Food is not good, tastes like shop bought ready meals pasta. Kitchen is so loud shouting and swearing, servers have bad attitudes and are rude. Terrible restaurant absolute waste of money.

Very disappointed, had to sit upstairs, but it was too cramped and too warm, not at all nice for a meal, had to leave it as it wasn't private and uncomfortable, expensive wine on top, won't be back.

The pasta was really disappointing, bland and watery tomato spaghetti. Did not get a welcome by the women at the door who had a rude attitude towards us. Honestly could make tastier pasta at home. Would not recommend this place.

I use to love this place when I was studying in notts, and now I went back it’s just different. The spaghetti is really dry for some reason, and the waitress is just kinda bad at her job, didn’t really get our orders right and just overall a little rude. I get the place is busy, but we hardly got any service, and it’s even harder to get the servers to come over.So the three of us just ended up splitting two plates because we didn’t want to go through the whole thing again. Im asian btw so don’t know if it’s a race/language thing or not.

I don’t know why the waitress’s attitude was so bad, as if we owe her money. The restaurant seems unwilling to do business. If there is another choice, it is not recommended to go to here.

The food was incredible but unfortunately after driving 1 hour just to dine at sexy mammas, it was a horrible experience. The open kitchen meant you could hear every word from the kitchen which would have been fine but the man who seemed to be head chef was loud, argumentative and rude to all the staff members to the point we couldn’t focus on our own conversation and enjoy our time together. We left straight after our main as it was too intolerable. If this issue is solved, it would be a lovely experience

Pasta sauce was very watery and chunks of carrot are not what you see in a ragu my old Nonna Neighbour made….!!! Pasta also had the packet vibe to it … how do I rate it very low and not great . The sauce was very raw still and ate like it looked not great . What do I mean by raw it needed more time to reduce down so it stuck to the pasta and not looked like it was swimming in the sauce. My wife didn’t like hers either as it it was too spicy and the menu didn’t say it was or we would have avoided. To be honest you’d be better off buying some dolmio sauce and dried pasta from Tesco and chucking the ragu elements into it … Even the bread looked like part bake baguettes from Tesco. New name should be Sexy Momma loaves Spaghetti don’t know where either of these name aspects came from but the food ain’t sexy and it’s barely passable for pasta no Nonna would be proud to serve this mess. Avoid at all costs

We LOVE going to Sexy Mama whenever we’re in Nottingham! Always satisfied with the food and usually the service is amazing with really friendly and welcoming staff! Eight of us went for my boyfriend’s birthday, bought multiple bottles of wine, we had starters and mains. I was absolutely gobsmacked when paying that when the waitress handed the card machine to choose our tips individually (we split it evenly) we were openly berated by the waitress for not adding a tip. This happened for everyone around the table. If anyone had thought about adding their own tip, her behaviour made certain people not add one purely on the principle that she was extremely rude. It’s disappointing and it will make us try elsewhere as they might appreciate our custom regardless of tips that are OPTIONAL. Drop the attitude 👍🏻

My honest review of the food is that it's pretty good - not mind blowing, there are better places for pasta but you'll have a SOLID plate of pasta here. But the owner is a grade A, premium wagyu, prime fillet nobhead with no self awareness. They are not inclusive, they are not mindful and certainly not demure. I would highly consider avoiding this establishment and the others they own.

Came here to eat a few weeks ago with friends who were visiting. I appreciate the restaurant is very small which is why we have to sit outside if the few tables inside are occupied, but the area was very poorly kept and the tables rocking all over the place. We were then left waiting for almost 10 minutes for a drinks order and then when we asked for a menu we were told to go and take a picture of the A-board because they don’t do menus. Asked for an allergen sheet and was told there wasn’t one which I’m sure is a legal requirement… Fast forward 15 minutes are we finally got to place an order, though it took a while as the young lady taking the order went off to talk to her mum half way through. Finally received our food, small portion and was a little tasteless and watery, both the spicy prawn spaghetti and the gammon ragu which was bulked out with sausage and wasn’t listed on the menu. Not great for a £15 plate. The bread balsamic and olive oil was good, though that is very hard to get wrong. We quickly finished our meal because we wanted to get out of there, though we were again held up by the staff who we had to ask three times for the bill. Won’t be going back. Overpriced, poor quality, guests under appreciated by the staff and misleading menu. I could make better at home for a couple quid a plate.

Fun, quirky, eccentric and truly enjoyable. The reviews we have seen suggested that there were mixed views - but suspect that is down to expectations. We went a Saturday evening, got a table for two, selected really easy food from their small daily menu (3/4 starters, 4 mains) with an excellent beetroot smoked salmon and a burrata on Guacomole. Main courses were an excellent prawn spaghetti, and a nduja mezzalune. Wine list similarly short - but house white and red were excellent and excellent value. Service enthusiastic with a small dash of fawlty towers - but we enjoyed it and warmed to the clear enthusiasm of the front of house team. Well done to all concerned - and despite its feel, there was no sense of rush to get people in and out sharpish.

