Best restaurant on the Melton Road. The Masala Tea is especially exceptional

Been here quite often few times in the past. Food was ok and could be better. Portion size has gone down. It’s dated and the decor needs updating.

I cannot recommend Chai Pani enough, we booked Chai Pani for our Mendhi & Sangeet night and opted for a mexican theme with a wide variety of Mexican dishes - Tacos, Crispy Potato Skins, Nachos, Paneer Tikka Wraps and many more, not forgetting all the food being made and served on live stations to our guests. All of our guests already love Chai Pani but they were still blown away at how beautifully each dish was served with so much flavour and garnishes. The entire Chai Pani team were extremely friendly and helpful - bringing a vibrant energy to our special event. Monil has been extremely attentive, always available to answer any of my questions and ensured each and every one of our guests were happy/satisfied with the food being served. Thank you Monil - you made this experience nothing short of amazing and the food (as always) was delicious! Thank you so so much to the Chai Pani Team - I’m already a regular customer at the Melton Rd restaurant but I will keep you in mind for any future catering events. It’s been an absolute pleasure speaking to the Chai Pani team. I’m sure I will be back at the restaurant very soon!

I have been to Chai Paani most of time along with family. I like the way they welcome . Staff is really good and service is awesome. I have visited this place numbers of time and I am not disappointed even a single time. I highly recommend this place with family and friends

Good food for vegetarians... Bit pricey due to location.. But service is standard. Good atmosphere, clean environment, music not so great.... No parking.

Food was not upto the mark. Paneer chilli served as a paneer sizzler, only difference is it served on sizzler plate. Mysore dosa which was chef's favorite, chutney was so basic no taste at all. May be they have to change the chef. Because they looks busy, they even forget to serve water even after telling to the 3 different people. Not recommended as per the price. Their prices are bit high only because of atmosphere, but as per food you can't pay this much. Thanks

Beautiful eatery serving delectable, mouth-watering Indian dishes which when consumed remind one of the sub-continent. You definitely feel at home, I mean your ancestral home.

recently visited chaipaani and while the food was decent, the attitude of the staff left much to be desired. From the moment we walked in, we were met with indifference. The server barely acknowledged us, and any questions about the menu were met with curt, [*ANKIT*]dismissive answers. It felt like we were more of a burden than valued customers. Simple requests, like refilling water or clarifying an order, were ignored or handled with visible impatience. This kind of attitude overshadowed the entire dining experience. Good service is just as important as good food, and unfortunately, chaipaani fell short in this regard. I hope management addresses these issues so future customers aren’t met with the same dismissiveness.

To much bad behaviour for the collection time and I got the expired items selling, when I was notice than they did not believe and argue with me and my money was wast there

Unprofessional and Rude Staff I had an awful experience at this restaurant due to the behavior of the staff. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we were an inconvenience. The host barely acknowledged us, and the server was dismissive and unfriendly throughout the meal. We had to ask multiple times for basic things like water and utensils, and they seemed annoyed every time. To make matters worse, the staff was openly arguing near the dining area, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable. There was no apology or effort to make the experience better. It’s disappointing because the food was decent, but the terrible service completely overshadowed it. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking for a pleasant dining experience. Management seriously needs to address the staff’s attitude and professionalism.

Very impressed with the food I ordered a special dhosa which was one of the best I ever had staff were very helpful with the menu definitely come back here again only thing I would say it could do with a little bit of paint to present it better otherwise 9/10

i ordered food with priority charges of extra they said they’ll delivery within 15 min but its been 45 min till now i didn’t got my delivery please dont order from this restaurant

Chai Paani in Leicester left us with mixed feelings after our recent visit. We ordered a variety of dishes including sev puri, chole bhatura, a kids meal, masala chips, parantha, and a Mumbai sandwich. Unfortunately, despite requesting mild spice, the food was overwhelmingly spicy. It seemed like everything was pre-cooked or marinated, which made it difficult for them to cater to individual spice preferences. The kids meal, which included chilli paneer, was also very spicy, making it hard for the little ones to enjoy. Additionally, all the food arrived at once, even though we had ordered it as starters and then main courses, which disrupted the flow of our meal. Overall, we struggled to eat much due to the spice levels, and apart from the bhatura and parantha, nothing else tasted particularly fresh. It was a disappointing experience, and we had hoped for better.

Went today on boxing day, all I can say this place is amazing. Think we were table 25b and the food, service and customer service, value for money, portions was outstanding. We have probably tried all the veggie restaurants in Leicester and nothing even comes close to Chai Paani. Owner is very friendly and polite. Will definitely be visiting again. From Mr Singh

We went for birthday celebrations. Nice space to celebrate with a group of 10. Food was nice. Service was ok but somehow missed our order due to some technical snags,thanks to the management to inform that.

