Excellent food as ever but the absence of diet Coke and San Miguel Zero (although both listed on the drinks menu) was disappointing.

As the name suggests - the Tapas truly are revolting. We used to come here regularly and this place is now shockingly bad. Alcohol free beer on menu was not available; Patatas Bravas also not available? Ordered pan con tomate as a replacement - literally one piece of bread cut in half. Plate of fries was a side plate. Toreznos at £10.95 “served on a bed of chick peas with Mojo Verde” was some overcooked belly pork pieces - non descript sauce. .”Salt baked beetroot” @£10.95 was so obviously not baked - just a prepacked pickled beetroot. “Gambas al ajillo” shocking! Doesn’t mention that they’re shell on. Pre cooked. Hot chocolate- how difficult can it be? Staff indifferent and on their phones - even the chef. If we weren’t with our son who begged us not to complain we probably wouldn’t t have paid. This place is an absolute disgrace and placed in the main train station of the 2nd biggest city in the UK - awful!!

Went in and got a vegetarian tapas due to not eating pork - which is in every other tapas dish, was served the most disgusting variation of dishes which were just drizzled in either excess salt crystals or garlic mayo. Biggest shock of my life was being served a bowl of beetroot and told it is a salad, why would you serve that? I wouldn’t wish that meal on my worst enemy. Ordered calarami too, the batter wasn’t even cooked properly as it still came out very pale white despite it being the last dish served. Overcharged on drinks, staff don’t even come to check up on you and they looked bored the entire time, don’t blame them because if I had to serve that I’d look I wanna go home too. Hidden £11 service charge despite literally not getting any service, basically paid someone’s wage for just being seated and getting nasty food. No wonder they don’t have customers. Literally ashamed to have dined there because I left not even feeling satisfied and was craving actual food. Everyone was shocked when they got their bill because it’s overpriced for no reason. £28 for vegetable tapas when you can recreate it at home for £5 with vegetables from lidl

So overpriced for the food served. Calamari looked and tasted horrible, the frozen ones in the supermarket taste much better! Jamon croquette had a weird texture.

Food was mediocre, not even close to the authentic Spanish taste. The waiter couldn't even properly pronounce the dish names. Overpriced.

Took my friend here for lunch back in September, and we had a great experience thanks to Lucia! When we mentioned that we didn’t like the calamari, she immediately offered to swap it for the prawns (which she just knew we’d like much more) without hesitation. Lucia has a lovely attitude and was so attentive throughout our meal. She’s a dedicated and hardworking member of the team, and her exceptional service really stood out. Thank you, Lucia, for making our lunch so enjoyable!

Fantastic food and the service was great. Lucia gave us her recommendation and they where great. The choice is Fantastic and we will be returning.

My daughter and I went here for lunch yesterday. We were looked after by Lucia who was an absolute gem. She was friendly and attentive and made us feel really welcome. A real superstar. My daughter says the patatas bravas here are the best around!

We were looking for somewhere to grab a snack and a cocktail to shelter from the wonderful UK rain and have a catch up. This little gem of a place fitted the bill perfectly :) We shared a few dishes (would highly recommend the Croquettes) and drank a couple of Pina Colada’s…before we knew it a couple of hours had passed! We were so cozy! Shoutout to Louis for tending to our every need and providing us with insightful information and some good conversation. Will definitely be back!

There was no-one there for a reason. We ordered, and the waiter seemed nice. Then, when the food arrived... it was another story. The portions are pathetically small, and the food was flavourless and dry. The price... was laughable. We ordered a few lemonades thinking they where around £3 each, and on the receipt it turns out that they where £10 each! £40 alone just for some bloody lemonade! I could litteraly go to the shops and buy 40 bottles of lemonade with that. Absolutely ridiculous, will not be returning. Do not recommend! Save your money, seriously.

Good food, good service, good atmosphere, didn't want to leave!

