After a walk along the river we were apprehensive about this pub but fears were unfounded. Lovely warm welcome and great choice of good value food which we enjoyed on the deck overlooking the river. Great pub, fab service and lovely food

Went for some drinks with a couple mates, ended up spending most the evening there playing pool and darts, had a great time, will definitely go there again

I was just out with my friends on a pub crawl, really enjoyed this pub until one of the staff made an inappropriate and rude comment about what I was wearing which I found offensive and unnecessary. Very disappointing as I was having a great time.

Amazing food with a great scenery. All the food we ordered was quick and delicious. The server was Harry and was amazing to us.

Both Lewis and Georgia were both amazing and welcoming and help brung drinks over for us, Food was lovely there lots of choice on the menu

I held my retirement work do on the evening of the 19th December and would say that both Daniel & Natalie were excellent; in both helping me sort the arrangements including food choices and coaching me on the 'best area' in the pub for the party size and for the serving of the buffet food. Service on the day was excellent with attentive bar staff and the food arrived on time, to good quality and they had even arranged a food heater so the later arrivals could still enjoy some hot-grub. The evening was excellent and we were very well looked after. Big thanks to both Daniel, Natalie and all the bar staff.

Brought my son here for his 20th birthday, he had a thoroughly good time and lived the outdoor seating, staff were great!!

Jut visited on the off chance with 9 others and the staff are great and food was excellent and they said they do functions like live Mike and comedy nights. Well worth a visit and we will deff beb back

Brilliant evening with m iny friends served by a lovely guy who I think was called Gavin. Very polite and efficient even though we were a bit tipsy by the time we left!

Had a great night out here and was served by Harry who went out his way to make sure we had a good night by serving us 'off menu' cocktails - he was very knowledgeable! He also mentioned a new cocktail bar that will be opening downstairs - very much looking forward to that!

What a find! Never visited before and popped in for post meeting drinks/light good. The food was amazing and very well priced , the service was great and there was a wide range of good beers on tap Will be back for sure and so pleased we found this little gem! Would recommend to anyone - especially for social post work venue!

How this place is not busier I do not know. Friendly staff and dog friendly (encouraged). The food was very well priced and probably the best steak and ale pie I have ever had. Fully recommend this place

Booked surprise party for my daughter and we booked the function room Bar 77…….what a fantastic place to hire for a party… Corey and his team could not do enough and the buffet they bought out was amazing. I would not hesitate to recommend The Outlook and Bar 77

Amazing atmosphere for friends and drinks! We popped in for some cocktails and Emily was so knowledgeable about the menu, she recommended us some great and tasty drinks! Would highly suggest visiting for anyone looking for a drink or a bite to eat in a friendly bar, we will be back soon

My go to pub in Reading. Amazing staff who are all friendly, helpful and welcoming. Great range of beers and the food is excellent. They also do Sunday roasts which is quite rare in the town centre! A very clean and well looked after pub. HIGHLY recommended!

Popped in for a drink and a snack and their cheesy garlic bread is 10/10. Had a glass of Pinot which was lovely and cold and a Coke which had just the right amount of ice. Highly recommend as the staff are lovely! I was served by Emily and Corey and they were so helpful with test and trace and ordering on the app!

Visited on Sunday. There is Car Parking on the road. Maximum stay 2 hours for £3.30. Being Sunday or may be the time we visited found lots on spaces. Paid the £3.30 and in we went.Were greeted by a very friendly member of staff. We don't have the posh phones so gave our details for Track and Trace. Covid protocol is followed to the letter. Felt totally relaxed knowing this.Got shown to window table, over looking the river. Beautiful. Ordered my wine and partner's Guinness and black which arrived promptly.I chose not to have starters. as Desserts were "calling me". LoL. LoL Partner had soup which he said was delicious and the bread was lovely with real butter. Mains - I had Vegan burger which came with Chips and Coleslaw. I also ordered a side of Onion Rings., Partner ordered the Big fish meal which came with Fish, chips, bread, picked Onion, mushy peas, some scampi and 2 sauces. All I can say is compliments to the chef. Piping hot food, chips nice and crisp. It was deliciousThe only thing I forgot to say was "no bun, please", as I never eat the bun. Gosh I wish I was there right now ordering the same!Drinks - I had a second glass of wine and partner Coke Regular size.Dessert - They didn't have what I wanted so I had Afternoon Tea Cheesecake and Coffee. However, the staff and Manager went the extra mile as they did not have what I wanted. A lovely gesture greatly appreciated. Have decided next time, we will get a taxi or a lift there and back. 2 hours just flew by.Conclusion - Will definitely visit again. If it was closer it would be our "local". The food is delicious, the staff are the warmest and friendliest I have met in a long while. Have already started recommending Outlook to family and friends.

