We went along to 64 Degrees for their pasta pop up and it was incredible! We tried 4 different pasta dishes with some delicious side dishes and all were amazing - though hats off to the lasagne! Will be returning to try the taster menu!

Tiny portions of mediocre food for a lot of money. Signature dish, pasta, tasted like watery under seasoned quite bad carbonara. Cod in one of the dishes was overcooked and another dish with fish broth was watery and quite awful. Will never go back. If you want fine dining, go to Etch. Costs almost the same, but quality of food and service is ten levels higher.

A, quite frankly, sensational dinner at 64 Degrees. The tasting menu was brilliantly executed and being sat at in the heart of the action really makes for a wonderful dining experience. The chefs were fantastic and took time to chat and explain the dishes, too. You could feel (and taste) the passion. Personal highlight was the venison and birria taco dish which I can say was one of the best things I've ever eaten. The usual pairing wines weren't available but alternatives were well matched and complimented the dishes. The wine service was a tad slow but the house owned it and made up for it. A wonderful experience. Thank you.

We booked nearly two months in advance to take our friends on what we would call a very special treat at around £500 for the tasting menu with wine for four. We were phoned a couple of hours before our 8:15 pm reservation and asked to arrive 15 minutes late, as a couple were going to be there with their baby and would need more time to eat. It didn't really suit us but we agreed as we didn't want the evening spoilt. We arrived at the later time specified and waited on the rather wet street outside watching the couple and baby by the window very much taking their time. We were then told by the waiter to continue waiting outside for probably another 15 minutes until the couple had eaten their dessert and paid. Any idea that we were valued customers or that this was a special occasion rapidly vanished and we went elsewhere.

When booking a restaurant like 64 degrees having visited it many times over the years I expect the highest level of: 1. Food 2. Service 3. Experience We decided to go for the full experience of food menu plus wine flight to fully embrace 64 degrees and the experience. The food was nice however the service was absolutely terrible. To the point both myself and guest were actually lost for words at how bad it was. The waiter who served us was literally throwing the courses down and attempting to tell us what they were at a speed of 200 mph. It made the whole experience feel very rushed and leaving us completely confused and “on edge”. This same style then repeated across each wine serving. To this day I have no idea what half the wines were as he said them so fast and why they were paired with each course. Later in the night we had a young inexperienced waitress appear who was so timid and kept interrupting mid conversation out of awkwardness of not knowing what to do. We got to the point where we just wanted to leave as the whole flow of our evening had been ruined. The high price tag should come with high quality food, high quality service and an overall high quality experience. We both left feeling highly disappointed and totally confused at how this had happened. We had been really looking forward to the evening.

Delicious tasting menu. 4 of us went, 6 courses. All 4 of us chose a different favourite course. This highlights the quality of all the courses. The favourites: Pasta: luxurious and delicious, gorgeous silky pasta with truffle and their signiture slow cooked egg yolk (at 64°) Pudding: a stunning ginger cake with rhubarb puree, butterscotch sauce and buttermilk ice cream, unbelievably good Mushroom / aubergine dashi: with a bun. I don’t even know how to describe this. The sort of dish that could make you cry with joy. Brassicas: a charred hispi cabbage, miso and a cauliflower puree. Every element delicious. We are not vegetarian, but enjoyed the vegetarian Oktoberfest menu. Absolute bargain for michelin quality food. All staff her attentive and knowledgable about every course.

I was excited to try this little restaurant based on reviews and the photos I saw online. I rarely go for small plate and minimal dishes, but I thought I would give it a go. The restaurant itself is tucked away in the lanes and is really small, but nicely decorated with a neutral clean and minimal decor. The staff were well trained and knew the dishes and wine really well, which is always lovely to experience, rather than "let me find out for you..." In terms of food and value for money, my experience was less ideal. The food isn't bad, but to be honest, I expected more based on the prices. They suggested between 6-8 dishes between 2 people at around £13 per dish. The other option is the set menu at £70 per head. For this kind of pricing, I expected a little more tbh. It seems to me, they are aiming at the fine dining/upper echelon of dining, and silly things like the bathroom having the soap in the sink and not attached to the wall, is just little details I think need to be addressed. I also think maybe a place at the "bar seating"might be a better experience (where you can watch the kitchen activity), might be better than sitting in the way of the door/entrance. I felt like I was in a corridor. So my take away from it was that, while a nice dinner (if a little small in portion) was pleasant, I felt a little underwhelmed having spent £150 on dinner and wine, and still fairly hungry. Glad I have been and experienced it, but wouldn't rush back.

