Very dry chips rock hard parmo was terrible very thin like what u buy in supermarket jeff the chef no bechamel sauce the venue was so cold weuse to love the open jar

Wouldn't recommend for the bottomless brunch. The service is way too slow to get any where near your moneys worth, the girls were absolutely lovely but there wasn't enough staff on to keep up with the drink order. After an hour of being here we had only had 2 drinks and were asked to wait every time we tried to order another round, even though our drinks were empty and had been for some time. The food also isn't great, served cold. It would be nice to get a plate when ordering 3 side dishes too.

the service was fine, you could see the staff were attending tables and making drinks as quickly as possible, the bar itself is clean and has a good atmosphere but I would not recommend going for brunch. the brunch which cost £35 per person, includes a meal and an unlimited selection of alcoholic drinks for 90 minutes was a waste of money for me and my friends who went to Open Jar in Norton very recently. every single cocktail tasted bad and watered down, none were drinkable so we were forced to drink bottles of budwiser. the food was terrible, you could have cracked a tooth on the crispy chicken goujons that tasted like they were cooked in dish soap, the only redeeming food item were the Cajun spiced fries which were tasty. my party left open jar slightly hungry, bloated and not even tipsy. go elsewhere for quality drinks

Firstly great staff , nice decor and looked clean . Ordered via phone 3 x xl Parmos , paid extra for salad and coleslaw. Collected and paid via voucher and cash in total £48.50 ! Got home chips were really nice but not a great deal . Salad was minuscule and costly .The Parmos themselves were large well cooked but very salty , we shared ours between 4 people and all agreed very salty . Would I return ,,, No , food was so so and very salty and very expensive

I ordered a burger but had food envy as my mam ordered what she tells me was a very good parmo. I would stick to the parmo if you go. It looked like a very good parmo to be fair. My burger was okay. Nothing special. I was very disappointed in the nacho style poppadom starter, it was very underwhelming with a very small amount of toppings - not what I was expecting. The service isn’t very attentive - but this might be just the way things are now since lockdown.

Visiting here with family for drinks and meal. Drinks spot on. Service for food was awful. Waitress took our order. We carried on having a drink while we waited for our food. 2 parmos come out first, at least 10 mins for other parmo and shawarma to come out. Asked for forks as only knifes on table, rest of food came out after another 5 min still no forks. Waitress apologies as our daughter ordered chicken but waitress accidentally ordered garlic so she had to wait. Eventually her food came out, no chips had to wait again. Side dishes we had to keep asking for. Another 10 minutes food had all arrived. Mother in law had to get up and ask for the forks. Food was not good. Family who had parmo said was OK. Shawarma and honey chicken was awful. What looked like and tasted like was chicken nuggets, uncle bens rice with awful sauce on top. For £15 it was disgusting. My daughter for £15 pound literally had fried plain chicken breast. No one to complain to as no senior staff member to deal with it. Staff behind bar didn't seem bothered. Will not be returning.

Totally amazing food ordered double cheese burger with mushroom and a beef stroganoff the moved was out off this world found my favourite eat out place in norton

Visited this place several times for Sunday lunch and Evening meals and the food and service was really good. Went here on Sunday and what a disappointment. Service was poor and the food matched it. All items on our plates were cold and we didn't get any Cauliflower cheese despite it being on the menu as part of the meal. The pigs in blankets were by far the worst I have ever had the misfortune to receive. Having to ask for knives, to eat the food with, was not good. Asked for the dessert menu but still waiting. All in all will probably give this place a miss from now on which is a shame.

Cracking food. Had a chicken wrap. Bloody lovely and it was just the right amount rather than giving you too much that will just go to waste.

Excellent parmos but salad or coleslaw should be served with them rather than needing to add as a side dish. Service was fine though we needed to wait a while - didnt mind, it shows everything freshly cooked.

Visited here with a dear friend who I haven’t seen for a while, had a lovely lunch with great service. We took advantage of the 2 courses for £10. My friend had lasagne followed by profiteroles and I had the burger followed by an amazing apple crumble. First time visiting here but I will definitely be returning.

I had the chips and parmo combo with fresh Chillis as a topping. This was beautiful, and a very generous portion. My partner had the Honey Sesame chicken. Again this was beautifully presented and full of flavour. The staff were very professional, and couldn't have been more helpful. We are not local, and asked the staff for local recommendations. They were excellent. A great find.

I’ve been meaning to try this place for ages and I finally got round to it and trying the parmos! They were perfect, very nice portion and cheesy with chunky chips! The cocktails too were lovely along with the staff that night!

Our second visit here in the last five months,,food has been great on both occasions. However,,on both occasions there has been issues with our drink requests. The last time we were there, we ordered a bottle of Merlot but waitress returned to our table to say they didn’t have any so we ordered Tanqueray gins, same thing happened, they didn’t have any.. Last night, ordered Tanqueray,,they didn’t have any so we said we would have Hendricks,,again the waitress returned most apologetic to say they didn’t have any. The waitress said she felt embarrassed herself about this. It is such a shame that an issue that can be easily rectified by management just ensuring they have the drinks in stock which they advertise on the menu can ruin an evening when the food is so good.

Visited The Open Jar today, friendly welcoming staff. Great food, we got the wrong chips but we were happy to keep what we had but the chef still sent out an extra portion of chips to make sure we were happy. Definitely recommend.

Been here twice now food has been lovely both times! Cocktails are amazing! Tables very close together and was abit dirty the table on arrival. Friendly waiters however hard to get their attention when there near the bar area and not near the tables. Parmo snd home made chips were lovely! The sticky toffee pudding was amazing also!

Opening statement here has to be that the Parmo was sublime, I would highly recommend them to anyone, after that though I’d say the review takes a bit of a nosedive. The main issue here is price and noise levels in the venue, with this place turning into a bar after a set time, some people turn up to have food and get a good skin full in them. This was the issue when we went, the table next to us were unbearably loud and obnoxious, with the staff too busy serving. As for service, it was really quite slow (especially from the bar), as their was one member of staff pulling drinks with others distributing. Adding another to the bar would have really sped things up. Once the food arrived it was well presented, tasted fantastic and nothing was too much to ask for. As for the allergy front, my only criticism would be I asked if the kitchen would be ok to serve me, then the food arrived before I was told yes it’s fine. A minor bit of uncertainty which was only a communications issue. The bill for 4 people was close to £100 which isn’t too bad considering we had a meal each and a number of drinks, but this didn’t include a starter. Overall, nice place, but really needs to make the operation that little bit more slick and it’ll be firing on all cylinders.

We used Open Jar for their takeaway service. We had Parmo’s & cocktails. The Parmo’s were fantastic, we generally aren’t great lovers of them. However the cocktails were tasty but a bit on the weak side. All in all good value for money

Pleasant surprise. impromptu stop in Norton en route home, grabbed a bite to eat. Covid ready and well organised. Place was clean. lovely menu. Great service waiter very attentive to everyone in the place. the food took a while to come but we weren’t disappointed,...

Candyfloss margarita tasted like cough syrup. Margarita cocktail was unlike an original margarita, tasted very sweet. Spicy chicken enchilada starter was very tasty and hit the spot on flavour and garnish, I would say the portion was too big but perfect for sharing between two....

Just been for first time to The open jar. Food absolutely stunning portions size was amazing. Staff very helpful and friendly nothing too much hassle. All safety precautions in place given current circumstances. Will defiantly be returning.
