The Wine Press in Rochdale

The Wine Press is a cozy welcoming spot by the heart of the famous Hollingworth lake that offers comforting, classic dishes and great ambience. I had the traditional Haddock & chips alongside a refreshing beer. Service was absolutely one of the best I had ever had as the staff not only checked up on us regularly but they also recommended the best food & drinks to complement our night. Highly recommend.

Lunch was fantastic as was the service. My brothers and I all agreed that Natalie made our lunch a fantastic experience and we will be returning very soon

Lovely restaurant surrounded by scenic surroundings. We visited here last month with all of the family, some had travelled from the north east. We enjoyed our visit from start to finish. The food was good, and the service was wonderful, friendly and obliging. This is one of my favourite places. Definitely recommend a visit. Thank you

Really lovely pub sat outside with family across from the lake. Had a few drinks and the little one had an ice cream from the van outside. We will return.

Food was not the best and very overpriced, this place has gone very downhill. Staff were rude and food hygiene is a 2 🤮🤮🤮. Very disappointing.

Good locals pub. Welcoming staff. Excellent choice of beers, wine and cocktails. Not eaten here for a long time but the food always looks and smells great. The views of Hollingworth Lake are stunning, especially in sunny days when the sailing club have yatchs out. What's not to like?

Had a lovely cuppa this morning at The Wine Press this morning. Vinny served me with some extra milk and tea outside and was very helpful and pleasant, fantastic customer service . Great place, great staff, fabulous views.

I love this place food is always good 3 courses Sunday for 16 pound can get better anywhere dogs always welcome

Had lunch yesterday, the food was very good and tasty, the staff were very attentive and friendly and most of all the price was very reasonable, it makes a change from being ripped off at other eating establishments, would highly recommend.

Love Hollingworth lake and Lovely views especially when the sun is out, but been hundreds of times and never had a clean glass yet.

Busy location, popular with well behaved bikers, families and couples. We were there only for drinks.

The lake is great, the motorcycles were amazing. Had a beer outside on a nice day with the family. Great day out. However 5.50 for a pint was steep, good pint of ipa though.

Lovely pub overlooking Hollingworth Lake. My partner and I had a meal here a few days ago. I had grilled bass, sautéed potatoes, tenderstem broccoli in a garlic butter sauce, and my partner had steak and chips. We both thoroughly enjoyed the food. The grilled bass was cooked perfectly. Friendly service, decent prices, clean and a welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely recommend 😊👍

We had a wonderful evening in the upstairs function room. The staff were so friendly and couldn't have been more helpful.The DJ played all night, judging the music for his audience very well. The food was also very good, a nice variety on offer. We had a fantastic party for my Mum's 95th birthday. Thank You.

Lovely location. Lamb shank delicious, meat fell off the bone. Chicken and chorizo nice but would have liked sauce on the side rather than over the chicken. Just a personal choice. Lovely view over the lake whilst eating. Even nice in the rain.

Food below average really, quite disappointing. A good selection of cocktails which are reasonably priced. Service was good but probably wouldn’t go again.

Very Nice place to go on a Sunny Day and sit with a drink over looking the lake, Motorcycles have there own parking bay at the front. The Food is exceptional and the staff are very friendly and helpful, Very nice inside as well if the weather turns.

A half way meeting place for relatives in Lancashire and Yorkshire Food a bit hit and miss Don't order the whale, sorry fish and chips unless you are absolutely starving, it was marvellous, but SO big My minute steak unfortunately was well overdone and I couldn't eat it Views stunning, pub cosy, inviting and friendly Defo will visit again they deserve a second chance

We had a lovely visit to the wine press yesterday. It had a really nice buzz to the place! They are trialing new cocktails which are delicious. Even though it was busy the staff were very attentive. It can be a little expensive but worth every penny.

The service was great! The soup was delicious my husbands meal was delicious only a couple of things let us both down and that was the chips/ Fries , they tasted like they had been reheated more than once, which was a bit disappointing, I had to clear the many crumbs off my seat before sitting down, if they could address these 2 issues they would be near perfect

I met my Mother there for a belated Mothers Day lunch. The lady serving us, who may have been Italian, was absolutely superb, as was the food. The spacious pub is beautifully decorated, and all in all it's reasonably priced. It could have been a little bit warmer in there, but it is an incredibly large open space, and this didn't detract from the enjoyment of our time spent there. The sweet potato fries are to die for, too.

Called in for a pint of White Witch on our walk around Hollingworth Lake and Smithy Bridge. Well kept ale and friendly service! Food not sampled so can't comment, but plates brought out for other customers looked tempting!

Great food value for money lovely atmosphere, I would have a section for dogs, quite a few in when I went barking, knocking water bowls over, not great.

