I visited La Salute for my birthday meal in January 2015. The food was great. The atmosphere was lovely. The only fault I could find was that when ordering dessert, I also ordered another drink, which was forgotten. However, this was not a major issue and didn't spoil the night.Overall, excellent experience and great value for money.Would recommend!

Having decided not to brave the terrible traffic jam home to Wollaton with our three year old, we decided to eat out and then hopefully the traffic would have calmed down by the time we finished. One point I would like to make to all restaurant owners in Nottingham is that you really need to start opening earlier and advertising this as it is really difficult to find restaurants that are open when you leave work around 5- 6pm. We noticed La Salute was open so thought we would try it. We were the only customers whilst we were there, staff were eating when we entered (not very professional) and whilst we were eating. Waitress was very pleasant and attentative, music too loud. Ordedred x 2 types of the penne dishes and x 1 pizza. My daughter didn't touch hers (it was tasteless and didn't look appetising) mine wasn't much better and have made tastier italian pasta at home myself. Was definately not fresh ingrediants, possible out of jars. Artichokes and sundried tomatoes in my dish, were poor quality jar stuff. Husbands pizza was ok. Sorry wouldn't visit again.

Great place. Has an odd décor it must be said, obviously home grown by someone who just ain't got it quite right. But, you are here to eat. The young Italian girl server was obviously new to the UK, was very hard working - they got their money's worth out of her. She was a very pleasant person. I had pizza, which was authentic and excellent. Great service and attentiveness. You could argue it's slightly out of the centre, but the quality is there. Highly recommended. Beats the chains on value every time. Give it a go.

Been to La Salute 3 times now and the food has been cinsistently good each time. The owners are from Napoli in Italy and the cuisine reflects this. Having been there with a friend who ia from Naples, i can vouch for the authenticity of the pizzas.I normally have the Crespolini, love them! Only downer is the place seems too big and is never busy so lacks atmosphere which is a shame.

Me and my husband came back to la salute after having had an excellent experience a month ago. The first time we came we tried the garlic mozzerella bread to start and a calzone and margherita for the main. The food was extremely tasty, there was a nice atmosphere and the service was outstanding. The waitress even played our favourite songs! Unfortuantly, the second time was disappointing, the lighting was too bright and I think this spoilt the atmosphere, we tried the calamari which was chewy and flavourless and the cannelloni was burnt and dry. We are really disappointed as we thought this was an excellent independant chain. What doesn't help is that chefs were smoking outside and the waitor was careless having to call them in from to take orders.. unfortuantly we wont be making another visit.

I reviewed this restaurant a few months ago and we had a nice meal. Returned recently and had the most appalling visit. We ordered squid to start and olives to share, the olives were pre pitted out of a jar and were tasteless, the squid was so chewy it was like chewing elastic bands, we couldn't eat them. At almost £7 a portion it was shocking. Mains were lasagne and cannelloni, and I have to say my lasagne was as lovely as the first time we went, but my partners cannelloni was not cooked and dry, there was NO Sauce at all, just melted cheese on top, and the pasta was so thick it was raw and inedible. They didn't have the dough bread stick served with them as were on the previous visit, when I mentioned this to the waiter, he shrugged and said it depends what mood the chef is in as to whether you get them or not!We ordered a garlic bread with the mains which was forgotten about and arrived after 10 minutes, where the manager practically threw it on the table and said "your not paying for this"! Not, I'm sorry it took so long or any other apology. After complaining we had the garlic bread, squid and cannelloni removed from the bill, I wouldn't of paid for these anyway, so it was only the right thing to do. We were made to feel unwelcome by this point and left. I'm so gutted as I thought we'd found a little Italian gem which Nottingham is missing, and we would of been regulars. Needless to say, we will not be going back.

En route to a Sheryl Crow concert and well out of our eating comfort zone we chose La Salute as overall good reviews. Reasonable pizzas selected but NOT Italian sausage. I know my Italian sausage and the supermarket pork sausage which adorned both pizzas lacked garlic and anything like fennel. Disappointing. A bottle of Montelpulciano wine was delicious. Service was excellent but atmosphere cool by the window and AC machine. We shared a tiramisu for dessert, homemade but lacked any alcohol which should be included in a genuine tiramisu.Basically needs to do better.

We had stumbled upon this place one Saturday evening and decided to go in and were so delighted that we did! Despite my love of Italian food, the many Italian restaurants in Nottingham just don't really deliver the authentic Italian cuisine that I've experienced on my many visits to Italy. Therefore it was a wonderful surprise to find La Salute. For starter I had a delicious bruschetta (one of the best I've tasted) while my friend had beautiful tiger prawns in a tomato sauce. Mains didn't disappoint either and was a real treat. Service was great too though the only thing I think could be improved is the wine selection. Definitely a place worth visiting if you want great Italian food and are tired of the Italian chains in Notts serving mediocre food. I think I overheard the waitress saying that this is a family run restaurant so even more reason to support it!Can't wait to go back.

