The Oxford Pub, Rochdale in Rochdale

From the moment I stepped inside, there was a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The real highlight of my visit, however, was the lovely food. Each dish that came out of the kitchen was clearly prepared with care and attention to detail. The quality of the ingredients shone through, and the flavours were absolutely delicious. Whether you're after a classic pub favourite or something a little more special, The Oxford Pub seems to have something to satisfy every palate. Adding to the positive experience was the good portion size. I certainly didn't leave feeling hungry! It was refreshing to receive a substantial and satisfying meal that offered excellent value for money.

Great local pub/restaurant, very much part of the Rochdale social scene. Excellent special events.

Called today with my daughter and my dog, a lovely day, luckily weather was beautiful as would love to go back in an evening but unfortunately i can't as my little dog goes everywhere with me so only criticism i can possibly say it that there is nowhere allowed inside for a dog even on the hard flooring. Even though staff and others made a fuss of her, but do totally understand not everyone wishes for dogs but feel this a real shame if only could be allocated to a certain part of the pub. So thought full though a water barrel outside so you can fill up various dog bowls dotted around never ever seen this anywhere else excellent. Unsure if was landlord behind the bar but so nice and genuine also so helpful I myself had a real ale a pale ale straight away i noticed how clear this pint was, pure clear golden colour tasted it immediately and was blown away so smooth i commented to the gentleman behind the bar at the time regarding just how good it was the only shame was i could not sample another one as had to drive later so wish now i had taken a note of which ale this was. Waitress lovely full of smiles and also asked the most important thing... How was your meal... To me that is what i always look out for. In my words a proper place lovely inside and out, not one cigarette end to be seen outside which to myself shows how a place should me, very clean and one of the best pub lunches i have had in ages. The food we had my daughter.. Salt and Pepper Chicken she has had this before i tried it was perfect with a twist also, myself was The Fish Basket. I never usually go for a fish dish when dinning out always a meat person, but gentleman behind the bar recommended this so glad i did. The quality of the haddock, scampi, prawns ...to die for. Cooked to perfection A truly genuine review , To cut short can only be described as exceptional, thank you so much. Just one thing i ask please consider a dogs corner, as can only return in warm weather outside. I feel so bad not mentioning to owners how happy i was with my experience regarding today as usually i always return my glasses to the bar but as i had my dog i did not wish to do this, as i always notice regarding other places how glasses and plates are left at tables when people leave .... I watched this here and certainly this does not happen here, as always kept my eye on hospitality and this place is second to none and in these difficult times in this sector this is the way a pub restaurant should be run. Second time my mum and I have been. And we will definitely be back again. Tom served us, and he was so attentive and hilarious. I love the question of the week. The food is so delicious and such good value for money.

First visit and will definitely be back. Staff really warm and welcoming and steak was cooked to perfection. Liked the message on the menu about tips and children! Worded really well and a nice touch.

The place was recommended as a good place to eat. We booked and turned up on time, the place was busy. Shown to our table which had minimal room between the 2 tables near us. Drinks served quickly, food order placed, all seemed well. 1 hour later no sign of the food, I asked a server if our food would be coming soon. The original server came to us, he hadn’t put the order in. We left. Why has such bad service seemed to become the norm?

Yet again another excellent meal at the Oxford. The food is freshly prepared for you so always good. Can't fault the service from the attentive staff either. Definitely recommend the liver and onions which will upset you vegan softys out there.

Since starting our little family we rarely venture out for a family meal. This evening we celebrated our early Xmas meal as a family of 3 (we go abroad for Xmas day) and we loved it. Great atmosphere, great food and great drinks. Staff so welcoming and accommodating. I'd recommend to anyone.

Visited for a Christmas lunch with around 20 others . Best restaurant Turkey dinner I've had. Plenty of other dishes to choose from as well . Everyone happy.

