OMG……. This is not only immense, it is bloody delicious too! We came out for dinner here on a recommendation from a friend who told us ‘The Town & Gown do the most amazing roast’. She was not wrong. Freshly cooked veg (not boiled to death) and lashings of tasty gravy. This is hands down the best roast for miles around. Looking forward to coming back.

Hi my name is Eddie Zengeni. Part of the family band The Rising Blues. We performed at The Town and Gown on November 17th 2024. The professional and warm hospitality offered in particular by Danie who runs the theatre side of things was impeccable. Throughout the build up to the event she was totally transparent, professional and always available to help us with the smallest of details, requests and queries that we might have had. On the day of the concert, she was with us all day helping set up and resolve any unexpected obstacles. She made both myself and my family feel completely relaxed and at home during out first ever concert at the Town and Gown. Danie is a real asset to the company, full of positive energy and refreshing ideas and I'm really looking forward to collaborating with her again in the near future! I’ve always enjoyed this place on each visit over the years. But the last few visits have been some what disappointing. Breakfast ,empty restaurant yet takes 30 mins or so and the poached eggs were over cooked (not runny) when food takes so long I can’t be bothered to complain ,what’s the point it’s a simple dish that anyone can make.(but good service ) Another visit , to be told that a virgin cocktail ‘promotes drinking ‘ for an under 18 year old (even though it doesn’t ) yet I can get 2 cocktails for the price of 1 …promotes drinking in adults ? T&G Can’t I decide if my child can have a ginger beer and grenadine….willl this give her the urge to grab a bottle of booze and down it ….obviously not !!! Does having a glass of coke promote vodka and coke. Maybe rewrite the ‘company policy ‘ again no disrespect to the server ,but fu*k me….come on !!! order what I need to order and genuinely waited 20 minutes (maybe a few more ) for 2 cocktails This is all basic stuff ,it’s not difficult and I speak with many years of experience. It’s sad ! So that’s my honest review. Thanks

Great venue! We went with quite a big group for a birthday meal and had such a great time. The atmosphere was so much fun and our server, Jada, was lovely and made sure we were very well looked after! We had the festive Christmas menu and every dish was delicious, and there was a good range of drinks & cocktails too. I would definitely recommend a visit 😊

Decided to go twice last night on a pub crawl. I am a bit old for the atmosphere. But still enjoyed it and could see everyone did. Didn’t eat a main meal just some finger food and it was a little tasteless and somewhat overpriced for what you get.

Great atmosphere and good music. Drinks reasonably priced and friendly staff.

Pub with Privacy I often overlook this pub, as it's located on a side road, the back of TK Maxx. The food was quite expensive compared to Eagle, Bath House and Baron of Beef. The Sunday roast tasted nice, with crispy Yorkshire pudding. The potatoes were a bit too crispy, overcooked? Not sure about the burger. The portion was small in terms of its price. The burger was not hot enough. The beef patty was a bit dry. I was not full after the burger meal. But the environment is genuinely nice, very clean and open. Every table has a big distance. The toilets are not small. I think it's a lovely environment.

We happened upon this lovely pub/venue whilst searching for somewhere to eat with a menu to suit three of us with different tastes in food and drinks. This lovely place ticked all the boxes! The staff made us feel instantly welcome, the food and drinks menu was great. We had a delicious meal, the real ale and wine were also spot on. Thanks go to Jada and Ryan for their warmth and friendliness and impeccable service and the chefs behind the scenes for a lovely dining experience- we’ll head straight there next time we’re visiting Cambridge 😊

Went to the bottomless brunch yesterday and had the best time... Annie (who was OK every time we asked and never once got annoyed with us finding it hilarious every single time 😂) and Eden could not have looked after us better. Late night stop for a drink on the way back to accommodation. Fantastic, friendy service, and relaxed intimate environment (barticuary the booths). Great central location.

Ordered a bunch or roasts! There was some confusion over what food was ordered. The mistakes were taken on and we were sorted out nicely by the staff. Jada and Annie where very understanding and patient. Food was great. Service perfect. Very happy

The food was ok. Everything was overcooked. The portions are small so we remained hungry. The service was fine, very friendly staff.

After spending a few hours of shopping and touring Cambridge, we happened upon Town and Gown. The atmosphere is pretty laid back, so it was a great spot to relax. There are three floors, but the barrel booths on the first floor were the absolute cutest! You can choose where to sit. Once you've figured out what you want, you walk up to the bar and order. The food was pretty good, but my virgin pornstar martini was delicious!!! It is tucked away in an alley, so keep a sharp eye out for it.

Me alegra que encontráramos este lugar y nos aventuráramos. Desde fuera es difícil ver que es un restaurante y pub pero lo es y tiene un montón de asientos. En cualquier otro lugar que pasamos por Cambridge fue embestido, pero había muchos asientos aquí. Nos costó decidir qué elegir del menú y todo lo que vimos salir de la cocina se veía muy bien. Al final lloraron por el pollo asado y estaban muy contentos. Patatas perfectamente asadas, 1/2 pollo y verduras. Creo que eran unas 19 libras, que era un precio muy bueno. Fue encantador ver familias con niños jugando juegos de bar, los perros son bienvenidos y el personal era amable, se tomó el tiempo para charlar y conocer sus productos. Los IPA eran geniales y también tenía una pinta encantadora de suave (AK Mild de 1840) que no se ve a menudo hoy en día. Si vuelvo a Cambridge, sin duda volveré aquí. Olvídate de las cafeterías y restaurantes de cadena.