Tapas Revolution is to date one of the best restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of dinning in. From the friendly and welcoming demeanour of the staff, to the gorgeous taste of the authentic dishes served, this corner restaurant in grand central is not one to be missed. As a loyal customer my favourite dishes comprise of the calamari, sticky chicken wings, potato’s bravas and pork belly. The meat dishes are succulent and brimming with flavour, the herbs and lemon served with them only enhancing the depth. The sauces paired on the potato’s bravas are both spicy and creamy, lulling the taste buds into a slow addition (you will order more, I guarantee). The only thing I enjoy more than the savoury dishes are the sweet ones. I recommend the platter of dessert posters where you will not only get one or two desserts, but four! The crunch of the Churros only taste better with a hint of chocolate sauce, the cheesecake has a perfect balance of sour and sweet and I love the pairing of vanilla ice cream with the fresh fruit Jam, it’s definitely a must after all the spicy/savoury goodness of the main course. If you are still unsure whether to try this tapas bar, let me tempt you with their excellent array of beverages and did I mention the servers not only recommend you dishes based on your preferences, but are very generous with their samples and incentives. All I can say is, I look forward to my return visit to Tapas Revolution, eager to taste their updated menu. - P.R

The paella de marisco was delicious. I had the tapas portion but it was satisfying for a snack late afternoon.

Great service and fantastic food.

Very good service, Luis was chatting with us for a while, very pleasant. We only spent a while snacking on something with some drinks, in short = the croquettes were very creamy and tasty, the lemonade was very delicious and the white wine was fruity and fresh. recommendable

Very poor quality, very small portions, not very clean, never I will back, period

I hate a feeling of disappointment after a restaurant. And that what this place gave me. Beetroot salat with goats cheese tasted like someone took a pack of boiled beetroot and chopped it onto the plate. No seasoning, no flavour, goats cheese tasted awful (although I’m a big fan of goats cheese). Spanish bread with tomatoes and garlic was mushy - like it’s been sat for a while.. the only edible thing was potatas braves and shrimps with garlic.. so now I’m off to M&S to buy a salad and kill this taste…

Thats a crime towards Spanish food !! Never tasted food that was that bad in my entire life!

Went for lunch on Saturday. Food was great, good selection. Timings could be slightly better as we had near finished the rest of the tapas plates by the time the chorizo arrived. Would have had pudding but was stuffed from the tapas. One thing to be aware of is there's no toilets in the restaurant, it's set up like a food court so it's a little walk through the shopping centre to the toilets.

Very nice tapas, was fresh and flavourful, waitress was superb, the only thing was the tapas size could be bit more bigg.

Went for an impromptu lunch as I love tapas. Arrived and it was very quiet to the point of deserted. Had to wait nonetheless a good 5 minutes to be seated and I nearly left but a waiter turned up and wordlessly escorted me to a seat. I was then left 15 minutes with the menu and I had to get up myself and find someone with whom I could place the order which isn’t acceptable. No one apologised for the wait. Food arrived and it was very nice. It’s possibly a little overpriced but portions were a good size. The couple next to me were looking longingly at my food and it transpired they’d got there before me but something had gone wrong with the ordering machine apparently hence no food-they were offered free nuts and olives as recompense but I think all they wanted was their lunch! I felt awkward about it. When I finished, no one came to take my plates or ask if everything was ok or ask if I wanted anything else so I went up to the bar to pay. The girl I paid to was not overtly rude at all but again, barely spoke to me. I think for the £27 I paid this level of service was completely unacceptable and for that reason, I won’t be returning

Came here as a group of 4 last Saturday before a show at the Utilita. Had a lovely meal and an overall positive experience! Service was excellent and food was superb. We had a wide selection of dishes including: Meatballs Patatas bravas Fries Calamari Chicken wings Padron peppers Paella Garlic mushrooms Croquettes Tortilla All food was fresh and tasty. I would highly recommend this place if you are a tapas fan! Sangria was really good too.

After seeing a show at The Rep we weren’t sure where to eat before heading home and I suggested going to the food hall off Grabs Central as there is loads of choice. Tapas Revolution is one of the first we came across and my girlfriend chose this restaurant. Very friendly staff, who ask wanted to help and a great menu. We had a jug of sangria, as you do and several tapas plates. Lovely food and where I was sitting i could see the back end of Ozzy the Bull.

