We didn't try the food, but the shuffleboard and drinks were great! I love the barrel pods, they are unique and create a private yet social area

Had an amazing time. The waitress was spot on, food was lovely. Atmosphere great. Will definitely go again.

Lovely food, great choice of meals and drink, including draught beers. Food presented lovely and delicious, good price for the portions.Friendly staff. The best thing about the place is atmosphere. Plenty of tables, downstairs and upstairs and some outside as well.

Cold hamburgers, not fresh bread and long wait. Standard variety of beers. In the pub the loud music prevents talking: don't go!

Ordered the steak frites and burger, best part was the fries. Both lacked basic seasoning and burger dried out the mouth completely form a dry patty and a "brioche" bun. Below average average burger

Painfully loud music! Impossible to conduct a conversation. I am sure that during the day it would be fine... otherwise a good bar ruined ☹️ nice food, though 🤓

What’s to say about a place like this.. after trawling reviews online for roasts to eat in Cambridge I came across this one and was hoping this would be the perfect end to a lovely romantic getaway with my boyfriend. We ordered and within 5mins of ordering our food arrived this was a surprise considering there were a fair few tables occupied. It all made sense to though when I bit into that first potato.. hard and stale, clearly this whole dish had been left out plated cold and put under heaters for hours before serving. The Yorkshire to give it credit was the only good thing , probably because they take 5min to cook so likely the only fresh thing on the plate. The stuffing was extremely dry and claggy , the cabbage tasted worse than the smell of the London Underground on a sticky summers day. The potatoes were clearly frozen aunt Bessie’s and were really dry. The booth of sorts we were sat in was extremely uncomfortable and had almost no space for your legs , this wasn’t appreciated. Overall for nearly £20 per person we were extremely disappointed. I’ve eaten a roast for half the price and double the flavour & at least some fresh items.

Super venue, be prepared for a fun night out. Can get very noisy and chaotic, but maybe this is the fun of this place 😀

Large and spacious pub with many things to do. We had a blast playing shuffleboard till closing. Didn’t try the food but would come back!

Πήγαμε απόγευμα για φαγητό κ μπίρα. Σχετικά μικρή ποικιλία σε μπίρες. Η εξυπηρέτηση χρειάζεται βελτίωση καθώς έπρεπε να ενημερώσουμε για να μαζέψει τα ποτήρια απτους προηγούμενους. Επίσης ένα απτά ποτήρια ήταν ραγισμένο.

A bit different than some bars around the City. Great if you can get a seat.

Amazing atmosphere, nice drinks and great staff, make sure to give them a smile and crack a joke if they don't look too busy.

Wouldn’t recommend ordering on the app, someone else on our table who ordered at the bar had their food come within 15 minutes, we had to wait about an hour and remind the bar staff (who were very lovely) twice before our food eventually came.

Visited here with friends in November. Lovely place with a genuinely fun atmosphere, staff were friendly and food was really enjoyable! We were hoping to stay for 3 courses (as we had travelled a long way to catch up with friends) but after our main a member of staff informed us that the next booking would be arriving in half an hour and they would need the table. So we went elsewhere for dessert. Not a problem, but it would have been nice to be given the option to book a longer slot in advance.

What an amazing pub. Only popped in for a couple of drinks but was blown away by the place.

We travelled from London to have our Christmas party here & it was beautiful but the food was awful. Our food especially the turkey was so dry, none of us ate the food.

Went on a Friday night with a group of people. Seems setup as a very social venue (shuffleboard, plenty of drinks tables) but the music was so loud it was impossible to talk. We all left after a couple of drinks exhausted! However I'd like to go back for the theatre upstairs.

We attended for the Grease bottomless brunch. The staff were very attentive making sure our drinks were kept topped up. The food was lovely and there was plenty of it, including popcorn whilst watching the film. Some members of the group had never been to Town and Gown before but will definitely be returning!

hi, went here with my parents. We ordered two pina coladas and a cup of tea. We had ordered at 19:02 and it is currently 19:22 and we still haven’t received anything. I assume when it arrives tea will be cold. When we ordered at the bar the first time, there were line skippers and the staff didn’t care at all. The customer service was appalling tbh, not only is this bar busy, but the barman currently on is only interested in serving the younger and more attractive people than the elder people we’ve watched try to order, they were completely ignored.

ordered 7 white claws and started a fight. 5 stars. BOSH

Spectacular atmosphere with inspiring artists and good English beer.

Visited during the day on a Sunday and it was very quiet. Didn't eat but good selection of beer and the Rivertown Pilsner was spot on. I loved the way this place is designed mainly plus there's a free shuffleboard which is good fun and a good thing to get people chatting to each other. Probably my favourite pub in Cambridge during my weekend visit, taking in about 15 pubs.

Food great staff were welcoming. Well worth a visit.

Changed my review from 5 stars to 1. Service is horrendous now. No customer service skills whatsoever. Complained after our last visit and was told we should see an improvement. Back here and no different and empty on a Sunday. Food came and was stone cold. Gave the food back, had a refund and left. Such a waste of a nice venue.

OK, dark & a bit grubby, but alright for a central place to meet-up before moving on elsewhere.

Booked a table for 2045 specifically selected the food menu. Got there at 2042. To be told - the kitchen closed 30mins ago and that it would have been ok if I had arrived 30mins earlier. Unprofessional. Poor service. Not even apologetic. We left. And will never return. And if you’re reading this. Then maybe go somewhere else that actually is competent and values their customers.

