I'm not going to say anything about the staff as they were brilliant. But unfortunately the pub is following the woke agenda's, it's completely cashless which is terrible, and they have a fluid gender bathroom. Need I say more? Once you go woke you go broke

A nice student pub with affordable food and nice drinks ! A great place to go chill with friends after a busy day. Also good for watching sport with a nice atmosphere and nice outdoor seating. The quiz on Sundays is great too.

Wow blown away with this gem of a pub. Not a student but by gum it took me back to Uni days and the staff were brilliant. Bar staff were brilliant gentleman manning the bar was brill along with the lady who served me at the bar. The deal of food with a half pint drink is inspired. Loads of space, pool table, foosball, outdoor seating and a kitchen that is so efficient that's the food came out in so quickly and was delivered by a lass with the sweetest disposition. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and will be returning as soon as possible to vicariously live the student life again. Well done to all the staff you make the place what it is. Awesome 👌 A1 10/10.

Decent pub. We returned here after years, way before this rebrand. It was great to play pool and they have some comfy seats in the corner. It was super cold as people wouldn’t shut the garden door behind them every time but otherwise drinks and staff were good.

Great dinner and drinks! Tasty pizza and burger and fab Draught beer selection. Drinks deals were an added bonus!

We came yesterday for their Halloween Tuesday event and had so much fun! The staff were lovely and the food and cocktails were delicious. We noticed that a lot of things were half price which we thought was just for Halloween but were told that it’s every Tuesday! Was busy but we will definitely be back to take advantage!

I was waiting for the bus out front. Tried the Packhorse only because the 441 bus driver blew past me without stopping.

Avoid this place like the plague. Manager and staff can not handle high volume of customers. Waited for an hour for a burger. If I was a manager I would be ashamed. Staff knowledge and speed of service rubbish. University should come and revoke the lease.Tables out front need to be jet washed with grime all over. Watched three groups of five people walk out after waiting in line for ages just for a drink. Atmosphere given five as everyone’s laughing at how long it is taking to be served. Great little student spot that is open to everyone, on different days of the week they have specials on like £2 a drink (we are talking Premium Spirits and Beers) also the food is ok, some days it’s £5 for a burger or a Pizza. The Shisha in the back garden is great as well, not too expensive.

pizza was £12, cold when it came, bbq so overpowering that it was sweeter than a dessert and all slippery so toppings just slide off. khara.

Simple bar and food, run by students, mainly for students at RHUL but open to the public. Good prices although better ale choice would be appreciated.

Monday quickie after shopping. Quiet but pleasant. Tues 2-4-1 cocktails & being nr Uni busy on wk ends. Not cheap but worth a visit

The gluten free pizza was very good (not often the case in many places). It took a while, because of the extra anti-allergen protocols - very reassuring for coeliacs! Good choice of burgers, almost all with veggie option. Overall food was pretty good. The gender neutral toilets were a not of such a high quality. They weren't particularly clean when I visited, and need some repairs....

Great atmosphere. The quiz on Sundays is always a sweet treat at the end of the week. Staff are really nice. Just a little pricey for what I'd expect, but it's a great place for uni students nonetheless.

Having attended this establishment all year, the only good thing I can say about it is the £2 pints at Happy Hour (5pm-8pm) and the chicken bites. An interaction today summed the service up, I went to the bar at 7.55pm hoping for 2 more drinks at the Happy Hour price but when served at 8pm (on the dot) was charged £7.60 because the system "sets the prices", I mean come on? Where is the common sense? Where is reason? I am local to this pub attending 1x or 2x a week for 10 months and the staff had no idea, I declined the £7.60 drinks out of frustration. For reference, pizzas are cooked from frozen and not worth £10+ at all, starter dishes are shocking value for money and the drinks are the only thing worth the ambience during Happy Hour.

Served me raw beef and served my partner raw chicken. The chicken is totally unacceptable as much as I can stand the beef. Asked to put back on the grill, came back and was raw again!

Very quick service with friendly staff and decent food if you get in there before ten. Very reasonable prices and a good selection of drinks. Nice atmosphere as well and a decent seating area make for a really good experience.

Had some food here and it was great. Really good quality. All sourced locally too. Staff are excellent and since changing thier name and ownership it has seen some great improvements. They also have a working fire which was a really good feature that creates a great vibe and atmosphere

Modern pub on a busy main road. No real ale, only keg beers. Modern decor. Large comfortable arm chairs and bench seating. small car park. sports channels on TV.

We visited today as we had an appointment at the University. Extremely friendly staff, made to feel very welcome. Lovely drinks and food ( just my daughter ate) , we had coffees. Very clean , good location . Thank you so much to the lovely young lady we met today :)

Awful place for a night of drinking. Slow service (20-30min waits), zero atmosphere, and pretty bad management system (several servers hanging around doing ???). If I could give 0 stars I would.

The Packhorse, or as it was called before the Monkey's forehead, is an amazing destination for a night out. There is a different event on every day of the week, but everyone knows that Two for Tuesday is the best deal you can get! The food there is great too! I would definitely recommend

With all the sad, bad reviews you would think that someone in charge would sit up and take notice. Maybe they need training in management. Please train your staff properly in customer service and bar tending. Also the damp in the gender neutral toilet will be damaging the fabric of the building (if it hasn’t already). You need to put a bit of investment and effort in to improve your ratings. It isn’t difficult.

One of the best places in the vicinity for a good hangout after office or college

I visited the Packhorse last week for lunch, and was very disappointed. The pub was recommended by a work colleague but I shall not be recommending it to anyone. The pub was large and good size but decor was shabby and poor. It feels like we were in a school canteen, with bench seats. Food was very slow to arrive, taken 50mins. When we chased it was because we were a large table of 6! When it eventually came out, 🍟 chips accompanying the burgers were cold! My Thai green was bland and tasteless. It was Cleary a microwave meal made for non-Thai pallet. We drove out of Egham and wasted our lunchtime, not worth a visit, for £9.75 for my inauthentic Thai curry.

Food was awful. 15 minutes at bar to order when it turned up it was Greasy, microwaved and cold.

The former Monkey's Forehead was a good pub, until destroyed by a greedy and faceless Student's Union. The refurb was nice on the aesthetic side; but completely terrible value for money, service and the management is shambolic. Not to mention; the food is RANSID and overpriced. Poorly presented, poor quality, it begs the question does the Chef shop at the Iceland party food aisle? A starved fox would turn its nose up at this pure vomit on a plate. Staff are misguided, poorly trained and evidently left to just improvise without proper guidance. Atmosphere is dead - clarity and explanation for improper signing/false advertising is nil from staff. Toilets are grubby, the place is uncomfortable, staff are painfully slow & evidently underpaid & undertrained. Whoever is managing the Packhorse couldn't manage a dead fish - abysmal. It's evident the poor students are paid rubbish to simply stand and hope for the best without any proper training for customer service, efficient working or handling a group. Not their fault individually by any means. Avoid at all costs! The only reason you should ever drag yourself here, if is you're a local student and are meeting someone for 1 or 2 pints (max).
