Went for a birthday celebration yesterday, many different meals had, all were delicious. Thankyou

Been coming her for many years now. Never disappoints. Food delicious. Staff super friendly and helpful. Relaxing and warm atmosphere. We want it all to ourselves ❤️❤️

The perfect stop between Cambridge Station and Cambridge United! If I lived closer I'd find plenty of other excuses to go

Went for Sunday lunch, unfortunately the food was very bad, stone cold, and the ‘roast’ potatoes were rock hard, they had presumably only been read a short story about an oven. Can only really justify 2 stars as the bar staff were lovely. The kitchen really needs to look at itself, charging £20 per roast, yikes.

Lovely place to spend the evening. Food was excellent and considering how busy they are pretty speedy too. Friendly staff. I’d recommend booking a week or two in advance.

Came here after my sisters funeral asked to vacate my table in 15 minutes bad service no respect

Nice little dining pub but make sure you book, they don’t seem to welcome walk-ins, not even for just drinks. One barman who was backlogged with table orders, nobody helping him, so a 15 minute wait for a simple pint of beer and a G&T. Second round not much faster so gave up and ate elsewhere.

I’ve cycled past this establishment multiple times a week for the past 2 years and just had the pleasure of being a patron on Sunday! We booked a table a few weeks in advance for 6 of us and had a lovely time. The Sunday roast was delicious! We had a combination of vegetarian and Omni dishes and everyone agreed that it was at the top of our list for roasts in Cambridge. We’ll definitely be back to try some other items.

£2 for a slice of cheese on a £15 burger which it already was supposed to come with according to the menu. I did get offered £1 off my bill for the inconvenience. (Not taken… this better be the best slice of cheese on a burger I ever taste!). Ale tastes vinegary which was meant to be fruity. Also doesn’t have a cash option.

I know the team but, for me, this is a fabulous pub with great food and some great inclusive events. We went to a fab Christmas drag queen event there on Saturday evening and it was the most perfect vibes. Tons of fun!

Very welcoming, accommodating and friendly staff; everything done with a smile. Food, Roast Beef, was brilliant, seasonal veg cooked perfectly and hearty portion sizes. Atmosphere is exceptional, roaring fire - all in with more than reasonable prices. Fantastic place.

We had found this place last year when we came up for a football match and had such a great meal we had to come back, this time for Sunday lunch although we did pop in as we were passing the day before for a couple of beers and a sit in the garden which was lovely The team were very accommodating with our booking ahead of time as I couldn’t book online so emailed them and they were happy to sort it We had a delicious meal with a nice bottle of red. We had beef which was super tender and still pink which should be easy for food establishments but so often doesn’t happen. The accompaniments were also delicious especially the cauliflower cheese which we got as an extra. Absolutely delicious We’ll definitely back next April when we come back up for football

Found this place by chance and had an early dinner with the family. The place was cozy and the staff super friendly. They had a kids menu which was handy with the kids. My wife had the pork belly special and I had the fish and chips and both were phenomenal. Would certainly come back again.

Lovely but 5 something for a 35ml of Laphroaig round the corner at Geldart. The Pilgrim ale from Norfolk is something unique.

Great place to visit, especially on the weekend when they have a pub quiz on the Sunday and a brunch option on the Saturday. In order to enter the pub quiz you should book ahead as it does get busy and also a little bit noisy.

The Petersfield was suggested as a place to visit for lunch. So, after a 30 minute train journey and 15 minute walk from the station we arrived to a nice looking pub , both outside and in. As we made our way to the bar, there was the sign, CARDS ONLY. not being in possession of a card between us, we were forced to beat a retreat and find another establishment. Such a disappointment. I have looked on the website and can find no noticeable reference to card only. I have marked as such because we felt let down and somewhat discriminated against by not having a card.

The Harissa Mac&Cheese was an interesting experience. Toilets being out of order not so much.

Ordered via QR code, server gave me wrong drink and was sure that it was what I ordered. Nice enough to change it but when I checked the order, I was correct :)

Fantastic back street gem of a pub! Had the Bavette steak, cooked to perfection with an incredible rich mushroom sauce (very different to the standard creamy version you usually get) A side of courgette fries with garlic mayo and parmesan was an absolute revelation. A nearby table had a "sandwich" which looked amazing, huge and well above average. Fantastic service from a great manager topped off a lovely midweek afternoon. Worth the walk out of town...

What a lovely place, i came for the first time for dinner and we sat outside, the food was delicious and the staff was super nice and helpful! This pub is definitely one of my favourite place to go for now!

