A proper pub with great service, great beer and great people. The Bass is to die for!

Two stars for food as they have some (rolls). I go there specifically for the Bass, but always a nice friendly atmosphere.

A corner pub close to the Garrison Church that does a good pint of Bass.

Had my first Pusser's rum here. It's a traditional pub, pretty decent. They need to sort out the women's WC though because it's easy to get trapped in there with the weird lock.

Great little traditional old pub

Stumbled over this pub. Ambience and friendliness of the barman and the locals immense. Immediately felt relaxed and "@ home".

My favourite tradition Portsmouth pub. In my eyes just what a local should be. A good cellar with Bass on tap.

You basic tradition British Pub. Perfect for a drink and a meal. I stumbled upon but would certainly go back.

Visited last weekend, very friendly pub. The staff Paige and Matthew were lovely and friendly. Enjoyed it so much on Friday we were back there on Saturday.

One of the few proper boozers left in the city and it's a great little place, the bar staff are really friendly and welcoming, a good atmosphere and only a 2 minute walk to the sea.

Popped in for a drink. Friendly local in a great position. Will visit again soon!

Many thanks yesterday afternoon to the young man behind the bar with a shot Mohican style haircut with shaved sides. Great reception and lovely pint or 3 of Abbots ale and pink gin and tonics for Anth on her birthday. Sorry we couldn’t get back today. Forgot we were going home. Good drinking pub nice landlord nice locals don't need anything more

This is a traditional pub of which few remain. Good beer of good quality and a clean welcoming interior. The landlord is a smashing bloke and adds to the atmosphere. I used to drink here after work 25 years ago and it has stayed a quality institution. We spent a very pleasant lunch time here. A great return visit.

Proper pub, no Sky sports, locals who talk to you, real ale on tap ( Bass, London Pride, Abbot) , nicely kept. Superb bar snacks, piano in tune, seats worn over the years, pub bric-a-brac and near to historic cathedral, seafront and old Portsmouth. Piped music is gentle inviting chatter, for me at least it's a proper pub. Worth seaking out if you like traditional. These are the pubs we are losing hand over fist. Use them or lose them.