Foods were good, and service was excellent, and young waitress Sara was kind and warm, I’m willing to give her a Five Stars

The experience has been regrettable. The food may be the worst I have eaten in Birmingham. Plus the portions are ridiculous compared to the price. I would not recommend this site to anyone. No wonder it's half empty on a Sunday at noon. The waiter did his job well. It is not the fault of what is served, nor of the menu.

I am utterly appalled at the terrible, disgraceful and offensive behaviour of staff. After searching for hours on end to find a suitable restaurant for me and my fiancé we stumbled across what looked like a nice place to rest our legs and enjoy some nice food and drinks. However, upon entering we were met with a sign that stated to wait to be seated and that we did. After a long wait and many judgemental looks from the staff a young girl practically shouted at us from the other side of the bar “you alright!?” Quite rude. We then took it on our selfs to find our own seat. The place was empty except for one big table which seemed to be getting all the attention. Again, after a long wait still no one had approached us. A young man called me over to the bar to order didn’t even come to our table. I told him what we wanted and he told me To take a seat with a slightly rude gesture. It was almost as if they didn’t want us there. Girls behind the bar were mocking and laughing at us. Waited 20 mins for our drinks only two cocktails, we still hadn’t got any drinks or had been asked what we wanted for food so eventually we left. Dont recommend ❤️

If you plan to spend over 30 per person you deserve something better rather than a Tesco microwave standard ready meal Paella which is served in a tiny plate that just comes in 10 mins, and fried chicken wings covered in classic American BBQ sauce while you asked for butter for bread and ketch up for chips and they didn't have in stock telling you it's all Spanish.

The worst Spanish restaurant ever. Despite spending £130, the quality of the Spanish cuisine served was subpar. The Spanish seafood rice, in particular, was not up to par – it seemed pre-made and reheated, rather than authentically prepared in an iron pan. Additionally, there were significant issues with the service. Communication with the staff was challenging, and despite four of us ordering the seafood rice, we were informed that only three portions were available, leaving one person without a main dish and no alternatives offered. To compound matters, the bill reflected a charge for four people, despite the shortage in food. This dining experience fell short of expectations. The high prices, coupled with the disappointing food quality and service, left much to be desired. I hope this feedback prompts a reevaluation of the food and service standards at your establishment to ensure a more satisfactory experience for future patrons.

Went here in the late afternoon on a Sunday It's wasn't too busy, so the atmosphere was quite chill We were served by Sara who provided an excellent service, very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and didn't take long to be ready. Overall it lead to a lovely dinner for 2. Highly recommend, I would definitely go to eat there again sometime.

We ordered with relative ease. Food came out as you would expect with a tapas bar when it's ready.. As we started to eat the waiter came over with 80% of the food on the table we had ordered to Inform us that a Dish we had ordered for our son was not avaliable. Very dissapoiting as it was the only thing he wanted. Confused as to why they did not have this information Before. We were asked to order something else and ordered the meatballs and a seafood paella. My wife looked over at the kicthen and was shocked to see the food we had orderd being microwaved.. £9 for a microwaved paella with seafood. Was such a small portion. Was not hot which was really worrying as was seafood. OOD was not great and considering our kids only had 1 dish each the bill came to over £73, the cheek of it was the 12.5% service charge they added on to tilt the bill to over £83. Very expensive for below average food from a a microwave. Will not be returning.

Awful. Tepid food, disinterested staff and just a lack of interest and care. The staff cranked up the (truly, truly awful) music to satisfy themselves instead of the customers.

Highly highly recommend! The food was delicious and the portion sizes were very good. We ordered the hamburger, half chicken and patata bravas. They were very sweet to our toddler and even brought some crayons out for him. We genuinely felt the staff cared about our experience there. We wanted to point out how wonderful Sara was since the moment we arrived! We would certainly return! Oh, and the music is awesome!!

Food was abit slow and they were out of several choices

I called in as it was lunchtime and the food here has always been good. I was not disappointed on this occasion either the food is really hot and came out when it was ready. Would always recommend the calamari. It’s brilliantly cooked here. Nothing was ever rushed and the staff were very friendly and even had time to chat. Valeria was brilliant as a host and nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend this place if you want some decent tapas outside of Spain.

Food taste was not up to the expectation. Portion size is bite size. ALDI paella is better than the paella they served! Fritura Mixtra was just some fries without any taste. Have your changed your chef in recent days? The bright spot is the friendliness of the staff members. But, not sure why you have to add optional service charge in the bill.

