the Olive Grove does the best breakfast every. Set just of the main A39 Truro/Falmouth road. My grandson and I love the breakfasts, such variety. He adores the bigger breakfast. I try to be good and have the normal English breakfast. Which is amazing as well. Its out go to place, as a family as well so in and out very often. Good parking, and a very friendly welcome. We have been eating here, for 17 years, and always come away happy. The breakfast menu is very long covering all tastes as well. The lunchtime menu extensive as well. Service is just great, with friendly staff and an open kitchen. Would highly recommend.

Well what can I say.We were celebrating our Ruby wedding anniversary and wanted somewhere different to take our family. After looking around we chose The Olive Grove ,best decision we made. Cathy the owner was very helpful from the start ,prepared a menu for us with both adult and child choices for a 3 course meal.On the day the weather was against us ,very windy and pouring with rain.As we were in the Marquee, blankets had been provided for anyone who was feeling cold and we were given the choice of going into the bistro once people had started to leave and there was enough room to accommodate all 27 of us. The staff were very polite and friendly and Sophie was kept on her toes going to and fro with the meals and drinks orders. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it and if anyone wanted more they only had to ask.Desserts all made by Cathy were large portions and everyone enjoyed what they had chosen. We didn't want a traditional cake so we asked Cathy if she could do us up some cup cakes ,which she did.As we were all full from our lunch everyone took a cake home to have later and all have said how lovely they were.Thankyou Cathy,Sophie and the rest of the staff for making our anniversary special.

This is a lovely place with plenty of parking and they allow dogs, which was the thing that drew us there originally. However the friendly staff and good food was the thing that brought us back the subsequent two times. Very nice vegetarian cooked breakfast, in fact, one of the best I've had. Really good coffees too.

As a local, this place is a refreshing find with a pleasant ambience inside & out. However, having visited recently, I was very disappointed with the stingy portion size of the focaccia bread (not even a full slice) sprinkled with barely a handful of roasted veg and a few crumbs of feta which were hard to find. What could have been a great combination was spoiled by the obvious cost cutting exercise boarding on the ridiculous. At almost £11 I left feeling ripped off... and hungry. Be warned...if you order the smaller portion, it really will be SMALL

What a find. Just up from Cosawes Park where we were staying. We were having lunch with friends who live in Falmouth but who had not found this little gem. Excellent food and reasonable prices. I went here yesterday afternoon for tea and cake with a friend. An impatient waitress was very abrupt with us, and frowned when I asked where she would like us to sit as we had stopped to look at the choice of cakes without following her first to a table. The cakes were not labelled with name or ingredients and the waitress made my friend feel very uncomfortable while she described what she wanted, the waitress giving the impression she didn't understand and making far too much of an issue about the order. Each time she brought the tea pots and cups to the table she didn't make eye contact or speak. When she came back with our cakes she just plonked mine in the middle of the table in an offhand way and walked off. A smile and pleasant word would have made the afternoon so much more enjoyable. This incident is unfortunate as we have both been happy with the food and service in the past.

As usual, an absolute cracking meal at the Olive Grove The bistro offers superb breakfasts, great varied lunches, and one of the best cake / dessert selections in Cornwall. BUT, it also does special evenings. Last night was Tapas night. My word - so good! Home made nachos and guacomole. Pork meatballs which you just cannot get enough of! Our friends had prawns, squid, mackerel pate and pork cheeks. Everything was so fresh, so flavoursome. And did I mention the desserts?????? In truth, we have been there many times over the years - not once have we been disappointed. It is always great to go for lunch and check out the specials board. You just never know what you will be enjoying! :-) And never forget the Sunday Roasts - so much delicious veg - we always have the beef, which is always cooked to perfection - just sat here writing this the thought of the beef is making my mouth water. Also a shout out to the staff and Cathy. Fantastic team. We absolutely love the Olive Grove - highly recommended.

There are 4 of us in our little group of 'locals'. We often visit local establishments for lunch after our morning walks. When it warrants a review we will leave one on Tripadvisor. Good or bad. Just lately we have had to leave a number of bad reviews but not so with The Olive Grove. The staff were unbelievably friendly and provided superb service and the food was excellent. Both the main lunch and the desserts were of the highest standard. We do not care about the price of the meals as long as the service and food is of an acceptable standard and the Olive Grove's was way above this level. We will certainly be visiting again as often as we can. Many thanks 'guys'.