Ordered bhel through Deliveroo when it's arrived it was so soft and soggy at least they can put chutneys separately and it would have been crunchy

Fue obligado a venir aquí de nuevo por la familia anoche y fue decepcionado de nuevo. La comida era bang promedio y los precios por las nubes. Todavía montando la reputación de cuando eran buenos, tamaños de porción para paneer frío, patatas fritas y todo era tan pequeño y cubiertos sucios, sin estándares en absoluto. Have been here a couple of times and enjoyed the portions of the dishes we ordered. The prices are good, as is the friendly service. It can get quite busy but there is enough space for diners.

Went here with my family a few weeks back in the evening after we had a ride on the big wheel.. We went for lots of bits so it was filling. Food was lovely presented very cafe like but it was very tasty, The masala dosa was very impressive! Service was very rushed, not relaxef and friendly. When our order was taken, it was OK but as food was coming out I felt everything was rushed and a bit slap dash. atmosphere wasn't to my liking.. the music I found was om too loud.. a little invasive and the lightning was harsh.. I would visit here again as the food was lovely but probably more as a breakfast or brunch/lunch affair

We've been going here for years before it moved to the bigger premises and it just doesn't fail. Great location, good service and always packed with people! A trip to the Golden Mile isn't complete without a visit to Chai Pani!

We called in on Sunday early evening for a quick bite to eat and were shown to a table straight away, brought menus and our order was taken swiftly and courteously. We thought the service was great and really enjoyed the food. Super tasty Bhel Puri and Masala Dosa along with a Thali. The portions were generous and we thought that the meal was very good value. When we went up to pay the gentleman on the till wanted to know if we enjoyed our meal and thanked us for coming. All in all we were impressed and would certainly go again! As parking near Melton Road can be tricky we used the B&M car park just off the roundabout which appears to be free and has a lot of space. Its only a short walk up the road to the restaurant from there. October 2024, updated menu more curries to explore.

Chai paani gave me a complete Indian feeling, the atmosphere was really good as well as the staff and their service. Couple of suggestions: 1. None of the staff in the kitchen or serving staff were wearing gloves - please focus on hygiene factor. 2. The cauliflower used for gobi Manchurian was over boiled, it gives the feel of paste, also the pieces were too big.

### Disappointing Experience at Chai Paani I recently visited Chai Paani, and unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations. I ordered the chili paneer, which arrived cold and dry—not at all what I was hoping for. It lacked the vibrant flavors and warmth that should accompany such a dish. Next, I tried the masala dosa, but it tasted stale and uninviting. It felt like it had been sitting out for too long, and I was really disappointed, as I was looking forward to a fresh and crispy dosa. The only item that was somewhat acceptable was the garlic naan. While it was decent, it certainly wasn’t the best I’ve had elsewhere. It was a bit underwhelming, especially compared to the high standards I had hoped for. Overall, my visit to Chai Paani was disappointing. With the quality of the food not meeting expectations, I’m not sure I would return anytime soon.

They are charging for good service not food I had sandwich which is not roasted properly and just spreads little potato masala a sandwich like cheap theater and put name Mumbai sandwich👎

Amazingly delicious food! I have ulcerative colitis, so I often struggle to find mildly spicy dishes, as most Indian restaurants tend to serve very spicy food. However, this place offers the perfect dish, even for someone like me who is a picky eater. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. Highly recommended for all food lovers. Thank you.

Buena comida callejera cuando fuera y sobre Leicester. Estaba en la zona con la familia para un evento deportivo y decidió comer algo ya que era muy tarde en la noche. El servicio fue muy rápido, la comida estaba caliente y deliciosa. El personal era muy servicial y rápido para responder, no necesitábamos esperar un segundo cuando necesitábamos algo. I’ve been a guest of this place since the days of when it was called JALSA. Although the owners have now changed the food here comes highly recommended. Visited with my children which amounted to a table of five but extended family members. Ordered Paneer tikka masala Crispy Bhajia Naan Salty lassi Pani puri Cheese toastie Chilli mogo The team here are extremely accommodating, especially when it came to Catering for children. Food was present and tasted mild - they were happy. We asked for some of the food to be spiced up for adults and it was delicious. The food is delivered really fast and therefore weight times are extremely low The front of house are extremely welcoming and it’s just a great place to dine. Chai Paani comes highly recommended Service from Rahul and Prince was exceptional!

We waited for our turn and we went sent upstairs for seating. We wanted a table of 2 and when we reached they offered us a table which wasn’t great. We asked for another and they said those tables were reserved for 4. And then immediately gave those seats to a couple who were behind us and didn’t have any reservations either. Extremely disappointing behaviour.

Love this place. Its our go to whenever we visit Leicester for vegetarian Indian street food. Staff ate friendly ample seating area including outdoor seating. It is a Hindu owned restaurant however they accommodated us as Muslims with a place to pray at prayer time. In unprecedented times these are the moments that make you realise that the world has more good people than bad. Thank you for a great service and amazing food. They also have toilets.

Staff was very friendly and supportive Food was good. Sev Puri is not Pani Puri wala Puri, instead it is sev papdi chat kind of thing. Chana in chana (chole) bhatura was extremely tasty.