At the end of a very busy day out in Birmingham beautiful Bull Ring on Saturday - we visited this very friendly Tapas venue. Thanks to Ari/Aei who made our visit memorable by her excellent service. We will definitely return to eat more of their delicious food.

A lot of greasy food with minimal flavour.

Absolutely terrible the lady was so rude I think she’s the manager she just walks around giving customers dirty looks she sat us down didn’t explain the menu at all we asked if the wings were crispy she said yes they are to be honest I don’t even think she understood what I said so the wings came they where not crispy I called someone over she gave a dirty look and refused to come over whilst someone else then came over I explained the issue and they helped me out even though I was upset about the wings I really did appreciate that guy helping me out so I have to give credit to him to be honest I think he needs to be a manager his name was Samra and not that devil woman who is giving everybody evils disgusting service

The staff were so friendly, and so helpful with my allergies - especially Valeria and the head chef. The good was gorgeous

I can see why there were no free tables in the other restaurants but plenty here. £108 for 5 of us and we all walked away hungry! We were shown to our seat by a waiter and then it seemed like he was hurrying around the place. Even when we ordered drinks he said “one down, two down” when we each told him what we wanted to drink. I will say that the younger waiter who took our food order was quite helpful, particularly to my friend who cannot read English or Spanish very well. We ordered two of the set menus for 2 plus three other dishes, figuring this would be enough for five of us. If it wouldn’t be I don’t know why nobody suggested this. The food came out bit by bit as it was ready, which was explained to us after we made the order so we were enjoying the food as it came to the table. The food was nice, however the calamari rings were stringy. The meatballs were nice and the Spanish omelette was delicious. Again, the first waiter was bringing food to us so quickly as though he was rushing. When the second waiter bought food, he was relaxed and said what the dish was that he was bringing. The first waiter needs some training in how not to rush customers, particularly as things were missed, such as we needed to ask for another set of cutlery as there were four sets for five of us and two of the stack of plates were dirty! As I said, we were enjoying the food but then it just stopped coming and the first waiter came with the bill and card machine asking if we wanted more food, coffee or to pay. We all looked at each other as none of us could believe we’d spent that much money on food when there clearly wasn’t enough to go round, so we paid and left hungry as we felt like we were being rushed out! A positive though: after we left we checked the bill and the second drinks order (a coke and an orange & grapefruit) wasn’t on it! This is probably as a result of the waiter rushing. I also saw a lady who asked the same waiter about allergies and he got out a piece of paper with allergens on it. It would be useful if the allergens were on the menu instead of the statement that says it is the customers responsibility to tell staff about allergies. Whilst I agree, it would be a lot easier for customers to see allergens on the menu. We will not be returning.

Regretfully we didn't get to eat at this regular joint as they no longer appear to accept walk-ins despite plenty of room being available. The front of service rudely shouted across the bar so we gladly sought somewhere else where they understand customer service.

I've noticed quite a few low review marks for here, which is a bit of a surprise for us, because it wasn't one that had too many negative vibes for us. Tapas, is what it is, small plates, I suspose we didn't have that many tapas, which I've noticed a few comments on, what we did have was nice enough. Drinks, sangina was fine, I believe it was tablade pan, I'm trying to remember that one, excuse if I got that wrong. Also a mixed bread board, with dipping, olive oil, balsamic. And, the large plates, hamburguesa con queso, I believe, which either way it was spelt, or if I got it right, was met with a positive review as such. Staff were nice, as I say, we enjoyed our experience.

He agradecido mucho escuchar mi idioma tras una semana en el país jajajaja. La comida estaba muy buena; la mejor en lo que llevo de viaje, y el trato con las camareras y el cocinero también genial. El cocinero Luis se ha acercado a mi mesa a preguntar cómo había ido la comida e incluso me han puesto una tapita de arroz recién hecho para que lo probara. We ordered two tapas, and one tapas rice and one tapas potato, one coke cola and one lemonade. The four small tapas dishes and two nonalcoholic drinks costs us nearly £48 including compulsory service charges 12.5%. The dishes and service were not particularly any good and several tapas dishes on the menu were not available. After the meal, we had to eat at its neighbouring restaurant right away because we were still hungry. This place is deteriorating and being abandoned by the locals because of its being overpriced, as well as poor food and services.