Lost its magic. This place used to be our all time favourite but sadly it seems to have lost most of what we liked about it . The food was ok , which is a shame because we used to say the food was outstanding ! I think this place has struggled to get back to what it was after they stopped the sharing plates and set a ridiculously priced set menu. The sharing plates soon returned but it seems to have gone from outstanding food to kind of average food. The size of the plates have certainly increased but it is not the small fine dinning , blow you over food it used to be. The only dish I would say would be worth having again is the pasta , truffle dish. That dish luckily has always remained and remains to be fantastic. Sadly the other 8 dishes were just ok and for just under £200 I can’t help but feel really disappointed. I really hope this restaurant finds its spot in the market again and the food that used to be so good , returns. Sadly I am not sure after all these years we will.

Stunning - small, intimate and friendly venue with incredible food. We've just eaten 2 nights in a row here and both nights have been unique and incredible. First the food is STUNNING - the best we've had outside London and the usual Michelin haunts. We could go on how the pasta and egg is the best, or the firecracker chicken where we could almost drink the sauce. But take it as read - the food is incredible and Michelin worthy. But importantly is the counterpart. The layout at the top end is like an izakaya, but that creates an atmosphere where you meet the team, you chat and you can see a 'family' at work. Everyone genuinely works together for the good of the team and customers. Michael, the head chef and owner has an eye watching everything, and everything goes out just so. It's this sort of attention to detail that elevates restaurants to the truly great amongst their peers. If you're looking for somewhere that is intimate, romantic, foodie, incredible, caring and just somewhere you'll walk out of and talk about for weeks to everyone, then I'd highly recommend 64 Degrees. Huge shout out to Jamie, the maître d' whose gaze and strength of will sees all and runs front of house like an ice cube on oil - ie. Super smoothly. Thanks team 64, you're amazing.

Nice food and quite reasonably priced for a tasting menu, though we were slightly disappointed that some dishes were served as a sharing platter despite not being that easy to share (e.g. a piece of fish in sauce). The service was very friendly and attentive. It is a small restaurant which is nice but can mean your experience can be heavily influenced by others Sat in your vicinity (e.g. if they are loud and/or onbnoxious). The Restaurent was nice and cosy and the staff friendly. Unfortunately the food was average. Either the dish was and explosion of taste or close to tasteless. Easy tricks of adding lots of umami and taste tornados like miso, chili mayo, egg yolk, truffle left us exhausted after the 5 dishes. On one hand, it taste well, but the balance was off. In the one dish which did not have either of these, namely meatballs in tomato sauce was on the contrary almost tasteless. In short, the dishes are generally ok, but flavor should come from the main ingredients of the receipt and not additives and it was much too much..