We have been many times over the years under different ownership and it's always good, but this was the first time we felt compelled to leave a review as every thing is done well. We agree the Quiche is one of the best we have had, thick, tasty with crisp pastry. There was a good mix of flavoursome healthy choices and tasty and delicious filling meals. The cafe is well run and the staff quick and friendly and genuine, It was packed on a Saturday lunchtime, if it's this busy in winter it will be more busy in summer, though in summer there will be more outdoor seating, they still managed not to turn anyone away with skill of a experienced maitre D. The ambience was lovely with a nice buzz about the place and the mix of modern and upcycled vintage furniture adds to the charm. Well done

Live fairly local to this gem of a place and have eaten here many times including breakfast, brunch, lunch and one of their themed evenings. Been here as a couple, with family and friends. The food has always been great and freshly homemade. Varied menu, generous portions, very tasty and fairly priced. Great coffee. Also licensed so you can enjoy a wine, beer or something a little stronger. A great selection of local gins too. The kitchen is open plan so you can see the attention that goes into the menu. Staff are lovely. Front of a house is a delight and always makes me feel like at home and is a pleasure to talk to. Treat yourself to a homemade dessert/cake or ask for one to take away. You will not be disappointed. To top it off it’s dog friendly. Our two are usually treated to a couple of dog biscuits and a fuss. Really lovely decor too and supports local artists by selling their paintings. Can’t fault this wonderful eatery. Fab outdoor area for warmer weather as well.

Really disappointing visit this afternoon. Waited to be served as sign said. Totally ignored by young waitress even though she saw us. Older lady then asked what we were doing and I replied waiting to be seated. Obviously the wrong answer. When asked which cake was in the cabinet was shown a blackboard with 4 cakes on. Which didn't answer my question. Lady was really quite rude. Young waitress spilt drinks in saucers and used her fingers to get butter pieces out of tub to put on tea cake. Butter pieces had finger marks in it. Young waitress then dropped a huge tray of China and glass, showering the restaurant and us with glass pieces. No apology. Won't be returning .

Popped in for a late lunch with my partner after a recommendation from her Grandmother. We were both very pleasantly surprised with the friendliness of the staff including their covid procedures. On arrival without booking we were advised there was a small wait for food, to us this was a positive note as it meant they were busy so we were more than happy to wait. The food was wholesome, filling and obviously made with good ingredients as the taste was great throughout. The lone chef operating out of a relatively small open kitchen did a cracking job and I will definitely recommend to family and friends of all ages to pop in.

I knew from the phone call I had booking the table that we should have not gone. The lady who answered was unacomadating and rude. I asked if we could book a table outside and I was told only if it isn't raining, that was it. I also asked if there were any vegan option for breakfast and she told me no but they do do baked beans! On arrival we were shown to our tables by the same lady I spoke to on the phone. She was not wearing a mask when all the other staff were. We were shown a table inside when we asked to sit outside. It was quiet so we decide to stay inside. It was not raining. We helped ourselves to a menu and were quickly told off as she would now have to sterilise them. She then walked off and moaned about us to the neighbouring table. This was coming from a women who had no mask on, did not keep her social distance and we could smell what she had eater for breakfast on her breath she was so close. The tables in the restaurants were not spread out with 2m between them. We were uncomfortable with the whole situation and asked to sit outside. She was not best pleased with this because it was dangerous for her to walk over the timber decking which was apparently slippery outside. So we said no problem we will sit outside on the patio where there was no decking. The funny thing was the decking area was where everyone entered the restaurant so it obviously was safe for customers but not her. For the record it was not slippery, We picked up cutlery drinks and moved ourselves outside, with no offer of help.Once seated we were served by a different much nicer person (thankfully). Our food arrived and it was fine for my family other than mine. I had scrambled egg which was loaded with egg shell! Inedible! The new lady serving us was very apologetic and offered me a coffee on the house which was good service. My partner was also promised an egg and hash brown they missed off here original order but we never got it. It came to payment time and we were unfortunately greeted by the same lady as before. She made a joke about the scrambled egg having shell in it and informed me it was not included in the bill. There was no apology what so ever, no offer of a further refund or explanation to why I had shell in the food in the first place. We have been left worried about our health due to the blatant lack of covid-19 adherence and completely dumfounded by the rudest and utterly poor service by a particular member of staff. This used to be one of our favourite cafes to go to but we will never go there again. Be warned.

We chose from the menu and none of us really enjoyed the gluten free cakes. When they served us, they kept slamming the crockery and cutlery down as if we were not welcome. I have been here a few times over the years, the service has always been slow but today it was ridiculous, won't be returning. The mature lady who eventually took our order was extremely rude. She asked what we wanted and as we started to give our order the phone rang and she answered it without the courtesy of an excuse me while I take the call, or asking if we minded if she answered it. She was rude to the person in the phone who was enquiring as to whether they had a table for Mothering Sunday. When she hung up she didn't bother to apologise to us for being ignored and asked us again what we wanted, by this time we had changed our minds and decided against cakes and just asked for a coffee and hot chocolate, we gave our order and she didn't even listen to us and asked again what we wanted, then got the hot chocolate but asked again what the other drink was...how difficult is it to remember an Americano? We then paid and went to our table. 23 minutes later we got our drinks, which were only tepid. Will never return.

We sat down and waited for service and waited and waited, we did discuss that perhaps we should actually move onto somewhere else, which I wish we had done, but after watching this same serving lady take an order from a woman who had come into the restaurant after us and sat in the lounge area, who had been served and was well half way through her soup and bread before we managed to see another member of staff who was clearing tables, to take our order...