Called in on Saturday afternoon 02/03/24 about 4pm for a few drinks and some food. Lovely pub so can't complain but was put off ordering food by a table of 6 dining where she had 2 spaniels sat on the window sill and started feeding the dogs off her dining fork. Absolutely disgusting behaviour in a public house. I was rather hoping a member of staff would have asked her to stop it, but nobody seemed to notice or care.

We came here just because we happened to be passing by and I'm glad we did. Very Lovely staff especialy the lady we spoke to at the bar when paying. I was surprised at the bill because of how reasonable the price was, me and my partner both had the rag pudding and it was delicious staff was happy to swap my chips for mash. The veg cooked to perfection 👌 had a long island iced tea and partner had a coke. 10/10 would recommend and will certainly be returning.

Been before and had another great experience. Reception was friendly and efficient, seated quickly and a lovely menu. We chose ribs and halumi starters and sea bass mains. The portions were very large, well cooked and extremely tasty. Great place to eat after a brisk walk on Blackstone Edge!

No disabled ramp access at main door. Have to enter by a side entrance to lounge at front and dining area by rear of the pub. Knock knock can I come in. How degrading .No accessible toilet. Stairs to dining room. Only 1 disabled parking space on car park not clearly marked resulting in no one leaving it for disabled people. Dogs and bikers are made more welcome.

Both had 3 courses and the food was excellent, have no complaints at all, service good and staff very helpful. Prompt with serving us and the food portion were very good. We had garlic mushrooms, garlic ciabatta, peppery chicken and sausage and mash. Price of food was about right, sweets were a little expensive for what we got a cheesecake at £5.95. Reason for 3 star, is small car park, and why is a pint of coke £3.50, and alcohol free lager £4. Would I come back, probably I would but the price of drinks may put me off

Our sunday lunch was mixed at best. All the meals but one turned up together and some 10 mins later the last meal arrived. Fortunately the others did not wait to start eating but despite this one of the meals was cold. During the meal the glasses piled up and the plates hung around well after the main meal had been eaten. It felt like the staff where a combination of over worked and under caring. On the plus side the roast lamb was tasty and it's a dog friendly pub.

We arrived at our chosen destination to have some drinks they then discarded our needs and appallingly turned us away due to our age ,this disregards our right to the equalities act 2010.Will not be coming here again!

This restraunt used absolutely discraseful manners when speaking towards me and my peers. We came to celebrate my friends birthday, but was rudely turned away a whole 2 hours before closing time due to our appearances and age. I am absolutely appalled with this establishment and expect an apology for me and my friends. Absolutely disgusting manners. DON’T COME HERE!

Had xmas meal with friends. DJ playing with dancingtill late, food good with Xmas menu. Staff were fabulous.

First time visiting this place, great setting by the lake but the food and service was also great. Will definitely go back.

Went with our family for lunch (10 people ) The drinks were expensive but the food was nice and we had a lovely time . However when the bill came ( nearly 200 £ ) I was very surprised to find that 10 percent ( in this case 20 £ ) had been added ( apparently when you book a table for more than 4 it is what they do ) Not happy at all so please be warned . The car park far too small and not supervised so all the dog walkers park there and then don’t go into the pub at all . Nice location by the lake but won’t be going back because of the sneaky surcharge ( I had already tipped the very helpful waiter separately)

Lovely pub on the lake front. Popular with the biking community. Walkers and family's. Very good food menu. Can be a bit pricey. Worth a visit.. Can be a bit hit and miss on bar service. Lots of staff but no one serving behind the bar is common. Very popular with us bikers and lots of families after a walk around the lake. Family and dog friendly. This is not by any stretch of the imagination a gastro pub. It is however expensive and average. Especially when compared to other local businesses. Your paying for a view and location not Posh Restaurant food. It's simply average.

Came here for my birthday lunch, lovely view of Hollingworth lake. Came in and asked for a table of 3 with my small dog, immediately pushed to the other side of the restaurant which is dog friendly, that’s fine if the waitress wasn’t so rude about it, she seemed disappointed. Otherwise food was ok and came at a reasonable time.

The food was ok, not amazing, but mostly edible. Our main issue was that the desserts were prepared in view of customers. I watched the waitress scoop out the ice cream, drop it and pick it up with her hands and drop it in the dish. She then squirted aerosol cream on it when the menu stated 'hand whipped cream'. Obviously I sent it back. You have to wonder if they're happy to do this in front of you, what goes on where you can't see in the kitchen?? There were 17 of us and the meals all came out together. Parking is very limited. Very unlikely to return

My starter was frozen- vegetable spring roll. Frozen inside but hot outside. I took it back, I would imagine the chef checkers the temperature like I had, but I was brought back the same plate. Warmed up in the microwave clearly. I also had a Sunday roast dinner. Awful. My husband’s food was very average.

My daughter had her 40th birthday celebration in the wine press they done so well the staff so friendly and helpful and food was so excellent the best ever I always will say they deserve a gold medal 🏅 🥇 we will come back again thanks for everything u done all