I've been coming in with my family for 3 years and have had wonderful service all that time and even made friends with staff but last night Thurs 4th Jan the manager was so rude to me and my girlfriend we decided to not order food and go. My lady cried because of the treatment. My girlfriend asked when we came in if they had chips and ketchup for my toddler son and the waitress (Ozzy) said they had it and we said cool and sat down and ordered drinks etc. manager came over and said they didn't have ketchup and my girlfriend said my son won't eat chips without and she only asked if maybe they could ask the neighbour restaurant for some and the manager rolled her eyes and walked away and ignored us. I got up and went to the bar and asked why she rolled her eyes at us and she said it was only to my girlfriend and I said can you please give me your name because I want to report her to management and she rolled her eyes and walked away. She does not deserve to be a manager period. Ozzy our waitress was wonderful and was also perplexed as to why the manager did what she did.

Took 15 minutes to take a drink order, food came but had a missing paella which we raised with the waiteress, waited over 20 minutes for it and then gave up and canelled. The paella that did come was dry and over cooked, pork belly was 90% fat and croquettes were cold. All in all not a great experience. We left hungry and £60 down

La comida bastante pobre en cuanto calidad y cantidad,el servicio normal , no se parece mucho a nada español, el precio es muy elevado para lo que sirven. No lo recomiendo para nada es perder el dinero.

Disappointed with the food. Of the items we had, only one of them was delicious and everything else was lacking in flavours. We ordered the set menus as we weren't sure what to order. We are sure we were charged a different price than appeared in the menu but by the time we realised there is no way of checking. Staff were pleasant but we won't be returning.

Wouldn’t recommend pork belly and beef skewers which taste like microwave food brought from grocery.

I’ve been following Omar Allibhoy for quite a while as I’m Spanish myself and have lived here it he UK for half of my life. I bought his first book and follow him on social media. My partner and I went to Birmingham to visit the jewellery quarter to buy our wedding bands. We then decided to visit Tapas Revolution. I’ve read some other reviews and must agree that members of staff need to cheer up a little bit, specially one of the girls who seemed very miserable and to be fair, came across as rude. We like to hear please and thank you but she didn’t even make the attempt to look pleasant. Anyway… the food… the buñuelos were made out potato which is in the description but didn’t have much flavour in them, they were very small and you only get 4. We also ordered calamares and unfortunately we couldn’t eat them! Again, no flavour, chunks of uncooked batter and nearly raw calamares. It was the worst calamares I’ve ever tried! I would say, the already battered calamares that you get in Morrisons in the frozen section are better than those! The Berenjenas weren’t what I expected at all (they need to be cooked in thin slices and without that horrible sauce that they sit them on). I’m not going to even bother talking about the seafood paella… When the waiter came over and I asked for the bill, I said we couldn’t eat the calamares and without any questions he removed it from the bill. They charged us however a 12.5% service which I feel is unfair. I would have also liked the waiter to ask me why the calamares were inedible so they can pass the feedback to the kitchen staff and improve it! Unfortunately we’ve made our mind up and we won’t be returning to any Tapas Revolution restaurant. Sorry Omar! PS- the Alhambra beer was AMAZING.

We had a lovely meal two days before Christmas here. Food was delicious and the staff were so friendly! If your ever looking for a bite in new street station I would definitely recommend especially with a baby as it’s such a calm atmosphere !

Awful service, squashed like sardines even when there were plenty of free tables they were not letting anyone sit there despite many asking. Some of the food didn’t come and the ones that came were awful on quality, hard and over cooked. Avoid this place!! The people serving just don’t care!!

It has been 12 months since experiencing Tapas Revolution. So.....in January '24 I intend to revisit. Because.... having lived in real Spain for 14 years...this place was the best and most typical Spanish cuisine outside of Spain I have ever tasted.....I hope it has not changed!........

