So jealous of the good people of Nottingham having this on their doorstep. Great jazz music, fabulous relaxed setting, and most importantly really lovely home cooked Italian food….and great cocktails ….like a proper London hotel bar . Completely another level to your standard Italian high street offering. Always a good sign when there is a short menu. Please go.

We came to the Pelican Club for food on a Tuesday night for our anniversary and we were absolutely blown away. We ordered the aubergine parmigiana starter to share and I very much regretted agreeing to part with half of it because it was one of the best starters I’ve ever had! The sauce was so deeply rich and flavourful. My boyfriend eats a lot of meat and never would’ve ordered this normally but agreed it was 10/10. The mains were generous sizes and equally as tasty. For dessert, we had the Tiramisu - easily the best one I’ve tried. So gorgeous and well balanced. The wine was also beautiful and the live band created an amazing atmosphere. The Pelican Club is such a gem and really makes me proud to live in Nottingham where places like this exist. I’d recommend this place to anyone and I can’t wait to come back!

Such a cute cozy space. I'd say to come here more for the cozy jazz vibes and atmosphere rather than the food. The food menu is limited and not all that enticing, better Italian food is available elsewhere. But I do love the atmosphere of this place. Would recommend just coming for drinks and jazz rather than for the food.

Poor all round... The rib eye should have been medium rare and it was blue and not even seared! My partner couldn't eat it at all. The potatoes it came with were just bland and literally tasteless and the place itself was uncomfortably hot. Disappointing on the live jazz scene too. Probably the worst experience at a restaurant ever.

The look of the food was fantastic but the taste was as bland as if I am a sick person who is eating at a hospital. I was so excited for Jazz but it was only noise of the band that one could hear. Shame!!! we went all the way to Nottingham for an awful experience. Never again

Love this place. It's a hidden gen for jazz lovers. We had dinner as well which was very good; the mutton chops were succulent and well seasoned, and the portions were plentiful. Will return again and again.

James was a perfect host. Music was a little loud. Food was absolutely brilliant.

if you come here just for the food it’s a bad idea (dodgy starter). interesting range of pieces though, and the drummer was insane.

An excellent, inclusive atmosphere with recently priced drinks. The staff are attentive and kind, with a good reception in a table seated environment. The sound of the bands isn't too loud and allows conversation at your tables.

An excellent venue that combines really good Italian food and live jazz. Staff were all unfailingly helpful and enthusiastic. We shall certainly return!

Really buzzy, busy restaurant in the centre of Nottingham with live music sets throughout the evening. There were six of us. All said the food was good but my lamb was slightly over salted. Service was really relaxed and friendly. Would go again.

Happy after my visit to The Pelican Club. The atmosphere and service was great, with a lovely range of drinks. The staff were helpful and the live music was a lovely touch. The meals were rather pricey for the size, and the menu was rather limited, but the quality of the food was fantastic.

Great food, great staff and excellent cocktails

Me and my wife had a great time going for dinner on a Friday night. Staff were very attentive and constantly asking if we needed anything and refilled the water bottle every time it was empty without asking. Food was great and top it off the entertainment of the jazz band playing really made the evening special. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a special evening.

Myself and two friends went here for the 1st time on Saturday 9th March. The whole experience exceeded any expectations I might have had. The staff were warm and inviting, the menu was small enough for you to know they weren't stretching themselves whilst still giving you enough options. The food itself was layered with flavours. The music was loud enough that you could hear it properly if you wanted to, but not so loud that you couldn't have an easy conversation whilst eating. It might not be the cheapest establishment in Nottingham, but at no point did I feel as if I was being ripped off. Would I go back? Absolutely! Will I go back? Absolutely!!

Great cocktails and music on Friday

Valentine Meal yesterday (14 February 2024) with a pre selection valentine menu and lovely acoustic singer and a guitar player. Food was stunning and beautifully presented as were the cocktails. No waiting time and no pressure to finish and go. The Pelican always has a lovely ambiance and is fun. Last night had the perfect romantic feel to it. Am always very happy to recommend the Pelican and Dan and Harry. Last night was even better than usual - can't wait for my next visit.

First visit for my friend and I. Ambiance just right, food delicious, staff friendly and helpful. To top it all it was ‘Ruby Tuesday’ jazz night. Super talented musicians coupled with great singers. Perfect eve had by all. Definitely recommend 👍

Our favourite place to eat drink and experience live jazz. We held our Xmas gathering here on the 8th, we were a group of eleven with very mixed food tastes but everyone thought the food, drinks, service and atmosphere were superb. Well done guys!

Great restaurant with fantastic menu & live Jazz. Service great, food was sublime. My only criticism is the cocktails didn’t feel very boozy. Even by stingy British standards.

Perfect ambience, perfect venue, perfect music. But oh dear. The food? Shocking. Miniscule portions,all too salty. Prices would be reasonable if the food and portions were of a reason standard. Had the prawns ,which were destroyed,pasta with swordfish for main.Again, overcooked and dry,.pasta undercooked. Can cook way better myself. Drinks were way too expensive . Would of stayed all night if I wasn't paying £6 for half a pint. Shame. Won't return.

I have been to this resturant many times and it is fantastic The food is always excellent and they do great gluten free options and also have a separate vegetarian menu On Friday and Saturday they have live jazz music and a really nice vibe

1st time starters King pawn 😳 no only 4 in a mash I think taste nice but very small and not King … Main had slow cooked meat pasta 😳 Meat well dots of meat in pasta again Small bowl…. Dessert I had a lemon cheesecake cocktail. Which was very nice and different. Loud music bellowing out which made Conversation difficult . So a celebration meal was toned down . It was nice to experiencing something different , but I’ve done that now . All in all the food taste nice but very small so if hungry fill up before you go.

pelican club has a lovely atmosphere and the bad we’re strumming away in the corner. The service was very attentive, but we found the pasta dishes a bit oily for our liking. But otherwise a great night out and will return.

