Brilliant experience with brilliant staff

The Crown is a student pub as it mainly caters to college students in Egham. Being the college break, it was quite empty when we went. I had called in to check on #gluten-free options, which I was told they had. When we went there, though, there wasn't anything gluten-free other than a pizza, though it was the best Vegan Gluten Free Pizza I had in ages! Frank (I think that was his name) took great care to check every ingredient was #Gluten Free and put on fresh gloves to make it. The drinks and food were reasonably priced, and the pizza was really tasty. I'll probably go back for the pizza and the care taken to make it. I'm Gluten Intolerant and didn't have any issue with the food.

Lovely little student bar with friendly staff. Very reasonable price for drinks. Toilets let it down a bit as locks broken and a bit run down, but to be expected in a student pub. Will definitely be back with friends.

What a lovely pub! Stayed in an Airbnb locally and went into The Packhorse three/four times over the space of 9 days. Always lovely staff so helpful and kind - served by various people…. It must be a nice place to work! Great burger and pizza style food. Reasonably priced and clean! Very welcoming to a family of four with two young boys. Pool and table football to play with sports and tv on inside. Highly recommend five 🌟

I organised a conference at Royal Holloway and we booked part of the pub for an informal buffet dinner on Friday evening. The booking process was smooth. No down payment was requested, despite the fact that it was Friday evening and that we had a group of c. 40 people. The food was good, the atmosphere great and the staff really helpful. This is how every pub should be. Great job!

The prices suck especially for a student pub, bring back two for Tuesdays

I'm not going to say anything about the staff as they were brilliant. But unfortunately the pub is following the woke agenda's, it's completely cashless which is terrible, and they have a fluid gender bathroom. Need I say more? Once you go woke you go broke

A nice student pub with affordable food and nice drinks ! A great place to go chill with friends after a busy day. Also good for watching sport with a nice atmosphere and nice outdoor seating. The quiz on Sundays is great too.

Wow blown away with this gem of a pub. Not a student but by gum it took me back to Uni days and the staff were brilliant. Bar staff were brilliant gentleman manning the bar was brill along with the lady who served me at the bar. The deal of food with a half pint drink is inspired. Loads of space, pool table, foosball, outdoor seating and a kitchen that is so efficient that's the food came out in so quickly and was delivered by a lass with the sweetest disposition. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and will be returning as soon as possible to vicariously live the student life again. Well done to all the staff you make the place what it is. Awesome 👌 A1 10/10.

Decent pub. We returned here after years, way before this rebrand. It was great to play pool and they have some comfy seats in the corner. It was super cold as people wouldn’t shut the garden door behind them every time but otherwise drinks and staff were good.

We came yesterday for their Halloween Tuesday event and had so much fun! The staff were lovely and the food and cocktails were delicious. We noticed that a lot of things were half price which we thought was just for Halloween but were told that it’s every Tuesday! Was busy but we will definitely be back to take advantage!

I was waiting for the bus out front. Tried the Packhorse only because the 441 bus driver blew past me without stopping.

Avoid this place like the plague. Manager and staff can not handle high volume of customers. Waited for an hour for a burger. If I was a manager I would be ashamed. Staff knowledge and speed of service rubbish. University should come and revoke the lease.Tables out front need to be jet washed with grime all over. Watched three groups of five people walk out after waiting in line for ages just for a drink. Atmosphere given five as everyone’s laughing at how long it is taking to be served. Menus showing different prices than advertised

Great little student spot that is open to everyone, on different days of the week they have specials on like £2 a drink (we are talking Premium Spirits and Beers) also the food is ok, some days it’s £5 for a burger or a Pizza. The Shisha in the back garden is great as well, not too expensive.

pizza was £12, cold when it came, bbq so overpowering that it was sweeter than a dessert and all slippery so toppings just slide off. khara.

Simple bar and food, run by students, mainly for students at RHUL but open to the public. Good prices although better ale choice would be appreciated.

The gluten free pizza was very good (not often the case in many places). It took a while, because of the extra anti-allergen protocols - very reassuring for coeliacs! Good choice of burgers, almost all with veggie option. Overall food was pretty good. The gender neutral toilets were a not of such a high quality. They weren't particularly clean when I visited, and need some repairs....

Great atmosphere. The quiz on Sundays is always a sweet treat at the end of the week. Staff are really nice. Just a little pricey for what I'd expect, but it's a great place for uni students nonetheless.

Having attended this establishment all year, the only good thing I can say about it is the £2 pints at Happy Hour (5pm-8pm) and the chicken bites. An interaction today summed the service up, I went to the bar at 7.55pm hoping for 2 more drinks at the Happy Hour price but when served at 8pm (on the dot) was charged £7.60 because the system "sets the prices", I mean come on? Where is the common sense? Where is reason? I am local to this pub attending 1x or 2x a week for 10 months and the staff had no idea, I declined the £7.60 drinks out of frustration. For reference, pizzas are cooked from frozen and not worth £10+ at all, starter dishes are shocking value for money and the drinks are the only thing worth the ambience during Happy Hour.

Served me raw beef and served my partner raw chicken. The chicken is totally unacceptable as much as I can stand the beef. Asked to put back on the grill, came back and was raw again!

Very quick service with friendly staff and decent food if you get in there before ten. Very reasonable prices and a good selection of drinks. Nice atmosphere as well and a decent seating area make for a really good experience.

Had some food here and it was great. Really good quality. All sourced locally too. Staff are excellent and since changing thier name and ownership it has seen some great improvements. They also have a working fire which was a really good feature that creates a great vibe and atmosphere

Modern pub on a busy main road. No real ale, only keg beers. Modern decor. Large comfortable arm chairs and bench seating. small car park. sports channels on TV.

We visited today as we had an appointment at the University. Extremely friendly staff, made to feel very welcome. Lovely drinks and food ( just my daughter ate) , we had coffees. Very clean , good location . Thank you so much to the lovely young lady we met today :)

Awful place for a night of drinking. Slow service (20-30min waits), zero atmosphere, and pretty bad management system (several servers hanging around doing ???). If I could give 0 stars I would.

Slightly expensive drinks but lots of tables inside and outside. SU (student union rhul) runs lots of interesting events here several times a week.
