If you're looking for excellent seafood by the beach, this is the place. Generous portions, friendly staff, excellent food and not overpriced, this place was a dream!! Cannot recommend enough! The chips were perfect 👌

I’ve been living in Brighton for over 30 years and I’ve only recently discovered this place and I love it. The staff are lovely, but it’s the roof top terrace that smashes it! It’s not always open, but when it is it’s fabulous. The views are uninterrupted by railings and there’s shade under the big parasols. You can also enjoy the music from the Brighton Music Hall without it ruining your conversation… it’s just perfect!

A small cafe located right on the beach. It has a beautiful terrace, where it is nice to sit on a sunny day. I didn't stay long, I drank a cider at their place and continued my walk. Personal OK. You can pay by card.

We had a lunch stop here whilst walking Brighton Promenade. Our children had fish and chips which were nice. We both had baguettes which were really quite dry and stale at the ends. For the price I’d expect fresh bread at least. Left feeling disappointed.

Lovely spot right on the seafront, amazing roof terrace and good sized portion food and service with a smile! Great summer location for a nice drink right by the sea 🍻

This spot has a fantastic location, there is seating on ground level but we sat on the balcony with great views of the sea, the staff were fantastic and the food was great!!! We had the pan fried cod!! And shared a greek salad!! We had our fur babies with us and they very quickly gave us water bowls for them!! We had such a lovely afternoon there and have re booked for all our friends to lunch again, a must to go if you are in brighton !!! Thank you guys for looking after us

Worth a stop off! Nice food, drinks not cheap but average for the seafront. Friendly front of house staff 10/10.

I can say the shrimps were soooooo fresh and tasty 🤤 , that I could lik my fingers off. The freshiest shrimps I ever had. The chef has done it! I had shrimps and pint of bear, total it was £14.75

A wonderful seaside spot with terrific food, excellent drinks, and an amazing staff. As a visitor from the US I felt right at home. Try the Salmon! Amazing!

Awesome food…a beautifully cooked whole sea bass in a lemon and butter sauce….accomp@nied by a dish of the most delicious home made tartar sauce! This was high end restaurant food cooked with skill and care…but….only £18.00….incredible…we will return

My partner and I were spending a day at the beach and decided to stop for something to eat. I ordered a cheese and ham omelette and extra chips so we could share. The omelette was absolutely delicious and couldn't be faulted. Really enjoyed our little stop.

As the name would suggest this café is located below the seawall on the edge of the beach. We sat outside on a sunny day and enjoyed two glasses of surprisingly good quality wine for a reasonable price. We expected the menu would just be fish and chips but it was more sophisticated and the food looked to be of good quality.

Very average Service and food. The seafood platter has been bumped up with jacobs crackers and flavourless dips.

We had cod n chips and they were nice but the fish wasn't that big considering we paid £14 each.

After reading reviews on trip advisor we popped by here for some lunch by the sea….I ordered some prawns with garlic mayo dip, my husband had the scampi and our two daughters had toasties which came to £57. When the prawns arrived they were covered in eggs and looked dirty- I tried one and was completely put off by the mess the eggs etc made, they just turned to slush. (I have had fresh prawns many times but never like this). My husband tried one and it completely put him off his food too, so he went to ask if this is how they usually serve them. His response from the member of staff was “it’s how they are caught sometimes and yeah I don’t like them like that either” there was no offer for a change of meal or partial refund as we literally ate nothing! I will not return here again out of principle. no customer service skills or manners and such a waste of money.

Amazing food - didn’t want lunch to end. I had sea bass and a colleague had skate, both excellent. Very welcoming staff and a lovely setting. Perfect!

Excellent lunch yesterday and made better by friendliness of the establishment personnel. Really enjoyed couple of drinks (with a bit of sun) and quality home made burger / chips and scampi / chips. Will return for sure.

A nice spot for a few drinks, service was fine and the ambiance nice for Saturday lunch drinks.

Terrible service. Rude people. I was told to wait for 15 minutes as they did not accept orders, after 15 minutes I was told to stay in a queue again with the possibility that they will stop accepting orders again. Do not recommend at all. There are plenty of other much better places around.

WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND - I came to Cafe De La Mer over the bank holiday weekend and it exceeded all my expectations. We had a mixture of food: fish and chips, mackerel with salad, salt and pepper squid and calamari and chips. The food came to us quickly and all of it was incredible - not one thing let it down. On top of this, the food and drinks were reasonably priced especially due to the location. The location of the bar could not be better - it is on brighton seafront which means you can eat your fish and chips whilst looking at the sea and both piers. The staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble with them. I cannot wait to visit again later in the summer, especially when their roof terrace is finished!

I went to this gorgeous cafe on the seafront today and I’m so glad I ordered what I did-a haloumi burger and chips and a pink martini. Just amazing..succulent, garlicky burger with soft brioche bun, perfect chips and the nicest cocktail. Definitely going back ❤️

Fabulous place to enjoy a drink or two and watch the world go by, decent prices for food and helpful and friendly staff. A great spot to enjoy Brighton Beach.

Fast friendly service, good prices and lovely food and very decent drinks, also well priced. I had the halloumi burger which was amazing! Many chefs manage to turn halloumi into slices of rubber, but not this one! Perfectly cooked and serviced with lovely fresh salad and just the right amount of lovely tasting dressing. And only £7. Chips extra at £3 but I liked being able to choose if I wanted chips or not! My partner had fish and chips which was also really well done, with a crisp tasty batter and perfectly cooked fish. We will definitely return for another meal and I suspect I will have the halloumi burger again as it was fandabbydozy! PS Dogs also welcome which is great. We didn’t have our dog with us but knowing he could come was a bonus.

