The Wine Press in Rochdale

Enjoyed a fairly good lunch this week with friends. My only criticism is that the cheese and onion pie was overcooked and the portion was quite small considering the price.

Fantastic. Place was very good with me as I had 2 noisy toddlers. They couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Food was absolutely stunning. Only one snag would be that the server really did smell of stale smoke but that's not to take anything away from the experience it was great.

1/10 only good thing was the bottle of old mout cider. Dog friendly but people moving away from us (sausage dog who sat in silence) steak ciabatta came on a bread roll and was a like a tough dry piece of beef rather than any kind of steak. Food also came in around 3 minutes which tells me it's was all just heated up.

Didn't rate. Dog friendly although people move cos we had dogs with us. Steak sandwich was actually a 0/10, chips undercooked. Really disappointed as reviews looked great but food was honestly awful

Came here yesterday after spending a few hours at Hebden Bridge . Decided to try this place as opposite the lake . We both had chicken strips and chips which I would recommend . Decent portion for price , quick service and didn’t struggle for a table so with it being a last minute decision so glad we managed to get in . Prices quite good and variety on menu . Will come back again . There is parking but suppose this could be limited at time but we had no issues .

Great views and a perfect stop off on the way around Hollingworth Lake. Also popular with bikers, especially at weekends, with plenty of parking at the front of the pub by the ample outdoor seating and tables. Staff are friendly and efficient and the prices are the same as you'd expect to pay at any similar place.

Very bland Katsu curry. Cracking rag pudding

Great for a few drinks in the sun looking at Hollingworth Lake. Food is OK nothing mega to shout about. The best bit by far is the location. Its busy on a nice day.

This is the first time we've been here but it won't be the last, decided to try this place for a change as we wanted a payday treat. The waitresses were very attentive considering how busy it was, inside is nicely decorated, looks to have had a refubishment from some of the previous pictures. I ordered the seabass which came with a lovely light butter sauce and vegetables and my partner ordered the rag pudding, both meals were delicious but the star had to go to the chips, they were huge and fluffy, so big in fact that my partner needed to cut them in half to eat. We'll definitely be back there soon

A shining light of hospitality right on the lake front. Gorgeous sundown views over the lake and the rowers and the geese. Wicked double espresso with a shot of vodka, decent enough espresso martini, surprisingly poor wines by the glass considering the prices - £7.60 for a large serve of an extremely mediocre Argentinian Malbec I certainly wouldn't expect to pay more than £6 at the supermarket. But it doesn't actually matter. It's such a refreshing and welcoming place in the middle of a long hike, lovely young Italian staff at the bar (from Napoli), extremely accommodating. Highly recommend it.

Rib eye stake was really tender cooked med/rare.

Only popped in for a quick drink but I have been a few times. The food is lovely. Average prices. Clean and tidy with friendly service.

After a lovely walk round the lake we stopped here for something to eat we both got ploughman's lunch.we both looked at each other when we saw the generous portions of cheese on there. everything was really good right down to the lovely toasted bread.the only thing missing I would say to give it 10/10 would be to add a bit of colour would be a wedge of tomato a twist of cucumber and a wedge of apple perfect!

Food was nothing special, a bit bland. Service was almost self service. Ok it was a Monday, but it was quiet with no atmosphere.

The Wine Press is a cozy welcoming spot by the heart of the famous Hollingworth lake that offers comforting, classic dishes and great ambience. I had the traditional Haddock & chips alongside a refreshing beer. Service was absolutely one of the best I had ever had as the staff not only checked up on us regularly but they also recommended the best food & drinks to complement our night. Highly recommend.

Lunch was fantastic as was the service. My brothers and I all agreed that Natalie made our lunch a fantastic experience and we will be returning very soon

Lovely restaurant surrounded by scenic surroundings. We visited here last month with all of the family, some had travelled from the north east. We enjoyed our visit from start to finish. The food was good, and the service was wonderful, friendly and obliging. This is one of my favourite places. Definitely recommend a visit. Thank you

Really lovely pub sat outside with family across from the lake. Had a few drinks and the little one had an ice cream from the van outside. We will return.

Food was not the best and very overpriced, this place has gone very downhill. Staff were rude and food hygiene is a 2 🤮🤮🤮. Very disappointing.

Good locals pub. Welcoming staff. Excellent choice of beers, wine and cocktails. Not eaten here for a long time but the food always looks and smells great. The views of Hollingworth Lake are stunning, especially in sunny days when the sailing club have yatchs out. What's not to like?

Had a lovely cuppa this morning at The Wine Press this morning. Vinny served me with some extra milk and tea outside and was very helpful and pleasant, fantastic customer service . Great place, great staff, fabulous views.

Had lunch yesterday, the food was very good and tasty, the staff were very attentive and friendly and most of all the price was very reasonable, it makes a change from being ripped off at other eating establishments, would highly recommend.