Great food, excellent service & atmosphere. It's a lively place, so be prepared for this. Food is delicious and wines are well selected at reasonable prices. Jazz sessions are great and it's a warm, cosy, cossetting sort of place. Highly recommended.

We really love the atmosphere here, always receiving a warm welcome. The music was brilliant, the food and cocktails spot-on and the staff so friendly and efficient. Nothing here to dislike.

Jazz and cocktail,; what could go wrong?

This is a great restaurant, with brilliant cocktails and a gloriously decadent atmosphere.

Love everything about this place. Great cocktails, delicious food and the live jazz is always a treat. I really like the decor as well, you feel as though you've been transported when you walk through the door.

Went here for dinner on a Thursday night, was quiet but the music made up for it as the atmosphere and decor was lovely. Service was fast and our waiter was friendly and helpful, tentative but not overbearing. The food was very tasty and had an authentic feel to it. We shared an antipasti and a pasta course and had a secondi each which was more than enough as we had to take the rest of our mains home. Bang on, will be back for some live jazz I'm sure!

The atmosphere is very nice, with a lot going on with the bar and live music, but the food was a real let down. I had a monkfish starter which was bland an I believe they forgot the garnish for the dish. Main was a pork pasta dish which was nice, but again just average and the cost of two courses for two people with one drink each was £70, which I feel was overpriced for the quality of the food. Really let down, as I had seen people recommend this place online, and booked as a nice dinner for myself and partner after a long two weeks of work.

Everything was great (staff serving us were friendly, starter and wine were lovely) until our mains arrived. I had the pork belly and it was so over cooked that in places it was completely burnt. After speaking to our waiter about this someone came over to tell me they’d looked at it and it wasn’t that bad which I found really insulting, it was a special occasion and I wouldn’t send back my food for no good reason. I was offered an alternative pasta dish but at this point we just wanted to leave to enjoy our evening elsewhere. I would avoid this place if planning on eating.

Really lovely venue, friendly and accommodating staff. The decor and atmosphere of the place is great too. Really liked the cocktails and they have a very impressive drinks menu. Food wise, there's was nothing bad about it, however, there was nothing notable about it either. It was perhaps a bit below the standard you'd expect for the higher price. e.g., pasta dish lacking seasoning, not al dente, focaccia was a bit dry/chewey. But again we still had an enjoyable meal, but wouldn't come back just for the food. The actual menu sounded delicious and very Italian, I just think it could be executed better. It's such a nice venue otherwise, refining the food would make it a top choice for Nottingham. I'm more than willing to pay £15 to £20 for a pasta dish, but it has to be really delicious at that price.

We met some friends on the recommendation of our Italian neighbours. Great recommendation. The service was excellent. The food was outstanding and the music. Great jazz joint as well.

So good to know the Pelican Club survived the lockdowns. Discovered this wonderful place in 2018 with one of my sons. It's now a family favourite - worth travelling from Sussex for !!

What a little gem! Great location, fantastic staff and amazing food. If you like jazz while you eat, this is the place to go. Gets very busy at the weekends, so it's always safer to pre book. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back

Second visit to this place and have been impressed both times. Great food, good wine selection and well made cocktails. The ambience of the restaurant is excellent with a good mix of couples and small groups. The menu is Italian and is very authentic, if your idea of an Italian meal is a pizza as rhick as a cushion with a pile of cheddar on top then probably best to avoid this restaurant.

Went here for Ruby Tuesday's a jazz night and man what a night. Its a shame I was driving as they had a real extensive cocktail list, with great alternatives to tradional classics.

Portions on small side but apart from that it is a great place to dine and socialise

Saturday night and the place was buzzing. Food good and service to match. Unfortunately, Richard is not pernod, the bar staff should know that. Live jazz for background music made for a very pleasant night out. If you want conversation, go another night.

A very warm relaxing place with great jazz music playing in the background...Had a rib eye steak which was delicious 😋 which was served up with friendly and welcoming staff...the only small minus tho the meal and 2 glasses of red wine was a bit on the pricey side!!!

THE best cocktails in Nottingham (sorry Tilt!)

We have been coming here every since they opened (8 years? 9 years?) and it still holds a special place in our hearts. Always the most attentive and friendly service, delicious meats, pastas and steaks to die for, and the tiramisu never misses. We love the Pelican red and their cocktails are the best in town, either their own (try the lemon cheesecake!) or the classics (the best manhattans!). Great for a post work cocktail or try late on a Saturday when they have a band on, the place is always buzzing. Well done to these guys for consistently providing a brilliant location that Nottingham deserves!

The food was outstanding and the jazz music amazing.

Many restaurants paid a toll to covid and more recently to the inflation, the pelican club is one of these. Prices went a bit up. They increased the number of tables to have a bigger volume of costumers so it gets very crowded and you seat very much near your neighbours. At the bar you can have a drink without a table and it creates even more packed atmosphere. At a time, I am not sure the number of people inside a venue like this, exceed the authorised limit. Food is good but it depends on personal standards.

Cocktails are the best in Nottingham. Very knowledgable waiting staff that can’t do enough for you. The music is lovely and the outdoor seating very atmospheric. Well worth a visit and worth the price.

Staff did as much as possible to make a birthday special, they were all wonderful. Can't thank them enough. Food was lovely, all cleaned our plates . The only tiny tiny comment is that I'd say the music was a tad too loud for diners in a smallish space, the act they had on was brilliant, we enjoyed the music a lot and of course you go to a place like the Pelican for the music as much as anything else...but we still came out with sore throats from shouting across the table at each other all evening which was a little much when the act was in spitting distance anyway.
