Nice little pub on the outskirts of Bilton. Close to the Beryl Burton cycleway. Lovely to sit in the beer garden when the weather is nice and thereis plentyofseating. . Actual pub is small inside. Lots of regular patrons who can dominate certain seating areas. Bar staff lovely. No food served but great drinks on tap.

My sort of pub. Great old interior. Huge outside grassed area with a stream running along the edge. Lovely location. Good pint of handpulled Sam Smiths. Nice lady behind the bar. Good stopping off point on a walk from Harrogate to Knaresborough.

The building is charming and the staff are very good. You're not allowed to check your messages on the pub, as it's "antisocial, "so I quietly read my book instead.

I knew this pub for over 40 years ago and haven't been for at least 20 years. It hasn't changed it's still as good as it always has. Friendly landlady. Great pint of Sam Smith for only £3.20 and a lovely dog friendly beer garden to enjoy your pint with your dog after a walk

It's a proper pub, bar just big enough for one person, proper lounge, natural stone decor, it's like a time walk, walk through the door and get transported back to the 1930s and the better for it. Lovely garden. What a fantastic find while I was walking the dogs.

Very charming, very old country pub we called in while out walking. Inside the pub is tiny with a few different rooms going off at different angles with a fireplace. The toilets are on the outside of the building. Clean and well maintained.

A sign clearly marked on the doorway entrance stating "no dogs, no children, no phones" , can't understand why as there is no soft furnishings in the pub, we had a drink (we were the only ones in the pub). considering this pub is close to a campsite with campers who quite often have dogs , children and maybe wanting to research of things to do / routes in the area on their phones over a pint then it's totally missing out on being busy. cirtainly lost out on £20-£40 worth of drinks from us on the Saturday because of this ☹️

I got a lovely warm welcome at this pub, now they take cards it’s a good option for a post-walk drink with the dog. It’s a really quaint old building with an interesting bar/hatch area. Sam Smiths pub. If you’re a fan of signs asking you not to do things, you’re in for a treat, there are signs everywhere about kids, dogs, phones, glasses, rules, which do detract somewhat from what could be a really welcoming experience. Get rid of some of these and you’re onto a winner.

Unreconstructed Sam Smith's pub with several tiny dark bars which must be very atmospheric in winter with open fires. In summer an enormous beer garden comes into play. The pub is situated in a green oasis of trees with a stream running around it. The setting is bizarre, near the end of a long road that passes through a modern housing estate. First time you go you think your satnav has made a mistake.

We called in here for a drink whilst staying on the nearby Bilton campsite. It was nice and cosy inside with open fires and very nice ale, outside is a huge beer garden but was far too cold outside on our visit. Excellent value pub in a lovely setting with a great beer garden. Definitely worth a visit.on a sunny day. My only qualm was that they didn't take cards which might make them the only business in the UK so make sure you take cash with you if you're going. Beer is Sam Smiths from Tadcaster and about £3.50 a pint which I think is really cheap by today's standards.

If you enjoy a passive aggressive rude landlady who prefers their guests to be wet and cold, this place is a must visit.. Drying your clothing items near the fire will result in them being thrown in your face. Do yourself a favour and go to the Royal Oak where the same round will be half the price!
