The Park Crescent in Brighton and Hove

Went down for a roast and absolutely blown away by how good it was. Friendly staff who were great from when I booked on the phone all the way through to paying up. Food was absolutely delicious - the best I’ve had in Brighton by a long way. I’ve also been coming to this pub for a long time now so I know what it is like inside and I’ve always thought it one of the better traditional pubs in Brighton. If anything they have made it better-with stylish, comfy chairs and lots of room. To boot-sensibly priced too. Can’t recommend it more highly.

It was OK. Not sure about the landlord using it as his front room. He took up a whole section with his partner and two toddlers. (Especially as he wasn't working and it got fairly busy). The Toddlers crawling about the floor and going behind bar. Not sure if I was more concerned with that or that it wasn't the cleanest with them to being on their all fours. I thought a bit overpriced, 6.50 for a midranged beer. Can't judge food as didn't have any although was looking for some nibbles, nothing really that could be described as any (or the couple that were there, were ,in my opinion, over priced so didn't order any. I think it was about £5-9 for a portion of chips? £15 for nachos? ) I think I would want a bit more of a professional approach rather than an extension of the managers/owners front room. I Don't know, maybe I'm being a bit harsh......... It did have an OK atmosphere with a good mix of age ranges and people. Friendly enough and efficient service. It was OK.

Lovely pub with a good beer selection and a fab Sunday roast. Came here as a group of 5 - we had the smoked chicken and slow cooked pork roasts. Everyone was full to the brim and very satisfied. Highly recommend 👌

Excellent birthday meal with family- we preordered a delicious tomahawk steak, cooked perfectly and accompanied by delicious sides- nachos, corn, slaw and chips. Recommend fried pickles, a must have! Great ambience with cosy fire! Highly recommend

A pub in a residential street will not have the busy atmosphere you'd expect from the likes of pubs in the lanes, but that won't distract from a seriously great experience. With friendly staff and great food, it's more than worth a visit if you're in the area.

It was the weekend before the Labour Party Conference, and Mr. Corbyn had finished speaking at a local rally about 15 minutes before we arrived, so the bar was packed. As my wife and I desperate for a snack, we considered ourselves very lucky to get a small table to ourselves. Great beer, but the food, pork croquettes (or were they rissoles?) and scotch egg were a little on the expensive side. Tasty, though. Despite being very busy, service was surprisingly efficient, the bar staff being very precise about who had arrived at the bar in what order.

Fantastic food. Amongst our party, which included an eleven year old, a teenager and several adults we had burgers, ribs and steak along with several delicious side orders (fantastic corn on the cob) We all loved what we had and sat in the garden; sunny but plenty of umbrellas. Nice wine at a good price. So glad we found this place.

I must say I was pleasantly surprised with the food. I had the calamari which was lovely baby squid. We also had the whitebait, smash burger and mac n cheese. It was a really lovely meal and staff were friendly. I will definitely be going back again.

Absolutely amazing place to go to the lovely bar man Fin is the best bartender I have ever had and I highly recommend this venue just because he was so welcoming and wonderful!! 12/10 stars would recommend!! The pork belly must be one of the best roasts in Brighton! Aranchini balls & Mac n Cheese were good too.

It was a busy Saturday evening, it was very busy had to wait but that’s expected, food was nice and fresh so all was good. Just the Manager (I presumed it was the manager a gentleman in a short and trouser) spoke to the staff quite abruptly especially a young lad that was working really hard it’s wasn’t pleasant for customers to see if I’m honest.

Step. A device for ensuring that I exit a pub horizontally rather than vertically. And after only a pint and a half of Harvey's best. Alas I seem to be a bit liable to these sort of incidents these days. No damage, and the landlord was a real sweetie for picking me up and sitting me inside for a moment to recover. No damage since you ask. Five stars to the pub for having such a nice landlord. The Harvey's was good too. I will be back!

Brilliant little traditional Victorian pub, tucked away off the main street. Super friendly and best prices locally. Great decor, cute beer garden but unfortunately the heaters have been removed. Dog friendly too.

We had visited Nessa’s kitchen at this lovely pub a couple of weeks ago and were so impressed with the quality of the food when my partner’s family came to visit from overseas we had to take them there! Absolutely STUNNING! We opted for two of the charcuterie platters to start with which were perfect size and beautifully presented. Three of the four ordered from the specials board, Jerk Chicken, Ox cheeks and a goat curry while I opted for a classic bangers and mash. All of which were a true delight. Amazing, rich flavours and more than sufficient portion sizes. They were extremely impressed, as were we again! Will definitely be back and you should too! Thanks Ness!

