The Pancake House in Harrogate

Nice place but don't go here for gluten free food, it's not available. They used to do great GF pancakes but change of owners and a load of waffle later (pun intended) you can't get them anymore. Such a shame and we won't be using this place any more as we have 2 Coeliacs in our group

Quite dissappinting that there are no gluten free options on the menu. I didn't expect gluten free pancakes as I know it may be hard to ensure no cross contamination but it would have been nice if they had some gluten free cakes instead. Their solution was that I could make my own meal off the menu using any ingredients which were gluten free or a salad. Which was pretty much a cooked breakfast with no bread or a salad which I didn't fancy in the morning!

We stopped for a late lunch and ordered two savoury pancakes and two brunches, one with mushrooms and bacon and one with eggs and salmon. The service was slow despite the place not being particularly busy. The brunches were ok but nothing to write home about and certainly overpriced for what they were. The pancakes were not very nice, especially the Margherita one as it was undercooked and the cheese didn’t taste good. We then had two desserts. The ice cream was good but the biscoff cake was dry. Overall sadly we didn’t enjoy the experience enough to come back again in future, sorry.

Despite advertising gluten free available and gluten free pancakes, this wasn't true. We were offered a salad or we could buy our own loaf of gluten free bread from the supermarket and they'd make a sandwich! No gluten free pancakes were available! Coeliac isn't a life choice. If you don't want to offer gluten free food don't advertise on the website that you do. Very misleading.

First time to visit here. Ordered 3 breakfast sandwiches and they weren’t great. Tomatoes were added when not ordered, mushrooms swimming in butter so they were left half eaten. The waitress was brusque and while we appreciated they were busy they clearly had time to be friendlier to regular customers. The young lad on the till was clearly overwhelmed by trying to serve ice cream and take payments, he was very apologetic and I felt quite sorry for him. The 10% service charge is a joke. As I work in this industry I know that due to so many people paying by card that tips are getting less but if I have good service I always tip but this would stop me coming here again. As it is the service and the food have put me off anyway.

I visited the Pancake House twice during my family summer holiday. The first time I had a waffle and the second time I had a pancake - both absolutely amazing!! So delicious and very good pricing. Vast selection of choices & toppings. The staff are really friendly and I would highly recommend going there. 100% five stars!

Saw gluten free options online so took my 5 year old coeliac today. Big mistake! There are no gluten free pancakes or waffles in the pancake house.

Having moved to this location last Dec, we have visited the Pancake House a number of times, the overall experiance was always good BUT.... just left there this afternoon stopping for coffee and ice creme. We finally gave up waiting to be seated (as per the sign) and sat down. The place was overflowing with staff and business was brisk but not busy. Basically we were ignored so went to the counter to order. Several staff ignored us but finally we were able to place our order. The Cappuccino and Americano were both weak and certainly not what we had been served on previous occasions. (The ice creme was good). There is clearly a training need as the server delivered our drinks (no tray) by steadying the cups on the saucers through putting her fingers on the cup rims; thats a basic health violation that even newbies should be taught! When it came time to pay, again ignored for a few minutes before it was done. I would have made a complaint on the spot but given they have previously been better and there were still customers in the shop, I decided not to make a scene; perhaps I should have, but frankly I think doing it on here is more likely to get managements attention. Finally, there is a notice saying they are currently open 10-5, 7 days per week so why start cleaning counters and displays at 4:30 and blocking the enterance steps with a sign to discourage customers? I worked in Retail for 21 years; cleanup Starts After you close the doors! As proud Patley Bridge residents; it was an embarrassment; Guys you can do better!

Lovely pancakes and waffles. Cooked fresh to order. And dog friendly too which sealed us eating there today. Waitresses do need to watch the timescale visitors arrive as to taking orders, as we arrived well before 3 other couples, however we were attended to after them, resulting in a wait for our food /drink. When visitors have carpark ticket timescale restrictions this can be a little annoying. I also like to make my own decision on whether i leave a tip or not when i visit places, and not knowing beforehand there is a service charge of 10% (didn't see advertised ANYWHERE on menu or walls etc) i was annoyed. I thought i had been overcharged. If we visit again, i will be paying the price advertised on the menu.