Brighton is blessed with an exceptionally high number of restaurants. The city’s large tourist and student populations, though, have shaped most of these in their direction: food that is familiar, brief, and cheap. Fortunately a few restaurants have resisted this shaping, and tonight I ate at one of the very best, 64 Degrees in The Lanes. This is a chef-driven place, very small (4 tables plus a zinc counter seating 14), but it’s a culinary experience, as distinguished from merely somewhere to eat. We sat at the counter, right in front of the tiny kitchen, so the meal was the best kind of participatory theatre. The moment we were seated, the head chef came to greet us — actually all he had to do was turn around to face us, the cooking space is so small. We immediately felt both valued and included. I was accompanied by my two grandchildren, 8 and 11, who despite their age are seasoned and sophisticated diners, and the chef explained the menu, and offered to make any adjustments to suit our needs. With his help we settled on the pasta, chicken, monkfish, miso aubergine and cod schnitzel. A well-meaning server came up behind us to ask whether I wanted plastic cups for the kids’ apple juice. Actually they prefer your best crystal, thank you. We watched with mounting interest as the chef and his assistant prepared and plated our food. Everything was relaxed and friendly. We could tell at once that these are people who love their jobs, which in my book is the most telling sign that you’ve chosen the right place to eat. The food was delicious. Complex interplay of flavours and textures, and all was perfectly balanced. We felt that what we were eating was an extension of the two cooks’ career lifetimes of dedication to getting it right. By the end of the meal we were stuffed, in the very best way. The bill for three was £117, which included the service charge and two glasses of wine for me, so under £35 per person for the food. Given the quality of the meal and the enjoyability of the staff and ambience, I thought it was an absolute bargain. My grandchildren agreed, and my daughter noted later that after I dropped them off at home, they raved about 64 Degrees till bedtime. I give this restaurant my highest recommendation to everyone who cares about food.

We had a reservation at 6pm and arrived promptly at 5.58pm. Upon arrival, we were met with a dismissive attitude from the waitress, who asked us to leave and return in four minutes because they were about to have their team meeting. This was an unprofessional and unwelcoming start to our evening. When we returned and were seated, the music was excessively loud, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. The staff appeared clueless about how to adjust the volume but eventually managed to turn it down after some time. To his credit, the manager did apologise for this. The food, however, was a bigger disappointment. The bread we were served to start was completely raw inside, essentially raw dough. While the waitress acknowledged this and apologised, it set a worrying tone for the rest of the meal. The overall quality of the food was inconsistent: while the lamb was quite nice, other dishes like the asparagus and pork were incredibly average, especially for a restaurant of this supposed standard. The most concerning part however was the manager's response to our feedback. When he inquired about our experience, we candidly shared that it was hit-and-miss, and mentioned the raw bread as a starting point. Instead of taking our feedback constructively, he insisted that the bread was fine because he'd had some himself and it was simply "dense focaccia". His dismissive and defensive attitude was quite off-putting. He sighed loudly and offered us a 25% off voucher for a future visit, but we will not be returning. Our recent experience was far worse compared to our previous visits circa 2018, and (even with a discount), it is now not worth the money. I cannot recommend this restaurant based on the lack of professionalism, inconsistent food quality, and the management's unwillingness to accept genuine feedback. We used to be the biggest advocates for 64 Degrees because the meals we had before were genuinely some of the best meals we've ever had. Unfortunately, our recent visit left us deeply disappointed with what it has become and I would highly recommend you go to one of the many other incredible restaurants in Brighton instead.

My personal pick from the 10 would be the Fresh Pasta with egg yolk and truffle. The terrible rating isn’t for the food, unfortunately we never got the chance to taste anything. All we experienced was rude and entitled members of staff. Table booked for 8, received a voicemail at 19:30 telling me the restaurant was running 15-20 minutes late- no problem, I thought. We arrived at restaurant at 20:20 to see a queue of people, turns out they were waiting for their tables too. It’s tiny inside and cramped, I felt incredibly sorry for the diners who were finishing their meals with people stood all around them. It was awkward and and not a pleasant dining experience. 20:40- we were still not seated, offered no reason or apology so I decided to cancel the reservation, when I told the waiter he became rude, arrogant and entitled- accusing me of telling him how to do his job, moaning he was doing 14hr shift, blaming the planned engineering works. Instead of holding his hands up, admitting it was their fault, he just argued. 64 Degrees was on my restaurant list, such a disappointment- they have clearly got too big for their boots and think they are untouchable. Well they are not! Keep this level of service up and they will go under very quickly. Fortunately, I knew of a little but amazing Spanish restaurant just around the corner who know how to treat customers. One last thing for the head-chef, Michael Bremner- this wouldn’t happen at Etch!