I went for a meal with my partner and was surprised with this fabulous meal - lamb kofta... 🤤 Rich flavours and a great combination of textures, I share a picture as they speak louder than words. Such a lovely evening 😊 to repeat soon for sure!

Went back to the Park Crescent after a long absence to see if things had improved... Unfortunately the great bartender that was there last time was gone and the grumpy manager was still there, but I've given them one more rating. this time as I got the sense he was trying not to be as unhelpful as last time... pretty grumpy still tbh though...

The new guy behind the bar has been brilliant on our last view visits - goes out of his way to help us and make us feel welcome. Unfortunately when the manager appears the atmosphere changes - you can feel the staff tense up and this is reflected in the service... he obviously needs a new challenge someplace else. We'd love to come all the time and the new guy makes us wish we could but it's a shame that his hard work is ruined by the one individual.

Went for a Sunday roast. My friend had walked past on a few occasions and wanted to try this place. We actually tried a couple of other places first, but they were closed. So glad that they were. Greeted by lovely welcoming staff, ambiance was great. Service & food brilliant. I will make this my regular Sunday lunch spot when I'm in Brighton.

Had a short break in Brighton last weekend and our daughter was told about this pub and had booked 6 of us in for Sunday Roast Dinner. After placing our order we had to wait nearly an hour for it to arrive at our table,(they were busy) but the wait was well worth it. Wow, what a Sunday Roast, Beef, Roast Potatoes, Carrots, Parsnips, Broccoli, Leeks, Yorkshire pudding and because of the wait they brought us a side dish of Cauliflower Cheese (my favourite) all covered in gravy but not soaked like in some places I can mention. For a change one could actually TASTE each of the vegetables individually. If we ever go to Brighton again, this is one place we will visit again, most definately.

Popped in for a pint and a wee drop of whisky. Nice and clean outside, with tables well presented and of good quality. Waitress came over and very well equipped with card machines etc so no messing about. Drinks were ordered and brought out quickly. Good pint, plenty of options. Whisky was of good quality. Can’t fault it for a beer, good value prices. check it out

Ahora AMO el Park Crescent. Sinceramente lo hago. Han acertado la decoración. Han "hecho más" su jardín. . . se ve fabuloso Los inodoros están limpios (por extraño que me parezca cada vez más importante cuanto más me acerco a los cuarenta y tantos). El personal del bar es muy amable. Realmente adorable. Todos nosotros estábamos contentos con las opciones de bebidas.Sólo tuvimos dos problemas. La comida fue un poco decepcionante. Estaba feliz con la mía, pero dos miembros de nuestro grupo tenían burbujas y chillidos. Creo que la frase que uno de ellos usaba era 'demasiada burbuja'. . . Y no basta de chirriar '. I was in Brighton on business and as it was a sunny Friday afternoon we wanted somewhere where we could grab some easy food and a beer to mull over our work.The Park Crescent was a great find - a lovely beer garden for about 30 people out the back to enjoy the sun in (a great midday suntrap too); some excellent beers on tap and better than average pub grub.A good place to go to get off the main front and relax with friends or do some business.

I came to this pub for the first time tonight for their new Monday Persian Pop-Ups meal. It was delicious from starter to dessert. Highly recommended!

Un pub de Hall & Woodhouse, nunca fue un buen comienzo para mí, pero en realidad encontré una cerveza decente, Pickled Partridge (por lo general, un nombre descuidado de H & W), por lo que es un buen comienzo. I visited this afternoon as I needed a quick bite to eat and this excellent pub had been recommended to me by a friend. I can't believe that having worked in the area for over 5 years that I'd never discovered it myself! A great variety of beer and ale and a good selection to choose from on the food menu.

eat here twice over the weekend, fantastic burger and homemade chips, if you're in the area call in, you won't be disappointed

Es un pub bien merece una visita. Fuimos el sábado, cuando la mayoría de los pubs estaban llenos de multitudes de fútbol. Pero El Crescent está en una ubicación muy céntrica pero tranquila. Buen ambiente, la cerveza era de primera clase y muy bien cuidado. Muy buena comida y buena relación calidad-precio. La falta de personal en nuestra visita pero aún así cuidado de forma eficiente y con una sonrisa alegre. Vale la pena una visita - jardín de cerveza!

Fuimos para comer el domingo. Gran elección, magníficamente preparado. Nuevo chef está haciendo una gran diferencia a este pub local. Sin duda volveremos

you could be forgiven thinking you had left brighton. in a town know for its amazing food and beer, this establishment is riding on the fact that locals may be reluctant to go further afield. If you live close and can't be asked, this is a place for you. on the other hand, if you like tasty quality food and a great selection of beer, best keep moving along. shame they let the team down.

I am a regular customer with friends. Staff has always been great and helpful. Drinks are not expensive and have many options to choose.

