They are charging for good service not food I had sandwich which is not roasted properly and just spreads little potato masala a sandwich like cheap theater and put name Mumbai sandwich👎

Amazingly delicious food! I have ulcerative colitis, so I often struggle to find mildly spicy dishes, as most Indian restaurants tend to serve very spicy food. However, this place offers the perfect dish, even for someone like me who is a picky eater. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. Highly recommended for all food lovers. Thank you.

Good street food when out and about Leicester. Was in the area with family for sports event and decided to have a bite to eat as it got very late in the evening. Service was very quick, food was hot and yummy. The staff were very helpful and quick to respond, we didn’t need to wait for a second when we needed something. Chole Bhature was amazing. I’ve been a guest of this place since the days of when it was called JALSA. Although the owners have now changed the food here comes highly recommended. Visited with my children which amounted to a table of five but extended family members. Ordered Paneer tikka masala Crispy Bhajia Naan Salty lassi Pani puri Cheese toastie Chilli mogo The team here are extremely accommodating, especially when it came to Catering for children. Food was present and tasted mild - they were happy. We asked for some of the food to be spiced up for adults and it was delicious. The food is delivered really fast and therefore weight times are extremely low The front of house are extremely welcoming and it’s just a great place to dine. Chai Paani comes highly recommended Service from Rahul and Prince was exceptional!

We waited for our turn and we went sent upstairs for seating. We wanted a table of 2 and when we reached they offered us a table which wasn’t great. We asked for another and they said those tables were reserved for 4. And then immediately gave those seats to a couple who were behind us and didn’t have any reservations either. Extremely disappointing behaviour.

Love this place. Its our go to whenever we visit Leicester for vegetarian Indian street food. Staff ate friendly ample seating area including outdoor seating. It is a Hindu owned restaurant however they accommodated us as Muslims with a place to pray at prayer time. In unprecedented times these are the moments that make you realise that the world has more good people than bad. Thank you for a great service and amazing food. They also have toilets.

You can never be disappointed if you eat at this amazing vegetarian restaurant. Food and service is absolutely spot on for what you pay. One of out favourite places in the heart of the Indian golden Mile 💛

The wrost place in Leicester i had ever see ,the owner is very rude and bery bad and once i took a delivery order and he behave in very wrost manner

Have been here a couple of times and enjoyed the poetions of the dishes we ordered. The prices are good, as is the friendly service. It can get quite busy but there is enough space for diners.

Staff was very friendly and supportive Food was good. Sev Puri is not Pani Puri wala Puri, instead it is sev papdi chat kind of thing. Chana in chana (chole) bhatura was extremely tasty. Thali was really worth the money, Lassi was thick and heavy. Limbu pani was okay Parking is nearby in front shiv Shakti foods

Overall the food was good, service was second to none.... Apart from a long strand of hair in my chilli paneer which by no means takes away the quality and hygiene of this place, a mishap can happen it was unfortunate but bravo to the staff for quickly rectifying the situation and even going to the lengths of showing me the kitchen and prep area were all staff had hair nets on and all in uniform.... So this was unfortunate... Will definitely visit again... Jai Hind...

North Indian restaurant with reasonable taste. A bit expensive food.

If you want to have authentic indian food then don’t go here. Very disappointed with the taste of food. Very bland no salt in vadapav, they made it very sweet. Papdi chat and samosa chat was also tasteless. Only masala tea and gobi manchurian was better. Rest everything was bakwas. I did mentioned my feedback to the person who was on the billing counter.

I had a thali, but it was rather bland. The curry was satisfactory, but the Gujarati dal lacked flavor. Not worth the price 💸

I didn't rate this meal: a hodgepodge of vegetables and curry paste that seemed the sort of thing a student would cook in a hurry. However, an Indian colleague was quite happy with this quick, cheap lunch so I may have taken the wrong expectations with me.

My family and I have been coming here for several years and I can honestly say this is one of my favourite places to eat when I'm in Leicester. I love the pau bhaji and the crispy bhajia but other dishes like the samosa chaat, paneer tikki masala and chapattis are also great. I've not had any issues here with the food and staff are so kind. I appreciate everything the staff does to ensure my dad can enter and exit safely. I can not recommend this place enough!

