The Owl and Pussycat in Leicester

We visited the Owl and Pussycat pub in Leicester on a Saturday night, and it was very busy, so I wouldn’t recommend it for young children. We ordered poppadums, but unfortunately, no mango chutney was provided—just yogurt and mint sauce and chili sauce, which weren't very appealing. However, we also tried the chili garlic mushrooms, which were really delicious, and the garlic naan was lovely, light, and soft. The mixed veg platter was okay, but the mixed grill platter was absolutely delicious! Overall, it was a lively atmosphere, but the food experience had its ups and downs."

Drinks at the bar had good choices, price ok for the location. Food is average as the dishes are missing flavours and the lamb portion is way too small. I like the bread as it was quite thin (but not for the cost we paid), overall average for me .

I like the atmosphere of this place, this place has a wibe that touches your soul. Honestly i don't like food and service.

Maybe I let the look of the place influence me too much, I was very pleasantly surprised here. Exquisitely cooked curries with tender meat and delicious bread, at a sensible price with a wide selection of lagers. Staff were very friendly. I would happily return!

First time ever going here the food was very nice very flavourful and enjoyable. The service was not bad but had minor issues with plates and cutlery. The pricing was fair around £27 per person with drinks. The food is priced fine the drinks are slightly overpriced. The atmosphere is nice but its a pub at the end of the day so don't be expecting restaurant style atmosphere. Overall good experience will go again. (Perfect for a group of friends going for food and drinks)

Really good tasty quick Indian food. The mix grilled sizzler, lamb chops and fish sizzler were exquisite and affordable - I highly recommend these dishes The restaurant itself was rowdy and full of locals. But don't let this hinder you as the quick service and food outweighs it.

This restaurant is amazing.The food is so delicious and the service is top-notch. They have all your favorite dishes, like biryani Tandoori chiken,butter chicken, and everything tastes just like it should. We will visit again very soon there and you should try here once .

I love most the way staff behaves and serves food with smiley face.Hospitality is delightful with good taste of food. I highly recommend to visit once if you want quality time spent with your family,friends and partner.

Great food, proper pub, what else do you need!

Very much disappointment, I ordered 3 times before, and it was ok but this time the lamb bhuna and paneer tikka masala was to thrown up. So sweet and no flavour at all.. Please stop selling Indian food if you can’t do it.

Amazing food, we went on a Thursday & they had a Thursday thali on which consisted of a starter, a main with rice, salad & naan for £7.95. The portions were just right & I was full. Definitely recommend & will be visiting again.

We have been going.here to eat for a long time and never had any issues till tonight, the service was rubbish, the food was either too salty and tasteless. Even the new manager in place today had no customer service skills what so ever. Please avoid this place, great for drinks but NO more for food, time to find a new place.

Great food and absolutely great service… the only let dow is the loud music, too loud, you can’t talk without having to shout because the music is way too loud

Too expensive for pub food not good vegetarian choices

The food is very much Indian grill and curries. There are tandoori dishes, sizzlers and a few indo Chinese dishes on the menu. They cater for vegans and dietary requirements, you just need to ask. Our group all enjoyed the food. Service is friendly but can be a bit hit and miss as a couple of the waiters are young. The dining area is situated within a pub so expect some noise if there's a band/event going on. Saying that, I'd happily go back to eat again.

Great food, mains were really nice. Ordered the special grill and 3 mains. Lamb rogan was really nice asked for it to be extra spicy. Service was just abit slow. Great selection of draught beers!

2 for 1 cocktails posters on display but couldn't have any as they had none of the ingredients ( really??? None ???)

Visited here recently. The food here wasn’t too bad. It’s one of the rare places where the mains were better than the starters. Unfortunately, though the beer was absolutely awful. In fact, I don’t even think you could call it beer. It was probably more like a cordial. Tried four different beers all draft and every single one was very very watered down. Raise this with the staff there and they said no this does not happen, but unfortunately it obviously does as every single one of our party felt the same way. Really a shame as if the beer was good, I would’ve returned, but now, would not return as it was that bad that it overshadowed the whole experience of a generally pleasant meal

Went to watch the footy. Had to endure kids screaming and playing football with a plastic water bottle Infront of the screen. The food we ordered was pretty dire too

We called on here as a family on the way past for a quick drink. It was a Thursday evening. The welcome was friendly and the atmosphere warm. The Guiness was fresh and tasty and the wife enjoyed the wine she was served.

Been here once before. Curries are quite nice, as are the sides of naan . It is let down by stale poppadom and crisps. Also there toilets are but drab and place could do with a good clean.

Just dropped in on way home walking had a few Worthington instead of larger for a change good service nice pint will go back and try the food 👍

Great place to socialise and the food is delicious

Visited yesterday with work colleagues the place doesn't look very modern but the food was tasty and food service was great the food was served promptly and was hot and tasty will visit again.

Food used to be very tasty but now going downhill

Dated pub and restaurant we went in on a Saturday evening at the end of the month expecting it to be rammed but only 6 guys drinking and 2 couples eating. Food was not what I'm used to maybe it's based on a different area of India? Was pricey for what we had. A real shame as I've wanted to come here for years but sadly won't be returning or recommending Staff were very attentive

I went to try out curry tonight as this was recommended by one of my friend and few of my colleagues, well what can I say the food was delicious 😋, I ordered tandoori chicken wings for starters and butter chicken for my mains. It was so tasty that I even got a take away for tomorrow evening. I would definitely come again for some yummy food and great service.

