Lovely pub to have a meal in, good choice of food and drinks

Unfortunately, we had been before and decided to give it another go. Probably shouldn't have. Long waits, steaks incorrectly cooked, bland food, wrong cut of steak served. Incredibly slow service and we ordered just after 5pm, so not exactly busy at that time. Bill came and was incorrect as the offers had not been applied. We won't return again, just so disappointed. It could be great.

Very poor, staff work hard but kitchen is super slow. Waiting 3 hours for a starter, main, dessert. Food was frozen reheated rubbish. Really sad as the kestrel used to be a very good food spot.

Absolutley Fantastic place, warm welcome, great food, and we could park our campervan in the carpark overnight, We woke up to see baby lambs in the field next to us and bluetits on the van , we'll definitely be back here again , Thankyou x

My family all met up to have Sunday together at The Kestrel. As always the food was 10/10. Gemma, who looked after us was friendly & very professional. The whole experience was second to none.

Fabulous staff nothing too much trouble rooms very clean and comfortable. Eat in restaurant lovely choice and food . Best breakfast ever definitely recommend. Will C

Lovely Sunday visit to The Kestrel, had obviously been very busy as there was a few menu items unavailable however our server Gemma explained this early on. We enjoyed the belly pork roast, signature burger and then sticky toffee pudding. Highly recommend the crafted sodas, really refreshing!

First class dinner at The Kestrel, with very friendly and informative waitress, Francesca. Very glad it's local to us.

Probably the worst family meal out we’ve ever had. I went back against my better judgement, failed again. Only eat here if you can’t be bothered to microwave your own dinner.

A lovely stop off for dinner. We did not call ahead but we were seated immediately. Food was fabulous. Staff very friendly. 👌

Wonderful lunch. Great service, welcoming and attentive. Lovely spacing of tables. The chips were fantastic and our son raved about his signature burger. The fishcakes and gammon were delicious too. Will definitely go back.

There was such a warm and friendly atmosphere in The Kestrel and Gemma, who looked after us, was the perfect host. Our meals were of the highest quality too. I had the hake fishcakes and my wife had the sea bass. We followed those with desserts which were also very tasty! Thank you to Gemma and all at The Kestrel.

A friendly welcome, an allocation of a dog friendly table, and an amazing Sunday lunch. We couldn't ask for anything more.

Food was very good, as was the atmosphere. The one complaint was the slowness of the service -- we sat down at 1pm and our main courses were not served until 2.30. Also, the table had not been cleared between our starters and the mains.

Been to the Kestrel quite a few times the staff are always nice and helpful.

We went here about 5 p.m on a Saturday and managed to get a table by a nice roaring fire which was really cosy. It was order at the bar because of space, which was fine. The food was good and came quickly. They were out of a few things but told us upfront which is ideal. Overall, a very nice meal.

Called on last minute for a table of six on a Sunday. We had been going for a birthday but the other establishment had a power cut ..not to be put off we tried here as our best bet of a table. Absolutely went out of they're way to get us in always good food and service ☺️🙏👍

I decided to celebrate my special day with Kestrel, but unfortunately it turned out a bad decision. We ordered most basic dishes - Fish and Chips, Chicken Burgers and onion rings, yet the taste was sub par. Fish was chewy, burger was not up to mark. Onion rings and Cappuccino were good and hence two stars!

Great spot and fantastic venue. Food was excellent as well as the service.

Lovely place but the food wasn’t good. Pate was the smallest slither ever with a massive dollop of onion marmalade. Lamb was lovely but the veg and potatoes were not. Over cooked veg, hard potatoes and lukewarm. There is one gentleman there who needs to vastly improve his appearance. Baggy, scruffy, too long jeans hanging off him and a scruffy shirt with paint on. Needs a good scrub up doesn’t look good. Up your game the Nelson is amazing !

Popped in this place as I was working in the area having been recommended by one of my customers. Despite it being cold and icy outside inside was toasty warm with real fires blazing, friendly staff quick service and very tasty food. I can highly recommend this place.

Went for lunch whilst in Harrogate doing some shopping and have to say I was very impressed. Lovely pub, great food, a little pricey but well worth it. The food was lovely and the service was good.

One of those hidden gem open fire food is great. Reason price Drinks 2 starters 2 mains 2 pudding and 2 hot drinks for £90 and the staff was great and friendly and nothing is to much trouble

We stayed the night here and had food, the food was absolutely to die for, stake pie and lamb shank so very very nice.

We always come here if we need a good breakfast and it never disappoints. The value for money is amazing, the staff are always lovely and polite. I feel as though they have new cooks in because this breakfast is even better than it was a year ago!

Lovely location for a Sunday meal. Very dog-friendly. Bar staff led by Gemma are very friendly and welcoming. I only come in every couple of months but they always remember my dog by name and make sure she's comfortable and provided with plenty of treats! Only negative is that the roads are a bit dangerous when walking, particularly with a dog at night as it sits directly on an A-road with no street lighting or pavements. A nearby bus stop or a public footpath leading in would improve this immensely.

Love the Kestrel for its atmosphere and quality of food. Been going to the Inn at Scarcroft recently as it’s a bit nearer but the quality and staff aren’t as good as the Kestrel

Came here for a family meal a few weeks ago. The meal was good, and everyone enjoyed it. The only minor complaint we had was some parts of the meat in the venison pie were a bit fatty, but we could still come back!

Firstly may a say a massive to Gemma for her care , understanding and professionalism, we were a group of 14 Dementia members and wanted to enjoy a christmas lunch , Gemma served us throughout and made my members experience amazing Thankyou Gemma , secondly i would like to thank the management team for making the whole process happen , going out of her way to make sure we had the most amazing place to sit and eat and ensure that the rest of the diners where also catered for. I have been here before. I won't be going back after my last experience. They had clearly over booked and as a result, we were not able to even get in. We booked ahead to reserve a table, the car park was fully booked. The kitchen staff came into the car park, laughing and recording a video of how busy it was. We ended up having to leave. It's a shame, when it's not this disorganised, it's actually a nice place.
