Santorini in Birmingham

Incredibly good value & tasty food. I ordered late night on Deliveroo. I ordered a mixed grill for one for £20 and was genuinely shocked by how much food came- it filled two carrier bags and was heavy! It could have easily fed four people. It came with a greek-brand fizzy drink, salted potatoes (really delicious & a new fave) , chips, greek salad with feta and olives, jeweled rice and an absolute tonne of meat. The meat included Chicken and pork skewers, pork chop, greek sausage, kofta, Doner meat, chicken and pork shawarma meat- lots of all of it. I ordered some tsatsiki on the side, as recommended, and got a whole takeaway container full. I'm certain that everything, except for the chips, was home made. It was all well seasoned and flavourful too, nothing bland, lots of variety. I thought the baklava was a little pricier than other places at £6.50 for one piece but it was definitely home made and had a substantial amount of nuts in. Really tasty. I can see why this place is so popular. 👍

Amazing! Already planning our next visit.

My mum and I came here before a show and it was wonderful. Not being from Birmingham, we looked into restaurants around the area and were very happy to come across this little gem. The food was lovely, piping hot, fresh, served quickly by friendly staff and owner, and portion sizes were big- with an added unexpected bonus of bread and dips on arrival. The atmosphere was just the right mixture of energetic and homey. We never felt rushed to leave even as it got busier, which allowed our stomachs to settle enough to choose an incredible dessert from the very inviting display they have. Would eagerly return on another visit, and will be recommending to anyone who may be visiting Birmigham.

Staff were great, food OK but not the best Greek I've had..... Portion sizes OK. Just not memorable.

Enjoy the menu and the table will be filled with delicacies. Make sure you clearly agree in advance what is included in the menu. With us, all kinds of things were suddenly added to the receipt.

AVOID THIS PLACE. My boyfriend got bad FOOD POISONING within 4 hours of ordering the mixed grill. We ate at dinner time and had not been drinking prior to meal, so it was definitely caused by the food. This restaurant does not practice food hygiene. The ratings.food.gov.uk page on Santorini restaurants has the following to say: "Hygienic food handling. Hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage: Improvement necessary."

DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND DO NOT HIRE THE PLACE FOR EVENTS! I am so sorry there is not an option for 0 stars. 1. We hired the place from 14-19:30, at 18:00 there were other tables coming over and we were told to leave. Obviously we did not 2. We paid extra menus but we got less food than we were supposed to, like half from half we paid. Yes we asked for more,and they brought more, but still not enough telling us that they think it s enough. 3. The staff is rude, not all of the staff but the ones that you have to deal with. 4. Oh, we did not have a dj, we plugged in the phone and played music from Youtube. We were having a lovely time and we were dancing and singing along and guess what, at 18:00 someone came to play live music for the place and he was waiting for us to end up the party. 5. I was breastfeeding my baby at a table and one of the waitresses sent people to sit there as he insisted that we we’re supposed to leave 🤣 Worst experience.

I went here on recommendation for a takeaway meal. I have to say that it was quite possibly the worst takeaway meal I've ever had. I purchased a chicken and chips box meal at £9. There was one small chicken skewer which was dry and overcooked and chicken kebab shavings which were tasteless and fatty. A small handful of cold fries were underneath. Disappointing is an understatement.

Pre theatre meal for a group of 6. Excellent food and entertainment by the serving staff. The food just kept coming, too much for us to eat.

My friend and I ate here yesterday early evening; we were treated so well, all the staff were so attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, very fresh and promptly served. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

We were going to a comedy gig at The Hippodrome and though that rather go into the Chinese Quarter try something on the main road. There was plenty of seating and we are taken upstairs and given flatbread and dips. I couldn’t see a pre Theatre menu so went along with the my mezze got two. There was plenty of food but no drinks menu with prices. It always becomes difficult to find staff when you are after the bill but when we got it, the price seemed extortionate. Realising that there had been a service charge added didn’t help but needless to say we will be sticking to what we know next time we are in the area.

Having read some of the outstanding reviews for the food here, I gave it a go. Moussaka was burnt around the edges which was rather disappointing in itself...but in all fairness, it wasn't Moussaka. Hardly any sauce, no potatoes, very little gloves and nutmeg (could hardly taste either). But, the service was outstanding.

Fabulous beef stifado, fully loaded with every mouthful deliciously satisfying. I bought two meals, one for friend who was absolutely amazed at the flavour; it was his first ever Greek meal. I was struck by how friendly and welcoming the staff were. My first visit and the first of many more!

I don’t like writing bad reviews but I never been so disappointed. The reviews on here made it seem like this place was going to be amazing. I went with 3 friends and we all said it was really bland and was like a cheap kebab. Really disappointing. The host was amazing and the staff were great but food was pretty awful.

