Lovely food, great service. Happy staff.

Very popular. On site of a garden centre. Ten to Twenty minutes queue to be seated, but they kept you informed what was happening as you waited. A little cramped inside, so they couldn't fit more tables in. Nice food, reasonable prices.

To small and easily feels crowded, breakfasts ok but nothing exciting, service always slow and staff look stressed are the under manned ?

Great cafe and delicious coffee and great garden centre

Nice cafe, lovely staff, but needs more tables. This small cafe seems to be popular meeting place for local ladies. This meant that people were queuing outside in the cold while inside the tables were blocked by the WI who were there for 60 minutes or more for just one hot drink. Time for a bigger cafe!

Don't forget people outside. Poor definition of cake description. Nice tea. Portion size of cream & jam,is to small. Nice scone.

It's a while since I had lunch at Lime Tree and it was as good as eve .,The whole experience is lovely.the atmosphere is relaxed and quiet a place where you can have lunch and chat without shouting.My very favourite place to eat in north yorkshire

Decided to have lunch while shopping for the garden The cafe was quiet when we went in but soon filled up. The service was great with all the staff were warm and friendly . The food was delicious and I would highly recommend the pancake filled with different fish in a sauce. Yummy!!!! Will be calling again.

Posting as 4 stars as quite expensive but food excellent service is great clean and great friendly staff. Also just got the side eye from other customers making the atmosphere a bit off as we weren't the usual over 65+.

My mother and I visited here as soon as the cafe re-opened in April 2021 we had really missed it during the second lockdown.Presently only open outdoors on the patio but now with a small marquee to help keep wind and rain away.Very good suntrap too the patio area.Nice to see the cafe up and running again.Lattes and scones still as good as ever

I have been going here for years. The food is usually good and tasty. We were looking forward to it as we had been working hard for days. However today after standing waiting for over 20 minutes we were shown in. They are super covid aware. All the windows and doors were open. On a wet day like today it is cold sitting with a door behind you open. However knowing the food was good we put our coats on against the draft. Then we were told they had run out of jacket potatoes which we had gone for. We would not have waited if we had been told. The lady was more interested in track and trace which she had actually seen me scan the code on my phone. Can you imagine how cold it’s going to be sitting there in weeks to come. We won’t be returning.

I came across this eatery quite by chance as it is situated at the back of Forrest Moor Garden Centre. Most garden centre cafes the food is not great and of very mediocre quality, but Lime Tree Café is very different and a cut above the rest. The café is very tastefully decorated and there is a gorgeous private outside seating area to sit out in when the weather permits. The café is kept beautiful and clean and there is a wide selection of food to choose from. They also have a Specials Menu with some interesting and imaginative food on offer as well. Everything is cooked to order, so you may have a little wait if you choose a hot dish, but I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes at best and whilst you are waiting you can peruse the delectable jams, chutneys, biscuits etc to buy should you choose. The kitchen staff run the operation like a well oiled machine and are highly organised and skilled at what they do. I have ALWAYS found the waiting staff to be friendly, smiling, helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. I have on a few occasions witnessed some 'impossible' diners being unreasonable and demanding, but the waiting staff have handled the situation in a calm and professional manner and managed to calm down the most unruly of customers! Hats off to the team, well done you are ALL amazing. I shall see you all soon.

What a delightful cafe, within a lovely garden centre. Varied menu, excellent friendly service, sensible prices. We ate outside on the terrace (fabulous patio furniture!). My tuna salad was perfect, attractively presented, with wonderfully fresh produce. My companions all had what is, by all accounts, something of a locally famous Welsh rarebit. The verdict was a unanimous thumbs-up. In these difficult times, do support this local eaterie.

Visited The Lime Tree Cafe a couple of times in the last couple of weeks and still love it.Friendly relaxed airy feel and a great outdoor seated area which with no wind is a superb sun trap.The Lady owner here works as hard as the rest of the staff which I think is very commendable.The Highlight for me are the scones which taste homemade.

Lovely cafe with a great choice of food. The food we had was lovely and I'd definitely visit again. I like the fact there is an 'airier' conservatory feel part to sit in. I have chemical sensitivities so visiting places can be difficult with various air fresheners and redecorations being done etc. I found this part didn't have any fragrances that set off my allergies so had a lovely meal out with my mum. :)

I Visit this cafe about once a week on average.I take my Elderley mother usually.Since my last review in April 18 i dont think theres been any chamges.Some people complain about the staff but i think the staff are great.The cafe has a traditional relaxed feel to it and i think its fair to say the majority of customers are Elderly.The Scones are the highlight for me! Especially Cherry ones! I had a sunday roast one day and although it wasnt huge it was tasty with good meat and properly cooked veg.The only thing that needs changing here probably isnt the cafe,s responsibility,The Drive in Entrance and Exits need to be signed as such so people stick to the relevant Entrance as theres been a few near misses.

Couldn't even get a cuppa too busy so wont be back again your loss !!!