There are locals and then there are locals... And then there are families where you go for dinner and a pint. This is the latter. It is cozy and warm by the fire in winter, and sunny and breezy in the back garden in the spring and summer. The menu changes with the seasons and avoids pub fare in an accessible and delightful way. The food simply never disappoints. The managers and staff actually care, about their customers and each other. They work their butts off and always manage to have a smile in their back pocket when you walk through the door. A true Cambridge pub, for true Cantabrigians.

Had the pleasure to enjoy a lovely dinner at The Petersfield on Wednesday evening the pub has a great cozy atmosphere with great location, food was amazing and the service was absolutely outstanding! I would like to say a special thank you to the girls working there Cherece and Eppie who turned our evening into a truly fantastic experience with outstanding service and friendliness!

Had a lovely evening in this warm and friendly pub. The food was tasty and well presented and the service exceptional. The 2 ladies working the bar and serving even when busy made time to talk to all the customers, making sure everyone had what they needed. Because they were so lovely we asked their names so that we could recommend them to our friends, Eppie and Cherece will make sure your evening is memorable, I highly recommend .

We had an fantastic Sunday roast at the Petersfield, service was amazing ! Soon as we arrived for our booking we were greeted by the lovely Chereece and was looked after the whole entire time. Chereece was excellent with taking our order promptly and gave us a wide and knowledgeable range of beverages to accompany our meal. Overall a great experience and we will be coming back very soon !!

Visited yesterday for a Sunday lunch and can honestly say it was the best roast I’ve had out in a long time! It was very busy which was nice and the food came out promptly. Only slight criticism would be that the sausages could have been a bit more premium for our pigs in blankets and I was missing a bit of braised red cabbage- other than that, amazing!

We went here on Valentine's Evening on a whim really to escape the kids and what an excellent idea that turned out to be.This place has a truly warm and welcoming ambience (all too rare these days in my opinion).The staff were sociable, funny & friendly and the food..WOW! We were both blown away.Each course was lovelier than the last and yet so different,,,who has ever heard of Wild Mushroom Cappuccino? It was sublime and all good value for money too.Salmon and prawns with quail's eggs, Chateaubriand steak, melted cheese on brioche and a delectable melt in your mouth chocolate pudding to finish off with.We really enjoyed ourselves and rate it an eleven out of ten.They do really care and it does really show.

As a local have regularly drunk here on Friday evening enjoying the atmosphere, however never again. This evening I ordered a round of drinks, which included 2 pints of ale. Both pints didn’t taste right I returned them, swapping them for another. We then watched as the same pints, after sitting in the side for 15 mins or so were then topped up and subsequently sold to another customer!! Outrageous!! Avoid, and go to the Cambridge Blue!!!

My experience does not merit a return visit. I had very average fish and chips with too many peas and not enough chips. The most frustrating part is that I booked a table for 4 people online about 2 weeks in advance and we were given a small round table by the door so we were squished and uncomfortable. The place was full so perhaps they save the better tables for their regulars. Service was pleasant though but it didn't make up for the terrible table and average food.

Just returned from Friday night dinner at The Petersfield. The food is stunning. Cooked by a chef. The wine is top quality and the beer is brilliant (lines respectfully cleared weekly). We eat out a lot. We are not easily pleased. But The Petersfield delivers across a number of elements: in terms of quality of food, atmosphere.and service. They (meaning Sherise and Elspeth) REALLY care. Thank you both for delivering on all levels. See you again very soon! (ps Their Sunday roasts are to die for!).

4 of us came in today for Sunday lunch. My daughter booked for my Birthday visit to Cambridge. All I can say is it was honestly the best Roast Lunch I have ever had out. Just delicious. We all loved our food, the brilliant service from Cherece was an added bonus - it would be worth a visit for a bit of banter with her! We will be back whenever we are in Cambridge....

What a delight to find this attractive and excellent venue hidden in Cambridge. It’s full of atmosphere and peaceful ambiance. Very friendly staff..first class beers and simple food for all tastes. A true treasure of the beaten track. Excellent in all respects.

What a disappointing experience. I’ve been a fan and regular of the Petersfield ever since it opened four years ago, attending the quiz every week. It’s never been great for vegetarians but it has now got so bad it’s almost a joke in 2021. We had dinner there last night and there was one - ONE - vegetarian dish on the menu. A curry. I won’t say one vegetarian “choice” because there was no choice. I assumed there must be a separate veggie/vegan menu and went up to the bar to ask, but no. I was told by two waiting staff, both clearly embarrassed and appalled, that the managers of the chain the Petersfield belongs to had banned them from offering more veggie options. In 2021!!!!!!! Just when the rest of the country is wising up to the need for less meat consumption, the Petersfield is forced to offer fewer alternatives. We’ll continue to visit the pub for their quiz but not for dinner. The listing here on TripAdvisor includes the categories “vegetarian friendly” and “vegan friendly” but this is now a trades description issue and should be taken down.

