The Olive Tree Cafe in Birmingham

Visited last night for my friends 50th. There was a large group of us and we were looked after extremely well. Food and service were both excellent. The restaurant itself is beautiful and had great live music as well. It was our first visit and will not be our last, loved it, thank you so much!

5/5 stars! We had an incredible dining experience at Syriana Restaurant! We ordered the Shish Taouk, Mixed Grill, Veg Rice, and a Large Mint Tea. The meal started with a delicious complimentary serving of hummus as a starter, which set the tone for the rest of the meal. Each dish that followed was equally impressive - the Shish Taouk was tender and flavorful, the Mixed Grill was a perfect blend of meats, and the Veg Rice was surprisingly amazing! The Large Mint Tea was refreshing and just what we needed to wrap up the meal. We loved every bite and sip of our experience at Syriana! Highly recommend!

11/01/2025 Sisters monthly get together. Another wonderful warm family welcome by the manager Ms Perveza & her staff. Amazing delicious food, which was thoroughly enjoyed again by us all. Followed by a catch up over Turkish tea & delight. Thank you for making us feel so welcome. Looking forward to our next visit. Thank you from Rene, Rahela, Rebecca & Rabia.

A large party of around 20 on a work do went out, we were asked to preorder from a menu online. The prices in the restaurant itself were higher. There were still delays in bringing out some food for people. The waiting staff were sweet and friendly. Unfortunately there was a mistake totaling our bill which they only identified after most of us had paid and left. The manager angrily demanded that we pay an extra £40 - he was so rude to me even tho it was his staff who made the mistake, he made no apology or acknowledgment that this was inconvenient, I wouldnt cheat anyone and of course was willing to the pay the extra. When I challenged him about his attitude he said he hadn't been rude, and appeared much happier once he had the money on his pocket. It was a bad end to what would have been a really nice evening. I wouldn't expect anyone to be so rude especially when a group had providing over £500 of business to you. All local as well. I will not be returning. I would still value an apology.

We visited on Friday 27th December needing to get out after the 2 days of Xmas. Booked a table thinking it was Farina, turned up and it’s Dizi now, a Persian restaurant. Now we loved Farina, and after the initial disappointment of it being no more, we settled in to see what was on offer from the new hosts. We ordered 3x starters between the 4 of us, and a main each. Starters - hummus, mashed aubergine and prawns, served with beautiful crisp flatbread - delicious. Mains 2x kebabs, a shishlik and a mousakka, everyone commented how good they were, how beautiful the rice was and how generous the portion sizes; maybe a little too big after the starters, so next time we may mix it up and share mains as well as starters. Finished with a sharing plate of small desserts between all. We had a couple of bottles of a delicious vinho verde for the table and a couple of beers for the guys. In summary: excellent, friendly and knowledgeable service. The restaurant is light and bright. Food quality superb, good self drinks and really good value. We ended up not disappointed that we were not at Farina, and we will definitely visit early in the New Year.
