The Orchards Cafe in Tonbridge and Malling

An impromptu visit recently with my children but was unknowingly in the window between breakfast & lunch. The server was very helpful and made me a ham salad sandwich as after the walk from East Malling I didnt have much time. The Fresh loaves of bread on sale were great value & the selection of cakes very tempting Would recommend better signage on foot as I walked the whole way round following the road signs not realising it was in the middle of the buildings

The only Down side is its only card payments, some people still want to pay with cash

Rode past a few years ago on way to Labour at the new EMRC site being built and thought it was for employees only. Discovered today whilst looking for a local cafe to take the partner and son for a quick bite, that it is open to public too, so thought we'd give it a try. Turned out to be a fantastic decision. Lovely spot with the friendliest staff you'll find anywhere. Food top notch and reasonably priced and best of all it's HOT. Plenty of space for meetings or a quiet bite, the staff having meetings are barely audible and very respectful of the surroundings even when sat one table over. It is clear the owners and managers of this establishment care about what they do. It's a whole package breakfast/lunch experience, lovely landscaped surroundings, wonderful food, and a service to match. You can access it on foot or by car, and is only a short distance from the nearest bus stop and train station. 5*s isn't enough. Will be coming back again VERY soon and I can't wait to visit when the orchards are in bloom.

Called in for a coffee and chocolate snack during our regular 6 mile walk from Allington to East Malling and back. Friendly, clean and good value. Only open on weekdays.

A fine cafe providing a range of hot and cold food along with similar drinks. Service provided in friendly surroundings. Very tastey local apple juice well worth trying!

Came here for breakfast with my parents, husband and toddler. Had a very warm, friendly welcome and a lovely cooked breakfast. It was great value for money and the staff couldn't do enough for us. They were very good with my son too! Will definitely be visiting again and have recommended to others.

Had a classic Full English breakfast here for a business networking event. Lovely surrounds with heritage apple growing for research. The apple juice was great!

Not widely known that this great cafe is open to the public. Good food friendly staff. So close to Kent's renowned research orchards.

Expensive compared to food that is served. Did not enjoy the environment either.

Excellent, food value for money, very varied choice and very clean and tidy. Would highly recommend.

We've visited a few times now for coffee and cake. The cakes are homemade and excellent value for money, costing usually £1-£1.50. My daughter had a large baguette (can't remember price but wasn't over priced at all) and we love the apple juice which is made at EMR too. This place stands out as the staff cafe that it is but they are very welcoming to any visitors and it's a nice place to chill with family/friends. We would love to have lunch here sometime but they stop serving lunch at 2 pm and we usually eat a little later than that. My only criticism is that the coffee could/should be served hotter but I usually ask when ordering. The cafe closes at 4 pm and would be easier if it shut a little later but we always enjoy a visit here and I highly recommend if you want good food at good prices.

I was also seduced by the ad in the free magazine. Went there at approx. 2pm today.I did not find the ramp mentioned in other reveiws .Sat in chair at top of steps for ten minutes while a young lady walked out with rubbish bags and then walked back , ignoring me both times. I eventually gave up and left.

Good value cakes ,sometimes let down by serving Luke warm coffee depends on who is serving you.

used to live on the EMRS and grew up there so this place brings back fond memories - lunch in the conservatory - excellent home style food and good portions - realistic prices - very good

I think they were having a bad day food was cold eggs hard bacon was like rubber very expensive for what you got

Very nice cafe great cakes at sensible prices always good service plenty of freshly cooked dishes and salads available at lunchtime.

There is no getting away from the fact that this is the cafeteria for the Research Institute staff rather than a cafe where you might come for a cup of tea and cake. However the staff are very welcoming and the food of good quality and they are happy to see visitors from outside. Prices are on the lower than normal side.

Había oído hablar de este café antes de hoy visita y habíamos oído que era bastante bueno, y luego después de ver un anuncio en una revista gratis, pensamos que vale la pena probarlo para un cambio. Cuando encontramos la entrada a la estación de investigación a lo largo de carretera nueva en este Malling, fue un muy bonito en coche a través de los huertos, o redonda con todos los cerezos, cafetería no fue firmado en ese camino y una zona pública dijo no, pero ningún otro juego de la cafetería, que estaba siendo firmado para ir de esa manera, un poco confuso. Después de seguir las pocas indicaciones que tenía y tomar una oportunidad en otras zonas, al final encontré el café, a unos 1 km de la carretera principal. Después de encontrar la entrada, primera opiniones parecía bueno, fue plana, y sillas de ruedas, excepto el aparcamiento, que era de piedras y trabajan duro para sillas manuales, pero por lo demás es plana. La entrada tenía una rampa, y los aseos eran buenas, limpias y un montón de ellas. No noté una movilidad reducida, pero supongo que sí, como muchas señales de movilidad reducida alrededor. Luego elegido son comidas de que no había mucho donde elegir, tenían un plato de asado, una comida vegetariana, y patatas, además de chaqueta sirvieron sándwiches, aperitivos, tartas, panines. También hay un bar de ensalada para un coste extra. Gran variedad de aperitivos y canapés, y bien distribuido. No estábamos seguros si te sentabas y luego ordenados o fuimos y lo conseguimos, así que vimos a otras personas, y fuimos y buscaron la comida, las bebidas y luego se sentó. Todos elegimos patatas chaqueta, que eran razonables en alrededor de £ 4. 25 Queso y frijoles, ensalada no estaba incluido, pero podría haber pagado £1. 00 más por lechuga, tomate, pepino. La comida fue servida y poner en la bandeja, entonces fuimos y nos dieron bebidas, el único problema que tuvimos fue con el tiempo 3 que servían las comidas y 3 bebidas calientes y luego pagamos, por el tiempo que nos sentamos a comer la comida, no era muy caliente. Fue una cafetería preciosa y limpia por dentro, que ayudaron a sí mismo para cubiertos, salsas, etc. y también aclaró su propia mesa, que había un tranvía cerca de la zona de cocina, que estaba claro para las bandejas y vajilla. Bonito lugar si quería ir para charlar y relajarse o simplemente almuerzo ligero, café y pastel, pero para comer caliente, no estoy seguro de que volvería a hacer de nuevo.
