Such a cool place!!!! I'd love to go back. I only came here for drinks but the place offered a fantastic vegan main and pudd!

Kain was so attentive and provided great service! Loved the cocktails and the general vibe.

Great place it's brilliant inside a massive surprise from the outside.

Proper lively gaff, with live entertainment. I tapped the floor so hard I broke the board and had to go hospital to get a foot rub by a naughty nurse 🙃

Ordered a bunch or roasts! There was some confusion over what food was ordered. The mistakes were taken on and we were sorted out nicely by the staff. Jada and Annie where very understanding and patient. Food was great. Service perfect. Very happy

The food was ok. Everything was overcooked. The portions are small so we remained hungry. The service was fine, very friendly staff.

After spending a few hours of shopping and touring Cambridge, we happened upon Town and Gown. The atmosphere is pretty laid back, so it was a great spot to relax. There are three floors, but the barrel booths on the first floor were the absolute cutest! You can choose where to sit. Once you've figured out what you want, you walk up to the bar and order. The food was pretty good, but my virgin pornstar martini was delicious!!! It is tucked away in an alley, so keep a sharp eye out for it.

Fantastic service and superb cocktails

I'm so glad we found this place and ventured in. From the outside it is hard to see that it is a restaurant and pub but it is and it has loads of seating. Everywhere else we walked past in Cambridge was rammed but there was ample seating here. We struggled to make our minds up what to choose from the menu and everything we saw coming out of the kitchen looked great. In the end weopted for the roast chicken and were very happy. Perfectly roasted potatoes, 1/2 a chicken and veg. I thing it was about £19 which was a really good price. It was lovely to see families with children playing bar games, dogs are welcome and the staff were friendly, took time to chat and knew their products. The IPAs weregreat and I also had a lovely pint of mild (AK Mild from 1840) which you don't see often nowadays. If I'm back in Cambridge I'll certainly head back here. Forget the coffee shops and chain restaurants.

Good atmosphere, good amount of people inside, happy chatty staff. Pity it's still an expensive way to pass an evening like everywhere else 😀

Came in for a late Sunday lunch and was really impressed. As we walked around the family tried to sway us to go to one of the chains, but so glad we came here. Servers were so friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and able to accommodate our requests with little ones. Worth a visit for sure.

We went to the restaurant and the attention was really bad, the lady that worked there was extremely rude and the cocktails we asked for were bad with few beverage and expensive

I booked the Town and Gown for my friends Hen Party and what a night we had! I enquired to the Assistant Manager Jada over email, asking what she could offer us and she gave me brilliant customer service from the start! She helped me plan my friend’s Hen and made it really special. There were decorated bottles of Prosecco in ice buckets on the tables and the Bride had a dessert brought out to her that had “Congrats” written in chocolate on the plate. The food and drinks were amazing and we had a brilliant view for the live singer! Honestly couldn’t fault any of the service from the team and Jada made it that extra special for us! Thanks again Town and Gown

Lovely space for a drink with friends. I rarely drink nowadays and just had a tonic but it was beautiful. My friends had a gin and tonic and a Prosecco.

Atmosphere was super cool ...very clean and polite service...games included within....vibrant looking all round..quality looking food although I didn't eat wasn't hungry...5*****

Lunch on Saturday, waited over 1 hour for a burger, steak, linguine and schnitzel. Honestly could have made the food from raw ingredients faster! Unbelievable slow! The place is barely filled about 4 tables with food orders.

Absolutely appalling customer service and disappointing cocktails. Apparently the picture is an espresso martini. Would avoid at all costs.

Chicken Tikka and Brown Rice was lovely. Venue cultured & funky.

Top floor with balcony is a great little haunt for corp events with own bar. Venue in general is very well kept with a cooler attitude which is less common in the centre of the city. Go here if you want to actually talk to the people you are with in the later hours.

Great venue serving a diverse food menu and cocktails with 241 offers. Each toilet stall is named after a famous thespian with a short write up, urinals are not named though so my suggestion to the venue is to name each urinal after a Cambridge footlight

This pub is one of those hidden gems in town. Great food? It could be better. Great beer options? Again, it could be better. But if you have run out of options and just want a place to sit, drink and dine with a laid back feel and nice ambience, this is one of those places. P.S. They have a nice little "secret" terrace too.

We had a great time this past weekend at Town and Gown!

El 8 de mayo de 2024, cinco personas visitamos el campus de la Universidad de Cambridge en el centro de la ciudad. Came in for a few drinks with friends, A nice lad called Ryan served us 👍 we thought he was very approachable and seemed to know the place well and suggested a few drinks to try which we thought was kind of him, we will be back in soon to try the food

Honestly the perfect vibe for a night out in Cambridge. We had a lovely meal and some delightful doughnuts before catching the comedy show and it was just fabulous!

