We visit The Pantry at least once each week. We are always greeted with a warm welcome by their very friendly staff! We always at least have coffee and cake which is home made and very tasty! On the occasions we do have Food of the menu it has always been presented well and delicious! They have a great menu and always have specials available! Well worth a visit!

Absolutely terrible place to eat. Girlfreind ordered a bacon sandwich (£5.50) wow..... to add insult to injury her stomach has been upset ever since. Old bacon on dry bread UNBUTTERED aswell. If the price didn't kill her the god damn sandwich nearly did! Think we will be making a phone call tomorrow to them. Avoid

Sat inside due to the weather not being great. This could be a little gem if the atmosphere was more welcoming. For example, friendlier staff and nicer, brighter furnishings. The food is a little expensive too. We had bacon sandwiches, which were basically dry, hard rashers of bacon between 2 slices of stale, white bread. They were practically thrown on the table by a miserable woman and we each paid £5.50 plus, whatever we paid for our drinks, for the pleasure. Needless to say, we won't be going back, or recommending it.

We have lived in Elsecar for over ten years and have recently re-discovered this hidden jewel. Now intend to become regular visitors for weekend breakfasts. Great choice of lovely food served with little quirks from an age gone by that certainly fits in to the Heritage Centre. Not necessarily the cheapest but definitely one of if not THE best place in the Elsecar area. A must visit if you are visiting the Heritage Centre.

With what was a terrible day weather wise, I thought id attempt to get out of the house and do some work in a different environment, so I headed to the pantry with my laptop and work book. After ordering my cup of tea I sat down and opened up my laptop and started to do some work. I was on a small table and with my tea, laptop and work book there wasn't much space but as luck would have it there was a woman sat ON HER OWN who had just been reading her book and on a bigger table was just about to leave so I switched over to her table for some extra space. After sitting there working away still with a piping hot cup of tea that I had only taken a few sips of, an older red head lady who had just served me came up and asked me to move saying I was taking up too much space and people wanted to sit down. I was a little shocked as I still had a full cup of tea and didn't know where else to sit as a couple had just sat at my previous table, so I had no choice but to either sit outside which it was freezing or leave my tea, so I upped and left still a little bamboozled. As I left I was expecting to struggle to get out of the door due to the droves of people who were apparently wanting to come in and get a seat, but I was met with some tumbleweed with nobody in the queue and my table still empty. I wouldn't mind but there was a woman opposite my table sat ON HER OWN on a big table and also the room in the other side had two large tables covered with bags of Christmas decorations that nobody could sit at, feel like they just had an agenda against me due to me being younger adult. Probably the worst service I have experienced and will definitely not be going back. It also stank in there as well so maybe invest in some fabreeze. Everybody should just save themselves the trauma and head up to the cafe at Wentworth garden centre, its better food/beverages and the staff up there also know what customer service is.

Lovely breakfast menu ... nothing vegan though so they let me order something from the lunch menu, even though it was before 12. Very busy, and they were short staffed , but polite, efficient and friendly, as always. Outdoor seating was nice in the sunshine, and some seats in the shade too. We've been many times and have always had excellent service

Lovely cafe and surroundings, really nice food, very welcome cuppa and a tasty sandwich but shame about the staff, maybe a off day or tired but not friendly or welcoming at all. We will be going to the pub next time we visit Elsecar.

Having had coffee on arrival at Elsecar Heritage Centre we decided to return for our lunch. The food was hot tasty and quickly served and the quaint setting inside the old house made the atmosphere. Whilst it was a busy day we were still able to have a seat inside and for those who wanted the fresh air outside seating was available.

Been here quite a few times. Coffee & cake breakfast and lunch. Really lovely food . Made to order fresh and homemade. However today my husband after been told to be patient and a previous time told abruptly where to queue said we were leaving before even getting served. I agree to be fair . There's a right and wrong way to speak to people. Made us and others feel uncomfortable. Another couple left too. Shame really but they seem always busy . Won't miss us and there's elsewhere for us to go nearby.

Stopped here for a cuppa after our Elsecar walk. A cold day but the tables were sheltered by an open ended marquee. Tried the lemon drizzle cake to go with the tea and it wasn’t bad.

Great if you like weird music, old Goth music is not for me but if you like that sort of thing. The staff are friendly except for the cook. The breakfast to be fair was good but the toast was anaemic.
