Santorini in Birmingham

Came here before the hippodrome, had to wait for a table as it was too busy however when we were seated, we were met with complimentary starters. We had a mix of meats which were all delicious & cane with lots of sides, dont go hungry! Service was great, our waiter in particular was extremely friendly & looked after us despite having a lot of tables to serve. Overall, a great meal and we’ll be back again!

The food was not very hot, the place was very quiet - but it was early. The staff were very welcoming and friendly but admittedly the restaurant is underwhelming. If I'm honest I've had better greek food in better settings.

Went to Santorinis yesterday for a pre theatre lunch. It was definately worth a visit. The food was lovely and loads of it. wine was really nice and not expensive. The gentlemen serving and , i can only assume the owner, made the biggest fuss of us and made us feel really welcome. We were six ladies in at 3.30pm. Please go along to this great restaurant you will not regret it Thanks for a lovely afternoon. You sent us on our way to the theatre with full bellies and a great experience

We normally order at home but we said to try it in person and it was even more amazing. We will come back soon

I had the mixed grill, and my partner had Chicken Souvlaki. Both meals were served immediately, which I found rather strange. The meat, on both of our meals, was bone dry and only just about warm, although the salad was quite fresh and tasty, I had to ask twice for salt and vinegar before it finally arrived about 5 minutes later. I was also not impressed with, presumably, one of the owners who consistently shouted at the waiting staff. In conclusion, this was not a culinary experience that I would like to repeat.

A great place to celebrate a birthday. The service was excellent and we felt like very welcome guests. We loved the food, live music, belly dancing, our own dancing and the plate smashing! A truly memorable evening all round!

Booked a table for 18 people for my wife’s 60th Birthday, Christos and the staff working the evening were so friendly and attentive to our needs, the food was amazing and plentiful. I would definitely recommend visiting if you are travelling to Birmingham and want an evening of good company, entertainment and food. Thank you for an amazing experience to remember. Petros

This place is amazing the server amin made me feel welcome and at home. The food was amazing and fresh while the price was competitive.

I visited after a visit to hippodrome, the service was excellent. Staff were so friendly ,the food was perfect. Delicious beef stiffado ,so tender and the desserts were incredible!!!!! We took 2 desserts home for dinner tomorrow.

Fabulous !! Everything was superb. Lots of vegetarian beautiful wine. Try it !!!

Wonderful pasticio last night. Don and his team were so welcoming and understood we were going out to Glee Club - they made sure service was speedy. Nice free desert at end of meal.

Very homely atmosphere and excellent value for money, was particularly pleasantly surprised by the flatbread as a nibble and the pastry with my coffee as mini dessert! Main course also delicious, would definitely return next time I'm in town.

Really enjoyed a meal here before going to the theatre. Great food and service, made to feel welcome and not rushed. Will visit again next time we are in Birmingham.

Nice food, lovely staff, prices were a little on the pricier side but on the whole a good experience. Toilets were a bit grubby though. They definitely need a refurb & regularly being checked to ensure they are clean!

This is a gem of a place!! Best doner I have had🤤. I still dream of it. The portion sizes are huge. The service was lovely. And the relaxed old school atmosphere is exactly what I love about restaurants. I'm planning a trip to Birmingham to just eat there again.

Came here for some food just on the off chance as we were walking past. Everything is amazing, the food is delicious and excellent value for money. The staff spoil you with breads, dips, shots. Would definitely come again

Lovely atmosphere, we had a fantastic time. The entertainment on Saturday night was fantastic, the food portions generous and the service was top notch. Everyone commented on what a great night they had.

Excellent food with value for money portions and despite being in the middle of January in near sub zero temperatures, the atmosphere does have you feeling like you're on an island.

As a Greek, I am very pleased. Staff are very polite and well trained. Always cheerful and friendly like Greek people. Food is very nice. Probably the best Gyros I have tried in England. The second best was in Scotland haymarket so highly recommend it.

I recently visited Santorini, and it was hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had! My friend and I arrived quite late and were the last customers of the evening, yet we were treated with so much warmth and hospitality that it felt like we were the first. The food was absolutely incredible — everything we ordered was bursting with flavor and perfectly prepared. You can truly taste the passion and effort that goes into every dish. A huge shoutout to Jerusalem, Sini, and Alesa, who went above and beyond to make sure our experience was flawless. Despite the late hour, they served us with enthusiasm, kindness, and professionalism. Their attention to detail and friendly service made our evening so special. If you’re looking for amazing food and even better service, Santorini is the place to be. I can’t recommend it enough and will definitely be coming back soon! Thank you, Jerusalem, Sini and Alesa.

