We ordered the grill for 2. The portion size was really good and it was filled with flavour! They even gave us a free dessert which was a pleasant surprise! This was our first order and will definitely order again!

One of the best Arab restaurants

Stopped in with a couple of friends and was so happy we did. We had the sharing platter between us and the food was amazing, cooked to perfection. The lamb mendi was particularly delicious and the sauce they serve alongside is the perfect compliment. Will certainly return, it’s worth the trip.

Food delivered over an hour late with no explanation. Due to it being so late the food was cold as well. Extremely poor service. Strongly would not recommend ordering at this restaurant.

Syrian House restaurant offers a homely and inviting atmosphere, particularly suited for male gatherings and casual meet-ups with friends. While the setting is comfortable, the customer service could use some improvement. During my visit, there was only one staff member, and unfortunately, he did not greet us or guide us to a table. We had to seat ourselves and retrieve the menus on our own. On the positive side, the food was prepared quickly and tasted delicious, with reasonable prices that make it a good value for money. Despite the lack of attentive service, I would still recommend Syrian House for a visit with friends, especially if you're looking for a laid-back spot to enjoy some tasty Syrian cuisine.

Try to make the food more Syrian than that and use better bread for the sandwich. The taste of the shawarma is gone with this bread that you use. There are many shops near you that sell tourist bread and you need to put red stew in everything. I was expecting to eat falafel, really Syrian.

On a trip from Manchester to London, decided to stop in Birmingham to eat and found Syrian House. Ordered a mix platter with rice - enough for 5. Came with delicious rice, succulent lamb shank, chicken kebab - all well cooked and filling. Great service all round but keep in mind it is cash only, will definitely come back!

The Syrian House Restaurant Food: 5/5 The lamb mandi from the grill was a standout - prepared really well and incredibly tender although the grill was great too. The flavors were rich and satisfying. Their signature sauce was extremely tasty. Service: 4/5 Service could use improvement, as our request for tap water was overlooked several times. However, the personal touch from the owner or the manager, who checked in to ensure we were enjoying our meal, added a positive note to the overall experience. Atmosphere: 4/5 The ambiance is warm and inviting, providing an authentic experience reminiscent of being in an Arab country. While it may not have the upscale feel of a high-end establishment, it offers a cozy and charming atmosphere.

Ordered takeaway. Food was delivered within the stated time. It tasted great. No complaints.

Food was ok in this place We order kebbah and hallomi for starters Kebbah was bit sour hallomi was good but I was expecting a bakery “manakeesh” it was plate of pieces of haloumi cheese Main plate was platter for two the mandi was the best thing in that platter chicken and shawarma was dry rice good Shawarma wrap was the worst very dry uneatable We didn’t get any extra sauce like tahini or houmus not even thoumiya 🙄 The salad was for free but uneatable the vegetables look not fresh I couldn’t eat it We paid 30£ for everything Place decoration beautiful special the fountain ⛲️in the middle Service not that good Overall it’s 6/10 not bad 😊

Platter for 4 was more than enough for a family of 5. Everything was tasty. We all enjoyed it. Would stop over again (we were driving past Birmingham).

I have been wanting to visit for a while now, I wonder why I didnt go before?? Food was so tasty! Had the mezze to share and the falafel and warak 3enab where delicious!! Mutabbal and Hummus very nice as well. We also had a delicious mixed grilled and chicken shawarma, price was very reasonable for a family of 4 and they have private sitting at the back, will definitely be going back soon InshaAllah!!

This place is always a win! Very friendly service (we've been coming here a while now, and one of the waiters recognises us)! Food is absolutely delicious, and the portions are generous! Prices are great too! We tend to spend around £10-£15 a head and always leave with lunches for the next day! Thanks again, and see you again soon!

I’ve never been to the restaurant but the food is beyond AMAZING! I always go for the platters with beautifully cooked rice and meats that are grilled to perfection. A family favourite in our house!

My favourite place for Lamb Mandi and platter for 5. No match of this platter food for Arabic category. Only problem with this restaurant is they do not accept card. They take only cash.

What can I say. This place simply brought joy to my heart and stomach. The food was so delicious it felt like I was at home eating a meal made by my mother. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the decor really felt like I was in Syria, the chairs the lights. What made my day was the Staff, as you can see they are incredibly friendly and made sure I was happy and welcomed there. What more can you ask for, good food, good atmosphere and great service. All in all a wonderful place to watch with friends and family.

Very bad experience from the restaurant. I ordered food and waited for 3 hours. They didn't bring the food and i tried to call the restaurant several times. They didn't respond my call.

Not a perfect taste of Shawarma

Good arab food reasonably priced. Great location on the doorstep of Central Mosque. Good for families, clean toilets & nice decor & atmosphere . No seperate parking, but there is free car park next to Big John's chippy ( 1 minute walk)as well residential parking in addition to the masjid car park if you have prayed their.

Small eatery around the corner from us; we ordered the Arabic shawarma, jawaneh(chicken wings) and falafel. The falafel and wings were tasty but the shawarma was underwhelming. However the rice that came along was flavourful. Will be back to try some other items before writing it off!

We collected our food which was overall okay, though we asked and agreed no rice with the platter for 6, chips was offered, but we ended up receiving what felt like even more rice and less meat - gross communication error. There was a little difficulty in requesting “no rice” we had to repeat several times, and though we saw our waiter communicate this to the chef, and all agreed that chips would be offered instead, we got home to find a lot of rice with our order. The meat was good, we expected the kebabs to be larger and flatter, but received something similar to sheek kebab, the lamb mandi was really nice and soft. Considering the amount of meat we got with our platter we wouldn’t recommend these options and stick with the individual mixed grill options.