Busy location, popular with well behaved bikers, families and couples. We were there only for drinks.

The lake is great, the motorcycles were amazing. Had a beer outside on a nice day with the family. Great day out. However 5.50 for a pint was steep, good pint of ipa though.

Lovely pub overlooking Hollingworth Lake. My partner and I had a meal here a few days ago. I had grilled bass, sautéed potatoes, tenderstem broccoli in a garlic butter sauce, and my partner had steak and chips. We both thoroughly enjoyed the food. The grilled bass was cooked perfectly. Friendly service, decent prices, clean and a welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely recommend 😊👍

We had a wonderful evening in the upstairs function room. The staff were so friendly and couldn't have been more helpful.The DJ played all night, judging the music for his audience very well. The food was also very good, a nice variety on offer. We had a fantastic party for my Mum's 95th birthday. Thank You.

Lovely location. Lamb shank delicious, meat fell off the bone. Chicken and chorizo nice but would have liked sauce on the side rather than over the chicken. Just a personal choice. Lovely view over the lake whilst eating. Even nice in the rain.

Food below average really, quite disappointing. A good selection of cocktails which are reasonably priced. Service was good but probably wouldn’t go again.

Very Nice place to go on a Sunny Day and sit with a drink over looking the lake, Motorcycles have there own parking bay at the front. The Food is exceptional and the staff are very friendly and helpful, Very nice inside as well if the weather turns.

A half way meeting place for relatives in Lancashire and Yorkshire Food a bit hit and miss Don't order the whale, sorry fish and chips unless you are absolutely starving, it was marvellous, but SO big My minute steak unfortunately was well overdone and I couldn't eat it Views stunning, pub cosy, inviting and friendly Defo will visit again they deserve a second chance

We had a lovely visit to the wine press yesterday. It had a really nice buzz to the place! They are trialing new cocktails which are delicious. Even though it was busy the staff were very attentive. It can be a little expensive but worth every penny.

Nice place to sit in the sun, with a view of the lake and a pint. Food is good too.

The service was great! The soup was delicious my husbands meal was delicious only a couple of things let us both down and that was the chips/ Fries , they tasted like they had been reheated more than once, which was a bit disappointing, I had to clear the many crumbs off my seat before sitting down, if they could address these 2 issues they would be near perfect

I met my Mother there for a belated Mothers Day lunch. The lady serving us, who may have been Italian, was absolutely superb, as was the food. The spacious pub is beautifully decorated, and all in all it's reasonably priced. It could have been a little bit warmer in there, but it is an incredibly large open space, and this didn't detract from the enjoyment of our time spent there. The sweet potato fries are to die for, too.

Called in for a pint of White Witch on our walk around Hollingworth Lake and Smithy Bridge. Well kept ale and friendly service! Food not sampled so can't comment, but plates brought out for other customers looked tempting!

Great food value for money lovely atmosphere, I would have a section for dogs, quite a few in when I went barking, knocking water bowls over, not great.

Called in on Saturday afternoon 02/03/24 about 4pm for a few drinks and some food. Lovely pub so can't complain but was put off ordering food by a table of 6 dining where she had 2 spaniels sat on the window sill and started feeding the dogs off her dining fork. Absolutely disgusting behaviour in a public house. I was rather hoping a member of staff would have asked her to stop it, but nobody seemed to notice or care.

We came here just because we happened to be passing by and I'm glad we did. Very Lovely staff especialy the lady we spoke to at the bar when paying. I was surprised at the bill because of how reasonable the price was, me and my partner both had the rag pudding and it was delicious staff was happy to swap my chips for mash. The veg cooked to perfection 👌 had a long island iced tea and partner had a coke. 10/10 would recommend and will certainly be returning.

Been before and had another great experience. Reception was friendly and efficient, seated quickly and a lovely menu. We chose ribs and halumi starters and sea bass mains. The portions were very large, well cooked and extremely tasty. Great place to eat after a brisk walk on Blackstone Edge!

No disabled ramp access at main door. Have to enter by a side entrance to lounge at front and dining area by rear of the pub. Knock knock can I come in. How degrading .No accessible toilet. Stairs to dining room. Only 1 disabled parking space on car park not clearly marked resulting in no one leaving it for disabled people. Dogs and bikers are made more welcome.

Quality food and drink idea date night pub

Really good value and excellent service. Definitely recommend the Lancashire Rag Pudding and Steak and Mushroom pie. Both tasted home cooked as well!

Both had 3 courses and the food was excellent, have no complaints at all, service good and staff very helpful. Prompt with serving us and the food portion were very good. We had garlic mushrooms, garlic ciabatta, peppery chicken and sausage and mash. Price of food was about right, sweets were a little expensive for what we got a cheesecake at £5.95. Reason for 3 star, is small car park, and why is a pint of coke £3.50, and alcohol free lager £4. Would I come back, probably I would but the price of drinks may put me off