Me and a couple of friends popped in after work for a quick bite and a couple of drinks and we ended up staying most of the night. Was a great atmosphere and the staff were brilliant. We only had "nibbles" to eat, but everything was hot and tasty. Also, the cocktails were on point. This is my favourite pub, I’ve never had a bad meal in all the years I’ve been visiting, highly recommend the Burgers 100% better than any burger restaurants, very friendly staff & a great atmosphere, highly recommended

Excellent, attentive service.We visited on a summer’s evening just after work, to find it eerily quiet. It’s a shame but that’s what’s happened since lockdown.This place deserves better. It looks well run, with a wide range of beers and spirits – and has a pretty good food menu too. A shout out to Harry who looked after us.

Visited here on a Friday afternoon for a quick lunch and a few drinks after shopping in reading. We were served by the manager Corey who introduced himself to us as we came in, we booked in advance so we’re shown to a table towards the back of the pub; he showed us how to use the app and so we ordered everything on there, service was really speedy and lunch was great value and arrived quickly: everything was also really clean and the place felt covid safe. We will definitely visit again when in the area.

I came here for dinner with friends. We had a chicken sharing platter, fish and chips and a burger and were very impressed with the quality of food considering the waiting time for food not being long at all. The Outlook has become a regular for me and several friends in the Reading area. During our time in the city we've struggled to find a place that can live up to the standards of The Outlook. The staff are friendly and accommodating and Corey is simply the most professional, approachable manager I've ever met, he makes the experience outstanding every time!. The food and the drinks on offer are simply amazing and they have a fantastic pool table!. Pair this with the fact there is a local community that frequents regularly and you've got yourself a fantastic pub that has you wanting to come back repeatedly. 5/5 would recommend to everyone I know.

Popped in for a bite to eat the other day, was most definitely not disappointed! The chicken platter is a must have! I would highly recommend the outlook to anyone wanting great food and an even greater beer!

Staff huffy and made it feel like our presence inconvenience for them. Burger was dry and unseasoned, didn't taste too fresh.

Popped in for a quick bite to eat after a bit of Christmas shopping. Was warm and cosy and the staff were really helpful, with quick, friendly service. Sat by the window and was lovely to look out over the river while enjoying our food. Great experience, highly recommend.

A day out of lockdown and what appeared to be a group of around 15 people, rocked up to the pub and were still allowed entry because "the pub was dead".

When we had first arrived, we were met with an incredibly rude member of staff who was very huffy and made it seem like our arrival was an inconvenience. We were then seated at a table with hay bales as seats, these left us with splinters. We ordered our food and drinks via the app, however the menu was scarce. Drinks arrived in a timely manner, but were weak and tasteless (like watered down coke), we were offered replacements, however these were equally as bad. Our food was more than disappointing, it took over an hour to arrive, it was cold, we were not brought cutlery, and one meal was missing! Overall an awful experience, we will not be returning and we will make sure all friends and family are aware of the experience we had at The Outlook.

Había aparecido en la perspectiva con mi novia para almorzar un poco mientras compraba en la lectura. Estuve aquí antes del cierre y ha cambiado bastante desde la reapertura. Muy encantador pub gran personal muy positivo, motivado y feliz. Nos recibieron en la puerta y nos llevaron a una mesa después de hacer el seguimiento y la localización y explicar el sistema unidireccional que se nos explicó muy fácilmente. Tenía una hamburguesa de ternera salada y el plato de pollo con una excelente relación calidad-precio, la comida llegó rápidamente y me encantó cada bocado. Las bebidas llegaron a los 2 minutos de haberlas pedido en sus vasos de marca con mucho hielo y algo de fruta también. El personal de pubsafe siempre estuvo limpiando durante toda la visita, lo que nos hizo sentir cómodos y seguros mientras estuvimos allí. En general, gracias a Corey, y al resto del personal en el frente de la casa y Guman en la cocina, tuvimos un almuerzo increíble y no podemos esperar a volver pronto.

He estado aquí tres veces y ciertamente hay más visitas por venir.Me encanta su ambiente y ya pasé horas allí. Principalmente tomé cervezas y un pollo de cazador (que era genial y ciertamente recomendable). Tienen una buena selección de cervezas de barril y, como no conocía ninguna de ellas antes, me complació recibir algunas buenas sugerencias de su personal. Hablando de eso, fueron amables y rápidos y fue fácil llamar su atención.Debido a la situación actual, vale la pena mencionar que el personal también está muy al tanto de las regulaciones de Corona e hizo todo lo posible para cumplirlas durante mis estadías.Definitivamente regresaré allí y probaré uno de esos platos principales. Se veían increíbles :)

Even with the restrictions due to the pandemic, I can say my experience was very positive. They were really good at implementing the covid-related regulations while keeping the atmosphere nice and pleasant. Staff is always attentive and friendly. Do recommend.