Have visited this charming pub on two occasions now and each time had their very tasty huge portioned roast dinners. What can I say apart from wow!!!! Really good food lovely atmosphere perfect for families, young and old. Pat on the back for the chefs wonderful food thank you.

Just had a fantastic meal with the family, fresh yorkie crisoy potatoes and home made gravy. I was very suprised by the amount of beef we got as well i genuinely struggled to finish it all. Staff were friendly and the food was delivered by the chefs with a smile will be recommending to my friends and visiting again. YUM YUM

Myself and my partner visited here on a Saturday night for the first time recently and only had drinks, although we noticed that there seemed to be a fair amount of food going out to the tables.After a few drinks we decided we would return at some point for food.We returned on a Thursday evening and both chose the fish (haddock) and chips. Faultless pub grub. Lightly beer battered tasty fried fish, nice chips, peas and tartare to compliment it. The chef even brings your food out which, to me, means he is proud of his work, and he should be from what we sampled.Can't understand the reviews regarding rude staff as on both occasions the staff have been chatty and friendly.The drinks are also resonably priced by brighton standards.Will return for drinks/food.Cheers.

I was visiting yesterday seeing old friends for a roast dinner. The rudeness of the bloke behind the bar and the incompetence in not bringing my meal out with the other 5 leaving me to wait 15 minutes while my friends felt awkward tucking in was almoast a day spoiler. When I asked the bloke behind the bar when I could expect my meal he said "that it was something I should take up with the kitchen. I could go in the kitchen and cook it myself if I wanted, " while he chuckled at his misplaced humour. I was incredulous at his arrogance and it seems that the kitchen and the bar/service are not working as a team. It was after all the bar staff that took my order and presumably didn't take it out to them.They also managed to forget about 2 teas my friends ordered after the meal and the same man told them made excuses about them not being written on a ticket. Just after he wouldn't even let my friend off of 20pence for the price of a cordial when he was short on change. We didn't even have comfortable tables, just 4 small circular ones in a line with stools. I have no idea why this place was busy!The food was reasonable and the veg were nicely cooked although the roast potatoes were not crispy due to sitting around for a long time and the lamb I had was overcooked. For £12 a plate I expect much better.I will be telling my friends in Brighton to avoid this place like the plague although it could be greatly improved by a change of bar staff.

Heaving on a Sunday, with most tables reserved (it's a PUB not a restaurant ). New menu in place, with very few details. Meat portions looked fair, the veggie roast was ok but far too much stodge and not enough choice of veg. The rediculous pre booked tables in a pub means it's difficult to eat without rushing, or leaving it still last orders. Popped back in the week, to see full menu ( only xmas available, in November!) to be greeted with the pubs biggest downfall, surly staff. If you don't want to be around people, don't work in a pub! Under breath comments were more of stage whisper. Rude and offensive.We will do you the favour you want, and will not return, and neither will our friends.

Diner with two others on a Saturday lunch recently having recently moved to the area.Of all the pubs we have visited in Brighton during our short time here this place has to be the worst.Under staffed, very dusty and dirty surroundings and the food arrived undercooked (fish) - sent back only to arrived dry and overcooked. Very poor.The Peroni on draught I found to be expensive at £5.25 a pint.We won't visit again.This place is being to be brought and turned into a decent gastro place! Please..someone!

I had a meal in here with my friend and our two children. ~Firstly, the bar staff were rude, unhelpful and seemed like they wanted to be somewhere else, no interest in the customer at all. The food is expensive and the menu limited. We ordered burgers and fish and chips, which all arrived on pretentious and unhygienic wooden boards with the chips in a kind of tin bucket. Whats wrong with a plate?! The food was ok, but not worth the price. We were not given enough cutlery or asked if we wanted salt/pepper/sauces and had to keep getting up to ask the staff for what we needed. At no point were we asked if the food was ok either, even when the plates (boards) were collected at the end with quite a lot of food left on them. Wont be going back!

This beautiful, tucked away little pub, does large Sunday roasts with all the trimmings, even buffalo and kangaroo is on offer! My nut roast had whole nuts in it, very yummy. The walled garden has had lots of love, the same as the interior of the pub. We where there eating early and sooo needed a walk after we filled our bellies.We will differently go back for a play on the pin ball machine and more yummy food.

Stopped off for a drink and decided to try the food in the park crescent. The steaks were cooked perfectly and we will be going back on their next steak night

Hadn't eaten here for a while but was impressed by the roast and relaxed atmosphere. We had a caravan of buggies and were accommodated well, thankfully after reading other reviews. We all enjoyed our food, veggies included as were 3 option and was to a high standard. With leffe on tap and a good wine choice we all left full and satisfied. Thank you to all the staff for a lovely afternoon.

