We came here for a Sunday roast and it’s one of the best we’ve had. For starter I had the chilli pork bao buns which were amazing and my fiancée had the chicken liver pate. For main I had the ham roast and my fiancee had the trio but I ended up having the beef as was too much for her both meats were cooked to perfection. For dessert I had the chocolate brownie with honeycomb ice cream and my fiancee had the Manchester tart which was a massive portion. Both meals were very nice and will happily return. Total bill with drinks was £81

I’ve never stayed here but have often called in or met friends here for something to eat. The food is always good and on trend. The service is top notch with the right amount of courtesy and attention. I love that it’s dog friendly, although not a dog owner, I love seeing a friendly face!

A fabulous venue for a business breakfast meeting. 3 of us met up over breakfast for an important meeting and we're well treated. The service was excellent from the welcome at the door to the prompt and efficient staff and importantly the excellent quality good and choice. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who worked well as a team and were polite and obviously well trained. I strongly recommend The Partridge to you.

We had a fantastic stay at The Partridge as a birthday treat for my partner after travelling down from the Scottish Highlands. Neal, the General Manager was an absolute gem and was very kind to accommodate some special requests for our arrival. The room was very generously sized and we slept so well in the HUGE bed. The under floor heating in the bathroom added a little bit of luxury to our walk in shower and I was very happy to be able to sit in front of a mirror and do my hair in the morning which I don’t always find possible when staying in other hotels! Breakfast was absolutely delicious and the quality of the food was fantastic. The young ladies working in the restaurant in the morning were so friendly and polite and checked on us through our meal. We will definitely be returning again to The Partridge for a longer stay, one night wasn’t enough! Thank you to Neal and your lovely team!

We love this pub, it has a very stylish and well maintained Georgian look about it. The car park is large and you can even stay over night if you wish. We love the outside areas; you really do feel as though you are in the country., most relaxing to sit there on a summers day. The inside is very well presented and has a clean, rustic charm. The bar has some interesting not so average choices and the staff are very friendly as was reflected in out welcome greeting. Oh and the Sunday Roast looked amazing!

Hard to imagine you’re less than one mile from Junction 10 of the M56 when you park up here. An ideal place to break your journey either for food and drink or to even stay over for the night. Choice of 3 cask ales plus an extensive, ever changing menu makes this a worthwhile stop off. Look out for the listed stable block in the grounds - currently being renovated.

Walk-in's get treated better at the slaughtered lamb (American Werewolf). Only offered a cramped table not suitable for dining by the arrogant manager despite plenty of available spaces. Had a drink but decided not to bother with the menu yet we were not offered an opportunity to be re-seated or wait at the bar. Irony was that as we walked out tables that were previously empty were still empty and it was only at that point we were offered a different table. Too late at this point, damage done. Stick to the Cat and Lion and Thorn Inn.

On arrival was given an access room, which was not mentioned during the booking! The bathroom was more like a hospital bathroom (wet room, plastic handles and low toilet) which was different to that shown on the website and there was an unpleasant smell in the room. When we asked if we could change rooms the manager told us it was not possible as the hotel was fully booked and all other guests had checked in! However, this wasn’t true, whilst we were deciding what to do we witnessed him check in two other couples. We decided to take the hit and find somewhere else to stay.

Came for a family meal and it was pretty busy the staff were absolutely terrific despite the way they were spoken to in full view of customers. We eat out quite a bit and never have experienced a manager quite like this tall gentleman. The way he barked orders and was quite frankly disrespectful to a few members of the team was awful. He was the only reason our visit wasn’t enjoyable and in my eyes he could learn a thing or two from the younger staff

From the time of booking to the end of our stay we received excellent service from all members of the team and especially from the Manager who welcomed us on a busy Mother’s Day afternoon and showed us to our rooms. We had a nice evening meal and once again staff we all very pleasant. Unfortunately I had been feeling ill prior to arrival and was feeling worse the following morning. The Manager and staff were very understanding and I was allowed to extend check out time by a couple of hours. The housekeeper was also very understanding at this time. My wife and Sister in Law thought that it was a nice touch to receive a colourful plant each during the meal on Mother’s Day. There are three 7.5KW EV chargers at the property for use by guests staying overnight which was also very useful. I would not hesitate in recommending this place for a meal or overnight stay. My sincere thanks go to the Manager and all his staff for being so pleasant and understanding.

A Mothers Day lunch with 4 generations. there was certainly a great selection for lunch and we all ate something different, I had the cheese and onion pie which was delicious, Mum had the lamb, daughter a butterbean and tomato stew, granddaughter had cheese and macaroni, grandson had chicken strips, son in law the steak burger and husband had a turkey dinner and we all enjoyed our chosen dishes with one constructive criticism. The lamb and turkey dinner had too much gravy and would be better with a side gravy boat so you can chose how much you want. The staff are very attentive and we certainly couldn't fault the service and the restaurant had a good ambience along with comfortable seats. Would we return? Yes!!

We were hopeful when we arrived as the restaurant looked lovely and was in a great location. The service however left us feeling disappointed. Left us waiting too long between courses and overcharged us on the children's desserts. Our two children, under the age of 10 chose from the children's menu and when I questioned the cost of the desserts (we had been charged full price and the website advertised children's desserts at a reduced price for a smaller portion) she was quite rude and told me they didn't offer children's desserts. When I told her the website stated otherwise, she said I hadn't told her we wanted children's portions. Really poor given they are children and had ordered from the children's menu. I paid the higher amount but left feeling really let down by the service received and would put us off returning.