Estaba visitando a un amigo en Reading el fin de semana pasado. Decidimos visitar The Outlook para comer algo y tomar unas copas.Fuimos atendidos, creo que su nombre era Corey, que era eficiente y profesional. Nos hizo sentir muy cómodos durante todo nuestro tiempo allí.¡Definitivamente volveré a visitar y recomendaría The Outlook a cualquiera!

Vine ayer para almorzar y tomar un par de copas con mi esposa. Al principio nos recibió un joven llamado Harry y nos explicó todas las nuevas reglas para Covid - 19 y el seguimiento y rastreo, desafortunadamente como soy un poco mayor no pude averiguar cómo hacerlo así que otro joven el hombre vino a ayudarme creo que su nombre era Arron / Aaron? Nos llevaron a la mesa del sofá y tuvimos servicio de mesa ya que no pudimos entender la aplicación. Estaba relativamente ocupado y esos dos jóvenes trabajaron muy duro para llevarnos la comida y las bebidas sin una larga espera. Comí pescado y patatas fritas y mi esposa consiguió cigalas y patatas fritas, ambos estaban increíblemente cocinados y nos llenaron a los dos para nuestra tienda de la tarde. Me gustaría agradecer a los jóvenes caballeros que nos brindaron un momento cálido, seguro y profesional en el pub y agradecer al chef por nuestra maravillosa comida. No obtuvimos el nombre del chef, ¡pero la vimos! Tenía el pelo largo y negro y parecía un poco mayor que los chicos. El único inconveniente es que parecía falto de personal para un comercio a la hora del almuerzo y los baños estaban bastante sucios.

Una miembro del personal fue muy grosera con nosotros, fue directa, desagradable y nos juzgó por ser un grupo joven de chicos y señaló a los miembros del grupo al segregarnos. Nunca volveremos a este establecimiento ni recomendamos que nadie vuelva aquí. Tuvimos una experiencia terrible que nos arruinó el día.Manténgase alejado de este establecimiento a toda costa. . . . . Wetherspoons está a 3 puertas, pintas más baratas y un personal más amable.

Extremadamente decepcionado con el personal bastante hospitalario. A pesar de adherirnos a las reglas de distanciamiento social, nos encontramos con un miembro del personal confrontativo y francamente grosero, que actuó como si fuera la dueña del lugar. El frente femenino de la casa nos hizo sentir muy incómodos; dudo mucho que volvamos a asistir a este pub.

Lovely visit! Been there twice now since COVID “Bee” was lovely she looked after me and my friend coming in making us feel safe and having some normality. Really did appreciate her help. Also the measures are really good here if you are wanting a venue to take COVID serious

Es comprensible que durante COVID haya restricciones, sin embargo éramos un grupo de estudiantes celebrando un cumpleaños número 21 en la calle. Nos sentaron lo más lejos posible, y cuando uno de nosotros trató de comprarle una bebida a otro, la nueva gerente nos gritó, maldijo y, en general, abusó de nosotros. No volveré aquí hasta que el infierno se congele.

Vine aquí con mi pareja y ¡me encantó! Imogen fue fantástico y realmente hizo todo lo posible para brindar el mejor servicio posible. Además, la tarta de dulce de azúcar era increíble, ¡se lo recomendaría a cualquiera en la zona! Sin duda volveremos la próxima vez que vuelva!

The staff here are lovely and welcoming. Didn't get everyone's names but Cory was great. Very accomodating of our staff discount (which didn't work on the order and pay app), cocktails were great and food fully and delicious. Very pleasant sat next to the river. Will definitely be returning!

Came in a with a few friends. The staff were really attentive. We were met at the door and taken to our table, all table service but were never left without attention. La semana pasada nos detuvimos en el Outlook por unas pintas y debo decir que están haciendo todo lo posible para asegurarse de que nos sintamos seguros. Todo parecía estar bajo control. Definitivamente regresaré, no estaba seguro de qué cóctel pedir, así que el personal me contó con sus recomendaciones y quedé contento con el spritz violeta que fue encantador. ¡Gracias a todo el personal del pub por hacernos sentir realmente bienvenidos y cómodos!

