe, and the food was incredible. Our group of three had the Fish Pie, Fish and Chips and the Grilled Seabass, all outstanding. Was intrigued by the Rabbit Pie also, next time! Downstairs was messy, but it was a busy Friday night in fairness. The famous toilets, which we'd heard so much about, could definitely have done with a bit of a rub down!

It was my first time here and I was thoroughly looking forward to it, I was however very disappointed. The building, the history and the atmosphere of the place was amazing but the beer was shocking. We had a Black sheep beer, which we drink regularly and it was awful, the worst pint we have ever had. It tasted like they had just dipped our glass in the Mersey! More attention to the beer to fit in with the fabulous surroundings wouldn't go amiss. Sorry, but won't be coming back until you sort your beer out. Such a shame.

I booked a table for two and we ordered a Sunday roast at around 13:50. At 15:10 we were told there was some issue with the ticketing system and our order had now been registered. We were into just into our second beer and were told they could buy us a drink on the house. No way did we want another beer. I visited the toilet which was disgusting. The stench of urine was awful. We left the establishment at 15.30, almost two hours since we ordered.Truly terrible.

Excellent building that takes you back in time. The photos and other reviews do it justice. The bar area on the ground floor was busy (5 p.m on a Friday), but worth a look around at the original decor and yes ladies, the gents are worth a view for all the marble. Whilst it was original a bit of maintenance wouldn't go amiss. Hand dryers not working etc. In fact the whole of the interior could do with a tidy up. We ate in the Dining Room upstairs. Excellent service and excellent food. Sea bass and the venison pie worth trying. Totally recommend.

It was my first visit to Liverpool and found out that this place is a must visit. Still suffering from jet lag, I decided to pop in around 5pm - which I later found out that it's the usual dinner time for Brits. Ordered a dark lager and the ocean fish and chips (how can you not order that in England). The batter was perfect, thought not a fan of peas puree that accompanied the dish. The service rendered by Ashley and Eryn was excellent though. I may come back again to try their steak, looks promising.

I booked a table for pre-show dining. We only wanted one course, so went for a 5.30 booking and this gave us plenty of time to eat, pay & head over to the Phil before the show. Service was excellent & the team were unfazed by my weird allergy, making sure my dish came from the upstairs kitchen. We all chose pie & mash, which was excellent. The beer was fab. The place was, as always, incredibly busy pre-show, yet Tia, Ashley & Violet provided friendly & efficient service with smiles & good humour. The bar staff were also ace. We really must try & remember to come here when we're not dashing off to a show immediately afterwards! Thank you, everyone.

Visit this place in daytime as it seems at night it loses most of it's charm. The lights are VERY dim and I couldn't tell I'm visiting somewhere exceptional but from the entrance. Beer selection also wasn't in my taste range. I tried Tribute and Nicholsoy(?) - it was like drinking water. So if you visit, stick to the known brands. Other than that - service is good and there's always people around for the atmosphere. Book in advance if you want to order food.

We booked for the dining rooms but that was closed for some reason that was not explained to us. We were seated in the bar and it was just so loud and rowdy, which is to be expected on a Saturday night but did not make for a pleasant dining experience. The fish pie was sub-par not as much fish as you would expect. The staff were great but nobody wants to pay over £100 to eat dinner with people screaming their heads off and doing shots around them.

Three of us ate here. The sharing starter was fab. My sausage and mash was yummy, although it was my second choice as my first choice was unavailable. Both my husband and my friend thought their main course was nice but not delicious. My husband had steak which was rather fatty. My friend had chicken pie which was dry and would have benefitted from a lot more sauce in it or gravy on the side.

The Philharmonic Dinning Rooms (The Phil) on Hope street is an amazing Victorian era pub that offer's a fantastic food and drinks range and this fantastic pub is considered to be the most ornate pub in England. Constructed between the year's 1898-1900 this brilliant Victorian pub had an amazing multi-roomed'Multi-floored interior with lots of interesting fixture's throughout the pub's ornate interior. Theres superb wood panelling and stained glass windows and chandeliers and there's many more interesting features throughout it's multi-roomed interior far to many to put on a review of this size.We have been here hundreds of times over the years and its as good now as when we first went here many years ago. We visited here early in the afternoon on a freezing cold day and it was fairly busy.We ordered a few cask ales at the bar and sat in a side room. The beers we had were from the St Austell Brewery which where 1st rate but they where very expensive at £5.55 for two halfs of cask ales. This pub is without a doubt one of the most ornate pub's you will ever visit and if you're ever around this area of Liverpool pay it a visit you won't be disappointed.
