Great venue really enjoyed green haze

Great place for local bands and singers. Excellent price for tickets to these gigs. Went to see @jamieblack such a talented singer.

Me and my husband saw the devout play there.They are a Depeche Mode tribute and and were absolutely fantastic.

Had a nice beer. Went to a gig in the back. Pizzas smelt nice but didn’t have one. Really nice independent music bar.

Went to see a gig for acts competing to get to the strawberry festival. It was okay!

What a night!! My band "Lounge Lizards" performed in the Cambridge Band Competition, and the Portland Arms music venue was fantastic! The stage was awesome, and the sound quality was unmatched. Tom was a great sound engineer and ensured we sounded great all night. Really looking forward to coming back for another gig!! 😎🦎🦎

An old pub with a great venue, the pizzas are a little pricey, and the the barraters are just a mozzarella ball

A great place for you and your friends to get together

This was my first visit for a gig at Portland Arms. I'm not sure how that's happened but I'll be back. Fabulous venue. On a warm August evening, with an energetic band, it was very hot and sweaty. I'll be back..... parking is a nightmare though! I've now been back a few more times and, after dark, on a weekday, parking is not too bad at all... and this is Cambridge! Can't wait for the next time.

Characteristic pub a few minutes from Jesus Green. Beautiful 1930s interior with a gig room at the back. Friendly staff and always a few guest ales. Always some good rock music on the stereo system. Some interesting music memorabilia, and a few vintage arcade games to play. One of Cambridge's friendlier pubs.

Brilliant pub, went here for New Year's eve, the live band was awesome, the cheese table was a perfect fit for the evening, it was delicious. The atmosphere was awesome. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing gig venue for intimate gigs, just astounding sound - every gig has been a delight, and John Bramwell's last week was just out of this world. Thank you for one of the best experiences.

Superb little music venue, we arrived early with a pre-booked table to grab a bite to eat and c couple of drinks before the gig. Lovely cosy atmosphere on a freezing cold nigh, just what we needed. Wonderful friendly staff who could not have been more helpful. Not a huge menu but more than enough for us. Had a great evening, cannot fault it and cannot wait to go back. top marks.

Love this venue, seen a load of great bands here over the years. It's small, the stage is about a foot high and there's no barrier, so get there early for the best view - either at the front or failing that on the step about half way back.

Good pub for drinks and live music events are great

Portland Arms has hosted quite important artists like shonen knife, lemondaze and many more where I have almost lost my emotional sanity due to the best musical experience. Good acoustics, nearby bar, what else do you need to let go off of normal you?

Went to watch a gig here on Sunday night : great selection of beers, good food and the sound engineer was top notch : all the bands sounded the best I've ever heard them!

Nice little pub, great selection of beers, cant go wrong. Live band where on when we where there which seemed good, and its all clean and tidy. Good for having a few drinks of an evening

I came here on a Saturday to attend some comedy as part of the sound and vision festival. I didn’t order anything but the pub looked lovely. The toilets were clean although a little small! Their venue space is great and pretty spacious.

Cool venue but guy behind the bar (think it was the manager) was very rude

Visited with family members as I have been to the portlands a number of times and as always a fantastic night , staff are more than friendly and helpful , food is delicious , good choice of drinks , a great venue , beer garden - perfect ! If it was closer to the train station that would be a bonus but that’s no fault of the portlands ! Thanks for a great night !

A regular lunch spot for me, often quite cold but has good food and service. Live music is fantastic Drinks: 6/10 Atmosphere: 8/10 Prices: 7/10

Great music venue but expensive soft drinks. £4 for a pint of soda squirted lemonade, (i.e. not even the good stuff out of a bottle). Completely disinterested bar lad with filthy hair and clothes. Not a very good experience.

Went for a gig, impressed with the beer range, the food looked delicious, staff were great. Disappointed no actual women’s’ toilets - just mens’ and ‘gender neutral’ (which essentially means unisex). ie there’s 2 places where men can choose to pee but one one for women, and they might be sharing with men, which isn’t always ok, given incidences of asssult, spiking and harassment. Why would pubs/clubs promote the “ask for Annie” scheme and at the same time think it’s ok to have unisex toilets? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Excellent venue to see a band. Tried the Plectrum beer. Wasn’t that impressed with it until I had the nacho cheese tortillas with chilli. Then it took on a taste of its own. I’d have had a couple more had I not been driving. The only downside is if you’re coming to see a band, from afar,you need to find somewhere else to park. But that’s not a problem really as there is plenty of on street parking. The Boathouse pub is a recommendation for parking, but don’t. You’ll not find a place. The staff were excellent and friendly. I’m not a burger fan, but they did look really nice. Ordering food from the table was an excellent idea. Simple to do once you’d loaded the menu. All in all, a very good evening out and will be looking forward to seeing some more live music there again in the future.

Fantastic venue to see a tribute band! Wrong Jovi were absolutely brilliant and the venue was perfect - it even has steps for those a little shorter!

Amazing venue for intimate gigs

Really nice bar and music venue. However, the bar staff were rude, arrogant and so full of themselves and treated customers with disdain. May I suggest they source some customer care training to improve their skills !!!

Not what I was expecting from the outside. Friendly, nice interior and beer garden, good choice of beers, love the cocktails on tap! Didn't eat but the plates of food going past looked delicious.

We attended the Portland for an event at The Venue, from the minute you walk through the door you feel welcome. It’s a quirky place with a fantastic atmosphere. Great staff good food and a really good vibe. This was our first visit but it definitely won’t be our last .

Called in for a quick drink, the venue was not very busy. Unfortunately I ordered a cocktail which I didn't enjoy as it was too sweet. Nice music venue though.

We just happened to stumble across this pub when walking back to our hotel from work. We ended up having a fantastic experience all round. We were invited to go in and watch a gig in the big stage area around the back in which we found a new favourite artist of ours, there was a fantastic range of drinks and we everybody there was super friendly. Couldn't have had a better night by accident
