Absolutely fabulous Sunday lunch today. Food was amazing, cooked to perfection with very generous portion size. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. The Old Fox is now our new favourite!!

Our latest meal was a very disappointing, not sure if they have a new chef but our lunch was no where near the usual standard , starters of pigeon breast was quite tough very small with a lot of cranberries uncooked on the plate . , the venison mains weren’t much better poor daunphinoise 2 other mains of the pie of the day were ok but they should be for £18 ,a pie nice carrots and mash. The dessert were ok the ginger cake with pear potion was very small, and the cheese cake was deconstructed which wasn’t really cheesecake. What was most disappointing was the cost £200 which is a lot for just average food. . I doubt we will return which is sad because we have always enjoyed the food before ,

Great stop for lunch on our trip

This pub is way above average in all categories, someone has trained the staff in the ways of fine dining and it really makes for a nice experience. The food is not your usual pub fair, although you can get a burger or fish and chips, there are other choices on the menu that are delicious - balanced and layered in taste and are presented professionally. Cannae wait to go back.

We've lived within 20 minutes drive from this Pub for 30 odd years and have only ever popped in for a beer. We were looking to have a family lunch and my Wife suggested the Old Fox at Coaley. What a great suggestion. The staff were welcoming, friendly and provided first class service throughout. The ambience of the Pub is excellent. Tables are well spaced, decor is traditional and there is an air of peace which makes for a pleasant gathering. Beer and wines were excellent. The Sunday Roasts were exceptional, quality ingredients and portions were very generous. We will be returning without doubt on a regular basis and not leaving it another 30 years!!

This is one of the best pubs in the Country, in my view. And I like my pubs. The service is phenomenal. Someone there really knows how to train and how to motivate a front of house team, which is ever friendly, ever engaging and ever happy to make your visit better than "the norm". The beers, lagers and ciders on tap are knowledgeably sourced and diverse. I'm particularly pleased to see they have an no-alcohol offering on tap ("Clean Head") which is a superb pint. Food is always sensational. I visit around 6 times a year (driving an hour from where I live) and I've never had a dish that wasn't carefully put together, generous and tasty. But what really makes it is the atmosphere. It's still a place locals gather. It's a place that the community clears pivots around. A pub as it should be, and a pub hitting all the high notes perfectly, and consistently. Bravo - Old Fox! Please keep going just as you are!

The pub is lovely and has been done up really nicely, love that the theme and name match. The pork belly roast was great, large Yorkshire, lots of veg - could have had a couple more potatoes and these were a bit salty. Although, the Roast was lovely I think there are better in the area. We had a party of 9 which is a difficult number I realise but we were quite cramped on the table provided.

11 of us met for a family birthday meet up. Not visited before and couldn't have been better looked after. Booking easy, pre-ordered, different needs met. Friendly welcome and everybody loved the food. Fantastic - it made a great celebration.

Brilliant pub restaurant, the best in the area. I've eaten there several times but this time I thought I'd booked for a meal with my wife last night, but when I arrived it was clear I'd not completed my booking online. No matter - they found us a table quickly, and the food and service was brilliant. Without a doubt it was the best pie I've ever eaten! Five stars all around.

Certainly the best pork belly I have ever eaten, but possibly the best meal I have eaten in my life. Everything was perfect and chef Jake deserves total credit. The service was impeccable too, I cannot recommend the Old Fox more highly.

Liked the pub, but said we wanted a meal. Pub was not crowded, no reserve notices on table but Barman insisted we sat on a table next to another group. I don't want to hear their conversation. I don't suppose they want to hear us either. LET ME CHOOSE MY TABLE. Two battered haddocks ordered and one Burger. Haddock was long very thin made to look bigger my batter. A small amount of pureed peas. Other person had burger which was very gristly. Food expensive for what was on plate. Good selection of beers though., so next time just going for a drink.