Ong the absolute worst meal I have ever had, three of us had the roast from the festive menu all the veg was so burnt as it had obviously been kept warm for hours it was inedible everything was buried under the turkey and smothered in far too much sticky gloopy salty gravy obviously to hide what was actually being served, nobody came over to ask if everything was ok The service on drinks was very slow yet the pub wasn’t busy at all Unbelievably awful food and presentation of starters as well with very minimal effort or pride from kitchen staff who obviously don’t care what they are sending out Just avoid as there are a lot nicer places to eat in this area especially for the prices that we paid as it’s not cheap It’s such a shame as it’s a lovely pub but they really need to do something about their kitchen staff I definitely won’t eat here again Had to give 1 star but would give 0 if I could

We had arranged to meet and take friends from the southeast staying at the Park royal hotel out for a local dinner. The Partridge looked ideal on its web page. We appreciated being Sunday it had a reduced menu, however we were happy there would be a reasonable choice. We were given the menu's but when we tried to order virtually everything was unavailable. We were left with little choice and ordered 3 roast beef and a fish and chips. ( sorry we have run out of mushy peas ) When delivering the meals to the table the young waitress poured our male guests gravy over his shirt and trousers and some of his dinner onto the table. He was left to put it back on the plate when we asked her to get a wet cloth. No one came over to apologise or assist. When we tried to eat our roasts they were inedible!! The meat was only good for shoe leather and full of gristle whilst the Yorkshire's had dried to a crisp. The food had obviously been prepared much earlier and kept hot. Our poor friend's wife was left eating her fish and chips on her own and left most of it as a result. Nobody approached us to ask if the meals were okay so I attracted the waitress's attention and told her the roasts were inedible. She apologised and took the plates away. We were not offered any substitutions but another member of staff came over some time after and said we would not be charged for the roasts. We were left starving but not for long as the pub was closing at 10pm and we were asked to settle the bill. The pub had obviously had busy day but there is no excuse for this level of service. Tip avoid Sunday evenings.

We ventured out on this very wet October evening with good friends we hadn’t see for a while. We were given a warm welcome, and there was a nice pub atmosphere despite being a bit quiet (most sensible people had stayed home!). We had snack nibbles to start, pork Bon bons the highlight! Three of us had pies from the specials menu and one the pork belly. It was all delicious, everyone v happy with their mains. My cheese and onion pie had Crusty pastry, fresh greens with a bite, tasty Lyonese potatoes. My husband had the steak & Ale pie and loved it. We finished off with Affogatos all round, not on the menu but the staff were v sweet, happy to make them for us and they were yummy. The meal was about £55 a head, including quite a few drinks and a tip, average for a good meal these days and we felt good value for our evening as a whole. Stayed at The Partridge overnight whilst away with work. As per other reviews, the Team on site could not be faulted in any way - friendly, helpful and attentive. Many of the Team are young, but certainly demonstrate outstanding customer service. Such a refreshing change from a lot of places where the customer service is a forgotten art! The food in the restaurant is just astoundingly good! I cannot remember eating out and having a superb starter, magnificent main and delightful dessert. Nothing and I mean nothing could be faulted. I had the jackfruit taco to start which was spicy and full of flavour; the cheese and onion pie that was very tasty and churros which were divine. Prices were very reasonable and I would have been happy even if I'd paid much, much more. Don't go here for Sunday lunch if you're vegetarian or vegan unless you have a very small appetite! I work in hospitality & so I work every Sunday usually but as I had a weekend off decided to go out for Sunday lunch with my family & was really looking forward to it. I was so disappointed. £16 for a piece of cauliflower, 4 small roast potatoes, 2 pieces of broccoli & a tiny bit of cabbage. The difference from my plate to my families portion size was appalling. I actually finished my food fifteen minutes before anyone else in my party. Poor attempt at a vegan roast dinner! In the absence of things that I can't have e.g. the Yorkshire pudding & other bits they could have at least put some extra veg or a few more roast potatoes on there to make it a similar portion size to the meat roasts. I actually stopped off at the pub I work at on the way home for a drink & the chef made me some food. The staff seemed nice but service was generally slow considering it was half empty. Not much urgency.

I have frequented the Horseshoe, Croft, on a number of occasions. On entering you may be forgiven for thinking that you have fallen through a time warp and gone back in time. Textured walls, high picture rails with plates balanced precariously, sixties style chandeliers (no bulbs) and that smell of a real pub which can only be achieved after years of beer being spilled on the Axminister carpet. If you enter from the front you are met by a low ceiling with olde world beams. To the left there is a paneled room and ahead a small bar. I always enter from the rear, as is my want, and I am, usually, greeted by four or five regulars, sitting at the bar like a Grumble Weeds Reunion. All give a welcoming grunt before carrying on complaining about things like life, body parts which are causing them pain or the price of cumquats in Aldi. The food is tasty and wholesome and there is a good choice on the menu. However, if you are a regular ‘Eater’ I don’t suppose it would take you long to tick all of the dishes off. They tell me that the squirrel in aspic is a ‘Must Have’. As far as the staff are concerned, I cannot speak highly enough of them. All very enthusiastic and helpful and willing to give a candid opinion on your choice of food. Likewise, the bar staff are extremely amiable, and I would like to give a particular shout out to Hannah whose smile lights up the room and who runs a very tight ship. There is a good selection of beers and other refreshing, fizzy, beverages and a cask ale. All in all a great little place, good food, good beer, great staff and a welcoming atmosphere. Unless, of course, you bump in to Peruvian Pete, the three fingered Poker Dealer from Wigan.

Gem of a place! Gorgeous view, nice beer, busy the last time we went and a bit of a queue for the bar but not a surprise really as it's perfect for a sunny day!
