The Olive Grove in St Edmundsbury

Love this small part of Greece in Bury st Edmunds, great food (and Greek coffee and baklava), drinks (including the best espresso martinis), ambience, deli and service (friendly and attentive). Takes me back to the Sporades Islands and the pine covered island of Skopelos. Would highly recommend this little independent restaurant xx

Good food and great atmosphere. Reasonable price with excellent service, Katie provided good recommendations and made great cocktails. Overall a great evening and I would highly recommend the Olive Grove. I live in Bury and it is only one of a few restaurants I would recommend.

Don’t even know we’re to start over priced and cheap food the service was terrible didn’t care that we had spent nearly £150 for two people all you could see was the staff congregating around the bar are mains was waiting on the table for nearly 25 mins empty as we wanted desserts but by the time they actually cleared the table we had gone off the idea. We sat near the kitchen and all we could hear was the foul language coming from the staff would definitely not be returning this place as this used to be the place to be in bury and now it has really gone down hill and the looks of things all managed and run by kids And as a business owner my self you thrive on repeat customers and word of mouth and myself and my family was wondering why during the week the place is a ghost town Don’t know if this is a managed restaurant or a small business but you need to sort it out

Such a disappointment. I’ve eaten here before - some time ago - and returned thinking it would be okay but far from it. The food was close to inedible and even the soft drinks were suspect. A very expensive error that I won’t make again.

Lovely restaurant with nice interior, nice for date night or a family meal. Prawn starter was delicious and the pork gyros was perfect. Would recommend.

Disappointing! Food average and over priced fir what it was. Kofta dry and sausage grizzley. Friday night and hardly anyone in there. Won't be going back sadly 😞

The haloumi fried and cheese balls was lovely !!! And the drinks were exceptionally good, should thank the lovely bartender!!

Wonderful! I was here for lunch with a good girl friend of mine and Seni made us feel so welcome and hosted perfectly. She is the epitome of customer service x

Came here for dinner with my husband. Our meals were nice but it did seem to be quite greasy. The portions were a good size. The waitress Ava was very good and was serving the restaurant and dealing with the takeaway delivery drivers on her own. I think they could do with more waiting staff. I would go back and choose another main next time.

Came here for an evening meal. I’ve eaten in many good quality Greek restaurants in this country and in Greece and this place was a let down. Had calamari and holoumi fries as our starters which were nice although nothing special. The walls were grubby and there was drop marks on the wall next to where I was sat. The mains were awful - I had the aubergine which was so slimey inside, rock hard on the outside and the topping was very salty. My Partners meat in his dish was very dry and chewy but he was so hungry he just ate it. I could not eat mine after about 4 mouthfuls of trying as it was so bad and I informed the waiter that the topping was very salty and inside was slimey. He spoke to chef and came back with the repose was “it’s just the feta”. No apology, no sending back to the kitchen or offering a replacement. I did not even bother to argue as my intelligence was so insulted. We paid, left and won’t be returning. So many nice restaurants around- if you’re looking for a good quality meal this isn’t the place.

5 of us went for a birthday meal on Friday the 2nd February. The food was delicious, and would definitely go back again. I would like to give Jordan our server a mention as he is fantastic, and went out of his way to bring the Birthday cake out and they sang happy birthday , nice touch. #jordandeservesapayrise

One of the worst restaurants we have been in! Certainly not Greek hospitality that we have tried in numerous restaurants and tavernas. Booked a month ago but table not ready on arrival, had to wait. Shown to our table and was handed 1 menu for the 4 of us. Asked for water but did not turn up. We were offered olives but the did not turn up. Ordered Greek house wine…£29 a bottle. Wine turned up eventually with water, we were then told they had no wine glasses so we had to make do with brandy glasses. We asked again later on as the restaurant was half empty but we were ignored. Our starters turned up which were nice. We then waited over an hour for our main courses. The grilled lamb was ok but chips were stone cold. They eventually cleared the plates and we then waited an hour hoping for desert menu. But no. They obviously did not want serve us desert or coffee. We finally got the bill where the tried to charge for the olives we didnt get and tried to overcharge for to bottles of the wine. They then added some 10% service charge. What a joke. The bill was almost £200 for 4 of us. Daylight robbery. This restaurant will not survive with this poor attitude, poor service, poor quality and over pricing. We will never book again !!!!!

We went as a group of 4 adults and 1 toddler. The staff were brilliant with my daughter offering to something up from off the menu for her and brought her food out early. We had calamari, pitta and dips to start which was delicious. Followed by some gyros which was as good as it looks online. One minor annoyance was that the first waiter we asked about a pizza and gyros menu said they didn't have one, however we luckily asked another waiter and they brought it out for us. The food wasn't cheap, it was roughly £32 per person but would definitely go back.

Food was very good. Tasty without a doubt. Someone said it lacked atmosphere which I suppose is fair. They could soon tweak that though with adding a few more Greek things about the place. They were busy when we went and the waiters worked very hard and were attentive despite this. Our waiter Tom was lovely. Friendly and helpful and happy to see to our requests without qualm. I would say it was a little pricey in certain things but that’s for the restaurant to consider. Wound definitely recommend and advise to go with an open mind as it was a good experience.

First visit today and was warmly greeted and shown to a table. Ordered cheese balls, Greek sausage and a Pork Chop for my wife. Everything was cooked perfectly,full of flavour and worth every penny. Will be returning again soon and have already started to spread the word amongst family and friends.