I go to the cafe quite often for coffee and a scone and a full meal now and a gen l have always found the staff friendly and helpful and the food very good and well presented

Called in after not visiting for a year or so. Used to be a favourite but can't see a return visit anytime soon. The service has really gone down. I realise that getting and retaining staff must be difficult now and staff were being trained. We waited a very long time for meals to be served and things were forgotten and needed a few reminders. The toastie had to be done again as anaemic, another long wait.

Overpriced small portions of average food served by lovely people

I’m glad I knew this cafe was here as I didn’t see much signage at the garden centre to find it.The service was excellent despite apparently being short staffed.Coffee nice and smooth and not too strong and our Welsh Rarebit was nicely presented and tasty.Parking easy if course ...Would have been 5 star if they had wifi

We visited Moorlands nursey for a look around and came across the café on the premises. It had a very substantial menu from fully cooked meal, breakfasts, snacks, hot & cold sandwiches, panini's, jacket potatoes, cakes, scones etc a variety of hot and cold drinks. All food cooked and baked on the premises. Very friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere. Had a short wait due t the place being busy but well worth the wait. We shall certainly be calling again.

Dropped into the cafe while at the garden centre. Good choice of GF cakes. Pleasant surroundings and reasonable prices.

We went on our way to shopping for a light breakfast we were early just as the scones came out of the oven and were delicious served with rosebud jam my husband had marmalade wash down with a lovely cup of coffee as early as it was the young lady was welcoming and shed made the scones on conversation she told us she also made the loaf cakes and brownies which looked just as delicious we would recommend we have been for lunch go early to avoid queues a treat not to be missed and the garden centre and shop are a joy to be hold and something different for all ages

The Lime Tree is a very nice cafe inside the garden centre on Forest Moor Rd with easy parking. This was our first visit to the cafe and we called for breakfast mid morning on a Saturday which I guess would be a relatively busy time for them. Despite that we were seated quickly and the speed and quality of service was excellent. My wife had the fried egg and bacon sandwich while I chose poached eggs on toast with bacon. Both breakfasts were exceptionally well presented and tasted perfect.They also offer a much wider menu including things like full breakfast, sandwiches, panini and cakes. In addition they have a specials menu which changes daily offering larger meals such as roasts, but we didn’t see that menu as it was too early. The cafe is spotlessly clean. Staff friendly and professional. Good value food too. We will return.

Went for brunch with my wife today and we ordered eggs etc and coffee including an Americano with cold milk on the side for me. My coffee came, it looked weak but I added milk and tasted. It was very weak so I asked for a stronger one. I was asked if I wanted a double shot in my coffee. To my surprise the Barista added another shot into my already weak coffee. It was horrible. I asked for another stronger coffee. It came along with the Barista who confronted me rudely in public saying he had been making coffee for 13 years and that this new cup wouldn’t taste any different. It clearly did and was better. I was astonished then to find I had been changed for a double shot on the bill. What an embarrassing saga for me and my wife. Clearly customer service wasn’t on the menu today. Nil points and nil return.

Traditional tea/coffee cafe but with a very good lunch menu. Although attached to a small garden centre, the food is well above the normal standard. Everything is homemade. Possibly the best scones around. Lovely friendly service.

Delicious lunch, very reasonably priced. Ample parking and quiet, relaxed surroundings. The home made sticky toffee pudding was delicious and the extra hot water for the tea was a nice touch. Very convenient place to meet up with friends.

The café is bright, cheerful and relaxing and was pretty full when we visited at lunch time. After a short wait of less than 5 minutes, a lady showed us to a vacant table. We had a jacket potato with salad and cheese which was tasty plus a bowl of courgette and brie soup which came with bread and butter. Sadly after two mouthfuls of soup I just could not stomach the odd combination, so left it. A really nice, helpful waitress came over and asked if I would like an alternative soup which apparently was spiced parsnip and apple. We had a large latte to drink and a hot chocolate and having already drunk those before our meals arrived, I felt slightly queasy so did not try the parsnip soup. All the staff were cheerful and polite but there was quite a delay in delivering our meals. We didn't have room for any desserts or cakes but the selection looked very tempting, so perhaps next time we visit.

This cafe - once lovely - has gone off the boil.

Visited one Sunday in August 2018. Quieter after lunch, plenty of staff, and clean, but it just felt...can I say 'contrived'? Jams, pickles, odd wines, biscuits, cook books playfully displayed...just like every other garden centre cafe. As a reminder, this is Knaresborough, not Snoozeville...

Beautiful coffee, however they didn’t serve our cakes with it right away. Very long waiting time, 25 minutes in between. That could be due to the one main meal that was ordered, (which they got wrong). Would recommend to ask if you want yours to be served together with the drinks.

I have been a couple of times with a friend and her elderly relative (80) and for elderly people it is ok. Most of the customers seem to be very elderly. The cafe makes a huge thing of offering gluten free options but there is absolutely nothing for people with a dairy intolerance - not even soya milk to go with a cup of tea. It’s very unusual now to find somewhere that really does a big fat zero for people who can’t tackle dairy.