The whole experience was just great. Service and welcoming faces were good to see. The food was equally delicious, the dosa and mango lassi were unforgettable. Wish I could go soon.

Been here 4th time now. It's a great vegetarian restaurant with fast service—your food arrives in about 10-14 minutes. Additionally, thank you, Rahul, for explaining the dishes and providing excellent service.

Went after a long time for lunch with family this month, and we regretted it big time. Prices weren't as good as they used to be (not calue for money, not for what you pay) and my mum threw up (after being ill all afternoon) after having their pau bhaji (definitely something weird going on there). Sorry guys you have lost my custom, not the place it used to be.

We ordered Mango lassi, chai, faloda, Chat, potato pakora, the spicy sandwich are excellent. 1st time visit and won't be the last. Even the tomato chutney was freshly made and not days old or out of a tin. It was busy and got our food hot. I do like food to be on a hot plate, but no doubt some sensitive customers will be offended 😂 5/5👍

Street food restaurant on Belgrave Road, Leicester. Buzzing with activity at lunchtime and yet very quick service. Large seating area in multiple levels. Outdoor seating available. Clean. Nice food. A good pit stop during a day's shopping. The Masala Dosa, Vada Pav and Dahi poori were very good. Service was polite and efficient. Accepts cards, payment at the counter. Would go again.

Food is tasteless.. Service is also not adequate and we have to ask for the water too...

I had eaten here earlier and knew their dosas are good, so without giving a second thought order d 2 masala paneer dosa. The taste was completely bland, dosas were over cooked and very hard, chutneys didn't taste like coconut or tomato and sambar was just like a simple daal

Went to chai pani today for the first time and the food was great… I really enjoyed it. Fantastic service from Veerchand who I think was the manager as he was very organised as well as friendly. Highly recommend this place and its food.

We've been going here for years before it moved to the bigger premises and it just doesn't fail. Great location, good service and always packed with people! A trip to the Golden Mile isn't complete without a visit to Chai Pani!

We’ve been twice to this restaurant now and both times we were shocked by the state of the interior, really dirty, really messy; you will worry that you might be leaving with a stomach ache after eating here; exactly like when you walk into any local restaurant in any of the dense metropolis cities of India. Yet equally like any of the local restaurants you find in any Indian city. The food is absolute bomb! This is by far the best restaurant you will find in Leicester if you’re looking to eat Indian food the likes they make back in India. Highly recommend a million times! The staff are so friendly and the service is top notch.

We've been going here for so many years that it's probably been 2 decades. Same smiling, welcoming owner, same quality (actually getting better) food, same great service. These guys had a tiny shop further along by the lights, always queues and people wanting. Then opened the larger current location and continues to be busy. Favourites are dahi Puri, dahi wara, Pau Baji, chilli Paneer, Manchurian, chilli mogo, chana bathura and of course the passion fruit juice. We always love the tapas feel of being able to order lots of dishes and with quick service and fresh tasting ingredients why would you not order and enjoy as much as you can on a single visit! Keep it going guys for another 2 decades.😁

Earlier this week we took a drive over to Leicester, an hour away, to visit Chai Paani. I picked up the name from a BBC Rick Stein TV programme where he ate a three places in Leicester. We had been to one already & the other was closed on a Tuesday. Three or four times a year the four of us take a drive out of our area to try new places to eat. On arrival the restaurant was very busy, always a good sign, and we had a short wait for a table to be ready. It would have been worth waiting much longer as the food, and the service, was excellent. Like we always do we ordered too much. FOMO was mentioned but for us it was FOMOOIF (fear of missing out on Indian food) When travelling we like to try as much as we can & of course most importantly enjoy it. Everything that we were served looked great and tasted great. The staff were also very good as we always have a few questions before we order. We started with mango lassi & salted lassi then a selection of snacks & starters including samosas, crispy bhajia both served with spicy chilli dips, papdi chat & pani puri. For our mains there was a paneer masala dosa, chat bhatura, and two thaali tiffins. One of which was mine. It was excellent and I wish I could make a soft roti like the ones I was served. Even though we ordered too much, there was nothing left. Great food, great service, great place & very full great company.