Went for lunch, a warm welcome from the owner who said there was freshly made tagliatelle available. The menu was short, 2 staters, 2 mains and tiramisu for dessert. It was a good sign!! We had burrata with fresh tomatoes, followed by tagliatelle in a tomatoe sauce with a slice of rolled pork on top…it was delicious and we will definitely be back.

Avoid at all costs! The service is absolutely abysmal. It took about 30 mins for them to take our order. We ordered 1x bread and 2x pasta dishes. The bread and olive oil which took almost 45 minutes to arrive and our mains then took another 40-45 minutes. Bear in mind there’s a huge queue waiting outside and 3 or 4 groups of people who arrived AFTER us all finished before us. So disappointing as we were really looking forward to this place and we didn’t even get a single apology. Will definitely not be returning

Came here with my partner the night before my graduation as we have been wanting to try this place for months. The service was absolutely shocking, all we ordered was some bread and pasta. It took about 30 minutes for some bread and oil to arrive - this should take seconds? We then waited about another 40 minutes for the pasta to arrive (bear in mind there are 4 items on the menu) and there was a huge queue outside so you would think they would try and be fast! Overall it took 2 hours for 1x bread and 2x pasta dishes and they still hadn’t cleared the plates or given us the bill. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Genuinely the worst restaurant experience I have ever had, wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy. To begin with we got seated very quickly but then ignored for 30 minutes just waiting to order. We chose 2 drinks, bread and 2 bowls of pasta. The bread took 40 minutes to get to our table even though it was just warm bread with a very small bowl of olive oil. Relatively bland and nothing special. However after finishing that it took another 45 minutes for us to receive our pasta dishes which in no way were anything special. One of the pasta dishes was served with the wrong type of pasta which is impressive for a menu with only 4 options. As well as this the portions weren’t the largest but were an alright size however after already waiting an hour and a half it didn’t exactly fill me up. Once we were done eating it took then another 25 minutes for them to take away the plates, alongside no sort of apology or ounce of speed. When we finally received the bill the waiter had the balls to ask if I wanted to leave a tip after 2 hours of waiting for very mediocre pasta. I also forgot to add that once we finished those first drinks we were never again asked if we wanted any more. Finally, to summarise, for £40 it is a disgusting price for such incompetent service. Even when the bill came no apology was even uttered for the wait. If I was the owner I would be horrified with how this business is ran, the worst experience I have ever had.

Overall dissapointing. Had the baratta starter which was drowned in oil and with bland tomatoes. Partner had the spicy prawn spaghetti which he said was okay but I noticed he had picked some of the prawns out, which is not like him. I had the mushroom risotto which tasted lovely but the rice was undercooked. I guess they were aiming for 'al dente' however it was hard and gritty. Nice atmosphere and cosy setting. Table was on a slant though which made it a little awkward. Staff were nice for the most part but seemed to get annoyed with us when we asked if they had any extras such as bread...they just repeated 'It's only what's on the menu' and pointed at the menu board like we were stupid to ask or something. Nice concept but didn't work for us. Also, over priced.

This place has a lot of hype, I got a bowl of spaghetti that was bland and watery, and a penne dish that was salty and watery, both of which cost £15, and when I asked for Parmesan cheese they charged £1.50 for it. Fresh pasta is lovely but honestly, I didn’t think it was too special. Needs some work on the garlic bread- felt pre-packaged to me and not freshly made (felt like it was an M&S ciabatta garlic bread) not an authentic Italian bread or round style pizza dough. Over my three years at uni i visited Sexy Mama countless times and was never disappointed. With a mini menu that changes daily written on a chalk board outside, and always full. The best Italian restaurant i’ve ever found in the UK The restaurant is tiny and beautiful and in the summer it has long benches outside. The bread, that comes out warm, is a must. And the burrata in the summer is absolutely beautiful. With the small menu, you always have a risotto, vegetarian, meat and fish option at least. I’ve never had a bad meal here and will definitely return every time i go to Nottingham

One of the main fixtures in Hockley for some time, I had been looking forward to checking this well regarded pasta place. It is very compact downstairs and ate upstairs. There are facilities on both floors for those that may like to know that. Service was excellent as one would expect. Decor wise its fairly rustic tbf and pretty clean overall. This is very much a quick eat place I felt and this is helped by the very small menu in a chalkboard. There can be limited choices which some may find disappointing. Food was very good indeed and tasty. I had the beetroot gnocchi with spinach. Luscious sauce. I also had the salami starter which was good quality. Bottle of prosecco was very good also. Price wise this is reasonable. This is worth a visit especially of you want to eat well and then move on.

As we arrived, they put a line through the king prawn spaghetti, but as we were seated, I spotted more prawns arriving, so I was happy! We waited about 10 minutes for a table so it was not too bad. We didn't realise how small the restaurant is but it didn't bother us, although it is a little bit cramped. The music was very loud, which was unnecessary as the atmosphere would have been better without it. We'd been told that all the pasta and sauces are pre-cooked. We did notice all the pre-cooked pasta in the chiller, but the food came out in record time and was hot, so it didn't bother us. The turnaround is so quick that it's a great idea to pre cook the pasta & sauces & just add the 'fresh ingredients'. We also found that the sauces were watery, but I think that, again, it is down to the pre-cooking, as it's not had enough time to thicken. It's not a relaxing restaurant as they want you in and out as quickly as possible, but it's worth a visit for the experience.

