My wife visited on a miserable Monday lunchtime. We were soon cheered by the welcome. The barman/waiter did not know what an Aperol Spritz was but, following my direction he produced one at a reasonable price. I had the excellent Timothy Taylor’s bitter. From a fairly extensive menu madam chose a club sandwich which was good. I ordered the Tradition Yorkshire shortcrust pie. I thought I might get a bit of casserole with a round of pastry on top but no. The pie was a wedge, cut from a large pie, it was packed with beef and at least two inches (5cm for youngsters) deep accompanied by fresh green veg , creamy mash and a gravy to die for. It bordered on the divine. Lunch and drinks just over £30 fabulous. It was, arguably the best pie I have had away from home. Madam makes a mean meat and potato pie with duet crust.

We booked this lovely hotel to attend an event that was taking place nearby. It has plenty of character and charm and we had a fantastic time. You feel very welcome and looked after but the staff don’t pester you, they are just there if you need them. The breakfasts are excellent and there is a good choice, we usually had continental but had a cooked breakfast some days. No hot plates here, everything is cooked to order. We did get parking but it is limited. We really hope that we can get a room for when we go to Harrogate next year.

Overnight stay was good price for b&b; central location, our room was a bit dated and shabby but the bed was comfy and quality linen / towels. The road noise was loud with the window open but guess that’s the trade off for town centre location! I have to say that the Harrogate Brasserie delivered in every category!! The meal was good quality and cooked to a decent standard, it was "gastro-pub" worthy and enjoyable to eat. The surroundings are warm, cosy and "pub-like", whilst being a cut above the average pub (!!), just perfect as far as I was concerned. Finally, the beer is Timothy Taylors, so it was outstanding!! Definitely well kept and a very enjoyable hand pumped pint, superb. The staff were good but not great. Everything was done just fine and "as you would expect", so no complaints whatever.

This looks fabulous from the outside and is cosy but a little plainer on the inside. The drinks order (very good well conditioned Timothy Taylor) came with a basket of good bread and plenty of butter portions. Both me and my wife ordered the fish and chips which were very good. Big chunky tripple cooked chips and a large piece of excellent haddock in a light batter. Could possibly have done with resting a moment longer as there was a little bit of oil. So large we could not countenance dessert.. Service was good, although our waitress seemed to disappear (either on a break or the end of her shift) but the head waiter stepped in.

Having had a fairly indifferent experience nearby the previous evening we weren't hopeful, but the Harrogate Brasserie met our needs and exceeded our expectations by a country mile. Service was good and friendly, the wine was excellent and the food was - well it was probably the best food I've had outside London in years. A starter of triangular (yes I meant that) black pudding set the tone. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. We have been here before and enjoy the quirky interior and the live music, and the staff are friendly and attentive. Tonight our mains were delicious, the fish pie with saffron sauce was beautifully flavoured and the buttered greens were plentiful and very crunchy, which is how I like them. However the cheeseboard was pricey at £11.50, so we opted to share it. The five different cheeses were all tasty and reasonably sized portions, but the accompanying 10 small crackers were dry, unappetising, and the charcoal ones were downright unpleasant. These were accompanied by four tiny curled up celery sticks and some past their best grapes and a very small pot of chutney. All in all the presentation was very disappointing and could have been so much better for the price, with very little effort. Some apple, a little salad, a few olives, a bit more chutney and some more substantial crackers would have really helped showcase the lovely cheeses.

Booked in advance for a group 2 course meal for £15 with the option of a steak supplement and checked this was available the night before on the website. Sadly, they had changed the menu on arrival, so my 2 course meal was £25, I opted for the lamb rump in the end which was delicious.

I’ve stayed at the Harrogate Brasserie on several occasions and always thoroughly enjoyed it. In particular the decor and live music make it really stand out. It has tremendous character.

Firstly TA reviewers seem to be mixing up the two listings for this place, one is for the separate hotel and this site for restaurant only.

A cold Tuesday night in February and the restaurant was quiet. We enjoyed the live music.

Went on a wet Wednesday in October, cheered up as soon we entered. Whether full or quieter The Alice always has a cosy welcoming atmosphere and is always immaculate. Food is fabulous. We started with Thai/Korean flavoured fried cauliflower a littler different, bursting with flavour . My main was a perfectly cooked (for me) medium+ breast of duck presented with a "pot" of peas, onions ,lardons and duck together with perfectly cooked chips, it is terrific dish. The other half (who eats like a mouse) had a second starter as a main; scallops with pork belly with a side of honey roasted beetroot all of which she really enjoyed and thought the combination worked really well. No room for puds, but we did enjoy a fairly priced nice bottle Negromaro from the extensive wine and thoughtful wine list which which puts many 5 star hotels to shame. The young front of house team are very professional; informed and friendly. Simply the best dining pub we know by far

May have been cold outside but the blankets for sitting out with help stay closer to the river for longer in the year. Had the pork and apple sauce roll, must have been half a pig in there - three very thick (and I mean thick) slices, deffo the main event with apple sauce and stuffing the accompaniment they should be.

I was really pleased to come here and it looked great on arrival. However, really disappointed with the fried egg sandwich, with one egg. I then bought a scone with jam and butter and a piece of flapjack, nothing special at all, for £9. I did not expect it to be expensive. Go for the breakfast as this is reasonable!!!!