We called in on Sunday early evening for a quick bite to eat and were shown to a table straight away, brought menus and our order was taken swiftly and courteously. We thought the service was great and really enjoyed the food. Super tasty Bhel Puri and Masala Dosa along with a Thali. The portions were generous and we thought that the meal was very good value. When we went up to pay the gentleman on the till wanted to know if we enjoyed our meal and thanked us for coming. All in all we were impressed and would certainly go again! As parking near Melton Road can be tricky we used the B&M car park just off the roundabout which appears to be free and has lot of space. Its only a short walk up the road to the restaurant from there.

Amazing customer service and great tasting meal. I absolutely love the masala Dhosa and paneer bhurji. Nice atmosphere, clean with a food hygiene of 5. The waiters also took on board our food preferences. What more could I ask for. Definitely recommend. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I have been to Chai Pani at least ten times and have never been disappointed. If you want tasty yummy spicy authentic Indian street food at a very reasonable price and served super quick then you need to come here. No nonsense approach, stick to basics, no fancy presentation and the staff always have a smile. We are vegetarians and this place is perfect for us. Their Choley bathuras are heavenly, so is the Indo Chinese like Manchurian. In fact hard to criticise any dish. And believe me when they warn you it's spicy IT IS spicy. So if you want to impress someone with fancy decor but rubbish food go to some fancy diner but if you want to have a hearty enjoyable meal which won't break your bank come here without a second thought. For a place like Leicester which is full of authentic Indian eateries their roaring business and returning fan base have a genuine reason. Highly recommended.

Went for an early dinner and service was very slow and we were one of only two tables. Prices were fairly reasonable but food was lacking.

Got a paratha for my daughter and it was still uncooked and raw. We didn't give it back as my daughter had eaten the edges. The pani puri is sweet and the puri is defo microwaved, the masalo is not great. I've had the Mumbai sandwich before from here and it was not great either! The price menu has almost doubled £5 for a toastie! Won't be returning back again.

We chose this restaurant for family dinner because it is purely a vegetarian place and offers a selection of different cuisines. The service was excellent, the food was very tasty and is value for money. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Went for lunch on a Sunday and the place was busy. We were welcomed warmly despite not booking and were given a table for the six of us. Service is quite swift and efficient. This is an all vegetarian restaurant and selection is excellent. The toasties are very good. We had a selection including indo-chinese, dosas and some curries which were of a high standard. Food is all freshly cooked. Prices are reasonable for the quantity served. An excellent experience which we reward witha repeat visit in the future.

Delicious food. We had a Punjabi Samosa and Spicy Potatoe Dosa. The Punjabi Samosa was out of this world. The Dosa was delicious. Definitely recommend the Samosa though, it's a must try. Service was great and thanks to Virchand for the hospitality.

They served cold masala dosa and cold stuffing in Mysore masala dosa. They changed on request but Mysore masala dosa came out similar to wet and soggy wrap with piping hot masala inside. They asked how did I like my dosa, on my feedback, I get a detailed explanation. Sambar was thick daal, no green chutney, coconut chutney had a taste like desiccated coconut mixed with water, all different style of spoon and other cutlery on one table as they can't be asked to bother. Prices are indeed steep for the taste and ambience. Overall, I think I went to a wrong place. My bad!!!!

If you want to authentic Indian food at reasonable cost then come here. From chat to pao bhaji, choke bhature to dosas - everything was simply delicious!! Icing on the cake is the rate at which they serve the food. Our host Harshil Ahir was just brilliant!! Highly recommend this place to all desi food lovers!!

We are visiting Leicester for the second time in two years and we came here both times. It was a really, really good experience, we loved both the Indian as well as the Indo-Chinese dishes. I cannot recommend Chai Paani enough - it's no coincidence it's recently been featured in a Rick Stein episode about excellent food in the Midlands area. We wish we could come more often.

Mid week catch up with friends. Greeted and seated quickly by a friendly waiter. Good taken quickly and drinks arrived swiftly. Ordered a few staters theses arrive quickly too so did one of the mains. Had to ask when the other 2 mains were going to arrived as our friend had already finished her main. When they realised ours had been missed, minutes later they arrived. The food was fresh, flavoursome and delicious. We definitely will return soon.

Outstanding service! My mum is in a wheelchair & as soon as the staff saw her outside the door they all came to help. The staff were so welcoming & were very attentive/friendly throughout.
