Called in early after London train, eager to have coffee and use the loo- only to be told couldn't use toilet before having coffee as had to have code- but coffee machine not working anyway. I specifically asked where the other nearest toilets were and was told in the Town Hall. So, not know Reading I bought a tea, as meeting friends in this place anyway, and used toilets accordingly. Later in day, after looking at museum- I saw toilets to side of Reception area! When we meet in Reading again we'll go to one of the dinky cafes nearby and call in separately to see museum.

We popped in just to try it as it was the closest café to us on a showery Saturday afternoon on 23rd March and we fancied a snack. We had the tuna with cucumber baguette and chocolate brownie with tea and coffee. It was all really delicious. As good as we’ve had anywhere else and very reasonably priced. The staff were lovely. It was very friendly, helpful service with a smile. It makes such a difference when the service is this good.

The Pantry is a restaurant adjacent to the Reading, UK museum. It is a very nice place to grab a bite to eat during your visit to the Museum or the area. It is in the same building just on the south side and has its own entrance. It's located a little below ground but has windows at street level that provide a light and airy look. It's like a cozy treasure hidden within the museum. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. You order and pay at the counter and pick up the food when it is ready. The seating area was clean and well-kept. It is nicely appointed with pictures of the 3 B’s that the city is known for: Biscuit, Beer, and Bulbs. The menu offers a nice variety of food options. From sandwiches to salads and tasty treats. The food is not only delicious but also reasonably priced, making it a good choice for a meal or snack. The staff was friendly and helpful, the prices were reasonable and the food was good. Overall the Pantry is a charming place to enjoy a tasty meal or snack either before or after you visit the museum. I enjoyed it and hope you do too.

This place is a hidden gem for lunch in the town centre. Baked (large) potato, loads of tuna, coleslaw, fresh salad, proper butter, plate and cutlery and free water for £6. Bargain. Friendly staff and fast service. Well done.

This place when it opened was great, the menu was full of variety - quiches, salads, pizzas etc. A great variety for those wanting a decent bite. Would have happily recommended to friends. Since the pandemic, menu seems to have changed, it’s reduced vastly and less inspiring. Can’t you bring back your old ways?

Nice coffee but……terrible service. I was at the front of the queue to be served, but 3 members of staff were too busy sorting out a previous customers receipts to notice me. The coffee was brought over to my table after a 10 minute wait ( why can’t we just take it ourselves to our table?). It was black, so I asked for some milk , but was told I hadn’t asked for milk, but then I wasn’t asked at the counter. Somewhat reluctantly a jug of milk was brought over to me. Also, no table number was requested. This is my second visit, the first wasn’t much better. But won’t be returning. A shame, because Reading needs more of these independent cafes.

It is a bright space, comfortable furniture and reasonable coffee and unpretentious food. It is self-service and quiet - none of the hustle and bustle of the chain coffee shops. I can imagine at half term or during school holidays it will be busy, but on a Monday morning, it was an oasis of calm.

Visited barely days after this place opened in October 2019. The pain au chocolate was raw inside and I had to ask for a refund. Another visit today (30 November) was equally abysmal. Husband and I ordered pizza for lunch. The place wasn't busy yet 40 minutes later we were still waiting for our order. Staff were rude, dismissive and went into the kitchen to enquire about our order - but never returned with feedback. We got fed up of waiting, demanded a refund and promptly left. This place is awful and can't service customers correctly. Won't be going back. I classed the first instance as a mistake as they were newly opened but today's incident was proof that the staff in this place can't run a cafe. You have some margin of leeway if it was a basic greasy spoon, but this places charges £10 per pizza - more expensive than some high street chains - so should be provided attentive customer service to match the price tag.

My wife and I had a fantastic experience at Creams in Reading. From the moment we walked in, the staff were warm, friendly, and made us feel genuinely welcome. The service was quick, professional, and added to the overall positive vibe. We started with a savoury option – the BBQ chicken hot pocket – and were pleasantly surprised by how tasty and satisfying it was. Unlike a pie or wrap, it wasn’t heavy or dry, making it a perfect choice to kick off our visit. For dessert, my wife chose the Creams Sundae Royale, which she described as absolutely divine. I went for the Millionaires crepes, which were light, indulgent, and perfectly cooked. To round it all off, I had a hot, full-bodied cappuccino, while my wife enjoyed a thick iced coffee that tasted properly of coffee, not watered down like some places. Overall, the food and service were both top-notch, and we’ll be visiting again. If there’s a small suggestion for the management, perhaps turn up the heating a little, as it was noticeably cold, and it would be to consider updating the furnishings, as they’re starting to look a little worn. But that’s a minor point in what was otherwise a delightful outing.