This is the most underrated place in Birmingham. The friendly service, the decor, the music, the vibe, the freebies, THE FOOD!!! Honestly it’s so addictive I’ve started to order it takeaway. Feels like a hug and the price can’t be beaten!!! They gave us some free dips to try and we’ve become so obsessed with the aubergine one it’s become an addition in the household it’s so good 😂

We visited during a very busy time, and there weren’t any free tables. However, they went out of their way to make one for us, which was a nice gesture. The staff were lively and welcoming, as Greek people always are, which added to the atmosphere. Unfortunately, despite paying more than £100, we didn’t enjoy the food. It just didn’t live up to our expectations, which was disappointing given the price.

I popped in for a takeaway kebab on Friday night/Saturday morning- it was so good that I bought a 2nd one - will defo by going back again

I am a huge fan of Greek cuisine and wanted to find a spot in Birmingham City Centre for dinner with a friend. Santorini was incredible. What an amazing restaurant. You have all the traditional Greek dishes, starters deserts etc. Huge choice of drinks whether it is cocktail, beer or wine. The food is hearty, well portioned and above all, incredibly delicious. The traditional sausage, beef stiffado and mixed grill was just beautiful. True to Greek hospitality, you get straight away served pitta with hummus tzatziki etc. Then you get a few more nibbles to try before food arrives. The hospitaly and atmosphere is very friendly and warm. For a moment I felt like I was back to Greece. Above all else, the bill was very reasonable and for a Birmingham City Centre, rather cheap compared. Which was a nice touch. Overall, my favourite Greek restaurant experience in UK so far.

Came here with friends before a show down the road. We don’t have many Greek restaurants where we live so we were excited after travelling 3 hours to try this place. It’s beautiful. The staff are absolutely lovely and attentive! We didn’t have to wait long for food either and it was all cooked from fresh. We all had gyros, they were perfect. We were given bread and dips beforehand to try and some sort of pastry (not sure what it was called but it was beautiful) brilliant place and would come if back in the area.

Came here on Monday for lunch between trains. Food was delicious, authentic Greek and fresh and tasty. The selection of complimentary dips were absolutely gorgeous with fresh bread and mini spanakopita, OMG lovely. Souvlaki so good, large portion and just couldn’t manage it but had to take some home. Service really good and friendly. Also got complimentary mini dessert, such a lovely friendly place. Would 100% recommend and will be back.

The customer service and overall experience was second to none here, we were treated so well, shown all the celebrity visitors and given complimentary sweets and shots. The staff were fabulous, made us feel more than welcome and we waved to everyone, even the chefs when we left. The food was also incredible, I have a new found love of greek food. The portions are huge and great value for money. The meat is so tender and flavourful. I would not hesitate to return and hope to be back the next time I'm in Birmingham.