We were met by a red rope and a lady who informed us it was booking only despite the place being almost empty. Quickly booked online and was told "she deals with the bookings in the mornings" and still turned multiple potential customers away. Her attitude was really unprofessional. It's a shame as this is our go to place when doing shopping. Definitely won't return

Beware ! you are paying for a pint but will never receive one as 'head office tell staff to serve with a two finger head ' !! The manager confirmed this - whose 2 fingers are they using !! they are skimming each and every pint of alcohol served . Choosing to not comply with the weights and measures law. I have reported to trading standards and hope the chain gets investigated and fined .

We came here a year ago and it was amazing. We had the coffee (Barraquito) from the Canary Islands which we’d had on our honeymoon. It was brilliant and we hadn’t been able to find one anywhere else. We checked the menu and saw the coffees still on there and came back this year and hunted out this place to have one again. Unfortunately one member of staff must have been new. She asked someone else & they showed us menus saying there wasn’t coffee on there. My husband double checked with the other member of staff who was rude and blunt and just said “no coffee” and walked off. Not sure if they do the coffee or if they’ve stopped and not updated their menu. Such a shame if they’ve stopped doing them. The staff really could do with being more polite.

I don’t normally give negative reviews but though it will be important for the business to submit this one. Staff (4 females on the floor) totally miserable, 4 of them serving about 7-10 tables and looking upset & the way they don’t wannabe here. Send them to work in factory!!! So, beautiful tapas place, happy music and exceptionally terrible staff. Drinks came in last, I’ve asked about them 3 times. By the time I got bread on the table with alioil, my gambas got cold. Terrible, but will leave them alone. Overall service: ridiculous!

Went for lunch today and they really messed up the order!! Food came out at different times!! Food was nice but very poor service!!

The 1 star given is for how lovely the staff were during our visit. Other than that, overpriced, boring, bland, lukewarm food. We’d been advised if we were not seated within 15 minutes of our booking we would lose our table. Oh how I wished we’d just stayed in the queue and missed it. My sister and I shared the meat sharer menu. Other than the squid, which hash clearly been cooked fresh, each dish was lukewarm at best and no flavour. Why didn’t we call anyone? Because we couldn’t catch any staff and by the time we did, the food would have been cold anyway. A bill of £56 (we had a jug of sangria too) with a £6 device charge. I was happy to pay the service charge as the staff who did deal with us were lovely but for the rest of it, I’d have rather gone to Wetherspoons for a panini. Absolute waste of money. Will never return or recommend. I work too hard to waste that amount of money.

I visited the restaurant yesterday and was very disappointed. The menu is smaller that it used to be. It lacked some basic Spanish choices like gazpacho or pulpo a la gallega that used to be available in the past. I sat at the bar and ordered sangria. As an afterthought I feel I could get a better results by going to Lidl, buying the food on the Spanish week and preparing it myself at home: better result at a fraction of the cost. Not sure if it is cutting the costs, lack of knowledge and hoping that customers will not know any better but the overall experience was less than mediocre. I don't think I will be coming back as it is not the same place as it used to be.

Literally awful. We missed our train and were hungry while we had to wait for the next one and honestly, the food was what you would eat only because you’re hungry. The service was terrible with two waitresses exchanging looks with each other mocking customers and also the food as they collected the plates from the service. We ordered two dishes that didn’t arrive together, we had finished one well before the other arrived. We asked to pay and our disinterested waitress took our money without even the courtesy to ask how our food/experience had been. Avoid.

i am spanish and i can say the environment looks like if was an actual spanish restaurant. although the food lacked of authenticity. We had calamari and was like rubber to eat, v hard to chew. Tomato salad, I have to say that i completely understand tomatos are not as good as spanish or italian tomatos, but cmon, dont serve a 25p sainsburys tomato in a spanish restaurant because that would never be found in a tomato salad dish in spain, let me say that. Also, we never put tomatos in the fridge, as it takes the flavour away, and that tomato salad was so cold, like if would actually have been taken out of the fridge at the moment of serving it. The champiñones were good, v small plate tho. And the bravas v nice, the mix of sauces were good. In general, I would say the plates are v small and a bit overrated, and the service pretty good. I left the salad because I told the girl I couldn’t eat that, as it lacked taste and was v cold as mentioned before, and she didn’t charge me for that which was fair. I don’t think I will come again unless i give them a second chance.
