The Pavilion is a purpose-built prefab/temporary structure and as such it is not what you’d expect from a dining experience at a royal palace. It has very poor lighting and the toilets are not great, nor are they properly maintained by staff. There is very little “royal ambience” in the Pavilion, other than being able to see the Palace through the windows. The service was poor. The entire time we were there, other than bringing the food and drinks, I don’t think a waiter came up to us once without me having to call for one. I had to get their attention to order, to ask for more tea, and for the bill. A couple of times I called someone and they didn’t come, so I had to call someone else. The place was not full. However, when they came over, the waiters were friendly, professional and well informed on the menu and ingredients. For example, the waiter who took our order was knowledgeable on what contained pork gelatine. The food was ok. The cakes were nice, the sandwiches were average, although they did make a plain cheese sandwich for my daughter when I asked, which I appreciated. They have a children’s tea which is ideal for kids. Overall, the value wasn’t great but that’s largely because of the venue, the toilets and the service. If the tea took place inside the palace, I believe the experience would have been better, and more worth the price, even if the service still wasn't the best.

Punctual service, warm & welcoming staff and tranquil ambiance. I was worried of prior reviews about the tent but I’m glad we booked a reservation here (everyone has different expectations). I thought the setting was beautiful inside and outside. We sat for afternoon tea at 2pm so it was decently filled with other people and not crowded or loud. I would book here again for reliable booking and staff and a elegant & classy setting . 5/5 stars! ⭐️

We went for my mum's 60th birthday, the sandwiches were nice the scones were rather small and a bit overcooked. And the cakes were also a bit dry. I found the pastry to be too thick too. So due to this I found the cost was overpriced for the afternoon tea. Also the menu had not been updated on the website, so my sister was planning on having the charcuterie board, to find they no longer served this. She ended up having a plate of four finger sandwiches at the price of £14.50 for essentially two slices of bread minus the crust and some filling. I found the walls were not great as we could hear the kitchen very loudly and although the loos seemed far away, we constantly heard the hand dryer in use. On the plus the staff were lovely, attentive and helpful when we turned up early to our booking.

I have allergies and dietary restrictions. I called every day from the day I arrived in London, I also emailed them several times. I never received any response. My daughter and I show up and I spoke to the waiter about it. He insisted that they could accommodate our gluten and dairy free restrictions. I will say it is fair that I did not go into my allergies. However, I eat out all the time and know how to avoid my allergens. Everything is served and I request a cucumber sandwich to replace the egg salad, as I can eat eggs baked in pastries but not eggs by themselves. The waiter leaves and comes back and takes our serving tray. He proceeds to blame me for not telling him about my allergies and says he has to talk to the chef. The waiter comes back and says I can’t drink the tea and he cannot serve me anything. Now my daughter is extremely upset and I am disgusted. I did the proper thing and tried to discuss my concerns. The Pavilion at Kensington just never responded and now I will never have afternoon tea in England. So disappointing.

We had a booking at 2.30 pm and expected the slot to be two hours. We were not told (by the receptionist) that we would have to leave at 4 pm. Three of us were late, so in fact the restaurant told us after 1 hour, and after just having ordered huge amounts of food, that we had to leave. When we told the restaurant that we - at least - wanted to finish our meal in peace, we were threatened with security and with the prospect of escorting us out. Never in my whole life have I experienced such an appalling, contemptuous conduct towards a paying guest. I will never set foot in this etablissement again and I really, really cannot recommend this restaurant.

What could more perfect while visiting London to plan tea following church? We set out for high tea but the lunch menu was so tempting we had to change course. We started with the Butternut squash soup, Chef’s Choice and the baked Figs with prosciutto. Both were perfectly prepared and the plating was beautiful. We then had the Pea and ravioli and the Christmas dinner. Both were exceptionally prepared. The service was wonderful and we had a beautiful view of Diana’s park. Then we received a plate of coronation chicken only so i did not have the full selection of sandwich's. Once the mistake was pointed out the other selction of sandwichs were bought on seperate plates. It was my wifes bithday and at around £120 i felt disappointed at the service and value. Two downsides: waiters not really friendly nor classy (shouting and singalong could be heard from kitchen + not smiling verging on rude to customers) and top tier pâtisseries spongy and tasteless. Very disappointing. Afternoon Tea at the adjacent Orangery used to be excellent. They have now moved it to the so-called Pavilion whilst the Orangery is being refurbished. The Pavilion is just a glorified Portakabin. The whole event has been dumbed down. Scones and cream should be accompanied by home-made jam, not a jar of Tiptree. The cream should be Rodda's. The tea was in teabags rather than loose-leaf with a very limited selection; the "palace" teacups were chipped. Pastries were disappointing as were the sandwiches. Service was poor with the napkins arriving at the end of the service. No offer of a top-up of tea. Very poor value at £50 per head inc service. Now just a tourist trap. And no sign of the odd royal! https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g186338-d807196-r920800975-The_Pavilion_Kensington_Palace-London_England.html#