Excellent food good service reasonable prices

While lacking the finesse to be a top notch tearoom such as Betty's, this is a very good English café with a little whimsical charm. The facilities are clean and tidy but just edging towards shabby chic. The staff were older ladies who provided excellent service with a lovely smile on their faces (that in itself can be a rarity these days!). The café was pretty much full and most of the patrons were sixty and above (it was a weekday lunch though!) so the ambiance was calm, relaxed, and chatty.

Visited this nice cafe many times and although its a little pricey on some items its a very nice place.When its warm and sunny out sit outside on the patio its a great sun-trap! The large Latte,s are very tasty and the home made food is all good especially the Cherry scones!

We popped in having spent some time and money at the great garden centre. Quiche, delicious, wonderful salad and a great piece of cake. Whilst not what the diet ordered it certainly gave us the energy we needed to ciontinue on our day. Don’t give it a miss, you will regret it.

A couple were chatty outside the entrance door, as we entered this cafe my mum is 86 years, dad 80 years,followed., slowly he has Parkinson I saw an empty table relieved I was moving the cusion for my dad, mum had already sat down! ( both have sticks) when we approached by staff & informed a a couple were waiting for a table! I apologised I had no idea the two ladies were waiting for a table!

Nice choice of food, from the cakes, snacks to full lunch. Staff all polite nice decor. Clean good place to take Grannie.

Delicious light toasted teacake with butter accompanied by mint tea served with honey. Staff are always very pleasant and helpful.

I am a regular at lime tree cafe. The service is excellent as is the food. My friends and I meet most weeks for coffee and scones which are very good. Occasionally I have Sunday lunch, which is very good value and well presented.

Menus look very interesting, So far just been for coffee and scone but will definitely trying breakfast or lunch . Excellent service in a friendly setting. And there's the beautiful garden centre with plenty of parking.

Limpia y blanca está a la orden del día en este encantador restaurante. Su alternativa fuera de la zona de estar tiene sombrillas mesa superior que la sombra o el cambiante clima vivienda dicta. El menú ofrece una buena variedad de platos populares y la casa de horno está expuesto en la caja. El personal era rápido y eficiente y muy servicial ya que fueron alimentados con el tráfico local y el tren a Harrogate era el perfecto asesoramiento. El jardín es grande y tras recorrer una taza de café es de rigor.

1. 45:00 martes en húmedo. Esperando a ser sentado según las instrucciones, aún esperando en 1. 55:00 había visto me personal pero sin reconocimiento, señaló una mesa vacía. Esperando y aburrieron con ser ignorado, así que decidimos irnos, sólo me dejó en mi propia línea. El servicio es muy pobre cuando el personal permanente hablando.

Dejó aquí recientemente para el almuerzo. Es una cafetería muy pequeña y encantadora, comida luminoso y limpio, con un personal muy amable y deliciosa. También vende los pepinillos, galletas, etc. lo que me hace regalos muy bienvenido. Al estar en el corazón de un bonito...

Realmente disfruté de mi rápido brunch en este café. Yo tenía un queso y Tortilla de champiñones con ensalada, que no está en el menú, pero lo hizo a la orden, fue muy buena! Gran tortilla con ensalada frescos laterales con col! Gran Café, es...

Se puede recomendar el jamón y queso servido con ensalada de panini y col. mixta Compramos otra botella de su ensalada.

Paramos para almorzar aquí y estuvimos muy contentos de hacerlo, tuve una patata chaqueta deliciosa con queso y jamón, mi marido tenía un queso brie y bacon gratinados, ambos venían con una ensalada muy buenas. Estaba muy concurrido, aunque sólo fue después de las 12, pero no tuvimos que esperar mucho tiempo para nuestra comida, que era fresca y caliente. Compramos scones para llevar a casa, que también estaban deliciosos!

Good food, good staff and service

The Lime Tree Cafe within Moorland Nurseries is a lovely place for drinks, snacks or a full meal. I attend regularly with family and friends and have had Sunday lunches, specials and food and drink from the menu, all of which has been served fresh and piping hot by friendly and efficient staff. At lunchtimes there may be a queue (You cannot book in advance) but it is rare that you have to wait long. Definitely recommended for anyone in the Harrogate and Knaresborough area.

This cafe is tucked away, inside a garden centre and is very popular. Nevertheless, on the Saturday lunchtime when we visited, the wait was short and the service good. I chose a lunch which I'd also eaten in a local pub the previous week ( part of a chain specialising in family Sunday lunches.). The Lime Tree's was better. Here the food seems home made ,rather than mass produced and the atmosphere is pleasant ,light And airy. Parking is easy and free. This was not the first time I've visited and it won't be the last!

Visited on a Saturday Lunch Time and whilst the café was busy we were seated quickly.It was good to see that our table was cleaned thoroughly before we sat down-unlike the feeble efforts at many multiples.We ordered toasties which were very enjoyable and came with salad.It was apparent that these had been freshly prepared as was the food which was being taken to adjoining tables.Service was brisk and professional -our hot drinks did arrive somewhat before our food -probably our fault for not requesting them to be served at the same time.The Christmas Lunch at £10:95 looked very good value.We will certainly visit again.
