Food was very nice, great decor. However the bistros customer service let it down badly: On booking we were asked to pay £10 deposit per guest ( on a Saturday afternoon in October). We asked what was on the deserts list and was told to go up and take a photo of it to read at the table! When ordering deserts we were asked to order quickly as we had a time limit of 2 hours!! One of our party cancelled due to Ill health Leaving 7 paying ladies. We were not refunded the deposit. One more negative- the parking spaces are far too narrow resulting in a dinted door when leaving. Sorry but won’t be returning any time soon, far too many other eateries close by that offer excellent customer service.

We booked the Pavilion Bistro for our wedding meal as it’s our favourite local restaurant. The service was incredible and the food was amazing. Very friendly staff who looked after all of our guests. The management and staff all went over and above to make it the perfect afternoon and evening. We have enjoyed every meal at the Pavilion and hope to visit for many years to come.

I came here yesterday for my grandmas 80th birthday, firstly they wouldn’t allow us to place the tables as we wanted, we had a party of 17 and wanted one long table so we could all socialise, we were separated on to 4 tables and had to shout across the room to one another, very odd start Four of us ordered steaks and every single one was cooked terribly, all extremely well done…cremated! When I mentioned mine to the waitress she said I wouldn’t get any rarer than that, there was no pink whatsoever. I ordered the kids omelette and chips and she had a bigger portion than any of us! There were about 6 chips on my partners plate a long with a steak that looked like awful beef jerky The younger members of staff were lovely but that was it. The only positive was spending time with my family, albeit from a far! The price was a real shock 😳😳 Really don’t recommend sadly!

The place is beautiful and the food was lovely. What let's this place down is the abysmal service. The order for the first course and drinks were efficient. When we wanted to order a dessert and another drink was when everything fell down. I asked the gentleman clearing our plates if we could order desserts, he disappeared and the one waitress serving seemed to go to every table apart from ours to see if they wanted to order anything else. After a half hour wait we gave up. We went to celebrate our Ruby Wedding and it was ruined. I felt quite upset as I am disabled and wondered if I was being discriminated against. We looked at the menus for celebration afternoon tea and Christmas but will give our custom to another restaurant in the area of which there are a few.

Afternoon Tea 27/07/24 Afternoon Tea 90th birthday treat for 3. Booked 3 weeks in advance at £20 per head as per website and paid deposit of £30. Had to ask for hot water for the tea and more milk. Ordered drinks from bar which never arrived. On paying balance was asked for an extra £12? Told price had increased week earlier and new menu. In a nutshell - not my problem. I will pay what website quoted when I booked as not informed of any increase. In truth £24 for that Afternoon Tea and Service?? Not what was expected from The Pavilion and previous experience there.

I really wasn’t sure what to expect when my mother and father in law booked this restaurant for my husband’s birthday. But wow what an amazing venue. The grounds are lovely. However, the most impressive elements were the food and service. I had tempura prawns which literally melted in the month. My nephew had the squid which he said was really nice. In fact all 8 of us loved our starters and our main courses. I’d definitely recommend the steak pie. The pastry was so thin which was the perfect vessel to hold the steak and ale sauce. The gravy was divine. The staff were so lovely, Iain and Debbie were so welcoming and charming throughout our meal. But I have to say all the staff were exceptional. Thoroughly recommend and we will be back!

Disappointing to be charged for unwell colleagues who couldn’t attend the meal as ‘no show’. Called restaurant before to apologise about illness. Spoke to manager but was not informed of cancellation fee still being applied. Never come across such an absurd policy when some of the group still attends for a 3 course meal and drinks. So many unoccupied tables but informed it was at capacity... It was a shame as it ruined a nice meal. Don’t think I’ll return to a restaurant who fleeces it regular customers

Second time coming here and another poor review. On this occasion the food and service were ok but we were lumped with a £30 fee for “no shows” (£10 per head). Despite informing the restaurant prior and plenty of table availability they refused to give us the deposit back. This is not standard practice for restaurants. If the restaurant is informed that the booking is changed then this should be respected especially if the restaurant is not busy. Life is unpredictable with illness etc and the customers who do show up should not be penalised. Really puts me off coming back and I definitely wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

A disappointment. There is more I can say but my biggest gripe was with the vegetarian burger. Halloumi and mushroom, costing the same as the beef burger. Halloumi was just two blocks, not even slices that cover the burger, I am talking cubes. And the mushroom, just sat in the middle of the bun taking up just about half of its surface area. My advice, get a portabella and slice the halloumi then maybe it could at least serve as a half decent burger. At least the arancini starter was nice.