I can’t speak for the food as we only stopped for a drink, but this place has a really good vibe and I would definitely go back again and try the food as it looked great. Massive thanks to the guy who chased us down to return the sunglasses I had left on the table too. Hero!

What’s to say about a place like this.. after trawling reviews online for roasts to eat in Cambridge I came across this one and was hoping this would be the perfect end to a lovely romantic getaway with my boyfriend. We ordered and within 5mins of ordering our food arrived this was a surprise considering there were a fair few tables occupied. It all made sense to though when I bit into that first potato.. hard and stale, clearly this whole dish had been left out plated cold and put under heaters for hours before serving. The Yorkshire to give it credit was the only good thing , probably because they take 5min to cook so likely the only fresh thing on the plate. The stuffing was extremely dry and claggy , the cabbage tasted worse than the smell of the London Underground on a sticky summers day. The potatoes were clearly frozen aunt Bessie’s and were really dry. The booth of sorts we were sat in was extremely uncomfortable and had almost no space for your legs , this wasn’t appreciated. Overall for nearly £20 per person we were extremely disappointed. I’ve eaten a roast for half the price and double the flavour & at least some fresh items.

Large and spacious pub with many things to do. We had a blast playing shuffleboard till closing. Didn’t try the food but would come back!

Wouldn’t recommend ordering on the app, someone else on our table who ordered at the bar had their food come within 15 minutes, we had to wait about an hour and remind the bar staff (who were very lovely) twice before our food eventually came.

Visited here with friends in November. Lovely place with a genuinely fun atmosphere, staff were friendly and food was really enjoyable! We were hoping to stay for 3 courses (as we had travelled a long way to catch up with friends) but after our main a member of staff informed us that the next booking would be arriving in half an hour and they would need the table. So we went elsewhere for dessert. Not a problem, but it would have been nice to be given the option to book a longer slot in advance.

We travelled from London to have our Christmas party here & it was beautiful but the food was awful. Our food especially the turkey was so dry, none of us ate the food.

Went on a Friday night with a group of people. Seems setup as a very social venue (shuffleboard, plenty of drinks tables) but the music was so loud it was impossible to talk. We all left after a couple of drinks exhausted! However I'd like to go back for the theatre upstairs.

We attended for the Grease bottomless brunch. The staff were very attentive making sure our drinks were kept topped up. The food was lovely and there was plenty of it, including popcorn whilst watching the film. Some members of the group had never been to Town and Gown before but will definitely be returning!

hi, went here with my parents. We ordered two pina coladas and a cup of tea. We had ordered at 19:02 and it is currently 19:22 and we still haven’t received anything. I assume when it arrives tea will be cold. When we ordered at the bar the first time, there were line skippers and the staff didn’t care at all. The customer service was appalling tbh, not only is this bar busy, but the barman currently on is only interested in serving the younger and more attractive people than the elder people we’ve watched try to order, they were completely ignored.

Spectacular atmosphere with inspiring artists and good English beer.

Visited during the day on a Sunday and it was very quiet. Didn't eat but good selection of beer and the Rivertown Pilsner was spot on. I loved the way this place is designed mainly plus there's a free shuffleboard which is good fun and a good thing to get people chatting to each other. Probably my favourite pub in Cambridge during my weekend visit, taking in about 15 pubs.

Changed my review from 5 stars to 1. Service is horrendous now. No customer service skills whatsoever. Complained after our last visit and was told we should see an improvement. Back here and no different and empty on a Sunday. Food came and was stone cold. Gave the food back, had a refund and left. Such a waste of a nice venue.

OK, dark & a bit grubby, but alright for a central place to meet-up before moving on elsewhere.

Booked a table for 2045 specifically selected the food menu. Got there at 2042. To be told - the kitchen closed 30mins ago and that it would have been ok if I had arrived 30mins earlier. Unprofessional. Poor service. Not even apologetic. We left. And will never return. And if you’re reading this. Then maybe go somewhere else that actually is competent and values their customers.

The place seems beautiful! Drinks are quite good but I still haven't tried food there. By skimming through the menu though I can tell that it offers some interesting choices.

Town and Gown is a large, beautifully designed downtown pub in Cambridge. The spacious interior covers two levels (a second bar and the loos are on the upper level), and the décor is rather spectacular, certainly the most beautiful I've seen in the city centre. The outside seating area to the front is rather small by comparison. A limited cask selection is augmented by plenty of kegged beers. The loos are modern and clean. Prices aren't exactly low, but they aren't anywhere else in the area either. Really a place you have to visit in Cambridge when you're tired from visiting all those colleges.