Great restaurant, fast, delicious and welcoming staff. We had the pleasure to eat at Santorini and it was well worth it. As we sat down, we were immediately greeted by the owner Tony and his hard working staff. Drinks and food were served to us within minutes of ordering. Food was fresh, tasty and well worth the price (portions were massive). We had a brief conversation with not only Tony, but also Themis, a hard working waiter who ensured our cups were always filled and our table was always cleaned. We were able to have a conversation with Themis about life’s endeavours, and as a group of international students, his message resonated with us. Not only were we served delicious food, but we were offered complimentary drinks and desserts, all while having a, ‘familial’ dinner, an experience my group dearly misses being away from home. Thank you Themis, Tony and the staff for a memorable dinner, cannot recommend this establishment enough!

Booked Santorini for dinner before going to the Hippodrome for the pantomime. I have to say we both really enjoyed the whole experience. From the lovely welcome when we arrived to the delicious meal we had .... beef stifado and vegetable moussaka. I had a lovely glass of wine too. We were served greek dips etc complimentary and little desserts with ouzo at the end. Extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. Thank you Santorini for the lovely Greek experience .

We visited here again as westruggle to find anywhere that comes close to the authentic Greek experience, food is just amazing and the staff really attentive, maybe we're blessed when we visit but this place is a standout for anyone wanting a true taste of Greece whilst in Birmingham

Ok lets get the good bit out of the way first, food was delicious. We had booked an anniversary meal and traveled down from Yorkshire to have a Greek night as advertised on their website. a 4 hour round trip and hotel stay and was not worth it. We had booked but when we arrived there was no indication they had our reservation. They asked us for a drink, we asked to see drinks menu and was told, they didn't have one as it was under review? We were given sausage roll and dips and flatbread and told they were free. We ordered the mezze menu £23 per person which had an appetizer of flatbread and dips. These never arrived, we went straight to starter and realised we ended up paying for the appetizer they told us was free. We finished the starters and literally as the last bite was still in my mouth they took all the plates away and then brought pudding? We were puzzled and spoke to the owner who was clearly embarrassed. Main menu came out and again they were again so quick to clear up, and then they brought out pudding with what seemed ouzu with orange for our 15 year old son as well as us. The meal was completed in 50 minutes, and the Greek evening hadn't even started. It was a Saturday night, we had traveled 100 miles to be there, if we wanted fast food we would have gone to a local burger bar. How about slowing things down so we can enjoy the food and if you advertise a Greek night on a Saturday, how about actually showing it! Never again

Food was amazing. Service was terrible, the waitress literally took the plates away as my husband was just finishing his last mouthful, It was so rushed. They brought a tiny plate of desert out plonked it on the table and walked off before we had even had the main course. They were very apologetic about it though. The entertainment was just one person dancing around the tables. The atmosphere wasn't that great. It's a very small, cramped restaurant. Bit disappointing as we had driven 2 hours because the website promised a Greek experience.

A party of sixteen of us went for our works outing it was brilliant the staff made us so welcome and the set menu we had was excellent, cannot fault any of the evening, would highly recommend.

Check your bill folks, that piece of paper with just a total scribbled on could mean anything. I think our bill was around £15 more than what it should have been. Food was lush and service pretty good.

The good and service here is possibly the best in Birmingham, I highly recommend Santorini they're great. Their kebabs are the best 🤤

Went after seeing a matinee performance at the Rep. The food was absolutley beautiful. We had the Meze and had a wide variety of different foods and the meat was beautifully cooked. The personalised service was incredible and all staff were so welcoming. We will definatley be back and would recommend to anyone!

We have visited many times and always have a meze but the last 3 times we have noticed it has been cut down considerably. The food is still lovely but the standards have definitely dropped. I also dislike the fact that prices of drinks aren’t displayed and the bill on the last few visited definitely hasn’t been right.The prices need to be honest and open. I won’t stop going here but not as often until these issues get resolved.

Every time I come to Santorini Grill, it’s a great experience, whether for lunch or after a night out the quality in service never drops neither does the quality in food! %100 recommend for regular dining or after a night out for a kebab and snacks, you won’t regret!!! Lunch/dinner here is amazing they provide you with flatbread and dips before your main meal

A very popular restaurant allegedly visited by the stars judging by the photos on the wall. I like this place and their food, but feel it has a few 'issues' that need addressing. They don't have a drinks menu, but whilst they can cover most requests, how do you know what the costs are? The main menu has no allergy or dietary information. If you were to order say two beef stifados, you may find that they are different or not as described on the menu. They don't present you with an itemised bill. Despite the above, the staff are courteous and more than happy to deal with anything you are not happy with, just ask. You may also be given a complimentary starter, dessert or both.