Came in for a late Sunday lunch and was really impressed. As we walked around the family tried to sway us to go to one of the chains, but so glad we came here. Servers were so friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and able to accommodate our requests with little ones. Worth a visit for sure.

We went to the restaurant and the attention was really bad, the lady that worked there was extremely rude and the cocktails we asked for were bad with few beverage and expensive

I booked the Town and Gown for my friends Hen Party and what a night we had! I enquired to the Assistant Manager Jada over email, asking what she could offer us and she gave me brilliant customer service from the start! She helped me plan my friend’s Hen and made it really special. There were decorated bottles of Prosecco in ice buckets on the tables and the Bride had a dessert brought out to her that had “Congrats” written in chocolate on the plate. The food and drinks were amazing and we had a brilliant view for the live singer! Honestly couldn’t fault any of the service from the team and Jada made it that extra special for us! Thanks again Town and Gown

Lovely space for a drink with friends. I rarely drink nowadays and just had a tonic but it was beautiful. My friends had a gin and tonic and a Prosecco.

Atmosphere was super cool ...very clean and polite service...games included within....vibrant looking all round..quality looking food although I didn't eat wasn't hungry...5*****

Lunch on Saturday, waited over 1 hour for a burger, steak, linguine and schnitzel. Honestly could have made the food from raw ingredients faster! Unbelievable slow! The place is barely filled about 4 tables with food orders.

Absolutely appalling customer service and disappointing cocktails. Apparently the picture is an espresso martini. Would avoid at all costs.

Chicken Tikka and Brown Rice was lovely. Venue cultured & funky.

Top floor with balcony is a great little haunt for corp events with own bar. Venue in general is very well kept with a cooler attitude which is less common in the centre of the city. Go here if you want to actually talk to the people you are with in the later hours.

This pub is one of those hidden gems in town. Great food? It could be better. Great beer options? Again, it could be better. But if you have run out of options and just want a place to sit, drink and dine with a laid back feel and nice ambience, this is one of those places. P.S. They have a nice little "secret" terrace too.

Great venue serving a diverse food menu and cocktails with 241 offers. Each toilet stall is named after a famous thespian with a short write up, urinals are not named though so my suggestion to the venue is to name each urinal after a Cambridge footlight

El 8 de mayo de 2024, cinco personas visitamos el campus de la Universidad de Cambridge en el centro de la ciudad. Porque nosotros (buscar en el sitio web, este restaurante tiene una valoración de 4, 5 de 5), fuimos a este restaurante a almorzar. En primer lugar, nos sorprendió que un restaurante tan grande (de tres pisos y balcón, por lo tanto con más de cien asientos) tuviera sólo menos de 10 personas. El precio de la comida es ridículo. Por ejemplo, pido un plato de pasta por 13€. 6 . En este plato, sólo menos de 100 g de pasta húmeda con unas cuantas judías verdes y frutos secos, nada de otro alimento.

Ordered the steak frites and burger, best part was the fries. Both lacked basic seasoning and burger dried out the mouth completely form a dry patty and a "brioche" bun. Below average average burger

What’s to say about a place like this.. after trawling reviews online for roasts to eat in Cambridge I came across this one and was hoping this would be the perfect end to a lovely romantic getaway with my boyfriend. We ordered and within 5mins of ordering our food arrived this was a surprise considering there were a fair few tables occupied. It all made sense to though when I bit into that first potato.. hard and stale, clearly this whole dish had been left out plated cold and put under heaters for hours before serving. The Yorkshire to give it credit was the only good thing , probably because they take 5min to cook so likely the only fresh thing on the plate. The stuffing was extremely dry and claggy , the cabbage tasted worse than the smell of the London Underground on a sticky summers day. The potatoes were clearly frozen aunt Bessie’s and were really dry. The booth of sorts we were sat in was extremely uncomfortable and had almost no space for your legs , this wasn’t appreciated. Overall for nearly £20 per person we were extremely disappointed. I’ve eaten a roast for half the price and double the flavour & at least some fresh items.

Amazing atmosphere, nice drinks and great staff, make sure to give them a smile and crack a joke if they don't look too busy.

Wouldn’t recommend ordering on the app, someone else on our table who ordered at the bar had their food come within 15 minutes, we had to wait about an hour and remind the bar staff (who were very lovely) twice before our food eventually came.

Visited here with friends in November. Lovely place with a genuinely fun atmosphere, staff were friendly and food was really enjoyable! We were hoping to stay for 3 courses (as we had travelled a long way to catch up with friends) but after our main a member of staff informed us that the next booking would be arriving in half an hour and they would need the table. So we went elsewhere for dessert. Not a problem, but it would have been nice to be given the option to book a longer slot in advance.