We had seen an article in the manchester evening news online, saying about the pubs christmas market they have. We decided to book a table for sunday lunch and support their market with a visit. Luckily the bad weather didnt spoil things. The staff were lovely, service brilliant and food amazing. Their crispy kale, wow!! Im glad we took the effort and drive over from west yorks. Highly recommended for food. I felt pretty hungry and had their mega sunday dinner.

Had a lovely meal here today. Came for the first time upon recommendation. Had vegan beef Dahl with dumplings which was very autumnal warming and delicious. And a beautiful vegan cheesecake with orange sorbet. Received great service too. We will be visiting again would be great to see more than 2 vegan options.

Amazing meal! We had the Mega Sunday Roast. The beef was lovely and pink and so tender it melted in your mouth. Sticky toffee pudding and the key lime pie dessert was the best. Great service and will definitely be back.

Visited on a Tuesday lunchtime. The place was less busy with it being early in the week. The young guy serving us was very attentive and friendly. Food was excellent - cheese pie for me again! - and plentiful. Two of the party tried the baileys sundae and loved it. A real gem in Rochdale and one of a handful of food led pubs that I would recommend.

Incredible standard of food with the most welcoming staff and atmosphere. The summer special seafood platters are definitely superior to similar food I've experienced in many UK seaside spots and restaurants. It's just marvellous! The standard and quality of Oxford's regular menus are also way above the general standard of many pubs claiming to offer the 'best' home cooked food. I'm a good cook myself and very fussy about paying for food that I often feel I can produce better at home. But when I visit 'The Oxford', I feel relaxed and confident that I am getting a really welcome and high-quality treat. Their 'specials' are always different and extensive, which makes the menu even more exciting. This review is not based on a one-off visit, but due to family circumstances, we visit regularly every fortnight. One of our family is also gluten intolerant, and one of the main reasons we come here is because he is always given a decent and imaginative choice of food. The quality is always consistent, which says a great deal about the standards and expectations set by the excellent hosts/owners and the lovely staff they employ. Highly recommended experience. Definitely go and try it... but if it's Friday or the weekend... book to avoid disappointment! Well done, Team McNeeney!

We visited The Oxford on a Friday evening, they managed to squeeze us in, and we had one of the best meals we have in ages! We have been going on and off for a number of years now (we visit relatives in Rochdale) and have never been disappointed. The pub is warm, cosy and welcoming, atmosphere is so relaxed and the food is always gorgeous! In the summer, the garden is just perfect for an evening drink and a bite to eat! The staff are absolutely spot on with the service. I had crispy chicken to start, sea basket for main, others had burgers, beef salad and puddings cheese cake and key lime pie! All of it perfect. This day and age when it’s not cheap to eat out, this was worth every single penny. Thank you to the Oxford. We will be back. 😀

Lovely food, great service will definitely be back to try other items on the menus. We had a special of cod loin and mussels on a bed of spaghetti and the home made cheese and onion pie. It may be classed as good old pub grub but this is restaurant quality food and service.

Ate here for the first time today. Absolutely beautiful The pub inside is super nice and warm and welcoming. The staff are friendly and attentive We had the garlic bread starter with crispy chicken wings. Divine! We then had the Caesar salad and fish and chips with curry sauce which was delicious. Highly recommended 🥰

What a great spot it’s good to see a local buissness so busy the food was fabulous I and my son in law had the seafood and daughter had scampi we followed it with key lime cheese cake all the food was sooo fresh and beautifully presented and at a good price the atphospere was really good this was my first visit even though I live reasonably local I will definitely be returning who needs to go to Manchester let’s support local buissness oh yeah the staff where great too.