If I could give no stars I would. I had to cancel a meal for 6 as one of our party was taken poorly, so rather than lose the table I thought it would be nice for my Partner and I to go for a meal instead (use the reservation rather than lose the table) I called the restaurant to advise there would only be 2 attending due to illness, only to be told I would lose £40.00 of the deposit I had paid ! I asked why it could not be offset against the meal the 2 attending would have and was told, very abruptly, that it was part of the Company's T's & C's that they do not do refunds, and that it was unfeasible to offset for the 2 who would have attended. She said I could rebook the meal for a later date - the deposit would be 'held over' until then, which means they have £60 of my money until we re-book which could be in 6 days or 6 weeks, dependent on when the person is well enough. I booked this reservation online and I have checked my emails and online booking for these T's & C's and find can nothing, there is nothing on the website that says they will keep the deposit for any reason ! The website does not have a copy and I have called the Restaurant to request a copy of them be emailed to me, I did tell the lady on the phone that if I had the choice we would not be attending at all but I have no choice if I do not want to lose my £60, and we certainly will not be going back any time soon.

Where do I start? From the moment we walked in I knew we’d made a terrible mistake. There was a very strange, awkward welcome from a young lad who thought he was hilarious by welcoming us in his very best Spanish accent, to the cheap and nasty lightweight cutlery and paper napkins. As we were already there we ordered just starters to test the water. At this point we were told we had to order our main to which I said I didn’t want to. We were then accosted by the same waiter five minutes later insisting we ordered our main. I again said we didn’t want to and we didn’t want to be forced to either. A very strange set up, you want to feel welcomed in a restaurant and this was far from what we were accustomed to. Starters arrived and as predicted were terrible. Rice balls looked like they’d just been defrosted then heated up and the muscles were the smallest we’ve ever encountered. Quite frankly this is probably one the worst restaurants we’ve been to. We sent both back, paid for our wine and made a swift exit.

We walked in to be greeted by a grumpy bar tender who seemed like he couldn’t be bothered to check the clipboard for our reservation. We were seated and offered a drink - still no smile from the bar tender. The food was average at best - the portion size was dire for an adult - my meal consisted of 2 fillets of sea bass, a smear of tomato purée and a few roast potatoes. I ended up finishing my daughter’s leftovers because I was still so hungry. The desserts looked mass-produced and uninspiring so I opted for a speciality coffee, which they forgot and so took off the bill. Finally, we left, and despite 3 members of staff being stood by the door, nobody said goodbye to us. We have visited here a few times and have never been particularly bowled over by the food and service (it is just local to us so we wanted to support the business), but this experience lacked any warmth or friendliness, so we won’t be visiting again. Parsnips shavings , would have just preferred roasted parsnips but probably because the other veg wasn’t very nice. Pudding was the smallest sliver of roulade which was basically sponge with lemon moose . Sorry it Very disappointing .

We had a great experience dining here on a Saturday evening. The service was prompt and super attentive, the food was excellent and the fillet steak I had was cooked perfectly. Will certainly return again in future.

