Sopranos in Portsmouth

Back in the area again and we couldn't wait to return here with our daughter (she's not 5 until November). It's just so refreshing to experience a genuine family run enterprise such as this and everyone is so passionate about what they do here. Friendly service, excellent dishes offers at astonishingly reasonable prices, there is a lot to like here!

Lovely food and wines at good prices. The specials are changed regularly and their fish dishes are delicious. The pizza toppings are very flavoursome, but the base I had was not stone-baked. I guess they don't have a pizza oven. The staff are super friendly and accommodating.

Just had lunch here for my birthday. This was our first visit to Sopranos Southsea and can i just say what an amazing experience. Service was excellent, food was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. Food is cooked to order an was amazing. Thank you Sopranos for an amazing all round experience.

Not been here before but will definitely be back . It's so nice to go to a restaurant and get served a. Decent amount of food for your money ( no rush to McDonald's after here ) good was extremely tasty . I had the penne diavilo and sardines starter and both were great portions. My step father really enjoyed his carbonara and my wife and brother raved about how good theirs food was. . We came Saturday night and service was really good . Our young waitress was efficient and friendly and did a great job . Definitely recommend here and will be back with more friends soon. Thanks all

Great food plenty of it as well and variety for different tastes and foods, freshly prepared and so tasty, laid back but prompt service friendly staff and a relaxed ambience.

Amazing restaurant with excellent food and service. We live in Brighton and visit Southsea at least twice a year, Sopranos is our go to restaurant on one of the nights we are here. The service is impeccable and the food is always excellent. Whenever we come here we are always treated as if we are the only customers. The staff are always attentive, though not overly so,. We definitely recommend Sopranos and are happy to give a five star rating.

Incredible food and wonderful atmosphere on a very lively street with many independent bars and restaurants. Definitely worth going to for dinner and some drinks.

One of the very best restraunts around. Been coming for 20 years, and the quality is always fantastic, without exception. The staff are friendly and helpful, its a great evening all round. Definitely try to book in advance if you can, as its usually fully booked pretty much any night of the week. If you haven't been yet, go now, you don't know what you're missing!

Best Italian food I’ve had in Portsmouth, the avocado was very fresh and the salmon pasta was incredible. Lovely atmosphere, was busy on a Wednesday night. Very reasonably priced for the quality of the food. Would definitely go again

Yet again, can not fault this place, for great food, served by amazing staff. Offers a wide choice of food and drinks in a relaxed comfortable venue. Brilliant place deserves 10 out of 5.

The best restaurant, in my opinion, of freshly cooked food anywhere. I'm not the only one who thinks so as it's difficult to get a table. Sandy the owner, son Tommy and her team make it a very enjoyable experience for lunch or dinner. Compliments to the chefs for the tasty hot food. The quality is always high and service top-notch.

I love this little restaurant. The service is really good and there are always plenty of choices for vegetarians. They didn't have vegetarian parmesan, though. My pasta dish was amazing!

Excellent quality food choices at decent prices Fillet steak was superb! For those with smaller appetites avoid the wonderful starters as we struggled on the main meal! Not the fillet steak though!! Wonderful friendly service and a restaurant to go back to again and again! Highly recommended

Really lovely restaurant and great service. The food is very high quality and the range of dishes is great - the best Lasagna we have had so far.

Lovely food with a wide range on the menu. Plus the specials board each day. Cooked beautifully and all food was hot. And to finish off Lovely desserts. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant but booking recommend. Served by very friendly and helpful staff with Sarah taking a lead and ensuring everything was good.

We often use this restaurant for family birthdays, and this wssthecase again; always good service and good food & drink, all four of us very satisfied with the evening.

Service was poor and food was average - disappointing

This is one of my favourite places to eat in Southsea. We've never had a bad meal. The food is wonderful and so are the staff. Prices are great too. Would recommend booking, it gets booked up quickly. A very well run restaurant.

Excellent food and friendly staff

This restaurant is fantastic. The staff are great and the food delicious. I had the seafood risotto and it was one of the best ones I've had in years. The price is also very reasonable. I had the risotto, some Sorbet and two drinks and the price was under £25.

Went there with friends and had a lovely pizza, the food and service was excellent.

What a brilliant little restaurant. The food quality is amazing, the service was brilliant. You get a family feel in this restaurant so not sure if it's family run - but it seemed that way at least. We eat out regularly and what a surprise, this place is possibly one of the best restaurants in Portsmouth, if not the BEST Italian. We ordered the below, cooked to perfection: Warm sourdough & ciabatta bread Fresh Steamed Mussels with wedges of baked ciabatta Filetto con Salsa al Pepe chargrilled 8oz fillet steak with a cracked black pepper, brandy, mushroom & cream sauce, roasted cherry tomatoes & tenderstem broccoli, served with choice of sautéed potatoes or chips Penne con Pollo e Parma chicken, parma ham & mushrooms in a creamy spring onion & parmesan sauce A couple lemonchellos and Aspall ciders Will be a regular for us

I love Sopranos. Went there a lot when I lived in Southsea. Now I try and eat there when I visit. All food is lovely and they make the best Affogato ever. Friendly service. Worth booking as it's always busy.

Nice food friendly and helpful staff and a pleasant atmosphere the Saturday I visited it was full of people enjoying the food and general ambience of the restaurant, The staff were having to unfortunately turn a few people away which shows how popular Sopranos is, well worth visiting if you are in the area.

Having had a terrible bottomless brunch @ somewhere that shall remain nameless! (Not Bonitas) we were absolutely starving and just wanted some nice food. Sopranos didn’t disappoint- cute and cosy, lovely friendly service, food was served hot and in good time! We didn’t feel rushed and left a nice tip to show our gratitude. Thank you for ending our girls day out in a positive way.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before now. I've been coming here for years. So glad they survived the bs lockdowns! The food's very good - lovely pizzas, pasta dishes, steaks and salads - and the friendly staff mean there's usually a good atmosphere (although the flipside of that is that booking is advisable because, understandably, they're very popular!).

The food was fresh and cooked to perfection.

Excellent food as always. Unfortunately our last visit was during an England world cup game so the atmosphere was a bit distracted and distracting but normally it's very good and well done to the staff for accommodating all their customers needs.

Cosy place to dine with good food to eat

Me and my girlfriend went out for dinner on a Saturday night. It was very busy which is always a good sign bur the atmosphere was great. The service was faultless. The food came out quick and was delicious. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The portions were great! We had a bottle of wine and food and the bill was only £60. Had a lovely evening. Thank you and we will see you again soon.

Tea tasted funny (I like standard tea), friends coffee wasn't great. Nice place and outside seating tho.

Good, friendly service. Tasty food, decent wine. Excellent staple of the Southsea restaurant scene. The puttanesca, always a solid yardstick of Italian food was pretty good. Not quite as pungent as you can get - but safely tasty nonetheless.

Fantastic Little Italian. My family eat here literally every week sometimes more. The food is consistently good, we love the Mussles with white wine or chilli, Steak with mushroom sauce, Chicken salad with parma ham and Lasagna are our favourite regular dishes. The Rose wine is also one of nicest I’ve tried and the larger for my dad is apparently fab and he is fussy. All in all I’ve never had a bad meal here and I think the food is really healthy in the way they cook compared to all other restaurants.We really enjoy !!!!

Love this place! Went again on Saturday night (make sure you book as it’s very popular and gets busy!). Had the veggie mezze which was excellent followed by some very tasty pizzas. Didn’t have time for dessert but the tiramisu and affogato looked amazing and will definitely be having one of them when we return. Super friendly staff too. Favorite place in southsea!