NOT RECOMMENDED!! Thought we’d give this place a try as new restaurant since end of March. The service was terrible! The place looks very run down on one half & the refurbed side has flickering candle lights which gave us an headache! The food was all served within 5 mins of ordering and was COLD!! Sent this back paid the bill & left. Wont be returning again. Save your money and go elsewhere for proper service, food & clean modern restaurant. Going inside here makes you think you’re back in 1980!

We really enjoyed the food here sizzler was amazing, veggie and the chefs special. We enjoyed the curries aswell not too spicy and perfect amount of flavour. Would come here again

I recently dined at an Indian restaurant and was blown away by the inviting atmosphere. From the moment I walked in, I felt transported to another world. The use of warm colour, intricate decor, and soft lighting really set the tone for a great evening. The staff were friendly and attentive, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. As for the food, it was superb! Each dish was bursting with flavour, and the presentation was impeccable. I highly recommend trying the chicken tikka masala and mixed sizzler - both were outstanding. Really nice food and brilliant staff as they were really helpful as specially Harikesh as help us to choose few dishes like Kadhai Paneer and it was really great and tasty. I would really recommend to visit here with your family or friends.

Greeted by Jay (one of the owners), he was warm and welcoming. The waiting staff were pleasant and attentive. I went for Methi Chicken and oh my days, I struggled to finish everything but felt I had to because it tasted so good. The food was cooked to perfection and the portion size was generous. I’ll deffo come back next time.

Visited here with some friends for a Veg Dishes (especially Veg Grill Platter) to eat and it was amazing!! Service was outstanding and would recommend to anyone who goes to Leicester.

Regular customer been coming here for last 4 years. Gukha curry better than the current chef. Doesn't even know how to make pilau rice (stodgy), chicken korma (doesn't even taste creamy and flavours of coconut), and the chilli chips/ masala chips are actually chilli powder and chips. Won't be eating here again. See the pic of chilli chips and judge for yourself. Hope this review can be taken as positive criticism and hope they can improve on the food quality and portions. Being my local, I want to see them improve so I can eat here again.

The place isn't much to look at but they do good food! Recommend the Lasun Chicken (garlic chicken). Very flavoursome although decor little outdated.

Really polite staff. Lovely bar/pub to get a drink before. Ordered the royal sizzler to start and would say this is some of the best food we’ve eaten. Can’t recommend the Saag Aloo enough and the naan breads are always so fresh! My partner, not from Leicester, said his tikka masala was the best he’d ever had! Lovely food and great value :)

Worst experience. Tacky and need for modernisation. Felt like we were in a third world country. Simple Fish Pakora. Salty and undercooked. Prawn Curry was medioca. Kulfi = Felt like I was drinking Lassi. Pull your fingers out guys.... Come on

This pub has not changed in so many years. The interior is still the same. The carpet, tables and chairs are the same - not sure if the owner wants to keep it authentic or don't want to update. The atmosphere is ok when I visited. Has a true British pub aroma. Was expecting more local beer on tap but they had one local beer and rest was American beer, cider etc. Has the usual snacks ( nuts, crisp etc) . They do have hot food if you want to eat. Did not try it so can't comment. Overall a decent pub.

Ordered a rake away in person. Their veg manchuria was stall and spoilt. Also had their schewan rice and Crispy Auberigine which was reasonable. Tried to contact them on mobile phone as they don't have a landlines to complain and left a message but they never rang g back. Says much about customer care!! Wouldn't order from there again.

Supposed to open at 12:00 went after and was still locked up & no one insight, if you have listed open at 12: 00pm then doors should be open.

Food was really good and portion sizes are large. The meat platter is much better than the veg. They need windows in the restaurant section, it was too hot at times. Overall, we really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere at the bar afterwards was good. Service was excellent.

The food is sooo good. I always judge the quality of the food by the baingan bharta which was really smoky. liked the Friday night pub atmosphere, it was really busy but there were lots of staff running around. Highly recommend the food

Great pub and restaurant. Adequate seating with pool table and darts at the pub side. The restaurant is good too but not as much spacious. Terrible view outside of the window with all the rubble.

Was a regular at Owl....Portions getting smaller. Seems like it's only enough for one. Good job I ordered two dishes. Funny thing is a few months I couldn't even finish half the chilli paneer as sizes were double...must be the rise in oil prices! Not great see before and after pic

Good food and atmosphere. Ordered a main each with 2 naan and 2 rices and a starter to share and that was plenty for 2 hungry gents. The food is tasty and mains are big portions. Starters are a bit on the small side but tasty nonetheless. Service was fast and friendly. Beer is always cold and fresh tasting without any dodgy tastes like you get at some pubs. Got chatting to 2 guys who'd come all the way from London and said how good it was too... so must be good! Keep it up.

Came here with some friends on a recommendation and it was a great night. The food was brilliant, we had the Gurkha meat sizzler to share, aubergine stir fry and chilli paneer for starter. All was piping hot and full of flavour. I had chicken Lasun main with egg fried and roti for the main and was left full. Will be seriously considering coming back when meeting up again.

Beautiful food tasty delicious 😋. Only thing was the sizzlers created so much smoke making people cough. No ventilation.

Celebrating my mum’s big birthday at Gurkha Curry. The food was lovely, very big portions, service was excellent and the room was perfect! we all had a great time. We will come back soon. My family & I would definitely recommend this place. Thanks to Hari & team for a very enjoyable night!

My son went here with his cricket friends and told us how amazing it was - had to try and not dissapointed - fantastic and about to book ( I hope) for a party. Lovely service - plenty of car park space ( I know - how middle aged is that!!