Different staff and management to usual so think it’s under new management. Similar menu and food / coffee still good BUT they now charge an extra 10 % service charge so a latte is £4 plus 40p which is way too expensive. Similarly a bacon butty is £6 plus 60p! We won’t be going again until they see sense and remove the extra 10%.

Food was very good and waitresses lovely. We have eaten here a lot over the years and it’s been super but we’re very shocked by the price increases since it’s been under new ownership and the inclusion of a 10% service charge. We understand a business needs to make money but it doesn’t feel like a place for the locals anymore, moreso for tourists for a holiday treat.

Visiting family has heard great things. We ordered the pancakes, we had to wait an hour. I appreciate they were busy but they could have said that there would be an hours wait, we would have opted for a takeaway if this was the case Shocked when received the bill as we had been over charged by £10. When questioned the waitress was very rude and wasn't very happy about refunding me the difference. Out of principle and the service I will not be visiting again

A cute looking café/restaurant, but, I simply cannot believe I was charged £8.80 for two cups of latte coffee. I don't mid paying slightly over the odds for a superb coffee, but this was just ordinary coffee

Dog friendly, fast and efficient service and a lovely selection of cakes in addition to the signature pancakes and waffles.

Came for a waffle and pancakes on our way past. Absolutely fantastic!! When we came it was very busy which is great to see for a small business. Will definitely be back. Great service and great food.

Would be 5 star If they hadn't taken the gluten free option of the menu. Kids love it, unfortunately don't cater for people with food intolerance. They do cater for dogs tho 🤦‍♂️

Following previous reviews, we went to try out The Pancake House, upon entering there was a gorgeous smell of freshly made pancakes, and a warm friendly welcome (including our dog!) from the staff - was quickly shown to our table, there was a great menu, we were spoilt for choice - in the end went for bacon butties all round which came with fresh tomatoes & optional poached egg (recommended) and a pupster cookie for our smallest family member 🐾🍪 - food was served pretty quickly considering how busy they were, and the food was piping hot! Looking at the pancake & waffle orders coming out, they were too good to resist - so finished off with some pancakes to share between us - well worth saving some space for 😋 - can’t wait to go again!

Really lovely pancakes and waffles, and a huge selection of both sweets and savoury! I got the Nutella, strawberries and ice cream pancake, my husband got the peaches and cream waffles. We also got a smoothie each and all was beautiful! Plenty of seats, bigger than it looks on the inside but I can imagine it gets busy! Dog friendly, and so our dog came in with us too. Staff were really friendly and helpful, really friendly towards are dog too and made sure she had some water. We bought her two of the dog friendly treats that were on offer and seemed to enjoy them. Would come again if ever in the area again!

If you like Pancakes then you won't be disappointed here. The choices on the menu are many. And the actual pancakes and ice cream delicious. All topped of by friendly staff.

Popped off to Pateley Bridge and the selection of pancakes looked superb. Went in to order and told no longer do gluten free pancakes. Utterly disappointing. Couldn't try any of the menu. We've had gluten free gallettes before from here on numerous occasions but haven't visited for a while. They do look good and there is a fair selection of savoury and sweet pancakes but nothing for us gluten free families.

After reading some of the reveiws we decided to call in for brunch. We left not very impressed , the coffee was mediocre and the tuna in my pancake was dark and very strong flavoured , not pleasant at all .To be charged a service charge on top of those prices which no one said could be took off if requested was too much . First and last visit im afraid 😞

Oh, you have to try the Pancake House! I've never had savory pancakes before, but my mind was blown when I tried the salmon and cream cheese pancake. It was so good that I went back the next morning, but sad to say they weren't open yet. I guess I'm just an early bird! Anyway, the staff was so friendly when they found out it was my birthday, and they all wished me a happy birthday. It was such a nice touch and made my visit even more memorable. All in all, I really recommend the Pancake House and I can't wait to go back!

Visited the Pancake house for lunch as we always do when in the area. Food is great and love the fact that it’s a point of difference in the area from other eateries. The staff too are always very helpful and friendly. The big miss is the lack of baby changing facilities. Today I was on my hands and knees in the gents changing my daughter which is completely unhygienic and shows no thought to customers with young children. Come on guys sort it out!!