Voordat we naar de Steps-musical gingen, wilden we graag nog een hapje eten. Aangezien het weekend was, besloten we om het op z’n Grieks te doen. Het blauwgeschilderde restaurant Santorini is het enige gebruikte deel van een groot spuuglelijk leegstaand gebouw aan het begin van Gay Village. Eenmaal door de deur, worden al je zintuigen overprikkeld. In een oerwoud van planten die nog nepper zijn dan de gebitten van de Roelvinkjes, hangt een enorm televisiescherm met het volume op 100. Op het scherm is een aflevering te zien van Οι καλύτεροι τραγουδιστές στην Ελλάδα, oftewel ‘ De beste zangers van Griekenland’. De lokale Ben Cramer staat de longen uit zijn lijf te zingen, terwijl de andere artiesten de sirtaki dansen. De muren zijn opgeleukt met scheve fotolijstjes met daarin celebrities die de afgelopen eeuw gegeten hebben in dit restaurant. De meesten zijn van het niveau Anita en Ed, Manouk van der Meulen en Willie Batenburg maar de gedachte dat Jason Donovan aan dezelfde tafel als jij een portie gyros naar binnen heeft geschoven, is toch té leuk? Tussen de tafels door, speelt zich een aflevering af van Fawlty Towers. Er wordt door het personeel op en neer gerend alsof ze bezig zijn met de marathon en ondertussen worden ze toegeroepen door de twee bazen op een niet al te vriendelijke manier. Maar eerlijk is eerlijk: mijn Grieks is een beetje weggezakt dus misschien was het allemaal wel veel liefdevoller dan ik dacht. Al bij al is het amuserend om deze Griekse hysterie te aanschouwen, maar aan de andere kant zorgt het ervoor dat je zelf ook een opgejaagd gevoel krijgt. Terwijl je je jas nog niet hebt uitgedaan en je nog niet met je bips op de slechte stoel bent gaan zitten, ligt de menukaart al voor je snufferd. Deze is gestencild en geplastificeerd in het geboortejaar van Nana Mouskouri, dus ik hoef niet te vertellen hoe deze er nu uit ziet. In 2 minuten hebben er 5 verschillende personeelsleden aan onze tafel gestaan, dus misschien deden ze een estafette in plaats van een marathon? We kregen pitabrood met vier verschillende dips aangeboden van het huis. Deze dips waren allemaal erg lekker, maar die met aubergine was mijn favoriet. Met onze voorgerechten was niks mis. Gebakken haloumi en bladerdeeg gevuld met feta. Bijzonder was wel dat de haloumi werd geserveerd op een bedje van koude friet. Tien minuten na het voorgerecht, verscheen ons hoofdgerecht op tafel: kip voor mijn echtgenoot en de vegetarische moussaka voor mij. Dit was overigens het enige hoofdgerecht waar geen dier voor is geslacht! Het bord was opgemaakt met rijst, friet (nu wel warm) en Griekse salade: je kunt dus wel zeggen dat het een royale portie was! Na het betalen werd ons nog een flauwe Roosvicee aangeboden en spoedden we ons naar het theater! Deze avond was en hele bijzondere ervaring! 😀

Loved the food and ambience, went there after a show in hippodrome, the service was excellent, liked the kleftiko. The owners were very kind and had a great conversation, we had a dinner at 10: 30pm and still they were very welcoming.

I live alone and I don't cook. That's why I get Uber eats most of the time. And as far as I'm aware, this is the best Greek Restaurant in Birmingham! The food quality is amazing, and I would recommend to anyone who likes Mediterranean cuisine.

Came in before a gig at the o2 Academy for a meal. The host was absolutely lovely and the restaurant itself felt so authentic and homely. Now, the FOOD…. Wow. We were brought some bread and dips instantly, along with some sausage and cheese (?) rolls. All delicious. As we didn’t have much time we opted for a gyros wrap. They arrived promptly- absolutely full to the rafters as they were… but to our surprise, were served on a plate full of chips AND with mine (lamb) came also with an extra lamb kebab and my partners (mix) came with a chicken souvlaki. We paid £11 each and the amount of food was amazing. So tasty and such good value! Will definitely return for the mezze. ευχαριστώ! 🙏🏻❤️

The workers and what i presume to be the owners were extremely kind and inviting. they provided good service throughout the duration of the meal, the food tasted good across the board and everyone enjoyed their food.

Second visit to this restaurant. Same friendly welcome as the first visit. Food piping hot and excellent quality. Lively atmosphere with Greek music on a to screen , didn’t watch but good to listen to . I visit Greece every year and I felt as at home here as I do there . Would thoroughly recommend

Very good service and prices. We were very pleased to have some octopus at a good price. Friendly and fun atmosphere.

Food was OK, but nothing special. The waiter tried to scam us and added an alleged “tax” to all prices. We had to argue for a long time and read out the prices ourselves from the menu to get the £84 shown on the menu instead of the £110 he had calculated! Fraud.

Kebab is poor quality. Lamb kebab not 100% lamb as how kebab should be. It is so thick you can feel it is a mixture of mostly wheat flour and other things that are not meat. Overpriced for what it is. I would not recommend at all and won't be coming back, imagining what meat they put on the rest of their dishes that has lots of sauce and can't even taste what meat they serve. They gave a free bottle of soft drink though.