Such a lovely restaurant! It had a great atmosphere and the service was fantastic. However, It was very hard to interpret the bill as the waiter just scribbled something on a piece of paper so they weren't very transparent when it comes to that. The food was good but I tried the same dish in other restaurants and this one wasn't mind-blowing. Sadly they didn't have a vegan tzatziki option, which most places I've been to had.

Our waiter Amin(?) was polite and helpful throughout. We enjoyed the complimentary bread and 4 dips. My apricot juice was tasty. Mains of pork and mousakka were delicious and of generous portions and accompanied with chips, rice and Greek salad. The desert choices were impressive and again of a generous size. a complimentary drink was appreciated to complete our wonderful 2 hours.

Had to run in pre theatre and get something to eat within 45 mins. Really generous and accommodating. Food was great. Kids were really happy. Really warmly welcomed in. Looked after by all staff. Totally recommend and will be heading back in.

Food was lovely once we could order. Asking for a food menu the staff made out it was an effort to get them. Then dumped them on the table. No drink menu. Wine choices were red , white or rosa no prices. The rum was undrinkable.

Rewelacyjne miejsce. Miałem okazję być podczas wyjazdu na mecz Aston Villa - LEGIA. Jedzenie było pyszne, doskonale doprawione. Polecam mięso we Wrapie, gyros, półmisek grillowanych mięs oraz greckie piwo. Porcje są takie, że nie będziesz głodny. Do tego super gospodarz, który dyryguje zespołem jak w greckiej restauracji przystało.

We popped by on Friday lunch for a chicken gyro. The food was delicious & staff were friendly. Would definitely recommend and will be back next time we visit Birmingham.

Stumbled across Santorini whilst looking for a Chinese restaurant. Was a perfect find. Great meal and personal service. Highly recommend eating here.

Very bad experience. The owner didn't provide full bill and it charged us 316 pounds without receipt. He gave us desserts without asking us saying they were "on the house" but they weren't. Disappointed service. We were 10 people.

Really lovely restaurant, service was great and efficient. Food was very tasty. Loved the fact that you get complimentary flatbreads at the start and little dessert tasters at the end of your meal.

I honestly dont know whats wrong with these people anymore, used to be a great place to spend a nice evening. Went last night with a group of 9 people, order went smoothly till it came to the desserts, asked for a menu which they refused to provide but instead offered to bring a few on the house, i understand could have been a missundersting the fact that we were supposed to pay for them but sounded wrong on the fact the price was not listed, this was the first red flag till the bill came. The owner couldnt provide a bill with single item ordered but instead showed us a piece of paper with a total of £316 (group of 9 where some of us only had a salad or only one main) and some unreadable notes. We then asked to pay individually and this annoyed him , and started being extremely rude, prices were totally made up trying to add 4£ each for service charge , when we asked to scrap that he tried to refuse, we disputed that and asked for a full vat receipt for the whole table which again was not provided. Really disappointed and felt like we were scammed in some tourist place, definetely not coming back

They are scammers. Food portions are ridiculous, prices are random, they presented us with a "bill" which was a piece of papers hand written with a random amount. Obviously we complained and ended up paying half of that price. The guy wanted me to pay 31.6 for a 14£ main and a small bottle of water. AVOID.

Food it's okay, service however it's terrible. No drinks menu so you don't actually know what you've been charged for drinks, which makes it convenient for them. Same for dessert. The bill was a piece of paper where there was written the amount which we found it was way more then what we were supposed to pay. When we asked for the VAT receipt the owner refused to give it to us and he became rude. Be careful when they hand you the bill, and I hope somebody will check if things are in order in this business that seems very shady

Very Bad Service and rude staff.

Without any doubt my favourite restaurant in the city. Exceptionally friendly staff, brilliant service and food that is only generously portioned but also delicious. If you are near and want an amazing mean I cannot recommend Santornis enough!

Food was good, but staff were lying to customers and were trying to cheat us. When we finished our meal we overheard the staff telling customers they could pay cash only, so we asked the waiter if we could pay by card. She confirmed and took me seceretly BEHIND the counter, typed in the amount and I tapped the card. Then she quickly pressed a button on the terminal and said there was a problem with the card mashine. She asked if I had any cash on me so I can pay. Luckily I have my banking app installed, so I was able to show them the payment went through. Before we went out the owner also asked me to show him on my phone the payment was taken as if he didn't believe me or his own staff. Avoid unless you like eating where people are trying to rip you off or like to challenge would be thieves!

The food was amazing, the staff were amazing, the atmosphere was amazing! 10 out of 10! No complaints what so ever. Love it!