Me and my boyfriend visited here on a sunday afternoon. We were greeted by a pleasant waitress who showed us to our table. There is a great variety on the menu and the prices are reasonable, however, i have to say the service was poor and the food just ok. We were presented our drinks by hand (the waiter was holding the glass round the rim) we ordered bread and olives, the olives were of extremely poor quality and the bread was served without butter or olive oil. I ordered salmon linguini, i counted three flakes of salmon in the whole dish (i had essentially paid 9 pound for pasta in tomato sauce) the waiter did not ask if everything was ok with our meal. The toilets are disgusting and in the walkway to the ladies toilet there was a crumpled up t shirt on the floor by the door and one of the chefs was sat eating in the restaurant which i found un professional. All in all the food was decent but i don't think its very good value for money and the service isn't great.

My wife and I had the lunch special at £9.95. That bought us a starter, main course and any soft drink. Nottingham is really lacking in Italian restaurants, so I was happy to see this one open, but was worried it would be rubbish, Bella Italia. My worries were unfounded as we found last night, the food was beautiful and authentic. I had lasagne for my main and the pasta was fresh not dried, the garlic pizza bread we shared with out main was freshly thrown and lovely. Service was very friendly and all staff are Italian. It's a fairly new place in Nottingham and it was so sad that it was not packed on a Saturday night as they deserve to be.I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 for one reason only, the lighting is too bright, it makes it look uninviting from the outside and it takes away that intimate feel. If the owners get some dimmers in for the main ceiling lights and use the candles on the table (not sure why there's candles on the tables as they don't light them and if they had it wouldn't of made any difference as it's soooo bright) then it would get 5 stars from me for sure. Reasonable prices and good food makes for a success in my book. We will most definitely be back soon.

Both me and my 14 year old son, were on our way back from a weekend at Wembley to watch the rugby challenge cup final. We decided to stay over night in Nottingham on our way home. Stayed at the holiday inn, and the reception recommended a few Indian and Chinese restaurants. But after working round the centre we found the La Salute Italian. What a totally superb place, it was a bank holiday Monday evening and the restaurant was very quiet. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a really friendly waiter, the service was fantastic. We ordered 2 x pizzas and a side salad, and a couple of drinks. The pizzas were 2 of the best we've ever had, the base was thin and perfectly cooked. There is an excellent variety of choice of pizzas, and all very reasonably priced for what you get.... After talking to the waiter, he told me everyone who works there is Italian. The owner is italian, the chef is Italian. etc.. What a refreshing change to go somewhere and find they have a true passion for what they do and where they come from..So much nicer to have a really good Italian, rather than the usual Indian or Chinese...I travel and work all over the world, and It's a long time since I've been so impressed by the total experience. Coming from a Yorkshire man, it says a lot but It was money well spent, and I will defiantly defiantly be going to the La Salute again.... Even told the Holiday Inn reception to recommend the La Salute...If your in Nottingham Don't go for the usual Indian or Chinese, get ya self to La Salute....

Visited the restaurant for the first time last Saturday with my wife. We regularly holiday in Italy and this is the most authentic Italian food I have experienced outside of Italy. For starter I had the Caprese salad which was excellent and very tasty. My wife chose a mushroom dish for starter which was plentiful and very nice. For mains I had a pizza which was fantastic, very thin and tasty with plenty of topping. The pizza bread tasted exceptional and it was cooked to perfection. For main course my wife chose the seafood risotto which she thoroughly enjoyed and was cooked to perfection with a plentiful variety of seafood. The one aspect which may put people off is the décor and layout which is similar to a Café and not particularly intimate. Please don't let this put you off as the food more than makes up for this. This is definitely an eaterie that deserves to thrive and it is also something the City Centre is lacking. The large Italian themed chain restaurants are not a patch on this excellent family owned traditional restaurant.

I went with my daughter for lunch after reading a local newspaper review. It was quiet in there for a Saturday and feel the word had not got out yet. Starter, main and a soft drink for just under £10. I had mushrooms with spinach in a tomato and béchamel sauce. It was well presented and nice. My daughter had the garlic bread (pizza base) and that was really nice. For mains I tried lasagne which was nice but a bit to much cheese sauce for me personally but again it was piping hot and well presented. My daughter had the calzone which was really good and the pizza dough was lovely. The portions are very large and we could not finish them. So it would certainly suit students on a budget who want a very good pizza on a budget. Much better than the big pizza chains. It is not high end Italian food but the prices reflect that and it certainly would be a good option for families. Although we did not have wine I looked at the list and it must be one of the cheapest places in Nottingham. Food arrived quickly and the staff were friendly. I certainly will return and hope this prompts others to give it a try as Nottingham lacks individual Italian restsaurants.