The place seems beautiful! Drinks are quite good but I still haven't tried food there. By skimming through the menu though I can tell that it offers some interesting choices.

We hired the upstairs bar, theatre and terrace area of the Town & Gown for the evening reception for about 100 people following our wedding in Cambridge. It was an absolutely excellent choice and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic events space with decent capacity right in the centre of Cambridge. The space itself was fantastic: we were able to set the theatre up with a dance floor and space for a live band to perform, which with the theatre lighting created a proper party atmosphere. The bar and terrace provided much more chilled spaces for guests to hang out and chat. The service we received was first-rate. In advance of the booking Harley, who was responsible for the event, went out of his way to ensure it would be exactly as we wanted it. He really could not have been more helpful. This included arranging for the theatre lighting to be configured as we wanted it, helping to set up and run a projector slideshow of photos in the bar area, and even arranging for the bar's Pride flags to be flying outside on the day of our event. On the night the service was friendly and super efficient. We had been worried there would be queues for drinks at the bar but it all ran incredibly smoothly. All in all we were delighted with the experience.

Town and Gown is a large, beautifully designed downtown pub in Cambridge. The spacious interior covers two levels (a second bar and the loos are on the upper level), and the décor is rather spectacular, certainly the most beautiful I've seen in the city centre. The outside seating area to the front is rather small by comparison. A limited cask selection is augmented by plenty of kegged beers. The loos are modern and clean. Prices aren't exactly low, but they aren't anywhere else in the area either. Really a place you have to visit in Cambridge when you're tired from visiting all those colleges.

We stopped by for a quick drink to shelter from the rain. There's nice and cosy seating downstairs, and the bar looks great. The cocktails were nice

Visited for lunch with a group of 10. Service was slow as there was only one member of staff on the floor. Food was edible, but nothing worth going back for unfortunately. Struggled to provide dairy alternatives to milk for coffee/tea.

Quite a quiet venue during the day. But at night it really comes alive.

We were on a day out with a dog and a mobility scooter user and we were trying to find somewhere that would accommodate our requirements and we find this amazing establishment, the staff were really friendly and they had water bowls for dogs.They didn't have a huge menu selection but what they did have was well cooked hot and very enjoyable, we ordered 3 meals 2 side dishes and 2 double gins and that came to around £54 which i don't think is to bad, overall i would highly recommend

Amazing food, fantastic hospitality

Was very quiet when I visited as it was a Friday lunch time. Asked server for a few extra minutes to decide on order, though she didn't return so eventually ordered at the bar but no big deal. Food was quick, I assume as it was quiet, couldn't fault it- I have a club sandwich which was delicious. The only real moan is how squished the booth was, anyone with legs longer than a child will struggle! But I would happily return.

The venue is incredible and so beautiful! The staff are so friendly and went above and beyond. The reason for the 4 stars is because we didn't think the food was that great at all

Brilliant Mcmullens pub/theatre/events venue. A quite new opening (2020) converted from a bar and before that an arts cinema. Has that unique theatre bar feel. Full range of Mcmullens beers etc. Lots of varied seating spaces and levels. Love the shuffle puck table, spent an hour playing on it a big plus for the pub. 👍 from Matty x

We saw a Anglia Ruskin University show, Actors, Story, Show excellent. We very much enjoyed it, good value for money 💷.

What a great place tucked away down a side street in the center of Cambridge. My wife and I booked tickets for show that included dinner beforehand. Lovely meal and wonderful show. Well done to all the waiting staff and chef, and well done to the actors for putting on a very interesting show on the life of Alan Turing - thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Will be back!

Elvis Lesley last night was hilarious. Such a fantastic couple of hours. Arrived early for the Pre Theatre Set Meal and seated straight away, no fish and chips left and when told to choose anything from the main menu, no burgers either. The puddings were lush, especially the lemon tart. All in all a thoroughly good time and will definitely go to another show...

Worst cocktails & huge wait for them, Decour and music is great but bar that I would avoid

Visited on a Saturday night after a recommendation. The entrance area was filled with blokes that had obviously taken all the drugs Cambridge has to offer. There were two members of staff working the bar area, and they managed to serve a single pint over a 10 minute period. We ended up not getting served and leaving pretty sharpish.

Lovely building , set up etc had visited before and seemed nice however this weekend took family members in and was totally shocked with the reception from the barman . Absolutely no manners , grunted , no please or thank you - nothing ! A bloke with a ginger ish beard ? Please teach him how to be respectful to your costumers . He was just so rude with a bad attitude not only my group but the table next to us said the same. This was about 4 o’clock on the Saturday . We decided not to eat there and enjoyed a visit else where .

Love the interior design of this place, there was live piano music this time, tasty sunday roast and very good service! Highly recommend

Usually like this place but last night 5 of us were given a table directly next to a big speaker blasting music so we asked if it would be possible to move so we could hear each other and didn’t have to shout and we were told they were booked up so didn’t have space to move us so I asked if we could just take one of the many empty tables and then whoever was booked to sit there could have our 6 seater table. The guy said that they had booked all their booths for 2 people so this would cause a ‘spacing issue’ ??? It didn’t make any sense so we ended up just leaving and had to find somewhere else to go for food at short notice on a Saturday…not the best way to do business…