We had a Sunday lunch here to celebrate my wifes birthday. I have never been out of the house and eaten a Sunday lunch that was as good as this one. The food was incredible. We had Lamb and the kids had the Gammon and both meats were cooked to perfection and delicious. The vegetebles were perfectly cooked and came with the most incredible cauliflower and brocolli cheese I have had home or away. There was gravey to spare but I saw a table ask for more and it was clearly no issue to have more brought out. £18 per head for adults and £10 for the kids was amazing value for the quality. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful. None of the waitresses looked bored or indifferent. Local pubs like this are proving to be harder to find and this is one I would like to see around for a very long time. The Old Fox is clearly a popular choice as they had to turn people away while we were there so it pays to book in advance.

Best Sunday roast I’ve had in a pub! Absolutely delicious. My partner had the roast gammon, and I had the duo of meats (lamb & beef). The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to fit us in last minute. Enjoy! :-)

We found the Old Fox through helpful reviews, and drove up from Bristol for Sunday lunch. The welcome was warm and friendly, the food was delicious, the service excellent from a young crew, and overall a fabulous experience. On the food, we had the veggie Sunday roasts - lentil shepherds pie, butterbean chickpea and lentil loaf - which came with all the trimmings - a beautiful array of veggies. The desserts were great - a heaped apple, gooseberry, cranberry crumble and a moist almond-lemon cake. For St Patrick’s Day lunch, obviously Guinness 0.0. Good to see other AF beers and drinks. Very enjoyable, thoroughly recommended.

The rating should speak for itself. The Number 1 place for quality, flavourful (some locally sourced) foods accompanied by local beers set in a traditional countryside village pub. Medium-sized Car Park to the rear, but with any popular venue, these will fill up quickly. There is plenty of on-road parking available. The whole Team will make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in the door. They also serve a decent sized double burger, just make sure your hungry.

Best Sunday Roast I've had in a very long time, everything cooked to perfection, flavourful and hot! Desserts were lovely too. Staff attentive and friendly, nothing too much trouble, very reasonably priced too.

We were walk-ins at peak time Sunday afternoon. The staff were accomodating, attentive and knowledgeable.

Four of us had dinner here and the food was truly delicious. Lamb rump, hake and fillet steak were all perfect. We all agreed it was the best meal we had eaten anywhere. Great staff and lovely atmosphere and surroundings. Would recommend 100%.

Very nice food and huge portion sizes. Ordered two roast dinners which came really quickly. Also had a pudding which was light and delicious. Staff were very friendly and polite. The only slight downside was that the food wasn’t very warm, so by the time was halfway through my roast was already cold.

We were coming to the end of a week's holiday in the area and decided on The Fox for lunch. What a great choice! It was surprisingly busy for a February midweek lunch but it's easy to see why. We had a warm welcome for us and treats for the dogs and quickly settled down to study the menu. I had the lamb rump which was, honestly, one of the best pub meals I've ever had, and my wife had the ginger beer & mustard glazed ham hock, unrecognizable from the usual pub "ham egg & chips" fare. Both dishes were perfectly seasoned and cooked and came with really tasty and well cooked vegetable accompaniments. Just managed to save space for the creme brulee with roast rhubarb - amazing. With 2 pints of excellent local beer the bill came to just under £70 which we thought was excellent value. It's a pity we don't live locally as we'd certainly be regular customers if we did.

Really lovely family friendly country pub. We were first time visitors and really enjoyed the relaxed ambience. Mother-in-law had the fish and chips - she is an expert and described the chips as "best ever". Lovely area for walking. Highly recommended all round.

This place was recommended by two different friends, so thought it high time we tried it out. It was a treat for daughter’s birthday. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The young man who took our orders and brought our meals out was courteous and friendly. The meals were outstanding.

This was our 3rd visit. Never been disappointed. X6 of us for dinner last night. As always the food was superb. Generous portions ( except the hake), excellent presentation & the freshly cooked food tasted delicious. We were all thrilled with our meals. The steaks were cooked to perfection. We had another fantastic meal at the Fox for my birthday. We had Crab Bon Bons & Tempura Prawns and Mushroom Arancini to start. Followed by Blade of Beef in Red Wine and Grilled Cod Fillet. The guy servicing us heard our conversation at some point of the evening and my pudding came out like this ☺️ with the ENTIRE pub singing happy birthday. We didn't realise that it was Christmas Carol night, it made the evening extra special to hear all the carols whilst we ate Thank you again The Fox your staff are always efficient, polite and fantastic

Fantastic gem of a local village pub! Great selection of well-kept ales, spirits and a variety of food options should be enough for anyone. Lovely and cosy interior which fills up fairly quickly on an evening.