In my opinion it is amazing place for calming down and relaxing specially these separate rooms I liked that it’s nice for children. When comes to food we just can say it’s fantastic delicious and presenting with wonderful way The guys there friendly and kind Thank you for the tea that they had shared with us free as way of good hospitality. Sorry but I had to do this, Yesterday I had food from this restaurant with my friends order platers and many more stuff. But, unfortunately we all are struggling with food poisoning. I don’t know what’s went wrong, I guess the food wasn’t fresh that’s the reason. Please I request the manager to look after this. Kindly do use fresh food.

First time here as recommend by friends but I absolutely loved it to perfection. Couldn't complain as food was delicious, fresh, tasty, full of flavours and we really enjoyed it. This was taken yesterday 9th June 2023 ;)

The food tasted beautiful, the rice was so flavoursome and the freshness and taste of the hummus surprised me I will defiantly be ordering again thank you!

My friend and I went there and it was waste of money. Basically It’s leftovers from yesterday, the rice was cold and the chicken was hard to chew. Hopefully there was hot chili because there was to taste at all, it looks like Syrian food but it has nothing to do with Syrian cuisine. The tables were dirty as well.

Food was Pukka. Delivery was a bit too slow but it was during Iftaar so not gonna complain ;)

Stated order had been delivered but I doubt any food was sent in the first place. This has happened before, they see it’s a hotel, take the order, mark as delivered and then steal your money!

Came here with the family after visiting the Coventry Road Small Heath branch and both did not disappoint. We order the Platter for 5 and it is cooked fresh and served within roughly 15 minutes along with complimentary salad, and bread with humous and babaganoush. The meat is perfectly cooked, not dry and it's seasoned well. The rice is much better than most places and the portion size overall is really sufficient. Would definitely recommend either branch to go to. The service was really friendly and hospitable and we were given free tea at the end of our meal. Would definitely recommend!

Me and my Brother visit Syrian House almost once a month, it's good is unmatched, unrivalled and incomparable. There are many restaurants in Small Heath, and even more in Birmingham, but this has been our favourite, the best we have visited in the 2020s. The lamb Mandi with fries/rice is perfect, so savoury, the lamb so succulent and the fries so crispy. There was a period, where all we did was repeat this order because of how rich it tastes. We love Syrian House, then we invited our whole family and they loved it too. SH is our warm refuge, where the food is plentiful and filling. The customer service was excellent, the chefs and waiter are always very cordial, with impeccable manners. I wish this restaurant plenty of success, because being there became such an amazing new ritual. Will you ever forget the first bite of pizza? Will you ever forget your childhood best friend? Or the feeling of the first time going down a slide at a park? This is the best way I could summarise being at Syrian House, it's an entire authentic Syrian experience, this restaurant in a way is an informal Syrian embassy, it represents the fine culinary gifts of the Syrian people. I took my friend here who’s been loving Syrian food and he loved it so much! I eat over there every week with my friends and this place beats every other middle eastern restaurant I’ve been to in here. I saw some comments regarding the area being unsafe but i have never yet to encounter any situation that made me uncomfortable. Their lamb mandi is my personal favorite.

You need to run for cash if the cash machine next to it was not working. Location wise full of druggies. At all cost please avoid this place.

Went to the syrian house on a Sunday evening. Very quiet with only 1 other table being accommodated. We were seated very quickly and had a lovely waiter who helped us order from the menu. Food was delicious! With the meat being so tender and juicy from the mandi. The shawarma was full of flavour and the fish was too. Very good portions with alot to choose from on the menu. Food came out pretty quick. The fresh orange juice was amazing. Felt good in the heat! Definitely reccomend going back. Great people great food and a quality time.

Can’t beat an original Arabian cuisine. We had shawarma and everything to the house sauce was done beautifully. You can tell they really put a lot of passion and love into their food.

Best Arabic shawarma I ever tried

This is my first time to try Syrian’s food. I have ordered Shish Taouk and kofta kebab lamb.It is really delicious and the staffs are very helpful to help me order the food so I’m highly recommend people to try it.

Super friendly , great food, good sized potions and free mint tea at the end. For everything in the photos (plus drinks) it was only about £11 per person! What’s not to like! Worth noting that on the day we went they were open from shortly after 1 o’clock (it was a Saturday) so not sure the times on Google are correct.

The shawarma at Syrian house has the potential to be delicious, and I have once had shawarma from Syrian house which is the best I have ever had. There is a but, and that is that most of the time when I order shawarma it comes coated in oil (or fat perhaps?), I once received shawarma from here which was not like that and it tasted amazing. I am not sure if on the other occasions I was served chicken from the bottom of the cambro or if due to the heat insulation and travel time the fat within the chicken continued to cook, melted off and affected the food. All in all the meal is relatively healthy and EXTREMELY filling, I would recommend the shawarma on rice, with a side of nan (the nan is freshly made and perhaps the best nan I've ever had from a restaurant). The shawarma wrap is lacking, as they use a pre-cooked ready bought wrap, I have never understood why since they cook such delicious bread, although it heavily affects the quality shawarma wrap, often times the wrap would arrive covered in oil. The fries are lacking to say the least, extremely oily (almost see through due to the oil content) and very flaky on the outside and heavy oily on the inside. In conclusion, what this place does very well is authentic food, and the "fast food" aspect of this restaurant is not very good, you can get a relatively filling meal at a good price point (one meal could fill two probably but I'm greedy) and their sauce is amazing. At one point I didn't eat at home at all, and just ordered from this place for 2-3 months every day. It's good and well prepared but for some reason the quality is always affected when I ordered. Definitely try it out, you may get a different outcome, especially if you go in person. Edit: The management and hospitality given is top notch, so much as to even including extra nans when I asked at no extra charge at one point and phoning me when something was unavailable.