Disappointing experience. Due to the restaurant being very small, tables are sat right in door way, which meant my legs were cold throughout. Perhaps blankets could be supplied? Mentioned to the waiter that my plate was chipped. On changing it he said they were in short supply and £30 per plate. Don't really see the relevance of his comment, especially in a fine dining restaurant. Food was nice but very small portions and nothing to make me recommend or think to give it another try.

64 degrees is a small and quite hidden restaurant, fail to pay attention and you could easily walk past it. Upon entry we were greeted casually by who I assume was the owner, he was discrete, attentive and highly professional. After having our coats taken we were presented with with 2 menus (a la carte and a set menu at £50 per head). We chose the set menu comprising of 9 small courses. We had the option of seating at at conventional tables or at a bar surrounding the kitchen, where it is possible to observe the chefs skillfully and meticulously prepare each dish with artistic flair. What was notable about the menu, for us, was it's diversity and originality. Whilst there was a wait between each dish it was qualified by the care taken to prepare each. We were highly reassured to discover that for the larger part each dish tasted as good as it looked, in fact sometimes even better! It was my birthday and to my surprise, and without fanfare, the management presented us both with a complementary glass of wine selected to compliment our desserts. The 9 courses were served over a period of approximately two and a half hours. We appreciate that excellence can't be rushed and it was our pleasure to watch people work when they are invested in their art. It also helped that the music playing in the background was tasteful and un-encroaching on casual-conversation. We felt that the emphasis of the restaurant was on quality and flavour both of which were successfully delivered with originality and creativity. Personally, I also prefer sober-professionality and care over affectation, if I wanted obsequiousness I'd go to a corporate franchise. The whole experience was one of ardency and conscientiousness. I'll be returning when I can.

Went here for a 10th Anniversary celebration, for which recognition of this milestone was given on arrival. Coincidentally it is also the tenth anniversary of the restaurant as well! What an experience! Superb! We have had the good fortune to dine in many establishments around the world. I can truly say we have never experienced the intimacy of service at “the pass” as we did on this night. Arrived 15 minutes early and offered any seat in the house. Chose the pass and seated within “splash” distance of Chef Bremner! No splashes however but to witness “plating” live was outstanding! Also the to see and hear the instruction/advice given to the upcoming chefs was inspiring! Served by all the chefs with explanations to what was about to be consumed. In all honesty we were hoping for a tasting menu with a wine flight. Advised earlier about a change to “small plates” menu. Do not be put off because this is in essence a tasting menu created by you! The plates are not small but ideal for two to share. I can go into detail about what we had but I don’t have the vocabulary to convey how delicious everything was. Cocktails were properly made with correct proportions erring on the good side of strong! I alluded to not mentioning about the food but being an avid carnivore, I have to mention the mushroom croquettes, WOW!!!! To conclude, one the best experiences to be had, whilst not cooked in nitrogen in outer space and sprinkled in moon dust, it is great wholesome food in an intimate environment, cooked by one of the best Chef’s on the planet! (Who will talk to you as well!) The proof is in the eating of the pudding (excuse the pun), just go and try it!

I have always wanted to come back and I cannot believe that we have left it so long. I came here today with my partner for a surprise treat. And what a treat it was. We decided to go for the set menu/sharing plates at £45pp (plus drinks!). This was amazing value with outstanding dishes, constantly being served up. The food was delicious and of the highest quality but it really was down to the owner, Michael Bremner and all the other staff, including commis chef Carnac and restaurant manager Chris who made the whole experience so unforgettable with their attention to detail. From making one off cocktails to match what we wanted to delivering the best dishes but also explaining all about how they put it together. So for me, being a real foodie, it was fantastic and inspiring. If you want to have a great meal out but also feel like you’re at the theatre, this is definitely the place to visit. We decided to sit at the kitchen bar area where you can watch the chefs and talk to them plus other diners which was a great experience but you could have a table and be more intimate & discrete, if preferred. When i asked for a cheeky selfie with chef/owner (and Great British Menu winner), Michael Bremner, he said for us to come into the kitchen area for a group photo. What an amazing experience and a great guy! I am purely speechless and have no other words. We will not be leaving it so long next time FOR SURE!!! It really is the best restaurant in Brighton. See photos for full experience.