I really enjoyed the roast dinner. Parsnip, braised red cabbage, leek and cauliflower cheese... And extra gravy. All my favourite things as part of the standard roast. The servers did a great job. Pub was busy but the atmosphere was nice and the Old fox team were doing a great job. Just wished I'd had room for dessert. I look forward to my next visit.

We had our works Christmas ‘do’ here The food was beautiful Loads of choices lovely knowledgeable staff I am coeliac with nut and shellfish allergies so difficult to cater for and it was safe to eat and and absolute pleasure To cook for a large group of us and offer so much choice but yet to do it beautifully must be so tricky Thank you

Really impressed with service and food here. I have previously been once before and the food was excellent then, so I decided to book a table for my birthday meal this weekend. We were a very big group and staff accommodated us very well, all of the food came out together and everyone was impressed with the quality of the food. Highly recommend, and will definitely be back!

How do you make a Sunday roast amazing? Go to the old fox at coaley, absolutely fantastic team and the best Sunday roast by far. It’s a good 40 minutes drive from Bristol but well worth it. Thank you all and will be back very soon.

What a good find this place was. After a long day it was good place to refresh and made even better by the really welcoming and friendly team serving the drinks and food. Definitely would recommend this place. Food was very nice.

Brilliant pub restaurant. We popped in on a Friday lunchtime, originally just for a drink (and the place was full, which spoke volume).. However, the smell of the food and the menu left is no choice but to order, and glad we did. Excellent quality food. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good choice of real ales. Lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be back. Not often you see a pub so busy on a Friday lunchtime, recommend booking ahead.

Was looking for a dog friendly place to eat on the way to Devon, that would also suit a picky teenager. Found The Old Fox after an online search, thought that it would do and rang ahead to book a table. From the moment we arrived, they exceeded all my expectations. The decor is a wonderful mix of modern, traditional and quirky. The food was fantastic and a good price. The staff were friendly, professional and prompt. It is definitely worth the detour off the beaten path but I would recommend booking ahead.

Visited as a party of 4 and we were not disappointed, we had rump steak and the chicken supreme. The boys said it was the best steak they have ever had! So tasty and tender. The chicken supreme was absolutely delicious!! I love the atmosphere...

Great Friday pub with great food .

This was a great little pub out in the country that had an amazing Sunday Brunch selection. I had the vegetarian wellington while others had the trio or beef options for the brunch and all were delicious. Fresh and hot and very generous portions. The sharing veg was also really good and prepared well (simple steam of squash, green beans, cabbage, and peas). Cheesecake desert was rich and decadent and tasted very much like s'mores. Staff was incredibly polite and attentive and prices were very reasonable. Overall a delightful experience I would recommend to anyone in the area.

This was our first visit. We booked a table originally for 2 adults and a highchair an hour before we rang to add an extra adult which was no problem at all. We decided to walk through the fields from Leonard Stanley which is a lovely walk and mostly flat. We arrived 20 mins late but had called ahead and they were very accommodating. The food was amazing we ordered Salmon en croute twice, a carbonara linguine and a kids pizza the salmon was cooked perfectly and paired with a salmon and crayfish mousse and greens. We would definitely recommend this little gem and we will definitely be visiting again!

Sunday lunch was amazing from start to finish. Good hot,tasty home cooked food. I had the beef and hubby had the vegetarian tart. Then pinneapple tart tatin and veggie brownie. Could have ate the whole meal again. Lovely atmosphere in the pub and very nice...

We discovered this gem of a pub when camping nearby. We received great service and were made very welcome. As we had already eaten dinner, we enquired about just ordering a pudding each. "Absolutely you can" was the reply. Great selection of beers and ciders on offer too. We will be back.