Always welcomed by the staff and lovely food, sometimes there's a wait if there busy but that's expected when the food is prepared from fresh.

We stopped off at the garden centre not planning to eat here, but we’re glad we did. I had the stuffed mushrooms & my husband had the chilli with wedges. I certainly didn’t feel the portion was too small or the meal was overpriced. We both had more than enough to eat and my husband was especially impressed with the wedges.

On holiday in the Truro/Falmouth area with friends and we heard about this gem of a lunchtime café. It's a little difficult to find. You have to keep your eyes open to find it, but once there it is well worth it.

We visited The Olive Grove today and I ordered the Cream cheese stuffed mushrooms with salad. This is priced at just under £9, however when it arrived there was a very small salad and 2 small mushrooms!! The salad consisted of lettuce, a couple of pieces of beetroot, roughly 3 halved cherry tomatoes, a little red cabbage and a few pieces of red onion with a balsamic drizzle!! Although it was tasty it was totally overpriced! It’s such a shame as this place used to be good value and fairly priced for generous portions.

I had been meaning to call in at The Olive Grove Bistro for quite some time. Finally a friend and I stopped there for lunch recently. We both decided to try the "fish finger sandwich". Forget what you might think of regarding fish fingers - this was three large portions of fish inside a batter that was so tasty. The side salad and chips were also excellent. We always have to have a dessert whenever we have lunch and this was also exceptional. Prices were very reasonable and the staff were very friendly.

A friend and I visited here for lunch on a rainy Saturday. We both opted for one of the specials; a Cajun spiced chicken burger. I was surprised at how much choice there was for lunch and all of it looked lovely! Our chicken burgers were delicious and a very good size! We weren’t rushed or bothered by the staff much at all which I like, especially as by the time we left, it had become very busy!

Smashing breakfast. I very much enjoyed the addition of a potato cake. And a very nice slice of Bakewell tart. All with a lovely outside space to sit

Lovely little place with excellent food. The wait for food was well worth it, you could tell everything cooked fresh and the portions were very generous.

Oh dear as Sunday lunch (roast) this one had a lot to be desired!.....watery gravy, poorly cooked vegetables (one inedible),pre sliced meat, which is a shame because their cream teas are excellent and very well presented. As my teacher used to say.....could do better!

I was absolutely gob smacked to see the amount of choice on the menu for gluten free. At least half the menu was gluten free and they must have had a choice of about 10 desserts also gluten free. Food was fabulous, service was brilliant and its a really quaint place to sit and eat. Highly recommended :)

Went in for breakfast today, took 45 mins to get 1 cooked breakfast and 1 sausage sandwich. Not busy and waited so long. Commented when paying that the food was nice but service was slow and this comment was not taken well. The lady argued to say that food was cooked to order and was somewhat rude. Sorry that left a bad taste, will not be back

We went for Sunday lunch and had pre-ordered roast chicken but what we had appeared to be a poorly microwaved chicken breast which was tough and chewy, together with hard roast potatoes. We did mention a couple of times to the staff who just said "sorry" and walked away.

This is not our first visit to the Olive Tree....however we were again disappointed by the indifference shown to us. We asked if there was non-chocolate alternative to the biscuit served with our coffee, as I am allergic to chocolate..we were told very abruptly.. No.

A pre Christmas luncheon with friends, in a comfortable friendly atmosphere. All freshly cooked to all our requirements. Cater for gluten free and vegetarian needs as well. Great for a full meal, a coffee and mouthwatering cakes, or just a snack.

Visited for lunch with my mum. I really enjoy going to this place. We’ve been here a few times now, and have always found it to be really lovely. Mum ordered the fish cakes, they checked with us what mum’s appetite is like, so they could ensure that they could adjust the portion size to meet her requirements. I had the butternut squash, coconut and chilli soup, which was fantastic. The staff are warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. It is a very popular spot and very quickly filled up for lunch. They are also open in the evening and I would certainly recommend booking if you wish to guarantee a table. Will definitely be back again!

Beautiful building. Amanda the barmaid/waitress was very helpful and friendly. My family had the ham egg and chips, which was outstanding. I had fish and chips, the fish was delicious and fresh. The puddings were sinful and beautifully made.

Went for a coffee and was told could only have take away as it was 15:40 on a Sunday, my wife and I are both disabled and I have an ostomy and asked to use the loo and was told I could only if I buy something, so it cost me 7 quid for two takeaway coffees just to use the loo....thanks national trust

We stopped for an ice cream while on the search for our car keys which we lost on the beach!! 🤦🏽♀️ The rum and raisin ice cream was AMAZING and no complaints from the kids and hubby with their choices! The lovely gent who served us got his wife Zara to help us with locating the keys which luckily where found and left at the RLNI across but was closed, she managed to find someone who got the keys So thank you so much for your help lovely people and for the ice creams! 🥰 wishing you all the best x