I cancelled this booking with 48 hrs notice but they still kept my £50 deposit . They said it was in the small print that I wouldn’t get a refund . How very tight and mean. You are supposed to be a restaurant with excellent standards , but all I can see is that I’ve been ripped off .

Fantastic food, but a busy Saturday evening with first four course served very quickly, and later courses felt like we had been forgotten. Food was excellent, just too busy for two servers. Maybe someone was out sick?

Phenomenal food in an intimate restaurant with open kitchen. We chose a la carte and particularly enjoyed the hake, but every dish was great. Highly recommend.

Had our reservation with Murmur moved to 64deg which was disappointing, 64o was OK but not a fan of the sharing menu one dish at a time. Food was OK but was a bit cold when the door opened. Service was very good as was the food but probably won't be back as Murmur is much better.

This restaurant are running off previous good reviews, as our experience was no where near what it was cracked up to be. The service was uninspiring and inconsistent. The wine list on their website is nothing at all like their wine list in the restaurant. The food was a joke. Tiny portions of tasteless food claiming to be Michelin star. To be honest I could have cooked most of it myself in my own kitchen. Two of the dishes came with the same side of diced tomatoes. The only good dish was the mushroom croquettes. We didn’t stay for dessert as we couldn’t wait to leave. Over £100 down the drain, and we didn’t even get asked how our meal was. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Daylight robbery.

Really tasty food, excellent service but very expensive considering I only got couple of veggie dishes and a non alcoholic drink. We ended up getting chips elsewhere afterwards.

A nice, if slightly underwhelming, experience. Recently changed to small plates and we thought quality of food did not match up to prices charged. Staff were friendly and atmosphere was nice. We stared with focaccia which was slightly stale (not what you would expect for a fine dining type restaurant). The octopus was nicely flavoured, well presented but over cooked. Pork belly was spot on. The pheasant was slightly undercooked we thought. Cauliflower again was presented and flavoured well but was essentially raw. Although the service was good it felt slightly odd having 3 different waiters as well as each course being delivered by a different chef, one waiter would give a better experience I think. A few improvements here and there and this would be a top restaurant!

Absolutely stunning food in a lovely, cosy yet cool space, in a great part of Brighton. Chef Michael is supremely talented and a gent at the same time. Brilliant value for money in my view. Great staff as well. Anya - front of house. Charming and great knowledge of wine.

This is our second time at the restaurant and it surpassed all expectations. We took our friends who were visiting from Japan and we all had the tasting menu. When we booked, we informed them of allergies and they adapted/changed all dishes to suit me with absolutely no fuss. They asked additional questions to completely understand my requirements and made further adaptations on the evening. All dishes were explained to us at the table, including adaptations. I felt completely reassured and everything was delicious. No hesitation in recommending this restaurant for any special occasion.

A friend and I had a wonderful experience trying out the tasting menu last night at 64 degrees. The food was impeccable, the service was absolutely wonderful and I was thoroughly impressed with the whole experience. The wines they picked for each course really complemented the food - I’ve never been a white wine fan but I was introduced to some beautiful wines which I plan to order for myself at home. I visited with my friend who’s vegan and there were plenty of options for her too. There’s an open feel at the restaurant where you can see the chefs preparing the dishes, and lots of natural light from the window at the front and side of the restaurant. The only areas of improvement - while the food is incredible, I would say the portions in the tasting menu are very small. Even though there are a lot of courses, I wasn’t entirely full when I left and got more food elsewhere later that night. The restaurant has great ambience but as it’s small, they must make sure that the tables are free for future reservations. While this can’t be helped, we did feel a little rushed at the end. But due to the amazing service, we were willing to overlook this. Great service and wonderful experience. I definitely recommend for those who want to come and try the tasting menu. But I’d suggest maybe having some snacks beforehand or after the meal so you are full satiated.

