The only cafe in the centre of Painswick as far as I am aware. Young man serving was polite. Dog mouching around the cafe not so polite in trying to lick my plate and staring incessantly at me. I know dogs can do this but I have been a dog owner for many years and do appreciate places that allow dogs but a doggy ‘smell’ was in the air of the cafe as you entered and a couple of not so hygienic looking doggy beds didn’t improve the atmosphere. If dogs are encouraged, freshness and hygiene is so important. I drank the coffee and didn’t linger. Pity, needs to get the presentation and general ambience improved.

Visited The Painswick Pooch Coffee House after bumping into Gemma in the street, who was really friendly and took a liking to my pooch Raz(pomeranian). The coffee house was very warm and welcoming with a comfortable homely feel. I let my pooch off his lead and he roamed around freely, he was also given treats by the owners. And spent time following Poppy around (resident pooch). I would highly recommend anyone with a dog to pay this place a visit, it's very difficult to find places that are pet friendly. So it was really nice to find such a lovely place where we could act sit inside and enjoy the comforts it has to offer. The bagels was lovely and my dad throughly enjoyed his cheese scone. Myself and Raz would definitely visit again. Oh and thank you Gemma for the collapsible water bowl, Raz will enjoy taking it out on our next adventure.

The response was that we’d already had a drink so we’d already received a favour. Needless to say we cancelled the outstanding order, paid our bill and made a hasty retreat.

Having recently moved to Painswick, we were looking for somewhere to get our caffeine fix. We were delighted to come across The Pooch. In the centre of Painswick, the owners, Ali and Gemma, are beyond welcoming. As suggested by the name, it is dog friendly and you may be greeted by Poppy, their schnauzer. There is a calorifically impressive array of cakes and scones. I had one of Gemma's homemade chicken and bacon wraps. Delicious. It would be even better if the savoury offerings could be available every day. If you're fed up with anodyne chain coffee shops, we strongly recommend you seek out the Pooch, even if you don't have a dog! We have British Short Hair cats who are currently house cats but we may take them out on leads (yes, I know, weird!). We might take them to the Pooch. But that's for another review. Simon and Arah

We approached Patchwork Mouse with anticipation having heard good reviews. Unfortunately we felt let down when after being seated by the proprietor we were then advised by the proprietoress we couldn't be served. We were unaware they closed early each Wednesday. Being travellers you don't always have the right information to hand. A sign on the door and having the owners on the same wavelength would have helped. In fairness they did agree to do a takeaway and the scones we purchased were very good. The coffee however was quite bad. Initially it put a dampener on our visit to this quaint village. In Painswick (the quintessential Cotswold village) is one of the most delightful little coffee/tea/cake shops. The owner/managers are such nice people. Really friendly and attentive. A visit to this little shop is always a delight. We try to pop in as often as we can manage - its always such a treat.

Our first port of call when we arrived in Painswick. We received a warm and friendly welcome and lots of great advice on places to visit while we were in the area. Delicious coffee and home made cakes were welcome after our long journey.

We only had coffee because we'd recently had a large breakfast at our B&B.; However there were some lovely looking cakes on the counter! The owner was very chatty and helpful. The walls are hung with work by local artists which are for sale.

My wife and I were visiting the cotswolds and and just happened to pass the Patchwork Mouse Whilst exploring Painswick, it looked inviting so we went in for a coffee, it is quite a small place and really friendly and comfortable, it's impossible to get past the home made cakes without trying one or two (so be warned ) We enjoyed our coffee and cake and the owner came to our table and gave us some local information and chatted for a few minutes. We really enjoyed our visit to Painswick mainly due to our visit to The Patchwork Mouse,so give a try.

After a country walk, my husband, newborn baby and I stopped by The Patchwork Mouse for a coffee. The lady that manages the place was rather dour, but we ordered regardless. Then our baby did what babies do and we needed a baby change pronto. We asked if they had a baby change, nope. We asked if we could change her on our table, nope (- even though there was no one else in the cafe). The dour manageress said that I must do it on the floor! Not wanting to put my newborn on the floor in the walkway to the toilet (and to save my bad back), we awkwardly changed her on my husband's lap. We could see the manageress having a peek to make sure we were not using her precious tables. This place is not family friendly, the atmosphere is stale ... Oh and if you want a skinny latte forget it as they don't have skimmed milk. Avoid avoid avoid!

I'm not much of a sandwich person (toasted or not) after 10am, so was not very excited when the wife and kids decided to have toasties for lunch when we were visiting the small town of Painswick. But I was very wrong, and must admit that the toasties were excellent, and also the fruit scone which my son absolutely devoured and proclaimed the best scone he's ever eaten (he's 8 but very keen about his food).

Friendly, welcoming, excellent tea and a big portion of delicious coffee & walnut cake. Add to this the wonderful location and you'd struggle to find a cafe to beat it anywhere.

Heard great things about this little place and wanted (needed?!) a really decent coffee - which we definitely got. But there was no warm welcome on offer the Sunday afternoon we visited. Perhaps the two person team were ultra busy or something was up - was a pity as if we had received a warmer welcome it would have made a 4* rating for certain.