Had a lovely meal here for lunch before going to the theatre. The appetizers were wonderful, lovely Greek main course, great portions. No small measure on the glass of wine, a proper glass of wine, had a lovely Greek red wine, think it began with the letter K. Staff were lovely, didn't rush us to leave and very helpful. Will definitely visit again.

Myself, my wife and daughter enjoyed a preshow meal before our visit to the Hippodrome to see A Chorus Line. As soon as we entered we were seated and welcomed. We ordered our food and thoroughly enjoyed it. Everything was delicious. I was so impressed with the ambience, it felt very authentic. Without doubt the best welcome and service in a restaurant I have ever received.

First time eating here and what a great experience. Amazing service, we had warm pitta bread and selection of dips on the table before we even sat down. Great conversation with one particular waiter, however after the initial interaction he didn’t seem to chat to us. Can’t fault the service though. Food was tasty and arrived quickly. Great atmosphere, would definitely recommend.

Our 3rd time at Santorini, love the atmosphere, the welcome as you walk in, service was excellent, same as previous visits. Food has always been fantastic 😋 look forward to coming again the next time we visit Birmingham

If your looking for a great Greek restaurant in Birmingham, then look no further as this place is excellent. Great food, service and reasonable prices. They even bring you some complimentary dips to start and serve a selection of drinks from Greece includingthe bottled water which is a nice touch and something many places dont bother to stock. Would definitely go back and definitely recommend 👌

Nice staff BUT CHECK THE BILLS Food - chicken was too dry, fries - not the best, other types of meat not worse, but I've eaten better ones elsewhere. Wine - I can't choose, they just serve me a glass of wine - I don't even know what it was. Service charge - crazy - 10.34% (of course added by the staff without providing information) for service for 2 people and one meal 🤦‍♀️ Even bigger and much better restaurants have a lower service charge for only 2 guests. Basically - my first time there and for sure last one. I know better places.

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was served promptly and the portion was very generous. The staff were welcoming and I felt like I could have spent all night there.

Turned up under time pressure to get to the theatre, we managed to have around 4 courses of fresh, delicious quick fire Greek food in 30 minutes. An absolute brilliant experience and will be back. Thank you!

Went with friends whilst staying overnight in Birmingham on a Monday night. The owner, Christos, was pleasant and as I’m Greek we had some good conversation. We all decided to just have main courses and drinks.. One of the waitresses brought us some dips and pitta bread’s saying it’s on the house so we thought great.. we all had our mains, Moussaka (£16), Mixed Grill (£20), Gyros Wrap (£11) and Seafood Salad (£12). Total of 3 bottles of Keo Greek Beer (£4.50 each) and 2 bottles of still water (not sure of price but wouldn’t have thought more than £2 a bottle) After finishing our meals we were brought a selection of dessert tasters together with an ouzo shot and again told that these were complimentary.. The service was really good and the food very tasty. However once we asked for the bill Christos presented this to us with a folded bit of paper and a total price of £92 hand written on the back of the paper.. It was late and we were tired after a hectic day site seeing and shopping so rather than question the bill we just paid it and left… The price for what we actually ordered should have been £72 or thereabouts if the water was indeed £2 a bottle so looks like we did end up paying around £20 for pitta & dips and taster desserts which we didn’t ask for and were told quite clearly were on the house.. Like I’ve said, the food and service were great but just want people to be aware of this overcharging should they visit…

They have the best Greek food in town! You should taste them and visit here to feel the lovely atmosphere. And yes, Don is legend. If he's around, try to meet with him. And do not forget to order their unforgettable borek and treats. A place that is safe, serving delicious food and warm-hearted people with peace!

Food wasn't fooding. It strangely rained, even though it didn't rain. Would not recommend it... the side dishes were good. The Pitas were amazing

The service is great, but today, the food was not up to scratch. I had chicken skewers, which were dry and tasteless. It was only later I realised they had been pre cooked, and then microwaved. Not recommended, which is a shame because the staff are lovely

Went on a weeknight evening. Food was decent. Service was pushy and hovered like a helicopter. One of the servers was very rude to my trans son.

We didn't order any of this food. The waiter said "this is mezze", and just started putting plates on the table. When we questioned why we had so much food without ordering, he said it would be £25 each and they kept bringing plates even though we complained. We had a vegetarian at the table, and only the salad was vegetarian! Be careful if coming here with a large group! Food is good though