This was our second visit since it opened after lockdown & I can honestly say that we wasn’t disappointed, food as always was fantastic, social distancing was very well managed, excellent staff with a lovely atmosphere, Chris the manager was very friendly & welcoming. can’t wait to go back again the next time we are in the area.

So just went down the outlook for a game of Pool and didn’t realise the first game of the day was free. When we asked him for our free game, after already accidentally paying for the game he said “ Well you lost your pound then mate, not my fault” His name is Chris and the tone he said it with was disgusting insulting. NOT what I expect from a Greene King GM.

staff were really friendly, social distancing rules were strict which was perfect. I couldn't have visited a better kept pub. Myself and my two sons were very impressed overall and would definitely visit again.

Thursday lunch stop. Staff were friendly and adhering to Covid best practices. We had Bacon cheese and loaded Burgers. Both very good. Sat outside by the river. Plenty of draught choice but could do with more real ale.

Really nice pub Chris and his team were great. Sanitized tables quickly between customers whilst frequently cleaning the general touch points of the pub. All the drinks and food ordered came quickly and were nice. Will definitely be back again.

i came to the outlook for a few drinks with friends, chris (the manager) accommodated us perfectly. they made sure everything was clean regarding the current situation, we were shown the appropriate guidelines to a have a safe environment. the food was outstanding, props to the chef! the staff were lovely and im definitely coming back for drinks very soon.

Staff are so organised with all the cleaning due to COVID which made me feel very safe, nice little sunny terrace too which was lovely during this hot weather!

The Outlook manages to capture the charm and comfort of a local pub with the quality and service of a high end restaurant.I have never felt more welcomed by staff, each member was happy to answer any questions me and my friends had, be it about the menu or any recommendations. The overall atmosphere in the building is overwhelmingly positive and the service was beyond exceptional.Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic I felt extremely safe in this pub. Walking in a staff member informed me of the rules to abide by (scanning a code and following a one-way system, etc.) with clarity and respect (a refreshing contrast to the more condescending approach I experience in other pubs). Seats and tables were separated from other customers and close interaction with staff was done behind a screen. I have absolutely found my new favourite pub at The Outlook , its location is central (on a main road so we just walked there) and the building is spacious. My main reason to recommend this pub is still undoubtedly the amazing service the staff provided when I was there.If you are ever in the area and are looking for place to grab good food or even just a pint: Definitely choose this pub.

Firstly, the staff were very polite, welcoming and friendly. The staff were very serious when it comes to having rules set in place for COVID-19. They made sure every table was sanitised and cleaned once someone had left and they had a certain amount of time that everyone could stay for. They would always check if your okay and make sure you have everything you need. They gave service with a smile and it was lovely to see. The only thing I would fault is the toilets and the stairwells (banisters). They need re-doing because they weren’t nice at all but apart from that it was lovely pub, we will definitely be going again.

Went in there with my other half for a drink on entry we were told that due to the virus they were only having people in for an hr and 45mins at a time which is absolutely fine and it's good to see somewhere actually taking the government warnings seriously! Everything was table service which was very quick staff were polite and everything reasonably priced cant ask for more really. Will be returning

5 of us turned up last night unbooked for dinner last night. Shown to a table straight away and excellent meal provided. Good system for ordering and distancing in place. Only slight negative would be the lack of tomato ketchup but in these times not enough to fault them. Well done to the staff there.

I visited the outlook yesterday, the first time since lockdown for a quick drink and bite to eat. I was extreamly impressed with the level of professionalism and efficiency when dealing with covid-19 safety precautions. I was greeted by a friendly lady at the door with a visor and was explained the new “rules” one way system etc. The place was spotless and still had the same upbeat atmosphere that I am used to every time I visit. The food was lovely and the staff were very catering as always . I can’t wait to come back!

Went out for lunch for the first time after lockdown with my besties and wasn’t disappointed. Was seated at a table inside, had plenty of space and was given all the information about one way system etc. Staff were wearing masks or visors so we all felt like we were safe without feeling like we were in a hospital. It was pretty quiet for a Friday lunch service so we were a bit surprised at the time limit. Harry served us at the bar and put through all our requests for alterations which were prepared as we asked and right first time. Think the chef was called Gurghan? Sorry if I have miss spelled but please thank him for a lovely meal. Hope we can stay longer on our next visit.

Came in for a quick drink with some work friends, great selection at the bar. I didn't know which gin to have so asked the bar staff and they reeled off so many delicious recommendations with tonics I hadn't tried before! Will definitely be back to try more flavours.

Popped into the outlook for a quick stop. Decided to stay longer due to the excellent staff service and choice of beers offer, a lovely and friendly atmosphere created by all, will definitely be back.