We have visited your Restaurant on many occasions & always look forward to our evening. The service is always excellent and it is such a lovely atmosphere. We did notice, however, on this occasion, that the food portions seemed to be much smaller than we remembered on our previous visits. Appreciate the amazing work that goes into creating the freshly cooked tasty dishes, but just felt we were not getting quite enough on the plates to justify the £85.00 Tasting Menu price. We do love 64 Degrees & that is why we felt the need to give you our feedback. Many thanks

Tucked away in Brightons lanes, your find 64 Degrees. A small, cosy restaurant with a unique menus. The food was packed with flavor, each course of the tasting menu was brought out by their chef's and described to us. Three of us had the meat courses and one the vegaterian . The dishes were varied and unique. I really enjoyed the eel in a squid ink Boa bun served with the most delicious pumpkin soup. My husband had a squab dish as 1 of his choices and said that was his favorite out of the 9 courses. One of the meat choices was wago beef that all three of us chose. This was not so good the meat was very tough not how wago should be.We did let the waitress know and she said she would pass that onto the chef so he was aware. All other courses we could not fault. The atmosphere is great inside as it's only a small restaurant so you can either sit at one of the 3 tables or up at the bar where you watch the chefs cook in front of you. I would recommend this restaurant,if you love food that is presented beautifully, full of flavor and a little unusual. One of Brightons best restaurants.

We chose the tasting menu with the paired wines for an early evening dinner. The quality of the food was superb and original and the presentation was inventive. The service was pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable, particularly about the wine pairings. There were several highlights including a red prawn with elderflower pre-dinner snack, pea and nettle ravioli, and sea trout with nori, sea buckthorn and carrot puree. Every dish was wonderful and we will certainly be back.

I was 1 hr late due to traffic. Phoned and staff happily rescheduled to 8pm instead of 7pm. The staff were very friendly and knew all about each course they delivered. Unbeknownst to me, my dinner partner was allergic to cheese and tomatoes. Chef quite happily changed two dishes to accommodate her. Tasting menus is priced at Michelin Star but wasn't quite Michelin star but certainly on its way to getting there. It's still well worth a visit. I went for a date and would recommend it as an excellent date venue.

Overall, the food was OK. Some of the food hit the right spot, some did not. Service was good. Snack beetroot - The beetroot overpowers everything else, a bit of apple taste towards the end Duck prune - Duck was very tasty Cauliflower soup - The truffle is quite overpowering, although the soup is quite smooth. Bread and butter - Homemade, very moist and melts in your mouth Asparagus - cooked really well, tortellini melts in your mouth and a burst of flavour comes out. The asparagus at the bottom absorbing all the juice very succulent. Octopus - very tasty, mix of carrots and octopus and coriander works really well Cod - Lemon miso was too overpowering and bitter, be very sparing with tasting it with the cod or mussels. Cod melts in your mouth Lamb - Slightly chewy, potato and turnip was very nice. Haggis was a good surprise and a flavour bomb. Rhubarb was nice, the ice cream was a tad too sweet Chocolate made of whey didn't work in my opinion, the taste was off. The ice cream was nice

64 Degrees is superb. The restaurant offers seating in the restaurant area or counter-level dining, where the chefs prepare the food in front of you. The chefs were cool and calm under pressure and the front of house staff were very friendly. The menu changes frequently depending on what is in season and we were even given extra "surprises" that were not on the menu. The food itself was excellent, with each dish being individual, but equally as tasty as the last. My only niggly issue was that the cocktails we ordered did not have any garnish. It would have been nice to see three coffee beans in the espresso martinis and a raspberry in the kir royales. However, they tasted fine and this in no way deters from the wonderful tasting menu - I highly recommend!

Absolutely terrible. We were sold a carnival Cabaret - with aerialist, fun car oval games and the fun atmosphere of the carnival… and in reality we had none of those things. There were two performers who loosely entertained us with a tiny step up from karaoke, burlesque-ish and some comedy. The food arrived cold, and somewhat inedible. Overall don’t bother.