What can I say about Katie and the team at The Petersfield??? To sum it up quickly, they made our wedding day! We searched for pub venues in Cambridge for our wedding for a few weeks, but when we walked in the doors on The Petersfield, we were sold immediately. The staff were welcoming from the opening moment and they could no do enough to help us organise the day we had envisaged. The pub is bloody lovely, a proper boozer with great drinks and even better food. I can't tell you how many people commented on the Sausage Rolls - the best EVER. Our guests all commented on how amazing the staff were on the night too. Fun, helpful and friendly. Katie, in particular, was a dream to work with, she helped us plan our special day with no stress at all. We booked a table by phone for 3 for 6.30 on a Monday night. We ordered food, which came promptly and was good. But at 8.10 we were told that our table was booked by another party at 8.15 and we had to move; we still had drinks on the go and could not be offered another table. We remonstrated that we had been given no indication on booking that there was a limited time slot for our visit. The response was a shrug; apparently we should have known that there was a maximum 2 hour reservation period for a table and we must now drink up and go to the bar or leave - even though we had only been sitting for 1 hour 45 minutes. We said that we had never before had this treatment in a Cambridge pub. The response this time was to ask us, arrogantly, if we had ever been in a city pub before! And we also should know that the Petersfield is really a restaurant! Well, we won’t be going back.

Visited The Petersfield for the second time with some friends. Food was very tasty although I thought my main was very overpriced for what it was. I ordered the Burrito bowl which consisted of a coconut based ‘sour cream’, a very tasty salsa, guacamole, rice, fried beans and a corn salad. It was priced at £12 and I paid £3 extra for 3 mixed bean falafels. If they had been included then it would have been fine, but my fellow diners had a venison pie and sea bass stew for the same price. Still, the food was tasty. We decided to order food and this is where the small main portion was compensated for! We all had the sticky toffee pudding which was a huge slab, probably twice the size of what is usually served in any other restaurant! Not complaining here, I love STP. Also like that the pub offer 20% off of food for local residents so it really does make it worth it. Will be returning again.

The Petersfield is my local so I go there a lot and often take visiting guests coming from out of Cambridge. The ambiance is great, food pretty good, and quiz night a lot of fun. Staff relatively friendly, once you get over the 'hipster' aloofness. Main issue is that Petersfield team keep messing up - twice they have taken a booking and then we have arrived on the day to nothing on the calendar. Then the General Manager failed to provide any solutions or incentives to return on the second occurrence. Furthermore, we have had ordering mishaps too, with much the same reaction..."sorry" but that's it. So, I'd recommend Petersfield for popping in, but take care if you are relying on a booking and on showing off Cambridge to anyone!

I visited as a family of three for brunch one Saturday. We had only booked that day, so were lucky to get in as all the tables seemed to be reserved when we arrived.

5 of us ate here on Sunday having booked a table at 5pm. The pub was very busy and appeared understaffed with only 3 staff members. Next to us in the dining area was a table of 12 and a table of 4 with a young baby. The large table returned their main meal several times complaining of it being cold. The staff member (a young man who seemed to be in charge that night) was very apologetic and offered a reduction on the bill. The table of 4 made no complaint until leaving when one of the females on the table shouted for all to hear that everything had been awful - food and service. The waiter apologised and offered a reduction to which the women laid in to the waiter even more and caused a scene. He dealt with the matter very professionally. I might add that our meal was very good and no complaints. We could see the staff were overworked and took this in to consideration. We thanked them on leaving. the poor staff were fraught! We will be back which I hope will not be said for the unpleasant and free-loading diners that night!

Our workplace is near to Petersfield. Atmosphere is good. We have been eating out here several times. When it reopened after refurbishment the shef was very good. The menu was better with good choices of food. Now the dinner menu is not much different from the lunch menu. The side salad is just full of vinegar. Not edible. I asked for salad with my fish and the salad was just awful. Only tasted the vinegar. I asked my friend/ colleague to taste it and she also said it was just horrible. The fish was quite oily. The soft drinks are overpriced. Previously we had dinner here and from very good it became mediocre. Not going there again as from my last 3 visits I had sort of the same problem with the food.

Came here for a couple drinks with some girlfriends, we had an amazing time and Tom kept us topped up with beer and then made the best Bloody Mary ever we have ever tried, safe to say we will be returning, the collection of games kept us going all day! Toms service was amazing, we loved spending our day here!