Turned up late, kept the kitchen open for us, food was belting, the cheese and onion pie is out of this world, very friendly place. Definitely going back, thanks guys.

always love the food here but unfortunately the last few times have been disappointing due to the very slow service. i understand you are v busy (as you should be!) but there are too many tables for so few staff, we waited ages to put in a drink order (would have been better to ask us when we were seated) and then longer to order food and eventually receive it. then even longer to get the bill and the server didn’t notice we were ready to pay with our card out, it is just the little things that could’ve sped up our time there! and freed up another table for more customers :) anyway we will still look forward to coming back just hoping for a quicker visit :)

Booked in with family looking forward to a Sunday lunch, unfortunately they had stopped doing Sunday roasts 2 weeks previously. My wife ordered a steak, well done, but was disappointed as it came medium. Staff are friendly, lovely garden a nice traditional interior to the pub.

Yet again another excellent meal at the Oxford. Great food which is freshly prepared so sometimes there's a wait. Which we're not bothered about. Good choice on the new menu. Staff are very polite and experienced. The pub is very nice and modern inside. Very bright and cheerful. There's a large beer garden to the rear. You can take your dog there but not inside the pub. Large car park to the side. Definitely one to try.

Went bank hol Monday, was busy but food was great. I had the fish and chips and my friend the fish basket. We enjoyed the food as usual.

Visited last night for celebratory meal. Absolutely gorgeous food, served by very friendly staff in a lovely atmosphere. Can't recommend highly enough. All tables taken on a Wednesday night, that speaks for itself.👍🏻👏🥰

A great spot for something a little different. Always has something wonderful to choose on the menu, always tasty and well presented. You just know a lot of effort goes into everything the staff and owners do. An excellent selection of drinks, if you can fight your way to the bar past the cliquey locals. Not the cheapest place, but hey, you get what you pay for and I have no qualms about the price, as the experience is always first rate. Keep at it please, we will see you soon.

Went with friends (5 )for a birthday meal , had trouble getting taxis ( Ramadan ding dong Ramadan ding ding dong) phone and explained not a problem kept kitchen open , food was plentiful and nice 😀 background music was absolutely spot on , for 5 of us meals drinks including bottles of wine 🍷 was not as expensive as other places we've been ,, give it a go you.ll be surprised phone 1st though not sure about walk ins

Having never been before I had an open mind on what to expect! I certainly wasn’t disappointed with the whole experience. On arrival the staff were attentive and our table was ready for us. The food was amazing and more than enough to please the hungry diner. The quality of both the food and the service was second to none with everything cooked spot on. I went with an open mind and left looking forward to my return visit in the very near future. Well done the Oxford team.

We live close by and come maybe once a month. Alwsys a welcoming atmosphere but last night excelled. Served by two young guys who were impeccable and friendly. The beer and food were superb and the prices are fair. Stuffed jalapeno wrapped in bacon was great and the steak rossini special. We bring a friend who is in his 90’s with us and the small plates are spot on for him. Can thoroughly recommend!

I come here with friends who live in Rochdale . It’s a great pub with a lovely atmosphere and the staff are fabulous .Last time I had the chilli brisket which was outstanding and the Cherry Bakewell cheesecake with amaretto ice cream and white chocolate sauce which was quite simply one of the most delicious deserts I have ever had !

To be honest our visit was a little bit disappointing, maybe it was as a result of the January blues. We brought along another couple and hoped to impress them. It was a midweek lunchtime. The room itself was very cold despite the open fire being lit, we kept our coats on throughout the lunchtime visit, that in itself isnt something you expect to have to do. The waiter took our drinks order but failed to return to take our food order so after a while we had to call him over ( food service stops at 2pm). I ordered liver and onions and the liver was very tough, the meal itself could have been warmer also. We asked for a desert menu but the waiter failed to bring it, we again reminded him after a lengthy wait. The dining room wad less than half full.The deserts were priced at £7.50p each which seemed a bit expensive so we decided not to bother. The other three people in our party all enjoyed their meals.

The Oxford is a lovely, cosy pub restaurant with loads of atmosphere. I had the cheese and onion pie meal from the small plates menu which is a great idea for people who are not big eaters or want to make room to have a dessert afterwards. There is a separate vegan menu so they are well catered for. The staff were friendly and looked after us very well. I certainly would come back again