We shared the burrata (two whole pieces) starter with tomato (it's only 1 but chopped) with ciabatta, these were very fresh. King prawn spaghetti with chilli was great, so was the tortellini, again very fresh! We shared the panna cotta dessert, one of the better panna cottas we have had. I did get food envy seeing other's who ordered the penne bolognese. Pricewise, it was a little pricey, starter was £9, mains were around £12-14.50 and dessert was £7.50, but that's just the way things are now. Service wasn't very welcoming nor warm, but they were very quick to take orders, bring food and take plates away etc. Atmosphere personally wasn't great; we sat downstairs which was quite cramped. Our table was by the stairs so kept getting nudged by the waiting staff and customers passing by. Our table was a high table and sat on stools, so not too comfortable but ok for a fairly quick lunch. Music was quite loud and upbeat, so not a chilled lunch. If you're want great Italian come here. If you're after a comfortable relaxed environment, maybe this isn't the place for you.

I regret to share my dining experience at this restaurant today, which was somewhat disappointing overall. While placing my order, one of the waitstaff exhibited an attitude that made me quite uncomfortable. He seemed to display a discriminatory attitude, with an unfriendly tone during the ordering process, even rolling his eyes. This lack of respect made the dining experience unpleasant and negatively impacted my overall impression. However, I must fairly acknowledge the performance of the other waitstaff. Apart from the displeasing experience with one individual, the rest of the staff were friendly and provided good service. This was somewhat reassuring, but it also emphasized the inappropriateness of the behavior exhibited by the particular staff member. I hope that this restaurant takes this feedback seriously and enhances staff training, particularly in the aspects of respect and courtesy. Every customer should feel welcome and respected during their dining experience, without encountering any form of discrimination or unfriendliness. I trust that this review serves as an opportunity for improvement, leading to a more enjoyable and respectful dining experience at this establishment.

Been trying for over 2 weeks to book the new restaurant in West Bridgeford for this weekend for a family birthday meal but no-one ever answers the phone. No online booking from their website, not even an email. Given up now and booked somewhere else which is a shame because we really liked both other restaurants in Nottingham city.

The size of a shoebox, but so worth it for the beautiful homemade pasta.

West Bridgford - nice enough place spoilt by inappropriate and ridiculously loud music. It was European club music at 6pm 😳 One waiter even said when delivering our food that he didn’t know what it was as he couldn’t hear the chef!! And the food was rather good. What a shame. Won’t be returning…

Visited the West Bridgford restaurant with my young family for an impromptu lunch today. The food was fantastic, showcased authentic Italian flavours, and the service was delightful. Everything is clearly made to order and no request to simplify foods was too much for my fussy children. A perfect blend of delicious cuisine and brilliant hospitality from the staff. I would highly recommend a visit if you’re in the vicinity.

Absolutely everything possible went wrong. I just wouldn't bother. Asked to move mid meal so they could make a bigger table for people waiting. Drinks served AFTER mains. Mains were tastless and I didn't see any fresh pasta. Tiny portion as a main - hard to justify even half the price. When we highlighted our concerns we were confronted with a rude male - so much for customer service. He even went to say "look how busy we are" to dismiss our concerns. To top it off we were encouraged to leave a tip. I feel they should have discounted our meal! Bread tasted stale - definitely not freshly prepared. I asked for Parmesan several times and came to the conclusion they'd run out. Unpleasant atmosphere. Squished in like sardines. Far better eateries in West B. Unfortunately this let's them down.

Visited on a Saturday night and the restaurant was overcrowded with the music which sounded like a radio station on way too loud. The menu is difficult to read and ordering can take a long time, we had tried to order our mains when we were told they were no longer taking food orders as the chef was apparently stressed. When the food arrived it was disappointing and over priced and later discovered we were charged for parmesan. A disappointing experience and will not return.

Incredibly disappointing visit to the West Bridgford restaurant. We have visited the one in Nottingham and it was one of the best Italians we have ever had. West Bridgford however was not up to the same standard. For starters the menu was practically illegible and the waiters didn’t have a clue what was on it, so couldn’t advise us on what was best to order. We ordered 2 dishes. To then be told that they had run out. Garlic bread was one of them!! My partner ordered the gnocchi which looked like the size of a starter, yet the rest of the dishes were what you would expect for the size of a main meal. It felt like we were being royally ripped off! Over priced and under whelmed, we will not be visiting again.

I've been a big fan of Zizzi's lasagne for years but today was the first time hubby ordered lasagne too - and of course we both loved our meal. Nia took our order and was a delight. She was quick to make sure we ordered our drinks and take our order for food and all done with a lovely smile. When our food arrived it was piping hot and so tasty. The balance of the melt in your mouth pasta to meat sauce and bechamel was so good all topped off with a sprinkle of crunch. We also had the green side salad served with a tasty dressing and wonderful cheese shavings. We will be back!