I come here often and I wrote a rave review but now after my third disappointing visit I have to re review. The staff are lovely but I was served the wrong food again. 3rd time in 3 visits. There was lots of children and dogs and I turned a blind eye as I was expecting my favorite food to be served then it wasnt. I was offered a recook but my friends were already happy eating. I wasn't offered a round of drinks or anything. Im dissappointed and won't be coming here so often. A real shame

I love this place! I have eaten here many times,and it just keeps getting better. The sunday roast is the best I've found in Brighton,hands down,but get in early-ish , or pre book as they go quickly,and the pub is always busy on Sunday with people wanting to eat. Specials are changed frequently,so nice to go somewhere where there is always a new option,and I know they also do veggie and vegan options. I am a particularly fussy about meat,I do not like it to be over-cooked,and on the many times I have had steak,or roasts here,it has been perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. They also serve many bar snacks,which frankly,get better and better , then newest addition,which I'm slightly addicted to,is a whole roast camambert,served with homemade,freshly baked breads,and homemade chutney/confit...its heaven on a plate,and perfect for sharing with friends! My partner is in love with the whitebait , but even more in love with the homemade tartare sauce they serve,so impressed he actually asked the chefs if he could buy some! I honestly can't fault the food,the pub,or the staff,and have only delayed posting a review because I don't want everyone else finding this little gem of a pub!

Landing on steak night (accompanied by a live band), my attention turned to another new addition in the menu..... Double smoked pulled pork burger!It would be rude not to befriend a new arrival, so there it was. I think a beautiful friendship has begun this evening, may we share may an evening in future, together with a pot of smokey paprika Mayo. The new owner Katerina, the wonderful bar staff and the amazing food produced by Ania, Liv and Joe is fantastic.The pub and garden is the best it has been in the 6 years we have been visiting and keeps getting better.

I am a real stickler for a roast dinner and am sad enough to mark my roasts out of ten from pub to pub. I have just had my first ten out of ten!Had the roast beef with all the trimmings, great portion size and amazingly tasty, can't fault it at all! Amazing! Also had a sneak taste of the pulled pork which is also amazing and will be next weeks choice as I'm defo coming back for more! Well done to Ania and co in the kitchen and a massive big up to Katarina the landlady, the pub and food are great!

Food is always a treat here during the week. They do a popular burger night on the Monday which is excellent and a steak night on the Wednesday (2x steaks & a bottle of wine for £25). Always happy with the service and friendly chefs.

I thought I had found a pub selling 'rare' roast beef at last. (This was how it was advertised). Alas, the same old Brake Bros bacon slicered well done roast beef. Tough! I'll keep looking!

I have to say that I really do like drinking at the The Park Crescent pub. Hidden down upper lewes away, its tucked between a foray of houses and flats and is just charming. Its personal and charming and has a brilliant outside area. Whether you are looking for a bite to eat, or are meeting friends for drinks, this amazing pub should not be missed. A true GEM!

We met some friends in here for Sunday lunch. They have just moved to this area of Brighton, so this is one of their haunts. I was very pleasantly surprised by the experience. The service was quick, the food was tasty, the staff were friendly. I think there were one or two new staff members behind the bar being trained, but it still didn't deter from our positive experience. We sat outside, which was very pleasant with it being sunny, but there is also plenty of room inside. I would certainly come back.

Ok, lets start by clearing up; not all can do a good Sunday Roast, no matter what they say. But there are a couple in the Brighton area that do and this is one.We had the Pork Belly and it was think and well cooked and the crackling was top. The veg was nicely cooked and not soggy and the roasties were plentiful. (We did arrive mid Sunday afternoon so maybe they had spare), be that as it may, we were very happy with the meal.The landlords, husband and wife team were good, especially the landlady who had a Germanic sense of humour.there is a nice selection of beers too. and the over price was good for Brighton.Go for it..

Worst Yorkshire puddings ever. Cooked in old oil, I had to spit mine out it was so bad. The lamb was lovely though, and the rest average. Not sure if the bar woman passed on our message to the kitchen, but I would have expected an apology, which we didn't get. Real shame...

After fantastic previous visits we went to this pub today for sunday lunch..what a mistake. The bar staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. The food was not up to scratch. My husbands lamb shank was tasteless and my vege roast was uninspiring. This pub used to cater for families but their was no baby change or high chairs available. The only good thing about the visit was a very friendly server from the kitchen who made us feel welcome. We left feeling very disappointing with our experience and won't be returning.

A hidden gem of a pub. Excellent food all week and the roast is amazing. Great value for money! I lived the home coked food and have been back 5 times. Give it a go. It really is lovely.
