Absolute love this little spot! The food is so fresh and clean, which i find really hard when eating vegan. Plus they sell oatly oat milk which is a win win! Love it

I walked in smiley, optimistic (and starving!) around 2pm on a Friday. There was a nice inviting board outside on the pavement - “come in for homemade savoury, curries , Buddha bowls, cakes, coffee”, and with a smiley face drawn. Well, as I smiled to who I assume is the owner behind the counter, I was greeted with a cold stare and condescending look. When I asked about what main food they have today, she pointed to the board on the wall. No communication. I ordered the beetroot burger, and was a little surprised it came in a cellophane bag like a sandwich. I also ordered a samosa. I saw a staircase and asked if there’s seating upstairs, but was told bluntly no. There were three small tables near the counter. One garden table very close to the counter was the only one free. There was another table against the wall, and I asked her assistant if it’s free. The owner piped up towards her assistant and said someone else is sitting there. Rather than telling me directly. So there I sat very much on show. I could see that the owner was more friendly towards her more regular customers. I really didn’t expect my food to be stone cold. The beetroot burger was quite dry too. I think the rice bowls there are served cold too. From what I could see later, the homemade curry may be kept warm behind the counter. I just wish the lady behind the counter was a bit more polite and friendly and explained to a first-time customer that most of the food is served cold apart from the curry. And letting me know there’s limited seating would have been courteous too. Not much was clear from the outset when you walk in for the first time. I appreciate the other good reviews here, but I seem to have maybe caught her on a bad day. It was a cold setting, cold reception, and cold food. Will not go back.

Fabulous little cafe and food was amazing, we had the coconut Dahl and tried the sweet potato and beetroot burgers -all were very tasty. Home cooked food at its best. The owner was very friendly and I think we cleared her out of food as she was closing early that day. Will definitely be returning!

Yesterday I popped in for a coffee and to pick up some dinner in the afternoon to break up my shopping trip. It was a lovely coconut latte. I love the food here, it is really tasty and homemade. Last time I had the curry which was perfect (not too spicy and full of flavour). This time round picked up 2 sweet potato burgers, samosas and cakes. They had other tempting things on the menu like flat breads with avocados which they had sold out of. The pantry earns extra points with me because all of their plastic is recyclable. Excellent if you are vegan as all of their offerings are vegan. Non vegans should also pop along as it is really good food in a relaxed setting.

Lovely setting in ‘The Lanes’ with a very nice design making you feel like you’re in a modern but homely, family run place to eat. The owners were really nice and offered plenty of options to us. The homemade samosas were tasty but we didn’t feel the drinks were very good. They were extremely watery lacking flavour. I think it probably was a bit of an anomaly so will see again another time.

Had a great Thai-inspired salad on Wednesday, it was so nice I went back to buy the last one yesterday (the new salad boxes for that day had cous cous and cooked veg which I'm not such a fan of, so I was glad there was still one of the other ones left). The reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that there was no ingredients list, and the salad box had nuts in it, which I'd usually expect to see some allergen information given about, and also I just like to know what I'm eating.

Just popped in for some takeaway lunch, had a wrap and a veggie samosa - both were delicious and I was completely full afterwards. Also had a turmeric latte, made with oat milk, which was absolutely gorgeous. The pantry is a small cafe, but is very tastefully furnished and has a very friendly atmosphere, and also has a few tables if you want to sit in. I am vegan and I can honestly say this is the tastiest vegan food I’ve had in Leicester!

Popped in to try out this new place on my lunch break, was intrigued by the vegetarian and vegan options on offer. Despite it being near to 12 noon many lunch items weren’t yet ready to be served, which was missing a trick as most other places are already up and running at that time ready for the lunch time rush. I opted for the curry, which I had to wait to be heated up. I was charged £4.50, even though the price on the board clearly said £4. The curry was served in a pot roughly the same size as a takeaway coffee cup, which was just less than half full of curry with a flat bread stuffed in on top in a poor attempt to disguise the lack of contents. It was probably no more than two heaped tablespoons of curry in there, to say I felt like a mug would be an understatement. It tasted alright, but not amazing. Also it was just vegetable and potato, no protein to speak of. Fortunately Smorgas is just a couple of streets away and do a generous salad box with egg and beans for £2.50. The owner may also like to take a leaf out of Currant Affair’s book, where for under a fiver you can get a great fresh sandwich and a big cup of soup. With only half an hour to eat you want something decent, and a fair amount for the money you’ve paid. Not a good experience.

Today the royal indian team were at the clarendon park christmas fair. I ordered the pau bhaji and for £5 they gave me such a dismal amount of food, absolute daylight robbery. Shame on them. I do not recommend.

I've been to the spice tree a few times over the past couple of months. Great food and atmosphere. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. Good value for money and would definitely recommend whether out with friends or family.