My partner and I visited the Pavillion for a birthday meal in September and we couldn’t fault the food or service. Everything was perfect. We were served by a tall gentleman. He was so attentive and made the night really special. Best service I’ve had in a long time. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Eat here alot. Always so nice. However, end of Sept 23, took the family for an early dinner, chicken came out tasting like tuna, obviously cooked in same pan at same time.that had to go back. Meal was changed. But we had to eat without her whilst they made her something else. I had fillet steak pie . Takes 40 mins to cook. I got the meal in 25 mins. They were busy amd as soon as we sat down they said we need the table back by a specific time. Blumin eck, can we just sit down first and look at menu. Some of the meat in the pie was alright but most of it was tough. I did tell them, but fell on deaf ears. They just said it's fillet steak, it can't be tough. Well it is, im a 60 year old woman, i do not need to be told when a meal isnt right and food is tough. I wrapped the meat up and put it in a tissue to take home for my dogs. He then walked past me and said, it cant of been that bad, youve eaten it all. Not wasting my time arguing with a waiter. Nothing else was said, so after paying 24.00 for 8 chips, and an uneatable pie, we will not be returning to your establishment. And will not be recommending to any more of my business clients to eat here. Very disappointed guys, and rather rude. 😞

Sad to say that we booked for the Pvillion and whilst teh staff were very attentve, the food really wasnt anything special. Certainly doesnt justify the price tag. Vegetables smothered in cream (peas and Cauliflower Cheese - minus cheese) really werent pleasant. We ordered the Roast Beef, which came and looked perfectly cooked (Medium Rare) sadly lacked any flavour at all, especially for supposed 30 day matured Beef. The accompanying Gravy tasted like it had been knocked up from a tin of Bisto. The Carrot mash was watery and certainly not pleasant. Hopefully we caught the chef on a bad day! Whilst the setting and service are top notch, we rushed home for a Covid Test, just to see if our tastebuds had stopped working.

Enjoyed a fabulous evening at the Pavilion, Friday 29th September, celebrating my son's 40th birthday! The food was excellent, ambience perfect, the staff & Debbie were very welcoming and attentive, making sure that everything was just right for 13 guests. It was a very memorable evening. Would highly recommend.

First visit 27.09 and won’t be the last. Date night for me and my girl, wanted somewhere cosey and cute but modern this fit the bill! Tried to book online but was no availability so call them by the off chance and they managed to get us in. Welcomed in by a lovely lady, polite and her professionalism was second to none! First impressions establishment was stunning the pictures do not do this place justice. We opted for the 2 courses for £15 (I think it was) good variety of menu and worth every penny. We also had lobster to share for the first time and I can say I’d definitely have it again. Only downfall was fish for the main my partners fish was completely raw on the inside right through we advised the waiters who assisted straight away and offered to replace or refund without hesitation and couldn’t have been more apologetic. Beautiful night and we’re coming back for the Christmas special night 👌

I had asparagus & poached egg the plate had lots of water on it. I had duck for mains and the duck was emptied on to my plate with the bloody juices it was cooked in. I did not expect this from a restaurant of your standard. Dessert was good.

Lovely Bistro set in a beautiful location. The staff were super friendly and I would've eaten everything on the menu, great choice for everyone! We revisited this evening and were not disappointed. I would however like to mention a certain member of the serving staff. I don't know his name, he has a beard and we have been lucky enough to be served by him on several occasions. He has a fantastic way with customers, very knowledgeable of the food and local area. He just makes our visit special and is an asset to the restaurant!

We had a great lunch on Friday. All the staff were fantastic and were so friendly. We really enjoyed our Seabass. Lovely surrounding and fairly priced for the quality you get. Debbie was especially nice especially having our fussy mother with us and the man and young girl serving in the restaurant were so friendly. We will be back.

Visited the Pavilion last week for the first time in many years. Have previously experienced poor service here which is why I haven’t been for so long. Decided to give it another try but I’m sorry to say that the service is still below standard. The food we had really was fantastic, we had two courses for £15 and ordered the sea bass, chicken breast, chocolate brownie and lemon roulade. I can’t fault the food and the kitchen team are doing a brilliant job but they are being let down by some of the front of house team. I have never been spoken to in such a rude manner in a restaurant before and it’s certainly not acceptable. After speaking to friends about the experience, I realise I’m not the only one that this has happened to but I will choose to take my custom elsewhere in the future. Many other reviews raise the same issue, this really does need to be addressed by the senior management / owners of the business.

Rude lady served us asking if we'd reserved our table, we hadn't but there was no reserved sign on it. Once my wife was seated she came and put the reserved sign down and then seated another couple with us on our table. Food is over priced and they added a service charge which I didn't realise until I'd paid the bill.