Un lieu inattendu , ou l'on parle Français ( pas essentiel mais un petit plus quand même) , excellent service, excellent repas au bord de la mer ! Visite courtoise des mouettes , un excellent souvenir !! A recommander pour déguster le meilleur Fish and chips !! Bravo à vous !!

Absolutely fantastic little bar/cafe right on the beach our lovely little server Lara looked after us for afternoon food looked amazing coming out drinks extremely reasonable for beach front can’t rate this place enough. Don’t change a thing perfect as it is xxx

This is a lovely place to sit by the sea. Next to the beach volleyball court and you can here the live music from the place next door. My only grumble was it cost me £6 for a pint on lager when only 2 days earlier it was £5.50. Bit steep i thought pricel wise however im sure it is comparanle to other places. You do get served quickly which is a bonus

It was hard to finda a clean table, service a little bit unfriendly, the food was OK but very small portion for a starter, 2 sardines and 4 tiny prawn tempura. Tasty but disappointing overall.

low quality food. We had a family lunch, waiting time roughly 40 minutes, the nuggets were still cold inside, definitely were frozen. Calamari, you can’t even taste because of too much fried oil. Very bad experience, never again!

Visited just for drinks. Ordered first round at the bar, 1 pint of Stella and 1 glass of white wine (175ml) and paid £9.90. Ordered second round at the bar (same drinks) but didn't check the amount (my mistake). Used contactless and sat back down....

If you are looking for something a bit healthier, certainly the best spot to eat on the promenade. Lost the count how many times I ate their grilled sardines : ) There is also an a la fresco upstairs area with a better vantage point to enjoy the horizon and the crowd below.

Great friendly service! Prices were reasonable. Had an ice cold beer and a burger. The best vegetarian burger I have ever had! We had a takeaway service with food and drinks and wandered across to sit and watch the sea. Marvellous! Thank you🙂

We got some haloumi burger. Out of this world. 5 quid as well! For the taste combo of horse radish and mustard with perfectly cooked haloumi it’s the sort of burger you’d expect at a posh restaurant for around 3 times the wonga! Nice stuff...

Cafe/ Bar De La Mer was a nice place to sit on a busy hot summer's day. I didn't consumer food here but had drinks at £5 per pint (London prices). There was plenty of outdoor seating available. Recommend a visit if in Town.

Foods good, service is great and the setting and views are awesome, if the weather is on your side it's a perfect place to stop off for a beer and a bite to eat.

Ordered halloumi salad and paid £12 so i thought is gonna be really nice. Big mistake! You shouldn't charge people £12 for 4 pieces of tomatoes and cucumber. Such a shame. And your staff need to be trained better in service. Grumpy young guy behind the bar.

Lovely cafe / bar / restaurant on the Brighton beach seafront next to the volleyball court and with view on west pier. You can enjoy the view in their roof terrace, where you can enjoy food with drink. Plenty of choice from seafood, fish&chips, grilled sardines& mackerel or just pick some tasty salad.kids menu as well. Only outside sitting.

Very good polite and helpful service. Tasty takeaway fish and chips came in a cardboard box including salad, lemon slice and tartare sauce in a mini paper cup. No polystyrene excellent!

Excellent Beach bar grate place to relax

Have been going here on and off for 10 years. They now have an alcohol licence, good selection of drinks, but pint of IPA at £5.50 is a bit steep, but good service and friendly staff and a great position on the seafront.

Cafe de la mer is my favorite place on the beach. They have great food (loved the pan fried cod & mussels). Nice atmosphere and a great view from the rooftop. De staff is very helpful with anything you need to know about the food...

When the sun shines...with blue SKY'S...All I need is a cold drink...with the sea view. This ticks all boxes... A perfect spot to CHILL & PEOPLE watch. And of course have a few drinks.

Stopped off here for lunch and what a disappointment. I ordered haloumi salad which delivered a very tired plate of lettuce, a few chopped tomatoes and dried up haloumi all for the tidy sum of £12. Definite lack of imagination and effort. Could do better.

Beautiful bar/cafe with lovely, polite and friendly staff, great area, great seating even a terrace, great to watch the sun set with a nice drink/food in a peaceful atmosphere. Even watch some beach volleyball or basket ball. A must visit to this popular venue while in Brighton and on the sea front.

Busy and friendly bar-restaurant in an excellent location...right on the beach near the Palace Pier. But don't worry it's not all outdoors Open all year. Food is fairly simple and very good. The fish and chips are delicious. Can get very busy and there can be a bit of a wait for service at the bar. The staff are hardworking, friendly and helpful.

Absolutely love coming here to eat & relax with the wife & kids... my wife swears by the scampi and calamari & i Iove the fish n chips in beer batter,,,, lots of other great choices , including huge home made burgers that our kids love ,,, the drinks are always nice and cold . Delicious fish dishes - the sea bream melted in the mouth, sardines were chargrilled to perfection and salmon was very tasty. Good wine and reasonable prices. One of the orders was wrong but quickly rectified. Staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely return

Stopped here for lunch on a sunny Saturday. Lovely location on the beach front. Was looking forward to some people watching with a beer. I ordered a BLT sandwich and chips, my wife ordered a cheese and tuna sandwich toasted. Two cheese and tuna's arrived with a small bowl of chips. Explained my order was BLT. 20 mins later my wife had finished, chips gone and my BLT arrives... toasted. Now warm bread and bacon is fine, tomato is ok but lettuce and mayo is not pleasant. The chips were the cheapest catering ones that never crispen. And beer was overpriced at £4.50 for a half pint. Won't return.
